Doug,

If you figure it out, let me know.  I am also using Shutterfly, and I am clueless with this new software.

I got the 282 back together and smoking well last night.  I mentioned that it smoked great for a few seconds, then would thin to nothing.  Usually that is a sign of a hardened or burnt wick.  When I removed the bottom cover to inspect the wick, what I found left me scratching my head.  Instead of the wick being crispy or a hard yellow glob, it was white and soft as new.  I remembered that a few weeks ago that I had to break the remains of the old plastic stack tube out of the of the top plate so that I could install a new tube.  Since I did this without removing the top plate to avoid risking trashing the element in the proces, a small fragment of the tube fell inside and partially blocked the upper chamber which caused the poor output.

After I got that done last night, I watched Titanic on TBS from 8-12.  I enjoyed it, but waking up for work at 6AM wasn't fun.

Happy Belated Birthday to FifePup!

Doug - that's great!  How cool that the kids got to run the trains and had a blast Smile

Today I got to visit with my Aunt, who is visiting from McClean IL.  Then my son and I picked up a new tv/monitor for the new x-box.  It is a Samsung and came with an HDMI cable in the box.  22 inch and seems to have a pretty good picture.  Then I grilled burgers and dogs on the bbq.  Feels like I did something, although mostly it was visiting and shopping, lol!  Some little jobs for tomorrow include moving the modem/router and cable, then need to put up those light fixtures in the kitchen. Maybe do some drywall too?  We'll see.  We then have a family cookout with my sister and brother and parents.

Tardis is about ready, just have to refill Jack's jug, get some Jack for Don, and some Old Mills, Yeungs, Sam Adams, and Barks Root Beer for the run tonight!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

RT,

I bring up the photo(s) in Shutterfly, select the photo, right click for a drop down menu, left click on properties, hi-lie & copy/

Paste into URL space but photo won't come up. Tried the old way of manually entering ['s and link info. That works but not using the icon. Grumpy

So far the "new" software is not impressive. Maybe it's just teaching an old dog new tricks, woofwoof.  Dunce

Chuck I think we all say that every time. It just taking getting use to as we were use to the old and we could do what we wanted as we knew how. In time this will work out I think with each other helping the rest I just started a post to try help everyone do photos and asking others to say how they are.

Now chuck if you going to be southern you need to buy some nascar trains to prove it and run them on your track Regularly in case chief or someone comes by Whistling

Morning all off today but couldn't sleep back up early. oh well time for the dinning car to come by need to go see what I'm going to go have.

Talk to you all later.

P.S.

If anybody figures out how to do that chat thing let me know I've tried it with brutus but we failed in doing so. ( click on a persons name and it shows a link to start a conversation  ) who knows maybe bob knows

Mornin' boys.  Sunny & 63 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Went sailing with wifey yesterday afternoon, and there were lots of sailboats out there. Yes Unfortunately, there were some "uncivilized" stinkboat captains out there as well. No  ON any given weekend or holiday, you simply have to assume that the next guy has at least 6 Beer in his belly, and make your moves in advance.  After we got back to dock, went to my favorite Pirate lair, which is right next to a CSX (B&O) swing bridge, and actually saw 2 Dash9's pulla string of W&LE hoppers across Bear Creek.  Rails & Sails. Dinner

Watched the 14 cover the field last night.

Speaking of Laz (Ole Mils)....where is he?  Did the RR kidnap him?  Fife....do you have any jurisdiction on the open sea?  ----maybe you can make them walk the plank.

Two days of end of the Summer grilling and great food.  Burp and   Wife wants to take a drive up to Kittery ME today to shop at the outlet malls, and I hate going along........no train stores and one can only look and listen to the same audio/video toys at the Bose outlet so long.

Later gang.  Dog wants his chow.

Good Morning from the Jersey Shore, 57 going to 82 and Sunny.

I have been pretty busy this weekend, Saturday, we ran the wires and hooked up my daughter's hot tub and then called and told the no show electrician not to bother. My son in law learned not to depend on his brother's friends. That is another story. After that I split a 1/2 cord of wood, relaxed had dinner and my wife and I enjoyed a nice quiet evening relaxing by the fire pit. Sunday, ushered at the 7:45 service, split about a cord of wood with my son and then went to my brother in law's pre Holiday BBQ. Today I am plannng on splitting more wood and going to the Official Holiday BBQ.

Dougdagrump, I like the story about the lost illegals and the fire. I hope that it is put out quick without any injuries, loss of life or property damage.

Navyjack, I have had the '65 Stang for a while. It has the original "A" code, 4 bbl. 289, warmed over to around 300 ponies, mated to the original 4 speed. To quote my wife, "It is not the fastest or the nicest car that you have owned. For some reason it is your favorite."

Fife, Happy belated birhtday to your son. My youngest is going to be 18 in November and I must have lucked out. This kid hardly asks for anything and is always helping around the house and whereever he is needed. Now he is talking about maybe doing a stint in the USMC before pursuing college and a career as a State Trooper.

Pat, Today for us is Deep Fry Turkey Day along with the burgers, dogs, corn and beer. My son suggested that we do some smoking and my brother in law amd myself are thinking of trying it with him.

Doug M, I know the feeling hen you hear kids "operating" the trains.

Chuck, You forgot Y'ALL. Anybody asks, you are from SOUTHERN OHIO.

Rich, Good Luck on the job search and be careful responding.

Prayer and Thoughts for all in need.

Have a great Holiday.

John

Happy Labor Day to one and all!

It's been a brutal summer here in the Heartlands but I think we have survived,  Much to much to list and now we move to the fall season, actually looking forward to it.  It's been a stressful summer to say the least.

Dennis --  good to hear about the progress of the kids with their music, thanks for supporting the arts, you'll never regret that investment of time and energy.

Pat -- hope the Turkey on the smoker met your expectations.  We will have Thanksgiving here this year and I know Big Bird will the featured entree.

Buckeye -- you and the boss will be logging some serious travel miles in the near future to NYC.  We are fortunate to have both sons and families 2 & 4 hours away, hang in there.

Doug D. -- hope we can make it to Sandy Eggo sometime this fall, LOVE that town!

Doug M. -- thought of you this weekend while I was in Caboose Stop Hobby in Cedar Falls, their inventory is bigger than ever, unbelievable.

Rich -- best of luck with the job search!  Hope your MC riding has been good, super time of the year coming up for a quick get-away.

The boss and I are finally getting away to the Colorado Mtns. next week -- just the two of us!  It's been a long time since the two of us have been away on a non working trip.  I'm putting the Gold Wing on our trailer and I will ride for three days with 250+ friends, we are all staying at Copper Mtn. resort, FANTASTIC place and great rates as it's their low season.  We will hike several days and Sharyl will visit two of her sisters on a couple of those days as she doesn't ride with me.  Will be good to be away, we are about 700 miles to Copper Mtn. resort so it's an easy day, we will spend the first two nights in Denver at her sister's home to break up the trip and catch up with them.  Back in the day we used to play cards with them often as they just lived across the border in MN and at that time we lived in northern IA.

We have had our Grand Daughter here for a couple of long weekends (she's 4) and she just loves to be in the train rooms with us, what a special time.  We keep talking about our next layout, lots of ideas but we both really like our current layout yet we'd like to try something new, decisions-decisions.

Stay well everyone!

Jon

RockIsland - The plank is reserved for those parental units that insist on bringing their crying squirming offspring to my favorite Pirate lair. Bang Head It ain't exactly Chuck E Cheese, if you get my drift...     As to shopping up in ME, why not carpe diem and 'splore the area for PAN AM (Guilford).  Rockingham Jct appears to be a good place to start. Idea

jonadel - You two have a safe trip. Cool

Aloha all. Quite a different day from yesterday - warm, sunny. As soon as we get rid of the rug-rats my generous bride 'borrowed' who are eating us out of house-and-home this morning, maybe we'll go to the beach for the last day of the season. Figured out the best of my refinancing options -- I think -- finally.  Great to hear from Jon.  Ole Milwaukee is available for your imbibing pleasure at least here in Chicago. More down-market than it used to be I think. I've rediscovered Schlitz though.

After thinking it over, I decided to make this a "Non-Labor Day" and do no work but play. That big pile of oak can wait.

Jon, Have a Fun and Safe Trip.

Dennis, Glad to see that you have a day off. Enjoy it.

Fife, He is a 1 in a million. He is going through a "Girl Friend Adventure". She is a piece of work and she keeps texting him. Her name is Amber and when his cell phones signals her text, to crank him up I tell him another "Amber Alert, Whoop, Whoop". I am sure that you will meet him. He likes to go to train shows and events with me, yes a 17 year old that hangs out with his old man.

Doug M., Enjoy the beach and the rug rats.

Enjoy the Holiday

Fife, alcohol and salt water don't mix.  That was told to me by a guy who put a 40 foot sailboat on the rocks of the Los Angeles Harbor breakwater and ripped the bottom out of it.  Ouch!

Doug, is Old Milwaukee a near beer?  I see it here in the super markets with the N/A brands,  I've been a teetotler since 1971 but I fondly remember my younger days with the Schlitz brand.
