Just returned from taking my resume and application back to a relatively local company that is involved with solar power.  From the discussion that the receptionist and I had, this sounds very promising.Thumbs Up  On the way there I passed a beautiful 96 Probe SE in Boysenberry, and on the way home it was parked by the local Subway.  Maybe that is some sort of sign? Smile, Wink & Grin I see it parked in a driveway not even a mile from here frequently, but this was the first time that I've seen the girl who owns it.  If it wasn't for the leaking valve cover gasket on my GT, I would have come home, switched vehicles, and gone to Subway.Smile, Wink & Grin

No tunnel portals or DVD yet, so I can't do much with the layout right now.  I need to replace the horn in the Sunfire, but I'll have to put the PGT back outside first later.

Good Morning

One more day and back to the real February. This break felt good though. After a week above freezing we still have way more snow than grass. Egg and bologna sandwich for breakfast..S.J.

Aloha. Today should be 60! That'll teach that dastardly snow, though it all returns to 'normal' temps tomorrow. and there's tons of snow left out there. Jack, I thought I was the only one with older, solid tech, like my 1984 TV and our trains Big Smile. Got to get the boys off to school.

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 60s.  Borders that was across the street from where I work is closing.  Probably 50% of my Christmas shopping was done there.  Hmmmmm.....  One of "my" soccer girls lost her dad to cancer.  He was only 41.  With my dad and what he is going thru, well, you kind of expect something of that nature at his age, but 41......   D--n, that creates a vacuum if you know what I mean.  Dad has been having rough nights.  He had some visitors yesterday and even they noticed he was putting on a good "show" for them.  At least work went well.  I am sorry I have not been commenting as much on the topics others have been discussing as I usually do.  I do read what everybody has been doing and it is good to hear the other activities.  Brutus, I hope things improve for Char regarding her tooth.  Fife, cool deal on the security detail.  Weather still predominates a lot of our discussions.  I had the regular fare on the dining car for breakfast befroe sending it on to "Points East".  TBIL anytime, and we may need the A/C on soon.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Good evening all,

Well the temperature reached 74 today; it's hard to believe we were shoveling snow a week ago. I had a busy day at work today and it looks like tomorrow will be as well.  We had Bible study tonight and now it's time to hit the sack.  It seems as if today was a very long day.

Don Baker - Thanks for the tutorial and photos.  Young folks like me who are paying for some of the geezers' SS Laugh are very appreciative the lessons.

Fife - When I was stationed in Hawaii I was able to work on security details for President Clinton as well as Chelsea.  A couple of years ago while in Iraq I was able to work on VP Cheney's detail.  Those jobs are not as glamorous or as cool as some might think, but I'm thankful I had those experiences.

Good night,

Joe

Char got a break when I married her Laugh  Everything went fine this morning and she is just fine.  PT went well yesterday and even with the anesthetic effects and meds she was able to get back in the house on her own two feet, so that is real progress Smile  She thinks she might be able to drive soon - we'll see!  She's doing so much better these past few weeks, I think she might!

8N - prayers for your wife's surgery and glad to hear her PT went so well.

RT - that's a heck of a job man!  Bet you are sound asleep already!  We'll use the Tardis and go back a week so you can do it over again (I mean back then) and not have to do it today.  Oh wait, would that work?  Hmmm.....

Train Doc - thanks man!

Temps in the 70s in Saint Louis today and didn't get anything done except take care of Charlene.  She needed soft foods, so I got her some goodies from the Bread Company and made chili for dinner.  We have ice cream in several flavors, but cookies are gone now.  Tardis is ready, so let's hit it guys!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Traindood - Just a caution - you should consider deleting your post with your e-mail address. There are "crawler" data mining programs roaming internet websites looking for e-mail addresses which then subject you to massive amounts of spam.

Use the private chat feature on the forum to send that kind of info to another forumite.

JimSP,

If you could let me know the measurements of the cradle in the 595,  I'll report back about the reproducer for the postwar 755/799 talking stations.  I haven't put the 755 that I was using on the Christmas layout into storage yet.

Brent,

That place in GA used to be great, but lately more and more are saying otherwise.

Not much going on right now.  If anyone is looking for a movie to watch, Reno 911: Miami is great.Laugh  I've watched it several times this week.  Still waiting for the DVD and tunnel portals to get here so I can get started.

Hey Laz;   layout is sweeeeeeeeet!!   as far as Watson goes; my humble opinion is that Watson is just teasing the other players as well as us. why? because we humans would like to think we're just as smart as a computer. if Watson won all the time, who would watch?  ever play chess on a computer at the higher levels? i have. good luck trying to beat it. most i did was stalemate.      Bang Head

One time i will tell the story of when my refrigerator told my oven to go on!!  Just part of Traindoods "believe it or not'.  lucky my  house didn't  burn down!    Confused   later.

RT...........raking leaves and planting roses?!?  Re the leaves, you've got the rest of us (combined) beaten in the procrastination department.  Curious......were these 2009 leaves or 2010 leaves?  Did the Tardis accidentally drop you off in the future or in the past  Huh?

Fife..........cheers! Thumbs Up

Afternoon all been raking leaves for 2 days finally done. did make it easier thou normally to empty the leaves from the back ( where most of them are) we put on a tarp and pull to front  by the road for them to come pick them up. this time I took tarp and lifted it and dumped it in back of truck and then drove truck down there with like 6 tarp loads so saved about 15 trips lol. 2 1/2 truck loadsWhistling

did do some running around in the middle of all that raking yesterday. and did get front raked yesterday so thats not to bad really should of gotten some of them up last November but guess we just didn't do it lol.

well was told today that titled was mailed out on the 11th for the truck so should be getting it any day now thats such a good feeling. And no plans to replace it.

Navy Jack Congrats on your son's decision. Best of luck on your deck shame Laz isn't closer to you he could build it for you.

Not much else going on getting ready to plant some more rose's today its in the mid 60's here and not suppose to go below 45 at night for next week at least so went and bought some yesterday. that will give us 5 plants along the drive way in the flower bed there that I built and will probably put 2 more in there befor we are done .

talk to you all later need to go plant rose's

Lunchtime,

Don, After all of that gratitude for your efforts on the headlamp replacement, I think next time I would refer them to the dealer.

Navy Jack, Good luck to your son. Your grandson is some fisherman. Jack, you might as well drop ship to my house. I am on a first name basis with the UPS guy.

Chief, It is my daughter's influence on my wife about multiple dogs. She lives across the street. she has a Ridgeback/Pit mix, that is an alpha female and has to be the boss. Our Lab/Pointer mix is about the same size, doesn't have an aggressive personality, loves to play and tease, is much smarter than my daughter's dog and he works her over. She is stronger, but he is more agile. The 2 get along great and my daughter's dog gave up trying to boss him around. My wife wants to get him a playmate. A few new additions are arriving tonight. Read what I tell Ray (My wife's brother) and I can not wait for his reaction.

Ray, Guess what is scheduled to show up at my house tonight. A 55 gal tank with 3 turtles. I wonder who they are for?

Brutus, Char just can't get a break. Bang HeadWhoops wrong use of words. Teeth can be painful.

Thoughts and Prayers for all in need, a special one for Char.

Back to work,

John

Greetings Ya'll From Sunny and Warming Taxachusetts,

Got down into the high teens last night, was windy too.  Thirties now and low forties later today, then high 40s for the daily highs through Friday.  The good news......major snow melt is upon us.  The bad news......too many street drains are sealed off with packed ice and snow.  Street flooding expected.  Meanwhile, it is pothole hell.  The roads are in deplorable condition.  Road crews can't keep up with the temporary patching  Tire dealers and wheel repair shops are busier than one-armed wallpaper hangers (Fife's timeless description) with blowouts and bent/broken rims.  Bent suspension components?  That too.  Wife wants her car washed so that it can look exactly the same post wash as pre wash by the time I get home.  Bang Head

"You promised to get my car washed!"  "I did."  "No you didn't, it looks exactly the same, putrid."  "I told you it would."  Then why didn't you simply do something to avoid all of the wet roads and puddles on the way home?"  "I tried, but all of the flatbed towtrucks were tied up hauling off the pothole victim's cars."  Bang Head

NavyJack....... Thumbs Up let me join the others by congratulating your son for this major step forward in his life.  You must be beyond proud of his decision and even more proud he is following in Dad's footsteps.  Gulfport Miss is where my FIL was stationed about 68 years ago during WWII prior to getting shipped off to the Pacific theater.  While living in the Chicago area, I am certain you spent some time watching the planes take off and land at the Glenview Naval Air Station before it was closed and the land sold off.

Buckeye.........just to be on the safe side through all of this, Happy B-Day.  59?  Ouch!!!!!!!!!!  Whistling

Brutus.........sorry to hear about Char's valiant but unsuccessful attempt yesterday.  Today will be a better day.  Even with this extraction she will have more wisdom than you.  Smile, Wink & Grin

8N........that was some great news on the wifey's check up.  One repair down and one to go.  PT?  She's got the drill down too.  Prayers for continued progress.

DonB........your family dynamic sounds exactly like mine.  It is never about yesterday's major victory (that receives no recognition). Always about what remains on the list.  I had to chuckle about your ingenuity with the transistor radio.  I still use daily a Magnavox, circa 1962, AM only!!!!!!!!  A call to the dealer will also get you the unlock code......had to do that with my daughter's car after she got a new battery and didn't have the unlock code.  I really like your Climax (?!).  They are just as fascinating to watch In person because of all of the driver action.

"The White Mountain Central Railroad at Clarks Trading Post in Lincoln, New Hampshire operates Climax #6 built in 1920 (builder number 1603) on its tourist line. Clarks also has the last remaining Shay in New England. The Shay is non-operational but in storage. Clark's also has a 32 ton Heisler Locomotive that is awaiting staybolt replacement."

Chief......if you are feeling left out, SJ and I still have tons of free snow we can ship to you.  We even have a vast array of colors still available in stock and ready for immediate shipping.  Classic Arctic White.  Grimey Grey.  Dog Poop Brown.  And several shades of our famous Dog Pee Yellow.  When ordering, please specify if you also want our available but optional special Northern blend that also contains sand, salt, and cinder. Laugh

Later, gang.

Mornin' Fellas.

Needless to say I'm quite disappointed with a certain establishment in Georgia. Seriously, these things shipped from Lionel TWO MONTHS AGO!!!!!!

Need to get back to work... will check back later.

LAZ - nice layout. Are you able to run all of the scale steamers on all the loops, or are you restricted to outside loop opperation for the Big Guns?

BRENT,

All the loops are 0-72 fasttrack.  All the switches are 0-72 switches.  One section of curve off of one siding is 0-48, because I ran out of the 0-72 curves.  But it is where I will have the Trackmobile jockeying loads so it won't matter much.
