Hi GUYZ,
40 and rainy here today. I have the annual Shop Teachers conferences today and tomorrow in Harrisburg. All us shop guyz talking about our big tools. No GOLF today.
SIR JAMES, I'll have the Wings and Yuengs tonite but without the lube job.
BRUTUS prayers for your wifes return home this weekend. Hope so.
RT sorry for your loss of the cat.
Stay frosty,

Good morning all,
It is cooler in SE Indiana with temps in the 50s and Snohiozone predicted possibly for tonight. I did weights at the YMCA and did some shopping as well. I had bacon and biscuits on the dining car for breakfast before sending it on to "Points East". TBIL anytime tonight. Thoughts and prayers going out to Brutus, RT, and 8ntruck, and eveybody else who needs them. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Evenin' All.
RT, Sorry bout the loss of the kitty. Mite've only been a cat to some but like a lot of us they were also family.
8n, When it rains it pours.
Brutus, that all goes well, and the better half is home soon. Just make sure you clean up all the pizza boxes and burger & fry bags/wrappers.
Hotter than heck here today, 99* was the high, if it even cracks the 90's tomorrow the AC is going on.
Another train nut came by for a visit last nite to check out the halloween trains. He's just a bit bummed that most of this stuff isn't available in "S" gauge. Some of the neighbors probably think we are a bit crazy, grown men in the garage with the door open watching halloween trains and all kinds of noisey buildings. on me !
All packed and ready for the museum on friday, then a gaggle of kids here on sunday.

Good evening all,
I returned from church a couple of hours ago and then was responsible for getting all the kids ready and in to bed. The wife was not feeling too well; she received a flu shot yesterday and it has been taking a toll on her. After I got everyone asleep I watched the latest episode of The Ultimate Fighter. The fighters on there can sometimes behave like idiots, but I enjoy the fighting.
RT - Sorry to hear about your cat.
8N - I hope your wife feels better and everything works out with your insurance company.
Brutus - I'm glad a reunion is nearing - I hope overtime doesn't spoil it.
Good night,
Joe
Busy day. Meeting with school system on starting of the new high school. Did squeeze in a haircut. Went to sleep during Criminal Minds. Recorded Law and Order SVU. Light rain.
RT, sorry for the cat. Mine [outside] has been hopping on three legs for three days. No visiable injury, Taking him to Vet tomorrow AM.
8N, thought Feds had a law about employer not being able to do that.
Off to bed. Sleep tight.

RT - sorry for your loss, brother. I'm sure you and D are devastated Prayers, man.
8NT, glad about your wife's back, sorry about her knee and job man. I hope she will be healed up soon and get an even better job. I know that feeling - frustrated because you can't fix something. Hang in there man.
SJ - sounds like a great trip to the aquarium! You guys need to get a timeshare there and go a couple times each winter!
Char said they are weaning her off some of her medicine, so we'll see how that goes. Keeping the weekend open as much as possible in case she comes home soon. Talk at work about mandatory overtime for the near future - hope not. I want some overtime, but with all that is going on now, I need to have more flexibility. We'll see what happens.
All you guys, loved your posts and thanks for keep us up to date. Tardis is ready and we have mint chocolate chip icecream or hard pretzels, so let's go!
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Another beautiful sunny autum day with temps. in the 60's.
RT - condolances for the loss of your furry friend.
It has been one of those good news/bad news sort of days. Good news: My wife's check up with the back surgeron went well. He said her back is progressing as it should. Another check up in six weeks, can probably start therapy after that. Bad news: My wife's sore knee that started this whole chain of events is still sore. X-rays today reveal that the cartledge in it is worn out. The joint is running bone on bone. Good news : The knee doctor in the orthepedic group is in today. He can take a look at it. Bad news: the knee is worn out. A replacement joint will be needed someday. Good news: There are injections available that increase the joint lubrication and might put off the need for a joint replacement for maybe several years. Bad news: Your insurance company needs to approve this treatment - will only take 15 days. Good news: she can return to work with restrictions. Bad news: HR won't let her return to work with restrictions. Her job has already been held open several weeks longer than required by law. They are going to post her position.
Wonder what percentage of back surgery patients loose their job because of the extended recovery time. Even if we had known this up front, we still would have gotten the operation. A good back is worth more than a job.
Going to have to work through ending her health insurance and getting my health insurance to list her as primary provider instead of secondary provider.
Really, I think she is taking this better than I am. The engineer in me says I should be able to fix this problem for her. Frustrating to know that I can't.
When life gives you a lemon, figure out how to make lemonade!
Good evening everyone. Had a good, but somber night. One of the sales reps that we deal with for most of the equipment we use came to town and took us out for dinner. It is the first time I had seen him since his kid brother was killed in an accident last week. Still, it was good to share a little and be an ear.
Bob, no problem about the politics. Regardless of which way the folks lean, I am sure we are all happy to be done with robot calls!
RT, Sorry to hear about your cat. While I am not a cat person, I am sure they are every bit a member of your family as my dog is in ours. If he died in his most comfortable chair, he most likely was at peace. Still, a very sad thing. For cats, that is very young.
Have a great night everyone.Dennis

Hi guys
Just returned from Tampa, we visited the aquarium, after, we had chicken wings at a place called Quaker Steak and lube. I haven't had a chance to look for trains here, guess I may have to scratch that idea. 87 degrees here, and there granny said the garden hose was froze this morning. S.J.

I had an early meeting this morning so I not able to have a workout this morning. I will have to decrease the amount of food I eat today to compensate. That will be a very difficult task since my wife made some delicious chocolate cookies two nights ago. I have a busy day of administrative work and meetings to deal with today. Tonight we have Bible study at the church.
I hope everyone has a good day.
Aloha all. Great 'riding' home after class with Charlie (the un-neutered) and Brutus. Boy, I have to do something about this Halloween candy all around. I took an idea I've seen here and piled it in some gons to run around - only the Tootsie Rolls and other types that can stay stable for a month or so. Brent, I like your preliminary ideas for your holiday layout. 8n, bet they don't replace him... Hope to read the new CTT on the train home.

It is a cold 30 degrees. Going up to 50 today.
Today is a busy day. I have to get the oil changed and tires rotated on the car, for the winter. Then, run an errand. I'll be gone most of the day. Looks like no nap time.
Dining car is here for the usual Cheerios breakfast.
Y'all have a great Wednesday.
27 here and another frosty mornin. To get to 52. Dig garden and put in rest of compost, limed and added 5-10-5 to soil all ready for next year. Tonite getting rid of more rolling stock boxes and a few starter set boxes. They are just taking up too much room.
DENNIS, CONGA to that POSEY guy. I too have lost interest in MLB. But there still is some good guyz that play the game. The rest are just greedy.
Morning all. Bit tired from watching the results of the election. Ours is still not decided on one front, but we had a sweep of about the whole state. Let's hope that they remember that they work for US and govern as such.
I am not all that much into professional baseball, but do have a little interest as a local young man became the first rookie since Yogi Berra to win a world series. Buster Posey, by all accounts he is a real good person.
Well, have to head off to work.Dennis
IIABSDISEI with temps in the 20s heading up to the 60s. "Glee" was a repeat so watched a little bit of "Dancing with the Stars". Somehow Bristol Palin is hanging in there. Perhaps her mom has something to do with that. As far as the election results are concerned, things will get interesting. I had bran muffins on the dining car for breakfast before sending it on to "Points East". TBIL anytime and I can drive. I hope everyone has a good day.
Hi y'all
Been a fairly quiet weekend overall. Did manage to get a cold on Saturday. I don't think I brought it w/ me, so I guess I must have picked it up from the day crew on Friday. I was feeling well enough that I could go vote today.
Anj - I know the feeling regards the car. I realized that my idea of driving a 41 yr old and 48 yr old vehicle as a regular basis were probably somewhat optimistic, hence the new Aveo. I'll prob sell off the MG and then keep then van as something to tinker on and as a utility vehicle.
The 8607 cleaned up much better than expected. Most of what I thought was damage to the original paint cleaned off. Interesting to see the difference between the post war engines of similar type. Still impressed w/ how the new one is put together. Will have to wait 'til I can get some teflon gear lube for the plastic cluster gears to run it.

I had another full day at work today; the days seem to be flying by and the busier I get, the faster the days go. It was a beautiful day weather-wise and that trend should continue. I'm looking forward to the 50s we should be seeing by the end of the week.
My wife had a busy day with errands and check-ups for the kids so we had leftovers tonight. I enjoy leftovers and would rather have leftovers than going out for dinner any time - more money for trains. We ate dinner late due to our daughter's ballet class so I was not able to play any games with the kids except for a brief Nerf war with my 7y/o son. However, we did have reading time. Right now my kids enjoy reading and I believe that is because my wife and I have been reading with them since before they can remember. They also see my wife and I reading which also helps. I hope they continue to enjoy it.
I beat all you folks who voted today: I voted two weeks ago via absentee ballot. I always feel something special inside when I vote regardless of whether my candidates win or not. I hope everyone feels the same way. May we never feel voting is useless or a chore.
Have a great night everyone,
Nice sunny fall day today.
Voted today. Now I can complain about the government.
New entertainment at work. One of the other engineers announced today that he was going to retire on Nov. 12. Seems that he has decided that he does not need to put up with the hours the job requires and apparent lack of appretiation shown by management. I'm curious if he is going to be replaced, or if we are going to have to divy up his work load like we've done when the last six engineers have left.
The work will always be there tomorrow, the family won't. Got to keep the family and work balanced. Management looses sight of this sometimes, then those stupid requests and expectations happen.
All for now.
Jack - I was told that the political calls are exempt. The politicians wanted it that way (sigh).
I voted. My wife could not vote as we didn't know she would need an absentee ballot until it was too late. She's not happy about that at all. After voting, I hit the grocery store for a few things, then picked up the kids from art club. We had mac n' cheese and turkey sausage for dinner, which my son cooked. It was pretty good
Well, I need to clean some of these monster movies off the dvr before it fills up with Char's stuff. Tardis is ready, so let's hit it men!
Good evening everyone. Been watching some of the returns and some of the win/losses from the election. From what I heard today, the polling stations were packed. I had done early voting and am glad I did. So far, it looks like a guy we had in office for 18 years is about to have to find new employment.
Chief, it sounds like you are going to have to get another gun safe! The Thompson Center is a great weapon. I have a friend who owns one and has enjoyed it. While the 223 has a lot of loaded ammo available, with a fine rifle as the Thompson, I would work up a hand load. Same goes for the 700 you have.
Regarding the VW verses the Honda. I can't say much about the VWs as we haven't owned one since a late 60's BUG. I can however say that it is hard to beat a HONDA. We sold my bride's 94 Accord with well over 100,000 miles. It is still going strong for the new owners. We have a Honda Odyssey and it is great. Have had no problems.
Joe, you are so right. The kids are only young for so long. I make every attempt to be at all functions with them and include them in as much of my doings as possible. The kids have to see a strong relationship between you and your wife as well. I want my kids to get the example of how they should treat their spouse from my wife and I.
Hope everyone has a great night.God Bless,dennis
Brent,
Nothing has popped up yet. I'll just have to keep looking.
Evening all. Had to go get the big campaign signs up. Monster turnout. I hear the Ohizo may have saved its name by electing the "R". Will eat my Super Sonic Cheeseburger and large onion rings while watching the returns. Stayed busy today with meetings all day. Big shopping center developer is coming to Roseyville. Also helping Fire Dept [not Town owned] buy a "platform" truck [a big bucket truck] and not a ladder truck [$900K].
Later as I have not eaten dinner.
BTW: Dennis got my Thompson Center boltaction .223 today. Gun safe is "crammed" full.
Navy Jack, I used to drive VW cars. Had a 65 bug and after that got a VW Rabbit that gave me good service. However, a friend of mine was a VW mechanic and took care of my cars for a lot of years. When the Rabbit wore out he advised me not to buy any of the newer VW cars because the quality was gone. That was 14 years ago so maybe they have improved by now. I would check around with some owners of the newer stuff and see how they like them. After my Rabbit died, I got a brand new 1996 Honda Accord which I am still driving and it runs great. I love it. Election day is finally almost over. I was still getting political calls this morning on election day.
Good night y'all,
Ray

Good afternoon all,
It is cloudy and cool in SE Indiana with temps in the 40s. Wife and I voted. Got the oil changed in the truck. Mulched leaves in the back yard. I had bacon and bisucits on the dining car for breakfast. TBIL after "Glee" and I can drive. I hope everyone has a good day.
Well Got Charlie neutered and had new brake shoes put on truck.
Oh Charlie our cat that is
Not much else going on did do some rewiring of the Williams Trainmaster (PRR) that I put TMCC in haven't retried it yet will in a bit but did run a wire to the metal walkway and Railings as antenna and also have a wire about 16" long making a loop in the inside of the cab roof as antenna also. So should have good signal to the engine now and see if it still acts jerky if it does I'm going to be lost at whats going on with it. Bought another K-Line flat with 3 corvettes on it as the one I have I love the ease the car will glide down the track and it had a great price on it.
Got some 16 gauge wire from Lowe's 4 different colors 25 feet each for like $2.59 each including sales tax ( S.C. really socks you on sales tax but guess just about every state does now) but that wasn't bad so now will have plenty for rewiring engines and cars how I want.
Hope all having a good day Talk to you later
