Jack - Manure on shoes is a common sight at the restaurants we frequent. Adds to the atmosphere.

Don - Great buy on the scenery. I am envious!
Banks - It's nice to have city neighbors that understand when cows get out. I know from experience. Fortunately, we are well away from any county road where the cows could interfere with traffic.

Just a quick spash and go.
SirJames posted yesterday that he was going out to mow the lawn, thereby guilting positively influencing me to do the same. Mowing the rear was a two hour project because now is the time of the year that I start lowering the mower blade for the eventual shorter winter height. Mowed twice, in two directions. Bagged and emptied about 8/40 gallon barrels of grass onto the compost pile. Leaves not much of a factor yet. Was hot and filthy at this point anyway, so I started to clean dead stuff and a few weeds out the wife's flower gardens. Then it was time to trim, but I out of weed wacker twine; so I couldn't finish the edging. After the job was done, the dog felt compelled do some maintenace of his own and start remarking his territory. yard work is a never-ending process for me, not an event.
The weather forecasts for my neck of the woods has been changing daily. One front is approaching from the West while TS Nicole slowed down and is just arriving now. Original forecasts earlier in the week called for 4+ inches of rain for me, but it looks like I now may get off with just 2.
DougM.....so Rahm Emanuel has resigned his post as the President's chief of staff in Washington for a run at Chicago's opening for Mayor. For most of my life there has been a Daly in office, first Richard J.(1955-1976) and then his son Richard M. (1989-2011). That's over 42 years between father and son. Say what you will about their old school poitics and imperial attitudes. Chicago remains an amazingly beautiful, fascinating, and relatively clean city which in my mind has improved with age.
Winds are picking up and severe thunderstorm warnings flashing across the bottom of the TV screen, so I had better get the dog out before the SX%T hits the fan.

Got swimming pool cleaned this morning by #2 son. Did a great job. I think the swimming is just about over for the year. Temp is down to about 74 now. Was 80 at the high point.
No trains with Thursday group last night. Too hot and humid. Going out to lunch today instead.

hey jack, as a kid who was brought up on the northwest side of chicago, i can say it has always been corupt but peaceful. when we drove anywhere as kids, we had a five dollar bill in our wallet in case we were stopped by the cops for their lunch, i had it happen to me twice. good memories. i cant see rahm imanuel as mayor. go figure. navyjack

I spoke too soon, just when I was getting ready to go out for lunch, the bottom fell out of the sky. It rained like Niagra Falls for about l/2 hour. We also had some hail. This is very unusual for this time of year in Southern California. It's too early for the rainy season but the rain was welcome.

Feels good to be home for the weekend. Tropical Storm Nicole was not as bad as expected. We had flooding and some outages, but it could have been worse. The winds have slowed down and it s getting cooler. This weekend I am planning to cut the grass, work on my son's truck and split some more wood.

Sunny 60s today, rain expected by morning. Nothing newsworthy today, but the banilla and root beer are ready..Granny bought me a giant choclate covered donut, we could cut that up too. So Brutus I am waiting....S.J.
I think the interview went well, although they haven't made an offer as of yet. The title of the job is Cleaning Room Technician, so I thought that it would be in a lab doing semiconductor work. Wrong. It is actually cleaning finished metal parts in their machine shop. Being that it is shift work and only pays $11/hour, I am not sure if I'd accept. Maybe I should wait for something better.
The good news here today is that the Everybody Loves Raymond boxed set that I bought arrived, and I've been watching that to take my mind off of the job hunt. All 210 episodes plus bonus content. Here is one of my favorite scenes.

James T - love that show and that's a great scene Best of luck on that job, sure hope you get it if you want it. Sounds like it's a step up and you can always keep putting in for other jobs, right? I don't like shift work though, not if they keep changing your hours.

Char's numbers were a little better Thursday, so they will do follow-up on Monday. She feels really bad, though - aches and pains and nauseated, etc. All has to do with inflamed liver and spleen. They think her body will take care of it right now, so monitoring. In the meantime, going back to work is on hold of course.
Got a little money from work for hitting out goals, about 1/10th what I would have liked. Think I'll splurge and spend it on the new Iron Man bluray tomorrow on the way home from work.

Good evening everyone. Was a good day yesterday (now). Worked early and then done. Had an Angio Screening done, where they do an ultra-sound on the carotid arteries to make sure they are clear, then they do blood presser comparisons to the arms and legs. This is a good way to see if you have peripheral artery disease. All was clear, but I do have an irregular heart rhythm. Not to be concerned. Anyway, For most of us here, it would be prudent to have one of these done. My insurance covers all costs as part of my "Wellness" visit.
Pat, I did see the post about the physician's rail car. I have seen one of those before. They are neat, but I wouldn't want to be on one on a line without signals! I saw one that was powered too. It had a big center-mounted handle that controlled forward motion and breaking.
Don, tell your bride "great minds think alike". Now she is worried I am sure!
Jim, remember, it is always easier to look for a job when you already have one. I think it takes the desperation out of the equation and you can work your best deal. Good luck!
Tonight, took family to "Disney on Ice", which was the one with the "Princess Heroes". Kids loved it and we enjoyed the time with them. Bought each child one of those battery operated toys that lights and spins.....$20 each! Told the guy selling them that I felt like I had been "violated". Oh well, the kids loved it. Afterwards, we went out for cold stone ice cream and then came home. I am about wooped. Hope everyone has a great weekend.God Bless,Dennis
