Good Evening From The Jersey Shore:
We are on the Prep For The Storm Panic at Work. It looks like that I may be on the work and rest period mode all weekend, depending how hard we get hit or if mutual aid is requested by another electric company in or out of state. For all in Earl's path, may we all fare well along with neighbors and family.
Thoughts and prayers to all in need.
John
Evening all
A lot warmer in Southern Ohio than it was in the Idaho Mountains!
Chief - Safe travels
For those travelling this weekend my prayerswill be with you.
I plan on painting the house we're fixing up. Almost ready for market! We are going to look at a used 5th wheel camper this friday. I love the truck camper but it does not work work well with the kids. We will see.
May God bless
Jim
Good evening all,
I hope everyone is adjusting to the new format well. So far I have not had any problems, I only need for my eyes to adjust to the new colors and layout.
Had some storms here this evening. Fortunately I was able to get the grass cut before it started.
I won an eBay auction last week, but have not received the item (Lionel Airplane Hanger) yet even though it should have arrived today. I sent the seller a note yesterday but have not heard back from them. I believe the seller might have been a fraud. I will contact eBay/Paypal tomorrow. I won another auction tonight, an Ameri-Towne Burke building. I'm looking forward to building it and these structures seem to be a good size for a smaller layout like mine.
Time to relax with the wife.
Good night,
Joe
Good evening Y'all! Mike, no, they still won't listen to you! It is just how they are programmed.
I have not had any issues with multiple emails, In fact, I notice tonight that the box on the bottom is not checked for me to "uncheck" it. Hope it stays that way.Chief, hope you have safe travels and a good time up there.
Well, had another interview for the movie tonight. Of course this follows two days have long cases and hours to boot. It went well, and everyone was happy with the result....at least that is what I am going with before they edit the piece. Still, it was fun and the guy asked a number of good, thought provoking questions.
I have another early start in the morning along with a number of cases that will keep me going for quite some time. Hope to get a little time in with the family before the weekend. Lots of items on the agenda, so we will see.
Hope each of you is blessed this week.Dennis

Happy 9/2...
Still not feeling well and, true to form, I have a job interview at 11AM...and now I can't sleep. GO figure...
Finally got my CTT delivered to NJ and perused the contents...looks interesting.
Also gave blood today for our injured firefighter. He is concious and alert. One of the guys had a cell phone video and he's looking forward to getting back in the swing. Good attitude will do wonders for his recovery...
Being unemployed, I'm also on Earl watch...may wind up at the firehouse for a time. But, we'll see....
Fire Drill tomorrow night....maybe I'll learn sumthin'...
If I don't get back, be safe my fellow East Coasters, and have a safe Labor Day...
Hey John, if you're not on call, are you going to Wildwood? T-Minus 14 days and counting....
See ya later...

Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a clear 68 degrees. Going up to 90 today with sunshine.
Today is a busy day. Wife is grocery shopping and I am doing a few chores. Hope to relax later.
Dining car is here with the usual for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Thursday.
Chuck
GOOD MORNING GUYS, ALL THOSE IN THE PATH OF THE STORM, BE CAREFUL AND MAY GOD BLESS YOU. CHIEF AND OTHERS IN NC, GET THE H--L OUT AND JOHN, WHO WILL BE WORKING THERE HELPING OUT FOLKS, DO NOT TAKE ANY CHANCES. HAD A PEACEFUL NIGHT HERE BUT WE ARE SUPPOSED TO GET A LOT OF RAIN TODAY. WINDY TONIGHT. NAVYJACK
Good Morning
72 going into the 80s.
We had about 10 minutes of rain last night need 10 hours to get the grass green again. Had a nice chat with the guys, hope I get everybody. RT, Brutus, Doug, Wes, Charlie and myself. No world problems solved. I'm gonna stay lazy today, Kroger tomorrow...S.J.
Battening Down The Hatches On Cape Ann Taxachusetts,
Since Chief is off the air for a few days I got to wondering where his lake house is relative to the NC coastline and the hurricane. Anybody know? Rolesville is at least 100 miles off the Atlantic coast.
And Fife.....what do you do with your yacht? Pull it from the water?
Day before yesterday in Gloucester MA 12 miles North of here 13 people had to be rescued from the water.....some due to rip tides and others swept off the rocks while (amateur) fishing. One fisherman didn't make it. Great White sightings have fallen off the radar for the time being. Strong rip current warnings at all of the beaches today.
Sunny and clear with temps forecast in the mid 90s again. We've been getting hurricane warnings/hurricane news/hurricane history here nonstop 24/7 now for the past 3 days. Not much has changed with the predictions.....Cape Cod and the Islands will be hit with the worst of it as they get "rimmed" while the eye should pass about 100 miles East out over the Atlantic. Arrival late tonight. NH and ME campgrounds close to the coast (like Old Orchard Beach ME) are pretty full, but I suspect may be cleared out for safety reasons.
I live about 110 miles North/Northwest of the entrance to Cape Cod and a mile off the water, and I should expect sustained winds of 40mph +, high tides, heavy rains, with coastal and local flooding. To be safe, I'll be tying down the deck furniture and some other details. In 1991, Boston/me got hit with nearly a direct hit, Hurricane Bob with winds hitting 100mph, lost power, and spent a quiet and romantic sanity-challenging evening by candlelight with the wife and kiddies.
MikeC.....you da man with your observations on your granddaughter!!!! Prayers the Docs' wait and watch approach is successful.
Later, gang.
Jack.
IF IT WON'T COME LOOSE BY TAPPING ON IT, DON'T TRY TO FORCE IT. USE A BIGGER HAMMER.
Aloha all. Grey and humid - feels 'stormy' - like something's coming on but nothing yet. Supposed to get cool later this week. Prayers for Rich's job interview today...probably begins in a couple of minutes. Nice conversations last night with Brutus, Pappy, Sir J and Charlie. Feel free to join us on Yahoo Messenger. Got a couple of things to try to accomplish today - look into gutter covers - how they work; soundproofing an outlet between kid's rooms; getting a bike gear fixed. . .
Morning all!
Raining here all morning and some last night. Temps for Labor Day weekend will be 90-95 with 65 at night. Most Excellent!
Good luck on the interview Rich!
Busy day today - and tonight have to start packing for the weekend lake trip!
Have a great day all!
Regards, Roy
[true story...neighbor who was laid off had open heart surgery in december and worked 37 years as heavy duty truck mech, was denied unemployment. had nothing. we helped them with food. was at a gas station with wife and brother in law pumping gas and helped a man with a gas can by pumping in five gallons. said he was out of gas and had no money. when he got back in car, wife asked, who he was talking to, she swore there was no one there. a week later, bruce got his ss disability approved and got his union pension also. do good to others. you never know who you are helping. trains beat going to bars ladies. remember that about us guys. navyjack
Lunch Time at "Storm Central".
Storm preperations are under way, including getting all essential vehicles and equipment out of the shop. We don't know what we are in for yet, but we have Tropical Storm Warnings. well I guess that I wont see any Banilla tonight. Have an extra scoop for me SJ. Navy Jack, I will keep an eye out for myself and the other guy. Rich, I will probably work every Saturday from now to December. Between storms and required equipment inspections and repairs this is our busy time, so it has been years since I went to the Wildwood Convention.
Be careful everyone.
I ALMOST FORGOT.....PRAYERS RICH ON YOUR JOB INTERVIEW!
Wise words NavyJack.......we all tend to feel we have to help others (if/when we can) with something large or life-altering. Not so. Every act of kindness big or small helps.
HudsonJohn.......stay safe, brother.
Good afternoon all,
Today is the wife's birthday and we just finished lunch together. I thought about buying her a train item for her birthday, but realized that might not go over so well. I decided the best option was a day at the spa.
Supposed to be some more storms here tonight, but as of right now it is sunny and pleasant. My 7y/o is supposed to have baseball practice tonight, but that may change if the storms roll in.
CNW and I figured out the new Conversation (IM/Chat) function works. That looks as if it could be a very cool tool.
Back to work,
Just in case you had not heard.. Lionel will be offering 2 S3 Milwaukee Northerns in the new catalog. #261 and #267... long overdue for us Milwaukee fans. :)
Charlie a.k.a. MichiganRailRoad714 (Charter Member TTC)
Rich,
Good luck with the interview.
Not much going on today. I was going to put the AF 282 back together, but I need to find screws to hold the chasis in the boiler. Cut the grass out front earlier. I also called about getting the PGT's alternator rebuilt, and suprisingly, it is not too pricey. Getting it out is going to be the tough part though. Need to work from the bottom and move the a/c compressor out of the way just to get at it.
Evenin' boys. Figuring things out with the new & improved forum. Earl, then Fiona, then Gaston...can only dodge so many bullets.
RockIsland - I'm slipped in a fairly protected cove. I stopped down there today to just let out the dock lines (for expected 3' enhanced tide), throw out the fenders (for neighboring boat), and bungie down the mainsail cover. Other than that, all you can do. Isabel taught us that pulling a boat up on the hard isnt always the best option.
MichRR - Make sure you preorder that 261, as that is sure to be a very popular piece.
Not been a good day watching daughter, sil and grandson move to NYC.

Watch it or you will find yourself wearing Scarlet and Gray and teaching in one of those hallowed halls by the Olentangy River.
Rich - Good luckwith the interview, I'll keep your intention in my evening and morning prayers.
Not much new on the train front. Just beginning to catch up from being gone last week. Bidding on a Washington set on eBay. They typically go for more than I can afford., we'll see.
Jim- Hope the 282 is going good. They are one of my favorites!
Need to do some reading then off to bed.
Good evening everyone. Lots of storm reporting on the news. Jack, Chief's lake house is a good way from the coast and should be fine. May get some heavy winds that cause some problems, but I doubt it.
Buckeye, sorry to hear about the move for your daughter's family. We have a time before ours empty the nest, but I am sure it will hurt when that time comes.
Rich and John.....WaaaaWaaaWaaatch the Tramcar, Please!!! (you know what I mean) Rich, hope you hear back from whatever job you are blessed with. Also, hope you have a fun time in Wildwood. We used to go to a place right on the parade route that had OK food and a outside porch area. Hey, it beat sitting on the curb!
Well, it has been a long day and a long week. Going in early again in the morning, so I will sign off. Hope everyone has a safe and blessed night,
Dennis
