Afternoon all!

Just back from lunch at Appleby's with the missus. Had the soup and salad lunch special. Good and only $5.99! Daughter is a waitress at A-by's so we sat in her section. She got a good tip - clean up your room Wink

I posted on the Chief's Attack of the Beavers post some video of the accy (before and after). Take a look.

Hot here. Will hit 100 both days this weekend. News said last year was 8th hottest on record. It was actually a very nice weather year but apparently temps avg's were higher than normal.

Chief - the porch looks great!

Fifer - hope the youngun' heals up quick!

Doug M - congrats on the youngest's soccer goal! LAst game so great way for him to close the season with a burst of self confidence.

Have a great day all!

Regards, Roy

Chief, the porch looks great!  I am sure Miss Pam will enjoy more days out side than in the past.  We are looking at doing a similar project on the back of the house.  Have a open deck that we can use about 1 week  a year in which it is not too cold or the heat too extreme.

Been out on the tractor most of the morning.  About half way done, but have to take it slow as grass (weeds) got too high for one pass.  Wife had taken a ACLS recert exam today and is on her way home.  Hope to get rest of lawn cut before she arrives.  Looks like Italian tonight!

Check in later.

Morning guys - rise and shine!  No OT today - gonna snake a vent and cap it, then maybe have a few brews and solve the problems of the world later with my friend.  Watched some Woodwright Shop episodes from the DVR this morning.  "Hew while the wood is green!"

FYI - SyFy (Sci Fi?) Channel has a tv movie tonight based on the old Edgar Rice Burroughs book A Princess of Mars.  All about a gallant confederate soldier who is transported to Mars (aka Barsoom).

Also, Deepdiscount has their biannual sale on now if you are looking for any dvds of trains or stuff - the code is SUPERSALE for an additional 25 percent off their prices, plus they have free s/h.  They also sell books and stuff, but I'm not sure they are on sale.  Just FYI!

Morning all.  The ATTACK OF THE BEAVER POST IS UP ON SEPARATE THREAD.

Did not get home in time for popcorn but did reclinerize for a few.  We had to rush from dinner at steak house to Pam's 4 year old niece's [the one that stays with us some] dance recital.  Yes, one of those.  Was a biggie as had adults and on down dancing.

Photos of the porch as it is now.  Not finished yet!!!!  Gutters, vinyl railings on deck and steps down and vinyl siding on side of deck to be done.  I have electrical outlets done in porch.  Now to hang ceiling fan [on extension rod], outside outlets on post at skirting and two spotlights at each corner of porch.  The time consuming part is all of what would have been exposed wood has been wrapped in vinyl coated aluminum.  All had to be measured, bent, trimmed and fittied.  Good thing, NO PAINTING ever.  Even screen door is PVC.  Screen system is mounted by screwing down track, putting screen over holes, "ropping" it in and attaching white cover strip.  If screen needs replacing, pull out ropping and redo each needed section.

Front view

Deck side view

View from screen door

High ceiling and where fan mounts.

View from door coming out of living room

Left side view

Now to mow grass, pick garden and spray all.  Then take the attack of the beaver to Miss Edna's.

Thanks again and God bless.

Doug,

My son was funny, when we got home I told him to go shower and I would clean up. I never saw him run to take a test before. He must be growing up. As I was cleaning up I watched him leave in his pickup (to be 17 again, ah, no thanks) I wondered how they grew up so fast. He is the youngest. I remember taking him to his first train show. Now he does a lot of the servicing and maintenance. Next June he graduates High School.

Just a splash and go.....I hope Chief thoroughly enjoyed his birthday with the relatives and got home early enough last night to eat popcorn, to reclinerize, and to wonder where on his layout he is going to place his trophy.  Mega kudos and a sincere thank you to Roy for creating the Mona Lisa of train accessories.  Hope the Chief wet his pants in front of his staff when he opened the box.....Big Smile

Aloha. Grey and cool here. Might rain. Last day of spring soccer for the youngest, then a wedding later this afternoon. John, I like your priorities: a successful fishing trip is a great preparation for the SATs. Looks like a great birthday was had...  Brutus, Sears is selling some of its iconic brands outside its stores these days. Probably an effective strategy.

Back at the 'scope after the Memorial Day weekend. Hope everyone had a good time. Had fun in Phoenix w/ my friend and the carb conversion on the bus went well. The weber is way easier to adjust and work around than those double Dells. Was way too over-carbed w/ 4 barrels on an 1800.

Had a nice chat w/ Navyjack before I left for Phoenix. Didn't have  a chance to catch up with him when I got back. I am guessing he is still looking for a computer.

Fife - Prayers for a swift recovery for your son. 500 lbs!? Got steel holding one elbow together from adjusting valves on a '56 International. They can be tricky...

SJ - hope you are doing better.

Hail to the Chief! Need to fix him up w/ a Super Chief set!

Good Morning from the Jersey Shore: Cloudy and 79, forecast to reach 89 and scattered thunder storms.

Chuck, Can you slow them down in Ohio until Monday?

My son and I went out fishing at 5am. Caught and released a bunch of bluefish. Back in by 7, he had to tale his SAT exams at 8. He showered and was gone by 7:30.

Chief, I hope that you enjyed your birhtday.

Fife Pup and SJ get better soon the summer is here.

Thoughts and prayers for all in need.

Good Morning everyone.  Hope the birthday boy was able to sleep off any over indulgance from his big day.  I agree about Roy, did a first rate job and I also know that CTT is always looking for articles from the group.

RT, I had to go back and find out what Maytag item you were having repaired as on the radio yesterday, they said that Maytag is recalling its dishwashers due to a fire problem.  Since yours is a washer, no worries.  But, if anyone has a Maytag Dishwasher, they may want to give them a call...they are either repairing them, or replacing.

Cloudy right now, hope it clears up so I can get the grass cut.  Still on call, but I have to get it done some time.  We got some "cheats" for son's 'lego battles' game on the Nintendo DS.  Kid has been spending a little more time than normal on it as he can finally complete certain levels.  They call them"cheats", but you can't complete some areas without them.

Hope everyone has a great weekend ahead.
God Bless,
Dennis

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a cloudy and humid 70 degrees. Thunderstorms, again, last night. Looks like more today. Going up to 80 with rain.

Today is a busy day. I have a bunch of paperwork to do. Looks like a good day for it. Maybe run trains later. Nascar race and ballgame.

Dining car is here and it's the usual for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Saturday.

About bedtime - watched The Wolfman.  In many ways it's a good old Universal Monster Movie, but it is bloody, so some won't like it.  The main actor was pretty good and Anthony Hopkins was great as always.  Talked with SJ on the phone for a few and RT on chat for a little while also.  Friend's Bro-in-Law is a plumber and said my problem is the vent on the soil pipe - so we'll snake that tomorrow and then put an open wire type cover on it to keep birds or leaves out.  If that works, then good to go.  If not, we'll probably know in a few months and can rethink things then.  I was going to leave the bathroom for last anyway.  Need to route some boards for shelves - roundover - and get those painted, or find some already made.  I'll check with HD tomorrow.  Hey - did Sears buy ACE Hardware?  I see they are carrying Craftsman tools now?  No trains today to speak of, but there was an old-time train in the Wolfman movie, which was neat - also a steam driven trolley/bus of some kind and another steam engine in another scene.

Okay - Tardis is ready to fly and I'm pretty tired tonight, so we'll see if RT wants to drive again?  We need to swing over to the birthday boy's house and see if he has that accessory wired up!

PS - HATS OFF to Roy, a real craftsman!  I truly think CTT could make a great article based on this project Smile

Happy birthday Chief. Happy B-Day

The Scott Joplin Ragtime Festival is in town this weekend  (music of Chief's childhood?).  I'll probably walk around downtown and listen to some of the performances tomorrow.  That will just happen to take me by the local hobby store Whistling.

All for now.
