Good morning to you all. I haven't been on this thread in quite some time but I wanted to see if some of you who know a lot about Marx trains could/would help out a fellow on the Classic Toy Trains forum who is attempting to find a production date for a Marx locomotive. I have misplaced my collector's guide, so I'm unable to assist him. He posted several days ago but has had no responses yet.

Mornin' boys.  Vacation: Day 3.  Getting started on my Christmas shopping.  What does everyone want again...? Confused

Just a Legacy System this year Fife I have enough trains for now. Thanks for asking thou Whistling

Morning all well its lunch time for me here at work lunch is 11 - 11:30 for us and if I work over which I'm doing tonight my supper time is 3:30 to 4P.M. Just can't really eat much when its like that then when I get home at 8:30 I'm starving can't understand guess as I like 8-9 period for breakfast and like 1-2 for lunch and around 6 or so for supper.

Guess when I retire a lot will change lol but if I have my way that's 14 years from now as then I'll be 70.

We'll see with how my health holds out. Do fairly well tight now so I hoping to do that. Will temporary file for SS when I hit 62.5 so wife can file off mine ( if that's still going on then) and then repay it what I get and cancel my SS and keep working to 70 to get max out of it.

Hope all have a good weekend its rainy and in the mid 40's here today

Morning all. Back from church mtg. Sunny but a brisk 11 degrees. Haven't killed the 'hidden lizard' yet - nor has this gift been discovered. Bride is happy because everyone's home. Hope to try to run all the tinplate Marx cars later today.  Fife, beer for me too.  Good luck, Chief. Sounds like a stake-out's in order.

Good morning everyone.  Been busy still.  We have a number of the inlaws coming over today.  Got Turkey brining in the cooler, made desert and wife is making the rest of the meal.  With a little prayer and patience, we will get through this.  Put up some of the wife's presents (drapes and wind chimes), the rest, she wears.

Chief, sorry to hear that you are having such issues.  One of the guys at work has digital trail cameras that are infra-red, so no flash and he has them hidden.  Then, he can see what has been going on with his properties.  He also has a downloader that allows him to copy the photos and see them as well, so he can see if he has a monster buck to look for, a meaty doe, or a trespasser that needs gettin!

Laz, sending you a email message.  Found something you may be interested in.

Take care,
Dennis

Hey All

Really running late here, according to all weather forecasts, were going to need snorkels here soon.  Pineapple Express coming in, only this one is 3,000 miles of solid moisture headed our way resembling a fire hose and nozzle pointed "dis way".  (Need to watch that river channel behind our house, ConfusedConfused)

Summary of weeks events -

- Helped in the construction of a new layout.

- Did some maintenance and "tweaking" on an existing layout

- Did disassembly and initial breakdown of a new display Christmas layout, at a mall..  (will explain more later)

Pretty busy day - back to work after a day off due to the ice storm.  We had a party for my friend Greg who is retiring at the end of the month - it was a surprise and went great.  He was really thrilled and we all had a good time.  Did most of the Christmas shopping on the way home from work, but it was crowded.  Picked up some food for the family on the way, but I just got a salad after all the heavy eating the past few days.  Killed some zombies and now having a nice chat with SJ.

Ray - nice story man and good insight!

Tardis is ready, just have to find the Old Mills, I know I had some around here somewhere.....

Back home.  Still smiling. Confused  Most of the business folks are real great.  Chamber leadership is OK.  One staff person that most thinks can walk on water is horrible, backstabing, untruth rumor starting and most unorganized.  Can't get rid of her.

Train room is next on my list.  Had to go tonight and put eyebolt on upper pole and lock cable.  Seems someone drove in, sawed up a tree across the path the famous golfcart uses, cut down some more trees for clearnace [including one with posted sign on it] and drove out with Fred's trail camera [would given us a photo of the culpritSleep].  Affraid someone is going to get to mess in their britches before this is over. Good evening

Stayed overcast and 26 for most of the day. Still no snow melt. We did a little shopping today at Toys R, wow it was crowded. Most items did not have prices on them, state says if its for sale a price must be on the item. Don't know why they get away without doing it. Target stores here do the same thing but at least they have scanners. No trains today but I did run the Hogwarts X yesterday..Banilla is ready for the thingy....S.J.

Was terrible here today bright and sunny and about 65 degrees. Could barely stand it.  Even drove home with my window open partially in the truck.

Not much going on today. worked my 8 hours I work the weekend but then off and off next weekend got lucky this year off for christmas. the hospital is down on patient count which I say is good as that means to me more are home with loved ones than here in the hospital.

Still prayers for our troops that are overseas at this time of year. Been there done that and somebody needs to but wish it would come to a time we didn't.

Not much else happening on train front.

Jim (Probe) know what you mean when you say all your flyer money for the time is spent. My O gauge money is at moment spent. Although I see a few items I really like lol.

Hope all have a Good weekend.

Evening to All,

It is a cold blustery day, but wind is dying down.  Kids got off early yesterday but had one child miss the bus and had to wait with him until 4:30 so no early dismissal for me.  Not as bad as last Friday when I was with 2 kids until 6:30 PM.

Staff holiday party tonight that was postponed last Friday.  Should be fun, but fewer people due to schedule conflicts with the postponement.

Most of the shopping is done but I need to pick up a couple of last minute items for the Mrs.  Ordered her a new TIVO because our old one is not compatible with switch to digital cable. Had to order a M-Card from the cable company that they must install on the TIVO to allow the new box to unscramble digital signal. Hope the cable provider will call to get it installed soon.

I've been running the Standard Gauge set under the tree.

Good morning all,

Lousy weather is still with us here on the left coast and more predicted.  Light rain this morning but heavier stuff to come.   You guys in the East will probably get it after it leaves here.

Checked out  my MTH PS4 yesterday for battery issues.  Charged for 15 hours on an MTH charger and now it works fine. Don't have green Crescent cars but running scale GGD Pullman cars instead.

Will skip TCA Christmas party tomorrow because we have tickets for Christmas show at local college in afternoon.  However, I will help the wife put together Christmas food baskets at our church for distribution tomorrow since I will be home in the morning.

Chief, sounds like your kitty has a good home and getting along fine with the dogs.

Have a good day,

Ray

Aloha all. Working from home. Not going back to the office until 'next year.'  Daughter gets home soon. Or rather have to go pick her up from her Amtrak-Metra journey. What a saga - 2 hours late so far.  Picked up the youngest's big Christmas gift - a tiny 'bearded dragon' lizard. Hidden away hopefully. Tried to run all my Marx cars, Hornby cars and K-line ore cars in a single train last night. Will try double-heading.Big Smile Watching pastor's 4 kids under 7 tonight with the bride so he and his wife can get a night out. Always interesting. Big Smile

Mornin' boys.  Mornin' English.  Clear and 21 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Only got an inch of the white stuff.  Seems like the troops in SNOHIZO have their cannon dialed in, so Chief, might be best just to move the whole town of Roseyville somewheres else. IdeaCool

cheapclassics - That's exactly why I stuff the reseipt in the engine box.  Good luck.

AF53 - Nice moment.

And thanks everyone for clearing up the obits scenario.  Guess I should drink my Coffee before posting. Embarrassed

Good morning everyone.  Got a busy day with work, then kid #1's Christmas party at school, then, kid #2's Christmas program, and then home to finish working on house for weekend guests.  Not complaining, just taking stock of what is ahead for me today.

Ray, yeah, they are a blessing and it is up to us to foster the hobby to pass along to the next generation.  Good luck.

Have to head to work.
God Bless,

I never would have guessed!

Over the past few weeks my 23 year old son has been asking me "hey dad, why don't you get those big trains down from the attic?" meaning my G scale set. That was a set I bought when he was 7 and it ran under our Christmas tree, along with my Marx Wells Fargo set, for about 13 years until the engine just wasn't working right. The motor would sound like it was spinning but the wheels didn't turn much. So about three years ago I bought a Lionel Pennsylvania Flyer set and that's been under our tree since.

Over the past year I've expanded me American Flyer collection. From clockwork sets from the 20's, an electic set from the 20's, I've built a set from the 40's and 60's while expanding my existing 50's collection. So you could say there's plenty to choose from.

But when that G scale set came down that's all he paid attention to! Lesson learned. No matter the cost, age of the set or value of a set, sometimes that's not relevant! As I am with my fathers American Flyer set from 1953, that we shared as I grew up and is now mine since he passed away, he loves that set he grew up with.

Who's luckier than me?

All the best,

Ray

Sorry Mike - hope you get it straightened out Sad

Well, I had scheduled today off intending to take Char to the doctor for an appointment and maybe get to the office for a few hours.  We got hit with freezing drizzle and freezing fog overnight and this morning, so I was glad I had the day off anyway.  We didn't get out, although I did "salt" the driveway and clear off the windshield on the truck, defrost it, etc.  They had the main roads cleared, but the side roads were bad and in our subdivision, a firetruck slid down the hill (this was on the news) and hit several mailboxes and an AMEREN box about 2 streets over.  We have a big hill too, so glad we made the choice to stay inside and just relax today.

Nice chats with SJ and Charlie tonight.  Tardis will be ready shortly, just have to take it easy getting out to the launch pad - don't want to slip and fall!

[Edit = I had heard it hit cars, but it only hit boxes and electric box]
