Brutus - What brand is it? Do you like it? My string trimmer busted earlier this week. The pull cord snapped off. Of course it is about 18 years old, so no complaints. At $65, I should probably buy a new one rather than pay for a repair.
Been super busy at work. Long day yesterday - 13 hours at school. Another long night on Tuesday, then going to a convention for 2 days (Thurs & Fri). Also planning a trip to New Orleans. Anybody know of train related destinations or hobby shops in that area?
Take care,
Mitch

Aloha all. Even colder and wetter here. The youngest's soccer game should be 'fun' - might be a good indoors (trains) day after it.

Good Mornin Ya'll From Overcast Taxachusetts,
Just heard on the weather that snow is forecast for parts of Wisconsin and Michigan. I suppose that means Charlie, SJ, and da bear will be fiercely grilling/eating their steaks despite the elements and throwing back a few spirits to show their indomitable spirits. High 50s now. By the time The first week of April passed we had the most rain in a 5 week period in about forever. Now we have the opposite. Brush fires continue with some outbreaks. Today's rain accumulation won't come to much. I may have to break out the sprinker, at least for the front yard.
If you will recall, my wife wanted me to tear out the entire lawn and start over due to the ravages of our dogs and a couple of seasons of benign neglect. I was determined that it wasn't over till the fat lady sang, so I picked up all of the late Fall and winter debris with my mower and then dropped my first coat of fertilizer the first week of March along with the pre-emergent for crabgrass. Second coat of fertilizer with weed control goes on this weekend. The lawn has responded well so far. Water, sun, and fertilizer (with the "other" controls).....works every time if I just "do it." I am mowing on the mower's highest setting to retain a height of about 3-3.5 inches, just as the Scott's web site advises.
This turf battle will be will be won! Wife's prognostications will go down in flames by Memorial Day! My "I told you so's" will commence. Funeral arrangements will follow shortly thereafter.
Chief.....continued prayers for your Mom. You have all of her bases covered. Hang in there. Brutus, the same to you. The rest of us are taking none of Char and your challenges with this lightly. Spanky.....sorry to be a "pain" but it sounds like you are going to have to get your knee rehab progress accomplished in the short run with flexibility exercises and stairs to keep the muscles moving in the right direction while the hammy heals.....it works, and I've been there 3 times. One of the football players on my college team ripped up everything and we watched him as he walked up flights of stairs forward and back down facing backwards.....at the instruction of a former head trainer for the Cleveland Browns. The results were amazing. Chuck.....what can I say but "You da man!" Think back a few short months ago and then admit how far you have come.....an inspiration to the rest of us. And Brent, keep up your spirit and the body will follow.
Later, gang. Prayers for all those that need them. And if we don't need them, we will. That's life.
Jack
IF IT WON'T COME LOOSE BY TAPPING ON IT, DON'T TRY TO FORCE IT. USE A BIGGER HAMMER.
Mornin' boys. Good one, Charlie.
Time to digress---
Funny, work usually entails some type of payment or reward. Perhaps one should just play in their own back yard with threads like I hate your layout. Soooo much better for the hobby. I can honestly say you would never read such a banner on the CTT BOARDS. HERE, we believe in encouraging fellow train enthusiasts, not belittling their efforts.
Hmmmmm, will he run back and change his entries...?
On a sunny note--- HAPPY MOTHER's DAY.
Good Morning
High winds and 40s, thats it for the day. It sounds like winter out there, even looks like it. Seeds from the trees are blowing every where. Had a late phone chat with Brutus last nite, being computer challenged I needed his help fixing a problem. I knew what to do but forgot how he helped me fix it last time. Less that two minutes later I was good to go. Oatmeal for breakfast and a b/day party this afternoon will be my day. Finished CTT yesterday and its good to see it was back to CCTs again.....S.J.

OK gang! Sometimes people have "jobs" they do not like but do them anyway. They may even believe as you do but can not say so as they have to be neutral. Probably a complaint from some of our "lurking friends" that are jealous of our good relationships and the Coffee Pot itself. We know who they are so no need to call names. Respect the man's "job" and let it go.
Soaker hoses in place [actually ran them yesterday afternoon] which took a while. Put cages over 40+ tomato plants that are now 2 foot tall or taller. 4 that were started in greenhouse early have little tomatoes. About 12 more that are 1 foot tall to be done later. Disked the remainder of the garden to get rid of weeds that were starting to grow. Planted 24 cucumber plants and 8 cantalope plants in that disked area. Slept late even though the wifey and her sisters had yard sale starting at 7 AM. Got a ticket [wifey does not go] for a box seat at the Mud Cats baseball game [Mike C, the real American game. ] Will go to Miss Edna's and then to the game as it is next town over. Taking it slow today as worked [well, walked and then worked] from early to dark yesterday. Old man was tired and sore last night. Reclinerized immediately after wife's meatloaf and boiled potatoes. Woke at midnight and went straight to bed. Guess I am not 25 anymore.
Have a great weekend and don't forget Mother's Day.
Later.
PS: Charlie, SNOW?????? God bless Yankeland.

Good reminder, Chief. Wow, was it cold out at the soccer fields this am. Imagine a steady Fife-sailboat-type breeze, no, more like a gale, with gusts. and then it starts to rain sideways. Yessh. But they had fun (and me too). Now back indoors for the rest of the day
boy, am i glad we did not plant garden yet. we are supposed to get a killing frost tonight. must be because mother in law is coming over tommorow for mothers day. did i say that? no money left for trains this month so will have to be happy to look. have enough anyway. wife and daughter in law went out yesterday and had a nice seafood buffet. they deserve it. i love all moms, you guys, america, and jesus. feel bad when you are upset. hope that everything will improve and we can get back to normal. is it legal to say we are freezin our a-s off?
Good morning all, just went to watch ATSF #3751 4-8-4 with 5 car train enroute to San Bernardino for local festivities. Got a picture from roof top of one of the commuter station parking garages on the line. I heard it more than seeing it. My entire view was through the viewfinder of the camera. Picture came out good though.
Chief, good advice for the lads on here. Did I hear you say you planted 40 tomato plants? Good Lord, you must be supplying the whole town of Rollsville.
Happy Mothers Day week end,
Ray

Mornin' You bunch of Rednecks and Malcontents !
Boy was it ever a long day at the museum yesterday. But still lots of fun. Had one of my earlier purchases after getting back into trains, B&O ABA w/pssngr consist, and a 3 unit lash-up pulling a long mixed freight. Ended up being to pooped to do anything for supper, would you believe "Cup of Noodles" was it.
Everything unpacked and on the shelf or returned to proper storage containers. Now to get motivated to start on some of the non-train chores.
Charlie, Snow !!!!!!!!

Me thinks a certain town leader in SC has his own Farmers Market going! Can you trade a tomato for votes?

Got the heat back on, NavyJack. Brrrr. Of course, a month ago, it was just as cold. Did you know V-E day was sixty-five years ago. Wow. Listening to an old-time radio show - with President Truman announcing it. I've made a rats nest of the wiring for the semaphore and gateman. LOL.
As promised Laz here you go :)

Pat, I are one to. I wish some of these "so-called" educated people would learn the origins of that term. I spent many a day in my youth working in the fields, after plants were to big to get in with our tractor, doing things the "old fashioned way" using a hoe. Hence the origins of the term "rednecks", the people that worked the soil. Now it is only used in a derisive & belittling manner.
Oh well, as my Step-Mom used to say "This to shall pass", unfortunately it will take a while and probably feel like a kidney stone. I added the part after the quote.
Break's over, back to work.
Well you miss the forum for a few days and you miss all the excitement.Tried to find OTs post but seems to have been removed.Getting to be time to plant our veggies.Hope everyone is well and takes good care of the better half tomorrow.

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
No trains today. Worked 5 ot, then took a nap, then planted a couple tomato plants, had pizza, and now chatting with the guys. Not a bad day, overall.
Got Avatar on bluray - it's pretty good, but the story has some huge holes in it. Oh well, looks good right?
Banilla? Tardis is warming up on the pad as we speak
Good evening all,
It was a cold, cloudy, windy, and blustery day in SE Indiana with temps in the low 50s (perfect soccer weather, of course any weather is perfect soccer weather). Wind really wore me out. Came home and rested. One game was 16-1 and the other 5-4. I had bacon and biscuits on the dining car for breakfast. TBIL anytime. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
T-Minus 9 minutes and counting to Mother's' Day. Hope ya'll have a plan......I'm going to retire now. We had the grandkids tonight and they never seem to run out of gas. But I do.

Jim,
Thanks for the compliments on the Hudson. Just gave in a few minutes ago and bought a Silver Flash AB in chrome. I've never seen one outside of books before, and the BIN was too good to resist. Plus, there is a 7 day return policy which is nice just in case. I'll post pics when it gets here.
Morning Folks,
Pretty chilly here in South Central PA this AM, 44 but thank goodness the wind has died down. Glad there no snow like our friends in Michigan are facing.
Son and his gf are here for the weekend. Always nice to have them around. Give me a good excuse to make a real breakfast. Probably make some scrapple, eggs, and biscuits. Possibly some sausage gravy instead of the scrapple. I do love the scrapple even though it is probably not the healthiest thing to eat.
Heading to my brother's house today for a Mother's Day Cook out. Probably need a sweatshirt and jeans. Burgers and dogs on the grill are on the menu.
Sitting around the house drinking coffee waiting for the others to awaken. Son and his gf were out until at least 1:00 AM. The Mrs. likes to sleep late, even the dog went back to bed.
Happy Mother's Day to all.
