Tropical storm Nicole.....about 4 inches of rain and winds topping 50mph expected before the weekend, starting sometime tomorrow.  So I thought it might be a good idea to capitulate to the wife's concern, get the lawn cut, the leaves picked up, and the grate in the street cleared.  But I never made it to the back yard where most of the lawn is.

Did you ever notice that when you don't get the yard work done the wife starts making racket about it?.  And then when you set out, determined to rectify the situation, she pulls you away and has you do other things, and the task at hand doesn't get completed?

And then the racket starts back up?  Bang Head

Later, gang.

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 70s.  Happy belated birthday, Pat!  RockIsland52, concerning the "chore" situation, been there, done that.  "My" soccer girls tied 2-2 Tuesday night in their last road game.  They play three games at home in five days starting tonight.  I had the regular fare on the dining car for breakfast before sending it on to "Points East".  TBIL after the game tonight.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Good Morning from WET Edison, NJ, another fun day at work. RAIN, WIND, TROPICAL STORM NICOLE.

What a great day for working for the electric & gas company. Roads are alrady flooding and the winds are cranking. Looks like it is going to be a long day.

Chief, looks like I will be contributing to your SS today.

Rich, I guess that you saw in the news our call for the car fire yesterday morning at 6:00 am. It was one of our sister company's call. Not often that you find a person handcuff to the steering wheel to a burning car. It was tied to a murder in NY. I was already at work and my son was getting ready for school.

Pat, HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY.

Navy Jack, Good to see you are back and posting.

Mike C, Win one for the kids.

Thoughts and Prayers for all in need.

Everyone, Be safe and have a Great Day.

Time to do the Morning Safety Huddle, "Safety Is your Responsibility" is the Topic.

Aloha all. Happy B-Day to Mr. Lawson!  Looks like another pretty Fall day here in Crystal Lake - my brothers, mom and sister and their families are coming into Chicago from all across the country for a sort of reunion - we've never all gotten together so the weekend should be stressful (there are prima donnas involved) but  fun!

Running out of days to walk the youngest to school. He wants the excuse to ride his new bike.  If he was just a 1/4 inch taller, it would be easier for him but I support his perseverance. LOL.   Jack, your chore experience sounds very familiar - I start something, get interrupted for to do something else, start that, then get interrupted for something else, and so on and so on. But it seems to get done. Kind of.  Prayers for Mrs. Brutus.   Yes to Charlie for helping Sir J with his computing machine.

Thanks for the birthday wishes. They are all appreciated. The date wasn't advertised because at my age it is a "Don't Ask - Don't Tell" deal.WhistlingWink

I mentioned Tues. AM was spent enjoying the steam trains DVD's. Well, the PM was spent herding the cows out of the neighbors woods. I guess the day averaged out.Smile Banks, ever have your cows leave home?

Beautiful rain last two days! Should revive the pastures. two more months of grazing!Yes

Bob - why not replace your EE with Jim!

Dennis - The train DVD showed a cycle used by Doctors on the RR tracks in the 1920s. The doctor road the train up the mountain, did is doctoring, and peddled the cycle back down the mountain on the rails.  Ever heard of this? Wander why he didn't peddle up the mountain?HmmWhistling

HI GUYZ,

Well got back from anual salmon fish trip and had a great time as always.  BRO landed and released two big males that were 27lbs. and 22 lbs.  I had about a dozen on that alot were over 30 lbs. and couldn't hold em on.  We are using 12lb. test line and 10 foot noodle rods and that should do the trick but for some reason line was breaking.  It wasn't the drags they were working fine, maybe old line had something to do with it?  I will post picks this weekend.

Happy B-DayPAT wish you many more.

SHAKE and BAKE wish you a speedy recovery.

Thanks for the well wishes on the interview.  I feel very confident about this one.

Afternoon All.

Happy B-Day Pat, as usual I'm a day late and a dollar short. Dunce

Boy oh boy, do we have some weather moving thru here today. The heat finally broke but we are having lightning like I have never seen here before, unfortunately according to the radar weather maps the vast majority is occurring where the rain ain't falling. Sigh

DJ, Your "car sick" story made me smile, not a vindictive chuckle but a memory chuckle from years ago. When my daughter was about nine we were heading for the Big Bear Ski area but we only had chains for my Datsun King Cab so that meant she had to ride in the jump seats. Needless to say after an Entemanns donut stop and a few hairpins up the mountain road she gets carsick where there are no shoulders or turnouts. Oh Thank Heaven For That Empty Entemanns Box. Laugh

Blue Angels here this weekend, hope the weather improves otherwise it will put the kabosh on that.

Museum tomorrow, monday it will be closed so we will be doing some scenery/accessory change out for halloween.  Clown

Later Y'all

Good evening all,

Happy B-Day Pat!

Pretty comfortable day weather wise today.  I kept buys at work and the day flew by.  I am pretty much over my little cold; just a little bit of coughing to work out.

Tomorrow, my wife and I celebrate our 16th wedding anniversary.  I will remind her once again how blessed she is to have me Smile, Wink & Grin.  After work, we will drive down to OKC for dinner.  Her cousin will watch all three of our kids for us while we eat in peace.

S.J. - I believe I have enough time to swing by for some banilla tonight.

Regards,

Joe

Happy B-Day Pat, hope it was a great one for you.  Around these parts, the cows getting out is a constant issue.  Several years ago, an elderly couple was killed when they hit a cow and it went through the windshield of their car.

Fife, no problem on the Baltimore thing.  I used to date a nurse up that way and know there are plenty of bad areas.  I did like the inner harbor when they had the tall ships in port.

Don, when taking high dose antibiotics, it is a good idea to eat yogurt.  Helps replace the good bacteria to help with "digestive issues".  Even when the regiment is done, take a few days afterwards to return things to normal.

Well, it has been a busy week for me between church and work.  Finished my case this morning, had a nice lunch with my bride at a nice outdoor cafe part of the hospital, and then headed to the dentist.  Took care of my first cavity since my teenage years....many years ago.  All is good and now that my face is no longer numb, I ate some shrimp and pasta for dinner....yum!

Happy Friday Eve! as Laz is so fond of saying.  I have some last moment chores to take care of and then  it is off to bed.

God Bless,
dennis

Sunny and about 70 today.

1st session of P.T. today.  They tell me that I have a plica - roughly explained, an inflamed wrinkle in the knee joint lining.  Stretching and ultrasound.  N,o I was not as lucky as Chuck.  Don't have a cute therapist - he isn't even close.

Nothing on the train front.  Just waiting on the two axle magnetraction motor for the #600 switcher.

Happy birthday for Pat, good luck on the job interview Jim, and prayers for those recovering from various ailments.

All for now.

Pat.....it was your birthday?    Hope you didn't step in any cow manure before you went out to dinner to celebrate.  The other patrons would take offense and think that essence was you and not the cows.

JimmyT.......good luck on the interview tomorrow.  Just make sure you don't tell them you know us and you'll do fine.

Happy anniversary Joe with condolences to your wifey!

Good Evening,

Dennis - Funny you should mention the thing about the Yogurt, my wife was just talking about that to me yesterday.  Suggesting exactly the same thing, I read your post to her tonight, and she simply said, "He is a SMART man".

Ray - Think I will make it to the train meet on Sunday in Duarte.  With the meds currently taking is says stay out of the direct sun.  So we are going to take Sunday Off.  I will most likely have 2 other guys there as well.  Hopefully will see you there.

Jim - Thoughts and Best Wishes for Friday.  I was surprised when I saw what your degree was in.  My Bachelor Degree is in Industrial Technology with Electronics Option.  (Major was subsequently renamed to Engineering Technology.  For the first 20 years Head Hunters were calling weekly trying to fill positions, it was definetly a matter of selecting "whom" you wanted to work for.  Wish those times were still here.)

Doug (DG) - From what I see in the forecast looks like you will be seeing more weird weather this weekend, its pretty much going around us, from you right up to Ray.

Also I had an EXTREMELY interesting day!  A local restaurant closed after 25 years, they had a G-Scale train running around the entire dinning areas, 2 large rooms.  Anyway I wasn't able to get any  of the trains or track :(  But the scenery that was behind the trains.......  This scenery is countryside oil paintings on canvas, all hand painted.   All of them are 24" wide, and the majority are 16 feet long.  The scenes represent various landscapes across the country.  From the west coastline, to the Redwoods, Spires and Mountains in Utah, Saguaro Cactus and Desert, plantations, farms and fields, forrests, Side Wheeler River  Boats, and much, much more!  Ended up with a total of 161 feet, 11 sections,  and the cost was like $5 a section.  So it will end up at the top of my train room as backdrop scenery,   Hopefully I can get some pictures of it.

Hope you all have a great day!!

Good morning all,

SOSO with temps in the low 70s.  Watched "my" soccer girls play very well in a 2-0 loss to a very good team.  Tried to give the JV team a little inspirational talk which backfired in a 7-0 pounding.  "Lose one for the Gipper".  The HS boys lost their last game of the regular season 1-0 as well.  I had the regular fare for breakfast on the dining car before sending it on to "Points East".  TBIL anytime tonight.  Last race of the IRL season is tomorrow night.  Sarah will have Pink sidewalls on her tires.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Don......it certainly is uplifting to read not only the text of your post but also the tone.  From the tone it sounds like you have turned the corner on the bugs.  But pharmaceuticals and time can only do so much.  The rest is up to you.  I hope your life and schedule permit you some more time to reach 100%.  Prayers for your continued recovery.

We have some theories about how your path crossed with these bugs but cannot express them in this family forum.  Whistling

Hello all,

Still on September POT???????

Still mostly lurking but trying to keep up. Belated Happy B-Day to Pat and congrats to DEmay & his Mrs on 16 years together.

Chief, Hay has been done for a while now. Most of the second cutting was chopped and fed because the pasture was gone. It was so short there wouldn't have been much hay anyway. Corn will be ready soon with the 'beans not far behind. They'll be a few weeks early because of the dry weather.

We received 5 + inches of rain this week. I didn't empty the rain gauge on Tuesday and it was overflowing this morning after Nicole. All that rain and the creeks came up very little. A good thing. Maybe the pasture will grow and I can cut back on feeding hay.

Pat, the cows get out on occasion. Since I am surrounded by housing developments they don't get far before someone lets me know. Usually they will help round them up.

Still piddling with grandson's four wheeler. Got to admit it's got me baffled. Got it narrowed down to a fuel problem but can't pin down why it won't run good.

Last Hill Climb of the season on Sunday. Maybe some train time coming up??

Please keep my son's job prospect's in your prayers.

Best get back to work

Prayers for all who may need them

Aloha all. Wow, lots of rain out east I guess. Absolutely Beautiful here. I drove into the city, parked at our newest suburban campus and took the CTA Blue line into work - it took me longer to take that train than to drive 35 miles in rush hour traffic. LOL. Always enjoy the view from the L.

Joe, Congrats on 16 years!

Jim, Good luck with the interview.
