Highway is clear and just damp.  DOT did their job several times.  Even where we walked in deep snow earlier has melted out.  Progress Energy rep just called checking on Rolesville.  Said the power outages were in the Sandhills area [Southern Pines and Pinehurst area] due to the snow being so wet and hanging in the pines.  Windy tomorrow so hope it doesn't break pines before it melts and falls out.  State and local government is closed for Christmas tomorrow so not a lot of traffic early.  Sending it on up the coast.  BTW: glad it did not come inland farther.  Radar earlier this AM showed "red" off the coast and moving north to NJ/NY and MA.  If we had gotten the main part, would be burried.  Chuck put a little too much powder in the cannon and over shot us. Snowing here at Exit 8 NJTP....

Princess and I went to the movies and saw "Black Swan", since she is a dancer.   Enjoyable.

There was a dusting of snow when we got there at 1200 and 2 inches at 220.  Visiting plans are off and just got called for stand by at the firehouse.  Supposed to have foor and movies, but I may just hang tight here with the family, 'specially since the Princess is here.

Wind is now picking up a bit, Princess is excited as she hardly EVER sees snow, I treated here to donuts in the school parking lot.

Glad everyone had a great Christmas.

I'll check back later!

Rich

Snowing and sticking at exit 77, forcast is for 12" to 24".  I for one say "BRING IT ON!."

Well it sounds like most had a MERRY CHRISTMAS. We did and I know Hudson#685 did as his wife (my sister) asked my to by for him A Christmas Story train set. It's his favorite movie and he probably knows it line by line. It came about a week before Christmas and I wanted to test it out many times, but I resisted the urge.

cnw1995 -  I know the feeling you had with your bearded dragon! I'm glad everything went fine as we did that for my son some 15 years ago with a lizard. My wife didn't sleep to well during those times as we hid it in our bedroom!

fifedog - As you're getting this white stuff before me I expect an update hourly! lol

First time since 1947 did NC have snow on Christmas day.  Still snowing.  More than forecasted.  Everything is deep in snow.  Trucks plow it off and it just covers it over.  Down east where I am from [at the farm], they are getting even more than us.  Sending it north to Fifey to drive in tomorrow while he works [wrecks and more wrecks].  On up to all those in NY and NJ in blizzard conditions.  Then Jack.  Getting even for me having snow.

No white Christmas for us (Fine with me). A dusting today. Most of it going down to the VA-NC line. Trying to fill up the Chief's lake.

We had 28 people here on Christmas: kids and spouses, grand kids and spouses, and great grand kids. Had a great time.

Good Morning

26 and cloudy, no new snow

I think us old guys will always remember the Santa Baby song. I suspect today will be quiet as our little family were all together yesterday. What a wonderful thing memories are, watching the kids and grandkids enjoy christmas.

Have a great day and chief enjoy your white christmas.

Mornin' boys.  Mornin' English.  It's 30, and not one flake here yetDots - Sign  Wifey and I are a little under the weather (thinkin' mine was Drinks related).  Had a very nice Christmas day.  My family pretty much outfitted me with a new wardrobe from NAUTICA Cool.  I guess they were trying to bring my style into the millenium, but I was thinking parachute pants and valore v-necks were gonna make a comeback.  Only train-related item was a Hallmark train from my partner.  Best moment for me is when fifepup played his new acoustic guitar, with me on the uke, and the littlest princess singing "Santa Baby".

Only thing on tap today is the RAVENS-BROWNS match-up.  And, perhaps a few passes with the snow-shovel.  Back to work tomorrow night.

Laz,

For the first time in six or seven years, I did not receive a lump of coal in my stocking for Christmas.  Needless to say, the Chief's influence has diminished or I have been exceedingly good this year.  I will post a few photos later of my outstanding gift.  It will knock your socks off.

Chuck,

What a great way to put snow into Roseyville by bringing it up from the south instead of from Ohio.  Of course, it reduces the amount by twenty inches, but it gives them more than enough to whine about for the next year or two.  (Note that the whine has already commenced.  See posting above.)

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a cold 26 degrees. No new snow last night. Going up to 32 today.

Today is an easy day. I have a few chores to do and some paperwork. Then, I will relax in the train room. Need to do some dusting.

I hope everyone down South is enjoying the beautiful snow they got for Christmas.

Dining car is here for the usual breakfast.

Y'all have a great Sunday.

Snohio coming down.  Roads covered.  This will kill the after Christmas sales.  Pam said they should have just stayed closed on Sunday and do them on Monday anyway.  Will sit home, watch TV and read my new CTT that came Christmas Eve.  Finn has been out.  Lucy, Burg and Neddles are smart and curled up asleep.  Think I will reclinerize a while.  Then get up and cook fried bolonia, egg and cheese sandwiches [on toasted bread].

Fifey, sending you some of this stuff.  Jack, hope to share with you too.  Rich and Hudson, blizzard conditions up your way.

Later.

Aloha. Glad to see so many others had a 'White Christmas!'  Got to get up in a few hours to serve at church. Not sure how many will be there. Santa was good. The bearded dragon was successfully unveiled to the youngest. The bride surprised me with a few nice train magazines. Yes

 ChiefEagles:

SNOW now sticking to the ground.  Still saying 5 to 10 inches by tomorrow night.

Now on the NS ABA units.  I put a want to buy on OGR.  Got prices of $2,000 to $4,000.  I laughed.  Now if you notice your newer CTT, Williams is reproducing them for around $390.  Buy an ERR kit and upgrade and I can save money.

LAZ, that was a steal at your price.  Wish I could find a set at that price.

Jesse Stone movie coming on at 8.

Later.

Chief,  Payback is tough, hey!  If you notice those snow flakes are falling west to east, those are coming from the clouds that did not get emptied out here.

Sorry Charlie, this one is coming from the South.  Cold air from the North.

Good Christmas nite to all

Well besides the usual lump of coal I did get a train for christmas. My daughter gave me a Lego Harry Potter train to build. Should be fun to assemble with winter here. We had a very nice day with the kids. No new snow just the frozen stuff we got 2 weeks ago. Banilla is ready if anybody still has the strength for a Tardis ride.
