Dennis,

Just a thought, I have always admired those of you in the medical profession for having to get by all the emotional issues you have to deal with, and not let them affect you.  And especially this time of the year, when the "natural" aspects of life just seem even more intensified.  Just remember ALL the many people who have you and your staff have been able to help.  God Bless!

Sunny and 37 at exit 77 this morning.

Been running trains every night under the tree the past few nights with my sons Lionel surrounded by my dads '53 American Flyer.

Jack - Every year I hear stories of people struggling with thier lights. Seems to me that with me staying with the old C7 lights all these years has been a wise choice.

Blownout - You're so right, we all should reconsider what we eat and when to exercise.

Fife - If I knew you wanted to sacrifice something I would have sent you my son's 2 new birds from his room! They are WAY too noisy in the morning!Confused

Hope everyone has a good day,

Ray

Good morning all,

Dennis, you and your staff do the best you can.  As long as you can look yourself in the mirror and tell yourself that for all the patients in your care, you will be ok.  Sometimes He has purposes for outcomes we cannot understand.  It was about five years ago this time of year I had my "snowblower manicure".  At the time, there was a lot of pain (and I still have flashbacks to that day), but there were many positives that arose from that incident.

Keep on training,

Good Morning,

Thanks for the rafts and preservers!  I don't recall ever seing this much rain here.  We are up to 6", and suppose to be worse the next 2 days!  Ray is getting even more than I am, but all the run off that they don't control comes right down to me.  The flood control channel behind us is 3/4 full, but there are white caps and the water is moving FAST.  Looks like a Class 4 or 5 White Water Rafting adventure.  And the wind is suppose to be picking up as well.  Forecast shows moisture stretching all the way from California to Asia, that's something.  Major concern when this stuff gets over the Rockies, this is going to be bad as far as winter storms on the rest of the country.  (Bob could be stuck on the mountain, probably the only dry one around.)

Spent time in the Train Room, repaired an KLine operating billboard, a Steelers water tank, electrified a Christmas Tree for Towne Centre.  Been doing some research on a PS-1, 4 truck shay.  Friend of mine has one and recently a drive shaft broke.  The operators manual says its O-42 compatible, but it was on a O-42 layout and had just come off a curve and going bact straight and stopped in its tracks.  Interesting that all the Shays built since which are 3 trucks are O-72 for 3 rail, and O-44 for 2 rail.  I think the track is too tight for this guy.

Have the national news on, and even though we are getting drenched, they make it a lot worse than actual.  "Thousands of people without electricity"?  All of the telecasts are from the perimeter around LA at the base of the mountains and undeveloped sparsley wooded national parks.  Makes NEWS though.  There are a handful of situations where trees have fallen on private property.  I am sure the mudslides are coming though with the ground as saturated as it is.  By the way, just saw a map and the weather is headed toward Vegas, then Salt Lake.  That's where the flooding is going to be bad, good place to avoid.

RT, havn't seen "hide nor hair" of any of the neighbor girls, think they must be hibernating.

BlowOut - Glad to hear your health is improving, keep up the good work!

Hope everyone has a great day, think I will work on an AF Water Tank I have.  See if I can get the spout to work.

Take Care

Don

Good morning everyone.  Has been a tough day/night.  Long day with a number of ups and downs.  While most times, our outcomes are very good(well above Nat'l avg), but sometimes, things just go down that are beyond our control...more evidence we answer to a higher authority.

Jack, funny you should mention that...we have spoken of building a large addition to the house.  We shall see.  Right now, there is a lot to maintain, so to add the 800sq.ft. we are looking at may be put off to another day.

Both kids are sick, but daughter is much worse than son.  Will be taking her to the pediatrician in less than an hour.  Just something we all have to deal with.  At least the kids will not be missing school.  Kids are resilient, so I expect a quick recovery.  Want everyone healthy by Christmas.

Gotta run.  May each of you have a blessed day.

Good Mornin' Ya'll From Snowy Cape Ann Taxachussetts,

Was hoping for a glimpse of the lunar eclipse but the overcast skies wacked that idea.  Fife.....your hired!  Thumbs Up  Sweet layout you made for your wife. And all of that was from a little of this and a little of that pulled out of your overstock?!?

Major technical difficulties encountered last night with the Christmas tree.  If I am elected President, I promise to implement a total importation ban on those freakin' white lights that turn what should be an enjoyable holiday decorating activity into a total unadulterated nightmare.  Had tested each strand prior to installation which gave the appearance of progress, then it all went down hill. Took a couple of hours to totally iron out, finally had success by swapping out old strands with new ones.  I am tempted to throw the lights out each year and start with new ones.  Bang Head

Had our first snowfall yesterday, quite late for us.  4 inches here and 6-12 on Cape Cod.  Snow showers continue.

DougM.....is it possible that the Bears will score a first round bye?  Or that they could play the Patriots for all of the marbles?  Fife may have something to say about that.  The Bears' success may present me with a real moral dilemma, who to root for in the big one.  On an unrelated note, while I have a great deal of respect for what Brett Favre has achieved in his career, his concussion last night may finally put an end the circus he created with his neverending string of retirements.

Blownout Cylinder........glad to hear you are on the mend.  Serious stuff.

Gotta run, later gang.

Jack.

Mornin' boys.  Sunny & 28 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Did not get up at 0319 hrs for the Sleep eclipse.  Couldn't find a live chicken to sacrifice anyhow...Sigh

blownout cylinder - Glad you are ok now.

laz/dougnotta - The layout has been a nice "greeting card" to the GlenArm community.  Amazingly, it is the older gals that have been coming in to oogle over it.  Stories of their fathers setting up trains for Christmas have been shared, as well as a few tears.  Lots of folks wanna see it back next year...but not everyone...

Good morning all,

One of these days, the guys with the Snohio cannons will aim them away from SE Indiana.  We got pounded again last night.  Will be going in later today as carpool person who is driving wanted to wait a little.  OK by me so I do not have to drive.  Long day at work, but got a lot done.   Hope to get a lot more done today.  I had the regular fare on the dining car for breakfast before sending it on to "Points East".  TBIL anytime and I can drive.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Evening all.  Cold but not as bad as earlier in the week.  Cat is in the house.  We now have another one.  Silver gray one with sharp pointed face.  Pam called it some name.  It has taken up residence under garage and feeding from the self feeder.

Put up new trail camera today with LOCK.  Also no flash buy infrared.  Will take photo of anyone coming up to cable and/or their vehicle.  Also heard "Skeet" is out of prison again.  This conicides with 2 break-ins in subdivision at 2 AM this morning.  Folks were in the house.  Got finger prints.  One guy heard the break-in and thought it was his dog.  Burg and Finn would have him backed in a corner with Lucy being cheerleader.

Partly sunny and mid 40's today.

Join my wife at the health club for PT?  Not a bad idea, but it sounds like work.  Besides, she is going to the high priced medical rehab type of outfit.  Good people there though - that is where I was going earlier this fall to work the kinks out of my knee.

Ton O stuff I want to get through at work before the holidays.  Looks like I need to start picking and choosing 'cause it all is not going to get done.  Today just flew by.

All for now.

Afternoon to All,

Unusual for me to be home at this point in the day.  Came home to let the cable tv technician in so we could setup new Tivo which is one of the Mrs. big Christmas presents.  Cable provider switched to all digital signal so our old Tivo was not liking the change.  With the new one, we no longer need a separate set top box for the cable so we actually eliminated a remote.  Now we only have one for Tivo and one for DVD player, not too bad.

Be glad when the week is over,  kids are getting restless, teachers are getting cranky, you get the picture.

Take care,

Mitch

Good morning all,  more rain overnight but we are getting a small break this morning.  However, it looks like it will rain any minute.  Forcast calls for heavy rain tomorrow and Wednesday.

Don, I pumped my pool down too yesterday.  I took it down about 5 inches to make room for more rain.  Also have to pump rain water out of a little dressing room beside the pool every day.  The paper says we only get this kind of rain about every 10-15 years.  They ought to be getting plenty of snow in the Sierras.  That's good for the water supply.  Rain just started up again as I am writing this.  Don, we must be getting more here than where you are.  I estimate about 6 inches so far.

Neighbor's 5 Collie dogs have shelter but they still run around in the yard.  They look like drowned rats right now.

Will try to get out sometime this week for some shopping.

Later,

Aloha all. Looking for a bit of snow tonight. Jack, I'm not that bright. I thought it was the Sunday Night Game and spent quite a while wondering why I'm seeing the Pats-Pack before I retrieved the paper and remembered it was tonight. Fortunately, a certain person remains unaware. . . Wink That said, can't wait to see the Big Bears Game out in the weather. Always glad to watch them play outdoors while being indoors. Got a brainstorm for moving some track around with the layout. May or may not try it. Big Smile

Mornin' Ya'll From Overcast and High 20s Taxachussetts,

Yesterday was a wonderful day, albeit not spent at home.  Christmas party at our dog trainer's facility up in NH, didn't get home until close to 11PM.  Attendance hit an unexpected 50 people, and the mood was so positive and festive.  You've heard that many hands make light work, and such was the case for the party----before, during, and after.  Pot luck and BYO, and the spread was way over the top!!!! Dinner  I was thinking of Laz and his recent loss of his faithful Collie companion because some of these dog folks attending the party are expecting puppies between now and the end of the year......except the pups are American Staffordshire Terriers and German Shepherds. Smile, Wink & Grin

Chief....I am still not liking what I continue to hear from you about the sick person/people who continue to vandalize around your surrounds. Angry  Whoever it is, they are not right in the head, nor do they share your morals and ethics.  If you need to add a Doberman to your pack for personal protection purposes, let me know.  I'll send Maximus down to go with you on your patrols.  Just don't accidentally shoot him or feed him grits.

DougM....you were a sly dog yesterday, telling your wife da Bears would be playing.  Wives are usually pretty flexible about letting some things slide so that the man of the house can watch his team zero in on a playoff spot.  How did you ultimately explain to her last night that the game isn't until tonight? Whistling

SJ must be way behind on his Sunday afternoon naps as his 4-10 Lions have now won two in a row.  Soon to be SJdaGrump. Smile, Wink & Grin  If you look at their dismal record you have to take into consideration the strength of the teams they have played this season:  they lost two games by a total of 9 points to the 9-4 Bears; lost by 3 to the 10-4 Eagles; split two games with the 8-6 Packers; lost by 5 to the 9-5 Giants; lost by 3 to the 10-4 jets.  7 0f their 10 losses were by 10 points or less.  They look promising.

Fife must be pumped after yesterdays game when his 10-4 Ravens held off the 10-4 defending Super Bowl champ Saints, are tied with Pittsburgh for the NFC North (record -wise) who lost to the Jets, and are in primo shape for getting a playoff birth. The D stepped up when they had to.  I HATE THE JETS!!!!!!

MikeC......."year end close" stuff at work around the holidays is no fun, with deadlines that don't move.  Bang Head  Hang in there.

DonB and RaySP.....we all thought you two hired scantily-clad pool girls to do all of that swimming pool maintenace for you? Whistling  Hope the mudslides for which CA is infamous don't rear their ugly heads.

8N.....that was great news overall on the wifey's back checkup.  One major mountain scaled and two lesser ones to go (PT and knee).  Will you be joining her at the health club during PT?  SJ, Spanky, and Chuck are at the ready to give you some pointers on health club protocols.  Whistling  Easy for me to say, but it sounds like she's made of the right stuff and with your help will continue her march forward. Thumbs Up

Dennis.....when do you break ground on the addition to your house that you will need when you break out all of your 3 rail treasures and come to realize you will need a 50 X 50 layout with 5 main lines and 10 sidings to accommodate all of your stuff?  Laugh

Later, gang!

Good morning all,

It is cloudy in SE Indiana.  It will be an interesting three days at work with year end close.  First time thru this.  Have to get done by end of Wednesday and Tuesday looks to be absolutely treacherous weather wise.   Hhhhhhmmmmmmm......  I had bacon and biscuits on the dining car for breakfast before sending it on to "Points East".  TBIL anytime, but we may have to ground the Tardis if the weather gets too bad.  Not worth a wreck this close to Christmas.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Good morning guys.  Up early even though I am on call.  We have some specialized equipment we use on folks who have damage to the heart muscle.  Anyway, as of this morning, all our machines will be attached to patients and so I have to go an hour away to another hospital to get a "loaner".  Going to be a long two weeks of call!

We had that band I spoke of last week at our church yesterday.  The Annie Moses Band was very good.  Church was packed last night for the concert and a good number of folks were not from the church.  In fact, one of our cardiologists who is Jewish was there too.  It's all good!

Don, hope your weather clears and no damage to the abode.  We had two days of rain that cleared last night.  While we got nowhere near the rainfall you had, it was welcomed as the temps have dropped and our fruit trees needed a good soaking.  Hope they survive....deer hope so too!

Got a number of items in all train related too.  Yesterday, I got a Southern tractor trailer set in that I have not seen before.  Also, picked up some 72" switches for future layout expansion.  Need to finish what I have first though.

Left overs for breakfast is finished and now it is time to head out.  I do hope that each of you has a great day ahead.
God Bless,
Dennis
