Thunderstorms before dawn this morning.  Turned out to be sunny and about 60 again today.  However, the temperature has been falling all day.  Feels like high 20's at the moment.

Happy New Year, all.

Chief - that sounds like an interesting find.  My aunt had a similar unit when I was in grade school.  Have no idea what happened to it though.

We spent the day in the kitchen making a whole bunch of snack foods, spreads, dips, and such.  Then we spent the evening watching TV and consuming the goodies - most of which are so good we can only have them once a year.  Plenty left over for tomorrow's bowl games.

All for now.

Chief,

If you are going to use it, put a fresh needle in it.  I am paranoid about records and needles now after the research I did.  I usually change the needle in Talking Stations every 3-6 plays now just as a precaution.

Just got home from work, which was extremely busy this afternoon.  Still cranking out resumes hoping for a real job.  No real plans for tomorrow other than rebuilding the smoke unit in my 342AC and maybe replacing the gaskets in the 314AW.

Does anyone have any experience with Flip camcorders?  I just picked up a Flip UltraHD to use for videos instead of my Kodak M341 digital camera.

Big storm came through today with high winds, tornados, and hail.  No damage at my house, but saw some houses on the news that looked like they exploded!

Dad is doing great today - feels a lot better and no pain.  Char is doing well - made some of her favorite party foods for dinner.  I'll slow cook a roast tomorrow too.

Lost power while I was talking with RT.  Now I got smart and pulled the old UPS out of my computer desk in back and put it on the modem and router.  That's the way I had it set up for years and never had all these problems of losing connection.  This thing is pretty old though, I better check and see if they have replacement batteries for it or maybe replace it in the future some time.

Prayers for healing and safety and for all of us to have a Happy New Year!

Tardis is ready - let's hit the road!

PS - that's a heck of a find, Chief!  Those records are worth their weight in gold or more!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Sun came out and turned real warm.  Got everything transferred to roll top except computer, printer and modem.  Can't or I will mess up digital phone per TWC.  They are coming tomorrow [yes tomorrow] from 1 to 3 to do the move.  Fine with me.

Victrola is cabinet type.  Records are probably worth as much as the Victrola.  Brought desk that handmade by Great-grandfather.  Has hand written and typed [surprised about typed] deeds dating before the War Of Northern Agression andsome right after.  Also letter from my Great-grandfather and his brother while stationed on the Outer Banks telling about the Yanks about to attack and etc.

Going out to dinner with Fred, wife, SIL, BIL and Wifey.

Happy New Years.

Good afternoon all,

It is almost tropical here in SE Indiana with temps near 60.  I went outside and picked up sticks while wife went "easter egg" hunting for the pooch.  Ran the 384E last night in the back room.  Will be having friends over for supper tonight to ring in the New Year.  I want to take this time to wish everyone on the pot a Happy New Year!

My Wishes for 2011:

All the ailments for the pot people and their families go away

SFR and AJF Racing both get wins

"My" soccer girls get a sectional title

US women win World Cup

Someone other than Team Red wins an oval race

I write some more train articles

TBIL anytime.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Good morning all, Cold here last night with temp down to 35.

Took wife to ER yesterday to get sore rib checked out.  Turned out to be a strained muscle or something.  Anyway good news it is not something worse.

Chief, that old Victrolla sounds great!  Does it have one of those big horns where the sound comes from or is it in the cabinet?  Bet those records are interesting too.  I can imagine Rudy Vallee or somebody like that singing on one.  Lots of good jazz on some of those old records too.  I heard a guy play one of these machines at a jazz festival and was impressed with how good the sound was for something that old.

Some yahoo running a jack hammer in the neighborhood all morning today.  I walked by the house but could not tell what was going on.  Looked like the house was unoccupied.  Unless it is an emergency, they sure picked a heck of a time to do work like that on New Years Eve.

Picked up my new TV table yesterday and son helped me unload from the car last night.  I got a little short on breath for a while.  I have chronic bronchitis and use oxygen at night only but have not needed it in the day time so far.  Anyway it bugged me.  I took a walk this morning and my breathing seemed OK.  Just hope I don't have to go on oxygen all the time.  So far so good.  I am going to see the doctor soon so I will tell him about all this stuff.  Normally my blood oxygen level has been running at least 96 most of the time which is pretty good for me.  I think being overweight doesn't help me either.  Got to get back on the diet.

Happy New Year all,

Ray

Aloha. 52 out today! Great temp to end the year. Ran the 248 and its coaches, and the 41 and a few cars yesterday. Boy, is it ever great 'therapy' to run the old ones. 41 really sounds like its grinding its heart out, but everything checks out - by far the loudest engine I've ever heard. Might take the youngest to see the Narnia movie and then pizza with the rest of the family.

Boy, that Victrola sounds like a find. I have a few old 'tube' radios I like to fire up every now and then. Still work fine.   Happy New Year to you all!

Sunny and 42 going to 45 at exit 77 (GSP).

Still like a winter wonderland from that 25 inches of snow last Sunday!

Chief - Sounds like you have some nice finds from your grandfather! It reminds me of when we cleaned out my grandfathers place 30+ years ago. In the back of his detached unheated garage I found a 1920 RCA Senora Minuet. Now we visited my grandfather often and even though I was 20 at the time I never saw this before! I took it home, opened it up, cranked it up and it still worked. Who knows how long it was out there! Remember this was bought in 1920. It cost $175.00! I know all these details because the paperwork, manuals and receipt, was still in the bottom draw! I still play it once in a while as the kids get a treat out of it (I kinda do too).

Hope all have a safe and happy new year and a healthy road to recovery and continued recovery for all.

Hi GUYZ,

23 here going up to 46.  Going out again with flintlock this afternoon.  Nothing but squirrels yesterday but a nice day to sit in the woods.  Today gonna wear small game clothing because of this warmth.

BRENT, things will work out, seems they always do.  Prayers for YUZ TWO.

BRUTUS, continued prayers.

Stay frosty,

Cloudy and 44, stayed above 32 last nite and we did get some snow melt. Grannny says we are not going out tonight but us husbands know things can change. If not guess I'll look for someone on chat. Stay safe...S.J.

Morning.  Feel good after a good night's sleep.  Now for some coffee.  Go to transfer the computer from my computer "desk" to my Granddad's old roll top desk I brought from the house.  Keyboard on desk top will be a little high but that will be OK.  Got big RCA Victroller that is self standing cabinet.  Open top doors and speaker is in there.  Lift top to put records on turntable.  Side has crank.  Open bottom doors and record storage.  Has lots of real old records in it.  Best part, it works.  Mostly cloudy and might be rain in the forecast [not sure as slept through the weather last night].  Real warm compared to past days.  Hope all have a great new year.  Later

Partly sunny and about 60 here today.  The snow is gone.  However, it is supposed to be in the 20's by tomprrow night.

Laz - you've got to remember that the other side was also using flintlocks.  I think our success was more in how we used them rather than how well they worked.

Our youngest son arrived today.  Not sure how long he will be staying, but we are glad to see him.  Our oldest son had an abcess on his neck drained today.  Wisely, he and his wife canceled their trip to come and see us this weekend.

Picked up my Coca-Cola Christmas boxcar at the LHS today.  Glad that I did not have plans to use it on a Christmas layout since it got here after Christmas.  Thought breifly about wrapping it up and giving it to my wife for her birthday present today.  Figured it would not go over very well, so I went with the Tetras game for her Nintendo DS instead.

Prayers for healing and safe travel.

All for now.

Thanks guys - Dad came through the surgery today fine.  They removed the hardware from his knee and put in a spacer.  He'll be in a leg brace with antiobiotics until it is all healed up, then they will redo the knee replacement.  Char's bone density test was A-OK.  Her numbers were okay, but potassium is low. The reduced her steroids and ordered physical therapy for her too.

Got my new CTT and looks like a nice issue.  After we got home today, we went to the eye glasses place and got fitted for our new prescriptions.  3 of us needed new glasses (sigh), but we figured it would go that way so have set aside money for it.  Then used some money my folks' gave us for Christmas to get a new microwave.  The old one is getting flakey esp after my daughetr cooked some tinfoil in it.  BUT - after we got it home, I checked online and this model from LG apparently has a pretty high failure rate after a year or 2.  I might take it back tomorrow, we'll see.

Chewy needs a walk, so we'll go warm up the Tardis and head out soon - BARK!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
