I did have to go out and show her how to do some difficult spots. She complained alot about the skyight wells. She is going to have a lot of sanding to do because she put the spackle on very thick. I kept telling her smoother is better than thicker because it is less sanding. I will say it really made me proud that she would tackle this without me.

morning guys. had a great day. i received a call from my cousin in orlando(retired army major), with ms, and his speech was so good i could understand every word. (a few weeks ago i could only understand every third word he said because of paralysis. seems he found a new dr, who gave him some injections and took him off one of the medicines he was on and he can talk much better and i was real happy, as i grew up with him, and i talked to him sometimes every two days, and it was hard to see his condition getting worse and worse. so see never give up and there is life beyond the va hospitals, and the dr's don't know everything and are probably bound by all kinds of rules and regulations, and cant think for themselves. sorry to go on and on, but he was (taken care of) by the va for years. he got ms while he was in the service in panama. was in charge of a battery of 155's and was a west point grad. i always looked up to him even though he was in the army. he was much smarter than me and was able to go to the point. pat i bet you are busier than a one armed paper hanger. can only imagine the chores that you have to do. thanks rt for taking care of those guys at the hospital. you know first hand what most of them had to put up with. sbmmbob, hope that you are ok. when i was a kid, i wanted a corvair convert. real bad, never got one. are you restoring one? got a bid in on some more die cast cars. has anyone bought the standard catalog of lionel trains? i wanted to order the mpc version and was wondering if anyone has seen it. (love the corgi die cast 1/50 vehicles), think the english trains are so cool. i guess that is why the shakespeare express by lionel is one of my favorite sets.. navyjack

Good morning all - prayers and special good thoughts going out to Frank's mom, Rich, Bill's wife, Mike's wife, Spanky, Bruce, Chuck, Jim, Jim, Jim, and of course Brent. I'm sure I missed a few, but general prayers for all and our loved ones and friends.
There appears to be some kind of bright light outside, so I suspect the sky is on fire? I'm not familiar with this phenomenon and must explore it later! I hear we might have bad storms again tonight, though
I need to dig a small hole and install a metal post/bracket to hold my garden hose. I have a bag of cement somewhere in the basement.
Brent - I agree and follow Kurt and Jim's advice on the mud = thin it down. I also have had some good results from sanding sponges and there is very little dust from this method - it all goes into the water

BTW, I was looking at my layout the other day, and I remembered your suggestions on improving the second level. I think I can lower it 3-5" without clearance issues, so I might give that a try sometime.

Didn't you install a smoke unit in a 350 Royal Blue? I have been looking at one, but I'd only want it if I knew if a smoke unit could be installed.
I've been real busy here putting the finishing touches on my group's senior project. The good news is that all this school stuff should be behind me after tomorrow morning.
Jim – On the Royal Blue I repainted I took the chassis off a 282 I think and it fit. I drilled out the smokestack and filled in the reverse lockout slot. The smokestack is a little more forward than the exit hole of the smoke unit just a little and the threaded stack/filler tube does not fit. It is offset by maybe 1/8”. The smoke comes out OK and the filling is a little tricky, I use a pipette, like I use on my Franklin rather than a regular funnel.
The side linkage will work as well.
The 356 Silver Bullet was a smoker and I have one in my junkyard. I’ve never compared the chassis / shell to the Royal Blue, but something must be different with the Silver Bullet loco. I’m thinking my next project will be to redo the Silver Bullet as a Circus Train loco. I’d like to have the Circus Train, but they are very $$$$$$$$$. Maybe some day I’ll get lucky on one.

WOW soupy here today got to 80 with 80% humidity. Ran a nice easy 6 miler, first 6er this spring. BUCKEYE and FIFE probably feel it? I felt great. Last nite went trout fishin with BRO and we caught and released 25 trout in 2.5 hours. He got 15 I got 10, hope to catch and release more this weekend? Had fire ate burgers and hot sausages, YUMMY!

Was up to 86F 90% humidity..very uncomfortable...a slight breeze made it a little tolerable...should be lousy sleeping weather tonight. Watched the Yankees beat the White Sox 12-3, sorry Doug..worked on the Aspen Wagon going to resurrect it from the half dead...Have to decide on the instrument panel (custom or stock), replace the upper control arms (custom or stock) then redo the interior. Also need to quiet it down a few decibels. 1 step at a time. Did all the grocery shopping as well...so that's done.
Princess and the son went out to the town center for shopping and movies, I think they saw The Losers, just need to confirm that, they just got home.
Finishing up booking to Orlando Thursday for the Princess Birthday on Friday..Animal Kingdom here we come...
Trip to Georgia tomorrow as far as I know, it's still on. Up toward Waycross, and a lunch stop in Folkston for the Funnel, hope to get some nice CSX action.

74 stayed overcast, heavy rain moved through from the SW but just missed us. Nice repaint, to bad the 350 never had smoke and chuff. We had what might have been road kill today granny fixed it in the crock pot with veggies and it tasted great. I never did get to the trains though. Well banilla is ready for the thingy and you working guys get ready for monday.

Good evening folks. feel a little better, but still got a way to go. Was on camera this morning and tonight. Had good services. Took one of our friends who is here on edit detail for the movie out for lunch with our family. Great guy from Chicago. Told him about Doug M. and we may be visiting this summer.
Had something interesting happen tonight upon return to the house. The key would not open the lock. Also would not open the back lock. I took the front door lock apart and found that it has worn too much. Key could not throw it all the way. Now, I am planning on going to Home Depot after work tomorrow and changing all the locks in the house. Then, I have to do some work on the movie set. Will be a long day, but am getting used to it. Hope the progress on the health continues.
Fife, congratulations on the years of service. I have not heard anyone who has retired from the job say the wish they could go back. Hope the two years pass quickly and you get to have plenty of train time and time on the boat.

Brutus - If memory serves, that bright object in the sky is called the sun. I'm all confused about the blue color though.
Sumbob - I've never treated the problem of pilots derailing on switches myself, but I have noted that others have added weight to the pilot, or loosen the mounting screw to allow the pilot to droop a little more, or, if there is a spring, they stretch it to increase the tension. The pilot on my Marx 666 started derailing recently, so I'm going to have to work through the list of 'cures'.

Quiet Sunday. Spend the day mostly catching up on sleep. Got a little rain this afternoon, but it is a gorgeous clear evening.
Dennis - regarding your locks, Quickset makes an upgrade that uses a KW10 key w/ six pins. I put them in my mom's house and they have worked well. Schlage is among the best as well, but they can be pricey. The standard 5 pin locks which use the KW1 key basically keep honest people honest. I can open one w/ two small screwdrivers in just a couple minutes. I used to re-key locks at the hardware store.
8N - I'll try some stronger springs for the pilots. I haven't run the FA yet, but the 1615 didn't seem to have any problems.

Today is a busy day. I have some errands to run this morning and my PT session this afternoon. No train time today. Ran trains yesterday, and watched the race. Had some quality time.
