Aloha all. Nice day again here. Couldn't connect online with my fellow riders last eve. Monday saw fish, yesterday visited outer space, today I think I'll visit dinosaurs - this is free-museum week in Chicago where various places are free on different days. Got to take advantage of this weather - The Field Museum is about a mile and a half away.

Good Morning from gray and Breezy Exit 8:
Fife, when you said marine unit, I instantly though of you being like Bruce Willis in that cop movie (Striking Distance with Sarah Jessica Parker). That would be sweet!
Jack(RI) - Hope you and the Mrs get to feeling better soon. I know that stuff can hang on a lonnng time
Nice to see John and NavyJack back in the mix here.
I put a BUNCH of Lionel, MTH and G gauge stuff on Craigslist and haven't gotten a single nibble. Going to get a smaller storage unit and start getting the train stuff sorted out for the display. I brought out my 0-8-0 Southern (only cuz it way close by). Need to find my new ZW. I have Dad's and a bunch of MPC era transformers if I can't find it.
Job hunt continue, though the bills keep coming. Got to find something and FAST...., at least RT and Brutus are doing the OT...someone has to!
I've also been contracted to do a Christmas layout here for my parents and one for a friend. I think I'm going to surprise Dad and run his restored 1666!
Watching Errol Flynn in Robin Hood...great movie!!
Check back later!
I am the monster in your head...And I thought you'd learn by now, It seems you haven't yet.I am the venom in your skin --- Breaking Benjamin
Hi GUYZ,
40 here. Got Parent teachers conferences today from 1-830. UGH! Oh well gonna build the Home Ec teacher two bookselves, then get my conference reembursment form in and that will do it. I did my workout already, 2miler and did sit ups and weights, felt good.
CHUCK, are you still doing the PT? How's that trainer treating you?
JACK, no new work on layout, over the weekend installed switches and test ran, that's about it.
Stay frosty,
laz57
Mornin' boys. Sunny & a "mild" 46 in the Mid-Atlantic region. Passed my swim test for the Marine unit yesterday. Hadn't been in the water since Labor day weekend;hardest part was haveing long sleeve shirt on. Probably won't be any openings this year;we'll see.
Rockisland - I truly believe that the ugly airmass you are sufferin' from coralates to the loss to the Browns.
SPMan - Jan '08 (Vol 21/Issue 1,pg70). The layout has doubled in size since then.
dwiemer - The SOO engines always remind me of the Western Maryland's "circus" scheme. If I modeled the upper midwest, it would be the SOO.
Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a clear and sunny 26 degrees. Going up to 60 today with sunshine.
Today is a busy day. I have an errand to run and the usual chores around the house. I might spend some time in the train room, later. It's time for a dusting.
Dining car is here and it's the usual for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Wednesday.
Chuck
Good Morning,
I just finished with getting the Safety Huddle info together for the daily morning meeting. We have a steady run on Motor Vehicle Accidents. Yesterday we had 2 reported so far. Wonder why my shop is busy?
Thoughts and Prayers for all in need.
Everyone have a Great Day,
John
Good morning all,
IIABSDISEI with temps in the 70s. I went to the YMCA and did a bike machine for 30 minutes. Went to hospital to see uncle who is not doing well. He has been in nursing home past couple of years, and I think he will be going Home soon. Wife and I watched "Glee" as well. Not one of their best, either musically or plot wise. Work went very well yesterday. I had the regular fare on the dining car for breakfast before sending it on to "Points East". TBIL anytime and I can drive. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Sunny and warm today.
It has been a few days since I last checked the pot. Just scanned 6 or 7 pages.
Happy belated birthday Brutus.
Busy past few days. Had 24 people over for dinner Saturday. Roasted four chickens ans a pork loin in a reflector ovin. Good time was had by all. Have plenty of food left over too.
Long hours at work trying to get a project caught up. Getting it patched up and the damage minimized.
My REA reefer arrived yesterday. MPC era piece. Not bad fro the price.
I'm watching a historical piece on TV about Lost in Space as I write this. Interesting, since I recently made a referenet to the series.
All for now.
Good Evnin' Ya'll From Dreary Taxachusetts,
We haven't seen the sun for over a week in these parts. Some crummy storm that has circled back around and is now hitting us out of the Northeast. Rain continues into tomorrow, clearing by evening. Wifey and I are both still battling the crud that won't quit.....day 12.
There seems to have been an undercurrent of job woes the past couple of weeks on the Pot.
NavyJack....glad to see you are back posting. Did you ever settle on on car for your wife?
Brutus.....it won't be long now. Prayers continue.
Dennis.....your posts got me to thinking about the parents we have lost and miss. I would think the memory of my folks would ebb and flow throughout the year, but it doesn't.
SJ....if it would stop raining here I could follow your lead and launch that final yard cleanup of the year. The high winds we have been having for the past 6 days have added more debris to my yard and gardens than it has taken away.
DougM.....folks who have never been there just can't begin to understand Chicago's beauty. Something for everyone. You get to enjoy the downtown, train rides every day, and the quality of like that is CL.
Rich.....your physical tests have been gruelling. There's no quit in you.
JimSP.....hope you are enjoying the Odyssey. It does so many things well.
DougDG, RaySP, and DonB.....we are depending upon you to get us through the winter with your complaining about the Southern CA weather.
Laz......any more updates on your new layout?
RT.....I have to agree with the others. Today you have a room for your layout, but this opportunity may be fleeting if you delay.
Later, gang.
Jack
IF IT WON'T COME LOOSE BY TAPPING ON IT, DON'T TRY TO FORCE IT. USE A BIGGER HAMMER.
Brutus,
I finally got the layout reconfig finished last night. I picked up the December CTT before I left work today, and it looks good. I didn't think the store carried CTT, but I saw it poking out of the magazine rack as I passed. The parts that I ordered are finally supposed to arrive tomorrow, so I'll have to get a soldering iron to make these projects easier.
Good evening all,
I had a steady day at work today, but mostly mundane paperwork, nothing exciting. After work I made some pasta for dinner. My wife was busy running errands and transporting our daughter to and from ballet. We ate dinner late due to her ballet class. After cleaning the kitchen, it was time to read to the kids and put them to bed.
Now, I can relax for a little while before having some banilla.
Joe
Howdy guys - another day of overtime, 2 hours again tonight. Only 8 more hours of mandatory OT for the week to go. Looking forward to Veterans' Day on Thursday! Have a new issue of Trains magazine to read also == Tardis away!
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Good Evening
Grass is cut, leaves are chopped, trimmer is drained and got a shot of defogger. I'll wait on the mower just in case. RT you've been a busy boy, easy does it man. Banilla is ready for the thingy, and maybe we can catch a ride home with Doug M.....S.J.

Evening all well got my number boards in yesterday just to find out that theres a piece missing that they go into but Lionel never listed them as a part. its about 3/16" wide by 7/8" long that go into the front of the cab. Then while changing the front pick-up didn't realize it was a bolt and nut thought it would of been a screw into the truck well the nut went bouncing across the desk to who knows where so need to get one of those I see lol.
The Trainmaster did have a bad R2LC board. Its now working good.
Hope all had a good day. Working OT tomorrow so will be a 12 hour day ( my 8 plus 4 OT) also doing 12 OT on sat.
Haven't done much else train wise.
Talk to you all later
Life's hard, even harder if your stupid John Wayne

Back from today's lunchtime destination.
Good afternoon Everyone! It was a good start to the day. I had a early case, but we were delayed a bit, so finished a little later than we could have. Wife should be home soon with the kids, so we will have plenty to do.
On the way home yesterday, I went through the NS rail yard in town. They had a SOO engine in a consist with some black ponies. Funny to see that red and white in a sea of black.
John, glad you have that past you. Hope they are able to turn things around and not have you worrying about that from year to year. Always a concern when they have bean counters coming to a department they know nothing about, trying to decide on your value to an organization they don't understand.
I am looking into metal detectors as my son wants one for Christmas. Hobby Lobby has one that looks promising, but I am open to any suggestions.
God Bless,Dennis

Good morning all, How come I have to log in twice each morning to get on the Coffee Pot?
Fife, still waiting to hear more about your layout in CTT. What issue?
Ran trains a little yesterday without any derailments. I have beaucoup voltage drops on my inside loop. Got to fix that one of these days. I get lazy running DCS because the high voltage overides the voltage drops but when you run conventional, you really notice it.
Picking up a GGD depot scale pullman car yesterday, I accidentally pushed out one of the windows. Have to take that puppy apart now to fix the window and it looks like a major project to take one of these things apart. A lot of tiny little screws etc.
Navy Jack, glad to see you posting a lot and getting feedback from your friends. Do you actually fire that 30/30? Speaking of our friends from the past, I miss two especially who are now deceased. One who I knew since high school and came to California with from Virginia in 1958, The other, a great railfan friend with whom I traveled many a mile chasing trains over the years and belonging to the same model railroad club. They were my best friends. I continue to make new ones, but there will never be friends like those old ones I fear. Well, its like that closing line from Gone With The Wind, "Tomorrow is another day".
Have a good one today y'all
Ray
SPMan
Lunch Time at work,
I have been trying to catch up on the posts. I missed a lot.
Brutus, Happy Belated Birthday and anyone else that I missed.
Doug, that was a great idea having the Halloween Party when you did. The kids got to use their costumes again and incorporating "Thomas" introduced the kids to trains.
Navy Jack, I will give you a call this Sunday. Sounds like you are feeling better.
This past week was the week of train deals. I won 1 K line and 2 Williams Box Cars on E Bay. On Sunday morning my son and I went to a local train show and I scored a Lionel 6250 Seaboard Switcher priced right.
I looks like my Department and I will miss the axe. After auditing and bechmarking they found out again that we are on top of our game.
Back to work, Chief needs his SS check.
Good Morning
Sunny going to 59. I'm back from PT on my neck so after the 12-0-clock news I will run the mower over the leaves that my neighbor kindly shares with us. She never cleans them up just lets them blow. Grannys out so Corn beef hash this morning....S.J.
Aloha. It's a beauty of a day here in Chicago. The museums are free this week for some reason, so today I'm going to try to make it over to the Adler Planetarium during lunch. Boy, Laz, what a screw up - someone left a small briefcase on an L station platform that runs between the major northwest expressway so after someone called it in at the height of rush-hour, they stopped all the trains and both inbound and outbound highways so basically no one could move. Fortunately my Metra train on the other side of the highway sailed past. It took hours to untangle the mess. Too bad it's so difficult to have a proportionate response.
I have a good book suggestion to those of you who are readers "Rival Rails: The Race to Build America's Greatest Transcontinental Railroad" by Walter Borneman. It's on the construction and development of the Santa Fe, SP and Rio Grande -- after the CP-UP were built.
I've been browsing for Marx lately. Any recommendations, beyond e-Bay, for sources?
It is 28 degrees. Sunny. Going up to 64 today with sunshine.
Today is a busy day. After the usual chores, I have an errand to run. Then, I can relax. Got the car ready for winter. Now I have to get ME ready for winter. That will not be easy. Love the summer.
Dining car is here and it's Cheerios for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Tuesday.
40 here to get to 55. Did a little cleaning in the train room last nite, not much but a little at a time will get r done.
DOUG M, BEARs this week against the VIKEs might be pretty interesting? What happened in CHITOWN yesterday? Heard they closed done the roads because somebody left their suitcase in the RR station?
happy belated birthday jim, hope you had a good day man, rt has sent me some great patriotc emails. thanks navyjack
IIABSDISEI with temps near 70. I had the regular fare. TBIL anytime. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,,
It's halftime so I thought I would quickly check-in. Today at work I accomplished most of the annual report I have to complete by tomorrow. I see no reason why I will not finish it by the end of tomorrow's duty day. The wife made Italian pot roast for dinner tonight and it was so good I had to stop myself from finishing all of it tonight. I cannot wait to have it on a sandwich tomorrow for lunch. After dinner I watched Star Wars with the kids. It was the fifth one released, but second one in storyline order. I believe I have explained the whole order thing about 100 times to the kids.
Navyjack - Congratulations on your auction wins. It's nice to see you back.
CNW - Nice photo - it seems like a neat place.
Doug - Sorry you started the tear down process. It doesn't seem as if the layout was up very long.
S.J./Brutus - I'm ready for some banilla.
Hello, Coffee Potters!
Well, I worked 2 of my 12 mandatory hours of OT for this week tonight. My mother-in-law showed up and had the kids, so I signed right up. 10 to go! If I work this right, I can just work Saturday and have next Sunday off. We do get off on Thursday, which is nice
Thanks again for all the birthday wishes! Nice chat with RT tonight.
Tardis is ready and screen shows some beacons coming on, so let's hit it!
Not a bad day for november, sunny and 50s.
Well I restocked the banilla so I am ready for Brutus and the thingy....S.J.
Evenin' All.
to Brutus.
The last of the Halloween layout lookie-loos left a little bit ago. Had a housefull of kiddos here yesterday for a belated Halloween party for them and their parents, the trains were a big hit with all. Especially the dump cars on the grandson's Thomas layout with the big Milky Ways, Snickers, Snickers w/almonds, and Twix bars. All went home full of lunch and with their choice of goodies from the dump cars.
Did learn one thing though, as a result of a short on the upper level saturday nite I was up quite late trying to find it. Next year power blocks will be instituted to make it easier to isolate and fix these kinds of problems.
Dismantling has commenced.
