Mornin' boys. Mornin' English. 75 and a little muggy here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Have to start watering the lawn dirt, as it has been bone dry, and we could use some rain.
Brutus - Happy 4K!
Morning all. Going to be muggy herer too until cold front comes through. Tomorrow due points in the 40's. Less sweat then. Slept till 7:30 and Finn had to wake me.
Got this photo of Jon Engelhardt on his JD motorcycle.
Now on the serious side. Just got prayer request from buddy in AL whose SIL is LT in Iraq [where the war is over]. His patrol [he is leader] has been hit twice in the past two weeks. 4 dead and 13 casualties as a result for these patrols. Last two casualties was yesterday and no names mentioned. They do know that both soldiers are married and have children. NOT GOOD. Happy 4K to Brutus. Prayers for Bob M. No meetings today. Have a great day.

Sunny 57/70 today.
Well granny was up early worried I wouldn't get the boat out of the garage in time for the new freezer. Lowes has free delivery and free take the old. Old isrunning all the time but holding at 10 degrees so no food lost. They say wednesday is hump day so happy hump day to all....S.J.

Good morning everyone. Yeah Chief, the war is "over", but only in name. Have some friends that were deployed back there and they are looking at a year in country. Will pray for the families left behind and the fellow troops that are left to defend. Also, got your message and put in for that one you mentioned.
Has been a nice morning as I go in a little later. Have to deal with some new manufacturer reps. They will want a meeting in the next few days and also to bring in all the latest things for us to try. I am of the old school in that it has to be a good deal better for us to bring it in on a patient. I would rather stick with what we know works and what we know we can provide the best care with verses something that someone says is better.
We have a alligator season down here. It actually is a good thing in that if you bag one, they will pay $100 per foot for them. Some guys got one on Saturday that was 11ft long! And the best thing is that it was by a favorite swimming location on the Flynt River. They say it weighed in at 500 lbs.
Hope everyone has a great day!
God Bless,Dennis

Aloha all. Cool and sunny today. Prayers for Bob and NavyJack and Gigi's recovery. What a night. Teen drama to resolve, parent-meeting at elementary school, a quick cold supper at 930 pm, just the usual dad-stuff. . Wow, 4K is a lot of posts, Brutus. Thanks for sharing your wisdom. Why don't we take Sir J's boat with us on the Tardis? It'll get out of the garage. We could look for gators...

Good Mornin' Ya'll From Rainy And Seasonable 70s Taxachusetts,
The day started off with thunder, lightening, and rain. It will be a seasonably warm low 80s here today with rain in the forecast for the next few days. Had to laugh at Fife's comment about the crunchy lawn, sounds like mine, but just the front. Wife displeased with the appearance, and I suggested she talk to God about it. The rest of the lawn seems to be recovering nicely from the Summer heat and the lack of rain, green and growing in the rear.
Read SJ's post about the maple trees turning already. Same with our fruit trees. Fall foliage-viewing season will come early this year here in the Northeast U.S.A. because of the lack of rain and the above normal temperatures.
2,000........
Brutus.....congrats on 4,000 posts! I think we should toast each other on the Tardis tonight. What's your pleasure? I'll bring it. Just don't forget to pick me up.
SirJames......I'm in your boat so to speak. Front loading washing machine (7.5 year old Kenmore) started banging Monday night, drum was loose. Repair guy was scheduled for this AM. He called first and asked a bunch of questions so he could anticipate the correct parts. Bottom line, supports for the drum let go and the cost to repair, parts and labor, estimated at $700! He said they get about 10 of these front loader failures a week, suggested I buy another one. So much for investing in an energy star efficient unit that also saves on water.....all savings, down the proverbial drain.
Bob......glad to hear you are doing better and are back in action. I was disappointed you didn't post any pictures of the attending medical staff of the opposite persuasion.
Joe and Roy.....sounds like both of you had a fun-packed weekend with your families. Roy....hope those swimsuit inspections you volunteered to perform at the lake were appreciated.
OleTimer.....your travels with the wife reminded me of the time I joined my better half for a business trip to London. I decided to to check out the sights on my own while she was tied up with work stuff and found myself studying the history of the proper English pub at 9:30 one morning. John Baker would have been proud of me. The place was packed by 10AM!
DougM.....heard Richie Daly has decided to retire as mayor of ChiTown. I think you should run for office and take his place.
Brent.....may have missed it. Did you wrap up the 4-season room?
Buckeye......distance makes the heart grow fonder. My wife and I are already in the planning stages for our next family road trip to Chicago to visit family and friends back there around the Holidays. Last one was in April. 1,042 miles one way. Air fares are not cooperating (again/still), so it looks like we may be driving it. The car's DVD (SRX) gets a real workout to and fro with the grandchildren. Usually takes two vehicles to move us all back and forth.
Dennis.....sorry I missed your daughter's birthday. to her. My daughter and SIL go way overboard with our granddaughters every year. Cookout for 40-50 at my place with the kiddies alternating between the kiddie pool and the slip-and-slides plus a visit from a Disney princess. My place is so full of framed and mounted pictures of my grandchildren that it resembles a shrine, not a home.
Chief.....we can't do or say enough about the soldiers who lay it all out for us. Prayers for those and their families that pay such a horrific price for the freedoms far too many take for granted.
NavyJack....food poisoning! No fun. While you and your wifey may be feeling better today, sometimes this stuff doesn't/won't clear up on its own. When in doubt, don't try to gut it out and wait it out.
So where is the LAZ-Meister? KURT? CHARLIE?
Later, gang!
Jack.
IF IT WON'T COME LOOSE BY TAPPING ON IT, DON'T TRY TO FORCE IT. USE A BIGGER HAMMER.
RockIsland52Roy....hope those swimsuit inspections you volunteered to perform at the lake were appreciated.
Rock - well I certainly appreciated them!
Morning all!
Pouring rain here all night and looks to continue all day. It's all good and we need it. One local lake had to close their boat ramps due to low water levels. That will get corrected today I think!
Doug M - ah yes - teen drama
Continued prayers for Bob, Navyjack, and those that need them.
Have a great day all!
Regards, Roy
RockIsland - ...and happy to say I've read all 2000.
Good morning all, we got a little moisture this morning with some fall out from low cloud/marine layer. Wasn't much but we will take it. My son washed his car. That's what did it.
Dennis, your alligator story reminds me of that new TV show about swamp people but I think that is about Louisiana. They talked about the season on them over there. Some guys make good money doing it.
Navy Jack, hope you feel better soon. You have enough problems already without food poisoning.
New neighbor has 5 collie dogs. Yesterday they all got out he said. Must have been fun rounding them up. I think one of them must have encountered a skunk a few minutes ago and got sprayed. The smell is creeping right into our house with the windows closed. Whew!
Re" war over in Iraq", it looks like we are going to be there from now on. I hate to see our men getting killed at this late date. Prayers for all of them.
Glad to have cooler weather for running trains in the garage. Might help attendance at the L.A. County Fair too.
New neighbor had a Bar-B-Que on Labor Day and invited all the neighbors. Met a guy and asked if he lived around here. He said yea, across the street. I said how long have you been there. He said 8 years. Wow! as you can see people don't socialize too much around here. Anyway, he is a nice guy so now I will yell at him if I see him. At least I know who he is now. Not like where I grew up. Back there we knew every neighbor on the whole street and our doors were never locked. We didn't have fences either. How the world has changed.
Chief, did you see Garrison Keilor yet? He has been out here but I keep missing him. I really like his down home stories and he usually has some good musicians on most of the time. He used to use Chet Atkins when he was alive and Johnny Gimble a lot. There were a lot of other good pickers too. I guess Johnny is getting pretty old now. Saw a video of him somewhere a while back and he seems quite a bit older. I guess I am too.
Went to Mexican restaurant with church group last night. Good food and conversation. We had about three kinds of salsa with chips for appetizers and plenty of variety for the main courses.
Have a good day y'all,
Ray

Good day today - 6" of rain so far and another 1-2" expected tonight. One area got 10". Normal areas flooding - but no news - except the TV stations are working their patooties off trying to make it news. My pool went over the top - I think there is a TV News helicopter hovering over it now for the National news feed!
Hey brutus on your 4000 guess I need to start reply more as your catching up to me
Evening all not a lot going on just relaxing tonight.
Life's hard, even harder if your stupid John Wayne
http://rtssite.shutterfly.com/
Good Evening
A gloomy day, I don't think it reached 70.
Brutus I got banilla and the beacon is humming so swing on by here....S.J.
Forum has hicups. Took forever to load the reply screen. Seems it hangs and then takes off and flies.
Fed deer apples and corn. Got tons of apples under my tree. Get up the bad ones and give to the deer. They have gone crazy over them. One buck came tonight. Bow season starts Saturday. I don't bow hunt anymore. One fox ran by the truck while we were standing and watching the deer. Usually see more than one.
Now for some popcorn for dinner.
Later.
Good evening all,
A great day of continuous rain here. Fortunately, it has not been hard enough to cause any flash flood issues here. I had a full day of meetings at work that just really wear me out. The wife made spaghetti and meatballs tonight and it was very delicious. The kids are in bed and the wife and I are about enjoy some decaf coffee and some quiet time together. We will probably watch some House Hunters International on HGTV; we are not ready to move or buy a house yet, but we enjoy the show and watching it allows us to reminisce about our time living in Germany. We will probably live overseas again.
Happy 2,000th RI Jack!
Good night,
Joe
Good evening everyone. Been busy today, even though much of it was after I left the hospital. A number of calls from sales reps, etc. I really don't like fielding such phone calls after I leave the hospital. That is my time to spend with the family.
Regarding Chet Atkins, one of my friends had Chet Atkins and Ronnie Milsap in his wedding. They are old Nashville folk and had kept close over the years. Sure could play a sweet melody.
Well, no teen drama...YET!, but I am sure we will have ours before too long. Ours are still too young for that, but they still have moments. We took them to violin practice tonight and then to some BBQ with Cheese Grits. Over all, it was a good day. Wife brought lunch to son at school and they got to sit outside. That is a nice luxury to private school in that parents can do things like that and the kids really enjoy it (while they are young and then when they get older they don't want to be seen with you).
With regard to the gator, they are common around these parts, but usually in the 5-8 foot range. They keep the stray cat population down. I had heard that they did some "swamp" show a little south of where we are, but I am not sure which one.
Brutus, congrats on the 4,000 post mark. I passed mine not too long ago, but I also see that I am not on here as much as I used to be. Life just seems to get in the way sometimes.
Evening all
I have not dropped off the face of the earth, just been really busy. Still getting caught up from being out west a couple of weeks ago. Got the house we're fixing up painted and now a new roof and then ready to sell. We put a for sale sign in the window and had a few calls but I think they were just nosey.
We're going camping this weekend with some other couples and that should be fun. We'll be taking the truck camper. Going to get it cleaned up and sell it and go back to a 5th wheel. The truck camper is just a litle tight with the kids.
God night and may God bless
Jim
Ate a couple of bar-be-que sandwiches about 2 PM. [leftovers from pigpicking] At about 8 PM, cooked some red hots and pan scrambled two eggs with cheese on top. Fried the red hots in bacon grease. Drained pan into a bowl of chopped fresh tomatoes. Spooned the tomatoes on top of the eggs. Great meal. Just saw on the news, friend at the lake, his son who was former drug force deputy for Durham Co., surrendered to the dept. Charged with taking some of the funds and an ounce of cocaine from a bust. Not good. He is really a great guy.
Off to bed. Good night all.
Thanks guys - Well, it took me about 6 years, lol! Most of you guys are going a lot faster! Demay, we have watched that show, but can't believe some of the houses people were buying. Lots of water damage and brick problems it seems?
Went to Home Depot and got some fast drying light spackle for the ceiling where the old light fixture bolts left holes. I also picked up some gromets for the cable to dress up the hole, but I didn't like them - black rubber and really made for a hole in a box or something. Went to Radio Shack and found some gromets that are white and made for coax cable. BUT - I will have to cut the cable to push through the gromet and then put a new connector on the end. SO - I also got a coax cable tool and a hex tool for locking it on there. Also picked up some batteries for the cordless phones in the house as the old ones won't hold a charge any more.
Wife has about finished cataloging our dvds and tapes - over 2300! I have a little section of just my train and toy train dvds
Tardis is ready after nice chats with RT, Jeffrey, SJ, and Charlie tonight. Jack, I'll have Mike pick you up on the way over here so we can pick out some movies for the flight tonight. Let's go!
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Brutus, thanks for paying my SS. Now thank me for paying your salary. Just paid my quarterly Capital Gains Tax [sale of a farm to help keep Mom up until she died].
Good morning all,
SOSO in the weather area. Congrats on 4000, Jim! I did free weights at YMCA. First game of my season is tonight. Having usual first game of season jitters. Should not bother me but it does. "My" soccer girls got pounded again 4-0 on Tuesday night. Long season. Wife subbed yesterday and will again today. Told her she was paying for Chief's SS lol. I had the regular fare on the dining car for breakfast before sending it on to "Points East". TBIL after the game but someone else will have to drive. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a foggy 50 degrees. Got cold last night. Going up to a sunny 74 degrees.
Today is a busy day. Grocery shopping and chores to do. I will be busy most of the day. Maybe I can relax later this afternoon.
Dining car is here for the usual breakfast.
Y'all have a great Thursday.
Chuck
Aloha from a sunny Crystal Lake where it is a brisk 47. Fall has fallen here. Jack, congrats on your 2K posts. You know, I never look at the counts. Maybe that's a good thing. I'm cleaning up Chicago in anticipation of your visit. Considering a run for mayor. Look what it did for the Chief! Dennis, are the gators just around - do you casually run into them like we do at Hilton Head? Caught up on Top Gear last night - watching old episodes. Lunch with pastor, have a couple of projects, including paperwork for the refi.
Hello all,
Been lurking lately not much time. Been having some issues also, a prayer would be appreciated.
Glad to see that Earl had little impact on every one.
Anjdevil, good luck and a prayer on your job hunt.
My son's job prospect is still there, thanks for your prayers
Brutus, Congrats on 4000.
Bob, glad to see you are on the mend.
Navyjack, hope you & the Mrs are feeling better.

Morning. Off to throw some .243 bullets at some paper. Want it right for some foxes, coyotes, groundhogs and maybe a deer. Prayer time at noon at Main Street Park. Political fund raiser at 5 PM. Town Hall time in between.
BanksRoy, send some of that rain my way please.
Banks - don't worry. Oct York is coming and thus it will be pouring rain soon in PA.
Still raining a little here. Should end tonight. Weekend will be nice and low 90's but very humid with all the water about.
Good to hear most are on the mend. Continued prayers for NavyJack's grandchild.
54/75 today sunny.
RI my daughter had a 3 year old GE dryer plastic part holding drum wore out. Repairman said replacement part was the same one. Out it went still looking new. Everything now is throw away.
Loved Chet Atkins, got LPs back to to 50s and a boxed set of CDs. Grannys babysitting today, kid went to school 1 day got up sick the next morning. And the saga begins again.
Enjoy your day...S.J.
Mornin' boys. Mornin' English. Weather can only be described as beautiful here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Just got home from Goodyear, where I needed 2 front tires for the . Stopped at DD for .
Chief - If you accumulate any more critters, Mutual of Omaha might ask to film in your backyard. Any wilderbeasts...?
