Beauty of a day here. Walked to the Shedd Aquarium at lunchtime to visit with the fish. Enjoyed watching the Metra Electrics run in their IC canyons through Grant Park.

Good morning all, a little light rain before daylight today. Went to mass yesterday AM and visited with #1 son after church. He said he got a ticket for forgetting to turn on headlights on a brightly lit street. He had turned them off temporarily while parked to avoid shining through a restaurant window. Anyway, he admitted his mistake and took the ticket. Only bad part is now he has to go to traffic school to keep it off his record. If he didn't have bad luck, he wouldn't have any luck at all. The whole thing happened while he was on a mission to get his wife a birthday cake. Sometimes he reminds me of the poor soul character portrayed by Jackie Gleason.
Fifey, what issues of CTT is your layout in and what is the title of the article? I am behind on my reading and magazines are piling up.
Happy birthday Brutus Hope Char is doing better.

Good morning all,
It is a little warmer outside today; the high will be about 68. It was 49 when I went out for my morning run. Fortunately, it was not very windy this morning. The past two days have been very windy.
I have an annual report/assessment I need to finish at work. The deadline has passed (no fault of mine), and hopefully I will complete most of it today - as long as nothing else pops up.
CNW - I'm sure those diesel particulates have only made your lungs stronger.
S.J. - I can honestly say my grass has not grown in about two months. I feel as if I should run the mower over it just to be sure. Nah, I'm sure my wife will tell me when it needs to be cut.
Good day all,
Joe
Good morning everyone. Not much happening. Late case, so I am heading in later. Nice to see some folks checking in. Hope it was a great birthday Brutus!
Today is beautiful out. A bit brisk in the mid 50s, but supposed to hit mid 70s. It should be a relatively short work day for me, so I hope to get some work done on that building I am working on for the layout.
Hope each of you has a blessed dayDennis

Aloha all. Sunny and warmer today. Had a good day video-directing at our church services. Lotsa of babies being dedicated. Read the paper whilst watching a lackluster Bears win - though we'll take the victory, Laz! The paper was reporting on measuring diesel particulates from the commuter trains. Apparently on the trains is the worst air. Good thing I've been breathing it for 20 years. LOL. Glad you had a good day, Brutus. Welcome home from a good trip, SJ. Read the Christmas CTT on the ride in.
Good Morning
Sun and 32, going to 60.
I have grass to cut with the leaves on top, to chop. Also have a jaw doc. appointment. We had company for dinner yesterday and I ran some trains for them..NO PILEUPS. Have a great monday...S.J.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a cold 28 degrees. Going up to 60 today with sunshine.
Today is a busy day. Chores to do and a project to work on. Maybe I can relax, later. Not much new on the train subject.
Dining car is here with the usual for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Monday.

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 60s. Had a good conversation with Lucas and his GF last night. Hopefully, for the next year and a half (until he graduates), life will be settled for him (and for us!). Is the situation exactly the way we would like it....no, but considering all the alternatives, this one is tolerable. Thank you all for the support and perhaps in May of 2012, we will be celebrating another college graduation. On a side note yesterday, one of our deacons did his first baptism and it was for his grandson. Pretty cool. The soccer supper last night was nice as well. I had the regular fare on the dining car this morning before sending it on to "Points East". TBIL any time tonight. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Good evening all,
Happy Birthday Brutus!
We were up early today as the wife was cooking/baking the breakfast casserole and cinnamon rolls she prepped yesterday. After that, we went to Sunday school and church. In the afternoon I was able to complete my girder bridge and create water in the layout pond. These both were new experiences for me and I am decently pleased with the results. I will not win any realism or top modeler awards, but at least I did it myself. The family and I then went back to the church for family movie night. It was a fun time and I probably ate more popcorn than I should have.
I'm pretty tired so I'm off to bed.
Good night,
Thanks for the birthday wishes guys! It's really been a great and terrible year. Things are looking up and no small part of my support has been from all of you guys. I thank you guys for all the good wishes, the prayers, the special emails and IM's, the chats and offers of help in every sense. This is really a special place and you guys are what make it so great. God bless us, one and all.
Had mandatory OT today and have 12 more hours before next Sunday night I have to do. Went out to dinner with some old friends and my parents and had some great Chinese food. Watched some old cheezy horror movies with Lionel Barrymore, Fay Wray, Maureen O'Sullivan, & etc. Kids barely whimpered, but did groan over how old and cheezy these old movies are. Good times
Tardis is ready and I guess we can let SJ have the last few spoonfuls of Rocky Road, providing we remembered to put the carton back in the freezer last night!
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Happy Birthday Jim
OK your forgiven. But my Rocky Road too.
Happy Birthday Brutus [Jim F].
Chilly day. Was a pretty day though. Went to early Church and SS. Then went to mall and got locking tool box from Sears on Craftsman Club sale. Will screw it down to the work bench at the lake house big shelter. Put tools in it. Always running back and forth to the shed ner the house to get tools as they can be locked up there. Got new jacket to have monogramed with Town of Roseyville, NC. Got lots of shirts like that now.
Bidding on a used .22 semi-automatic on Gun Broker. Will take it to the lake house and bring 10/22 home. Also looking at used .22 Mag. rifles too.
Popcorn time.

Happy Birthday, Brutus
Good afternoon all,
IIABSDISEI with temps in the 60s. Happy birthday, Brutus! It was nice to be doing yardwork in my shorts and T-shirt this afternoon. Wife and I filled up two vehicles and saved .75 a gallon due to the Speedway rewards. I shined two pair of shoes while running the Santa Fe freight on the back porch. Going to a soccer dinner for the youth group tonight. I had sausages and pancakes on the dining car for breakfast. TBIL after "Desperate Housewives" and I can drive. I hope everyone has a good day.
Good afternoon everyone. Had a nice church service this morning. The pastor of the church that our church is sponsoring in Baltimore was here to give the message. He did a great job, but since I was on the main camera, he also did a lot of walking back and forth, so I got a workout. It is good to see such progress on a church bringing some light into the darkness of an inner city neighborhood.
Brutus, Happy Birthday! I know you could have no better present then for Char to be getting better. We will continue to pray for her and the rest of your family. Hope it is a good one for you.
Fife, I too look forward to your next installment of your layout in the pages of CTT. It is an inspiration. As for where the trains go when I am gone, I suspect it will be the store up in NJ who buys collections.
RT, be careful how much pressure you put into claiming the den....I could easily see a "dusting accident" happening! Oh, was that your $1500.00 Legacy locomotive that I knocked off the shelf???? Soooo Sorry!
God Bless,Dennis
Brutus
Hey all home from work off tomorrow so thats kinda cool. Didn't get parts in yesterday I was hoping I would so hopefully tomorrow.
Not a lot going on emptying some shelves the wife has stuff on and putting trains up there instead in the den as told her I'm taking the den over I gave you first choice of the extra two rooms then gave you the other so den is mine lol.
Hope all had a good weekend.
Talk to you all later for all that needs thems
The stars have aligned and miracles are occurring........SJ leaves town and the Lions win, he returns for Brutus' birthday and they win again. BTW...... Brutus !!!!!!! We think SJ should absolve you of your sins.......pilferring all of his Banilla while he was gone.

Good morning All
We arrived home safely around 7 AM. Son's big Hemi said the temp was 34. 20 hours of mostly I75. My body is still traveling at 70 MPH. I checked the freezer and the banilla is gone but so is my Rocky Road Brutus...S.J.
Good Sunday Morning, Gang!
Sunny and 41 going up to 55 later. NY Giants football @ 4 today as they are in Seattle.
Yesterday started off with giving blood at Church and I'm on the table we have a rescue call. Turned out to be nothing, but still made it to the house before our trucks got back in station. It has been pretty quiet though. Met a guy from Metuchen, NJ and sold him a bunch of RealTrax, then promptly spent it on our 175th stuff (mug, glass, t-shirts, patches and stickers). Went shopping with a friend and had lunch at Cracker Barrel. We sat in front of the fireplace which was nice. Had Chinese last night and did a Pay-Per-View of the Werewolf (the new one). Not bad, but I was fading about midnight, did see 99% of it.
After I get motivated, have to get to storage and get the train & ceramic houses sorted out for the display. Hope to get that done before kick oof.
Fife, my Princess and I discussed the trains and she told me flat out: "I'll keep Grandpa's trains and sell all of yours". Go figure....
Hey, where's John (Hundson) been? Maybe working on those lines somewhere in Jersey? We had a blown transformer and then that blew another 20Kv line downtown later on. I had hoped to see him as we were on standby at the downed line.
Alrighty, that's all from Exit 8. Mon & Dad are on a secret mission in NC, so I'll have access to the computer more often.
Have a great & blessed Sunday!
PS: BRUTUS!!!

Hi GUYZ,
32 and frosty here, going up to 54. Went for pheasants yesterday afternoon and we didn't see any. We did flush a covy of woodcock, but we didn't have migratory licenses so we just enjoyed them flushing every 50 yards or so as we walked the creek bottom. Neat birds! Went spotting deer afterwards and only saw a few, no buck.
CHIEF, are you serious on me ordering a NS GENSET for you? I'll order it if you want. Let me know. I have the UP and it is well worth the money.
DOUG M. GO BEARS!
It is sunny but cold. 28 degrees. Going up to a sunny 50 today.
Today is an easy day. Relax and watch the Nascar race. Maybe from the train room. Nice supper planned. Life is good.
Y'all have a great Sunday.
Mornin' boys. Was running trains yesterday, and wifey joined me. Had lots to talk about "trackside", and we even broached SPMan's topic of new trains and perpetuity. We talked how each child had shared working on the layout, and whom might want what. She also encouraged me to finish Cumberland and get my next article in. While running the trains, noticed a huge amp loss at one section, and spent evening rewiring a section. Still have a "hot" spot on one middle rail joiner that I can't figure out.
Today = football,nascar,laundry.
Good morning everyone. Hope everyone turned their clocks back an hour, or you will be way early for church. We of course got up an hour early, we knew the time, but our internal clocks are still on prior time. Wife took the opportunity to make some biscuits and gravy for breakfast.
I have been kit-bashing a old HO burning building kit to put on the layout. It has been fun, but it is a challenge to figure out how to take the back off and expand the front in a manner that looks real. It is made more complicated with the smoke and lighting units. Still, I am enjoying the time and the kids are "helping".
At this time, I have no idea what the temps are outside, but the heat has been running for awhile. Well, no matter what the temps are, I am sure it is colder in Jersey! Got a message from one of the guys on the FD up there. They got a new engine in that they put in service Friday. The guy is a Lt. and has been on the job for over 20 years, but being the first to work a fire with the new fire engine makes him like a little kid on Christmas. It was a small brush fire that probably could have been handled with a water can!
Hope everyone has a blessed week ahead.Dennis
Evening all. Yankee raid down South. Got through car show [I did Mayor's video on it] and started to the Fall Festival and a COLD rain hit us. Had to shut down the event 3 hours early. Repelled the raid about 3 PM with sunshine. Did make it so I could go to Miss Edna's for a change. Missed her order deadline on the Lionel NS Genset. LAZ, need you to get Barry to order one for me. Did get to order one MTH NS Dash 9 as she was sending order on Monday.
Howard, wish wifey worked for McDonalds here. We'd have someone who spoke ENGLISH working there. Here, McDonalds, Hardees and Sonic offer their "fulltime" employees great benifit packages.
Good night all.
