Scotty it sounds like Sir James is going to need 110% out of the dilithium crystals tonight!  Big Smile

SJ, pulled over in the Tardis tonight for driving under the influence......of banilla.  I better go look for my helmet for tonight's ride.  Big Smile

Fife.....I don't think Brent and Fifepup will be able to get through the metal detectors on their way into Brent's company's 4th of July picnic.  And you can't build one healthy person using all of the remaining healthy body parts between the two of them.  Smile,Wink, & Grin

DougDG......doesn't CA have some sort of restrictions on the use of personal "charcoal" grills for cooking and outdoor fire pits?

Jack.

Jack, I am going to beg off on answering that, if I completely express my feelings about our state politicians & state/regional/county regulatory agencies the coffee pot would probably be put on no less than double but more likely triple super secret probation. Banged Head

Jack,

The air quality has improved considerably with the exception being fire issues during the summer thru fall fire season. Believe it officially started yesterday but some of the brush rigs and CDF stations have been manned early this year. With the way the economy has been going out here the air will probably continue to improve. Whistling

SJ......that's good news!  Both you and Rich (anjdevil) now have "choppers" that work!  Smile,Wink, & Grin  Hang in there, buddy.  Angel  Prayers that you continue to feel better and that you find the right Doc to get to the bottom of this crap malady.

DougDG, RaySP, and Don......the smoke from the Quebec province fires is still blowing down the East coast and still has us in a total haze down here in Taxachusetts, past the Cape, and into Rhode Island and Connecticut.  We need for the wind direction to change to an Easterly direction and send the stuff across the pond to John Baker.

Is the CA air quality considered better now than it was 3 or 4 decades ago?  Wife called last night from your sunny climes, said the weather is beautiful.  The folks from work were going to take her out to dinner for seafood on the water somewhere, Newport Beach perhaps.

Good Morning

Left early for some shopping, got home the same time rain showed up. I can't feel any damage to the new dental work so hopefully the meds are helping. For a small group there are lots of things gong on with the coffee drinkers. I hope everyone does well.  Heck lets run some trains.....S.J.

Wes Whitmore

Morning fellas...

We spread 10+ yards of bulk mulch over the weekend at the new house.  It took 2 days!  Looks good though.

So it turns out that both of my eyes are infected.  I haven't been able to keep my contact lenses in and happy for the past week.  Went to the eye doctor yesterday and he put me on some $50 antibiotic eyedrops.  Hope the help.  Wearing really old glasses now.

Memorial Day parade was soggy, but the kids had fun.  Jack made the local news parade coverage again this year.

Worked on the train table with Jack last night.  We hooked up an MTH Fire Station and he probably hit that button 50 times before I made him get ready for bed.  I hit it a couple times too :)

Wes

Wes.....I've been wearing contact lenses for 44 years, and most of my problems have been self-inflicted.  I've been lucky, to say the least.  Like you, when an issue sets in, I have to scramble to lay off the lenses for a week or two and make due with "old" glasses that are not cutting it.  Surgical correction is looking mighty tempting.  I got a stye around January each of the past two years, first the right eye and then the left..  I looked like Rocky Balboa after 15.  Each stye took over a month to clear up 80%, with hot compresses, antibiotics, and lens abstitnence. I've gotten more religious about sterility and lens cleaning/disinfecting (gas permeables).  We'll see where that takes me.  My optometrist of 20 years recently seems to be undercorrecting for my up close reading needs......particularly for less than perfect lighting conditions.  This is particularly disappointing when one invests a lot of money in varilux lenses and has them also for sunglsses, then I wind up buying reading glasses at the drug store for $12.  Banged Head

So Jack is your VP of QC.  If your set-up can withstand him, you must be doing it right!  Loved the pictures.  Miles of smiles.  Big Smile Thumbs Up

DougM.....the Black Hawks better take it to the Flyers in Philadelphia.  The Bruins went to sleep and watched a 3-0 advantage in the win collumn and a 3-0 edge in game seven to flush the season.  Philly isn't dead until the fat lady sings.  There is no quit in them.

Aloha all from a stormy, grey Chicago where it is in the 60s and humid. Rain on its way to Michigan. Wish I could send some damp to Texas.  Took the family out for pizza last night to celebrate the end of the school years - now I have to make a few phone calls about summer school LOL, Hope students enroll in my summer course. I need the $.  Prayers for SJ at the dentist. Condolences on your father's burial, 8n. Glad your mom is doing well.  Jack, there are little patches with the Nike 'swoosh' on the shoes worn by the Jordan statue today. Funny!

Man.....I can't keep up!

Rich.....you are a road warrior!  What a haul!

SJ......I was glad to hear you are still doing so much better.  A trip to the dentist or the doctor is no picnic except sometimes there can be a visual distraction or two as Chuck has found.  Wink

RT.....we have your back, right after we take great delight in teasing you.  Thank you for your timely "renewal" efforts for the rest of us, even if you got lost in a mental time warp.  BTW.....it's 2010.  Big Smile

Dennis.....sometime kids forget themselves and do what is expected, to our surprise.  Fear not, they are highly resistant to brainwashing and should return to normal shortly.

Hudson.....realizing our mortalility can be a scary thing.  I was raised with the expectation that wakes and funerals are not to be missed.  Nothing needs to be said at those uncomfortable situations.  Our quiet presence says it all.

8N.....what a weekend you had.  Among the miles driven, the family visited, and the emotions of your Dad's interrment, you must be fried.  I was glad to hear your Mom is so encouraged by her PT and knee replacement that she is contemplating having the other knee done.

Roy.....prayers that you get some rain.  We are too dry overall up my way too after being under water just two months ago.

Fife.....you are assuming Brent's unbroken shoulder (left side vs right)  matches up with Fifepups' repaired leg.  One of them may have to hop backwards.  Wink  Your observation may have spelled the death of my keyboard!  Big Smile

Ray, Don, and Doug.....if I had gone along with the wife to CA I would take you up on your offers.  I was left behind to hold down the fort and take care of the dog.

Later, gang.

Good morning all,

It is rainy in SE Indiana.  Hopefully it will clear off in time for my game tonight.  I am so looking forward to the season.  (For a long time, that was the only thing getting me up in the morning.)  Watched "Glee" last night.  Again a bit uneven, but at least they try something different.  I had the regular fare on the dining car this morning as it rolled in from "Points East".  TBIl anytime.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a sunny 68 degrees. Going up to 78 today with a chance of thunderstorms later.  Humidity high.

Today is a busy day. I have paperwork to do and chores around the house. Legs are achy, as usual, from PT yesterday. Plan on taking it easy this afternoon. I need to run trains.

Dining car is here and it's the usual for breakfast. Then, it's all aboard for all "Points West".

Y'all have a great Wednesday.

Ray......she lands in Long Beach in about 15 minutes, so you, DougDG, and Don better go into hiding.  She refuses to take any sort of livery to the airport on this end and wants me to drive her.  That way she can be as late as she can be and then can beat the horse (me) to make sure she doesn't miss her flight.  If I came out there to drive her around, I could dump her off in Santa Ana and we would have time to go visit the "infamous neighbor" and some train shops.  Wink

Jack,

Just let me know,  (BTW I know the path to both Doug's and Ray's places also.)

Evening all!

Back from Memorial Day weekend at the lake. Told the 16 year old he could invite up to three friends. Due to the "new math" taught in schools today we ended up with SIX 16 year olds. OW! Actually they were very well behaved. The good part for me and the missus is we had to pitch a tent for them as there was no room in the INN for all of them. Luckily the weather cooperated and although low 90's during the day, the evenings cooled off nicely. The tent was in an RV spot so we had power and brought a fan for the tent. We had an old family tent (high ceiling and a partition) that sleeps six. I almost gave it to Salvation Army a few weeks back when I was cleaning out the garage and for some reason I put it back in the garage.

Weatherbum here says we will hit 100's this weekend. One wag even predicted 104. Too hot already. May was a terrible month for rain this year. Hope the drought is not returning. My house foundation cannot take anymore abuse, so the big oak tree in the back yard may be history this year if rainfall is deficient.

Sunny and high 80's here today - humidity to match.

Got back from our Indiana/Michigan trip this weekend, unloaded the car, did laundry and mowed the lawn.

Visited our oldest son and his wife in Indiana and got up to see mom in Michigan on Monday.  Inturned dad's ashes on Monday too.  Somehow, Memorial day seemed fitting.  Dad served with the Army Air Force in North Africa during WWII.  I need to contact the VFW about a veteran's marker for his grave.

Interesting news from the family - one of my nephews in enlisting in the Army this summer.  E-mail from the Finish exchange student we hosted years back informs that we now have another exchange grandbaby. They had a baby girl on May 28.  My sister's cancer is still in remisson, and she has gained a little weight back.  Mom is having PT on her shoulder and is talking about having her other knee replaced later this year.

Train stuff - not much.  Still considering the Texas Freight set in the 2010 catalog.

Prayers for healing and of thanks for safe travel this weekend.

Back to work tomorrow - got to keep those Social Security coffers full so checks don't bounce.

Good Evening from the Jersey Shore,

79 and raining hard. Just got back from a wake. A friend from work's Dad died. He was 78 and died from a heart attack. He was a great guy and a Lionel fan. Also a guy that I work with died suddenly from a heart attack on Saturday. He will be missed also. What a way to start a week.

Thoughts and prayers to Fife Pup, Sj and all those in need.

Rich, glad that you made it back safe. Get some sleep.

John
