Going to stay away from my LHS. I twisted my own arm and asked Burt to put their last Billboard car aside for me.

Charlie.....has the bear moved into the spare bedroom yet or eaten the tires on your car?  Smile   I read somewhere in the past couple of months of the police somewhere responding to a dangerous dog call.  The dog proceeded to destroy the tires on their cruiser and then moved on to the fascias (bumpers).

Jack, I will know Memorial weekend if any damage has been done.  I am greatly concerned about how close he is coming to the hunting cabin.  When I'm out and about on the property I am carrying either my .40 or my .44.  As per wifeys request! Whistling

Quit raining today about sundown.  The grass needs mowing and the herbs we got a week ago need planting.  It will happen sometime this week.  Hopefully, will get a few tomatos and peppers in this weekend too.

Saw the last three laps of the F1 Monico race Sunday morning when I got up to let the dog out.  Didn't feel like getting up at 6:30 am to see it all.  I'll have to take a look at the VCR to see if I can program it to start at a given time.  Turkey is at least another time zone earlier than Monico - probably two.

Ran trains for a bit - gave the turbo liner some exercise.

All for now.

Ray - on the way!  Jack - we have laser guided as well as photon torpedoes!

No backups tonight.  My friend Jeff will come over and help me in a few weeks and we will redo the toilet stack so there are no right angles on these soil stacks.  Also put in a new clean out on it too.

Tardis is ready and I am tired, so Mike will have to drive.  Let's go!

PS - BUCKEYE!  YUCK!  YOU "WIN"!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

NAVYJACK .... yea after a long while of buying other types ... guess what ... I decided to go with the old rustic look on about all the buildings .  Not until I got the hobo craze stuck in my mind was I going that route . I'm still going to have a bit of more modern/upscale a bit on the one end but I just love those battered = weathered types .... I think they'll fit in better with a logging train theme . Even when me and the wife go for rides in the mountains and deep country I always stop in any old time Ma and Pa store we find . There's 3 stores like that near here .... the one's got cracker and pickle barrels .... old creaking wood floors ... antique oak display cabinets ... it's like stepping back in time 100 years to go in .... I love it . Big Smile It's called Wilson's store ... it's on the list of americana sites to see . They still sell hard tack candy and kerosene lights ! Not lanterns .... lights for your house .... the non fancy kind and all the parts for them . As Fifey can tell you many people in the mountains around Cumberland still use them and pot bellied stoves for heat .... along with the old wood burning kitchen stoves like you see in the movies .  And don't be surprised to see an old boy on his porch with his 12 guage and dog ... a buddy from California came to visit a few years ago and he insisted I take him there .... well it was just like that ... he flipped out ... he was like a little kid .... we stopped at my uncle's house and there he was = dog - shotgun - and all wood powered living . I think he filled his camera with pics to take home and show his friends .... LOL .  He made me spend the whole darn day there . And yes ... he got to sip some real MOONSHINE .

Hi All,

I was not complaining about spending time with family and the grandchildren. I wouldn't have it any other way. Eventually the lawn gets mowed. I just say to myself "For all that I have done wrong, I must have done something right.  Also, I see all of the children looking at their parents saying: THANK YOU FOR LIFE"

Smilehey wes, those buildings look cool.  they sure ain't plasticville.  they will look great if you make a logging settup. i love buildings too, and die cast cars.  i have a corgi 1930's mack truck lettered for mkt that i just got. most of my vehicles are, from that era.i dont have any buildings of the quality that you have there for sure.  mine are all plastic, bachmann, k-line, atlas, walthers and ihc.  maybe about 40?  all in there boxes ready to be put on an imaginary layout someday. i really envy you guys that have a layout or have the ability to make one.  god bless you all.  navyjack

 Hello all,

Dennis sent you a PM,

The more I think about it a 30 amp breaker and #10 AWG wire is more than enough for your 4500 watt water heater.

Only one element at a time is energized. 4500 watts divided by 240 volt says it will draw 18.75 amps.

Sorry for the quick stop but Dennis' water heater caused me some concern

Catch up again later

Prayers for all who may need them

Good afternoon all,

Papadiesel, there is no such thing as traveling too much to see kids play soccer.  I envy you.  Four games in one weekend!  Navyjack, her name used to "O'Fikih", but she dropped the "O'" so people would not think she was Irish:-)

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Sorry.  I messed up the spelling  It's F-a-k-i-h.

Mike's got it right about the travel to the kid's stuff.

I used to joke with my wife about April T-Ball weather in Chicago and then in New England, and I actually felt sorry for the kids and my son.  Then came the marching band and color guard competitions at Boston University's Nickerson Field in driving rain and sleetstorms for the daughter.  But the coup de gras had to be driving 450 miles down to LAZ territory in a blinding snowstorm for one of my son's football games, only to have the weather turn to sleet and high winds as soon as we got there and took our seats in the stands.  Or the time my wife flew down to LAZ territory via Washington DC for another one of the son's football games while I had to get there via plane from Seattle via Denver.  With Harrisburg, you "can't get there from there"......directly.  Banged Head

We only get one shot at some of this stuff.  We need to make it count.  We'll  never forget it, nor will our kids and grandkids.  Even if it is SOCCER!  Big Smile

Good morning all, skipped festival at church yesterday (we went on Saturday).  It looked like they were doing fine without us.  I gave my left over ride tickets to grandson.  Next year I think I will buy just one ticket to ride the ferris wheel.  That's the only ride I can handle now anyway.  Ran trains a little yesterday afternoon.  One pile up when train on inside main ran through open crossover and hit train on opposite track. (asleep at the switch).  Now that Fife has given me something to troubleshoot for the noise on my GP20, would'nt you know that it stopped making the noise at least for now so I will wait until it does it again.  Old addage, if it works, don't fix it.

Ordered some pizza last night from a local Italian restaurant.  Got sticker shock at the price. Almost $27 for one large chicken pesto pizza.  Dang! for that kind of money,  I could have a steak and shrimp combo at our regular restaurant for almost three people.  I'm not cheap but am I out of touch on these prices?  If this is the norm,  I will have to start making it at home.

Light drizzle this morning.  I'm hoping it will be enough to water the lawn.  Typical weather here this time of year we get what is called June gloom which is foggy mornings and sunny afternoons.  Around the first of July, it goes away and then it's Katy bar the door!  The Hot weather starts almost overnight and stays hot through September even in to October.

Navyjack, watch out for those bathing beauties.  Don't rev your engine too high.

Chief, wish I lived near you and I would come over and help you eat those tomatoes from the 40 plants you set out.  Did you plant any corn!  Maybe it takes too much water.  I just don't know.  We used to plant anything that would grow but nowadays, some things are so cheap in the market, it isn't worth the trouble.  Nothing like home grown for flavor though.

Brutus, if you got the Tardis cranked up now, I'll leave the light on for you.

Ray

Jack,

No need to apologize for that.  Anymore, it seems the suspects have more rights than their victims.  Disgusting.  Maybe sending the authorities would get him to respond.

I am glad to be working more now since I'll actually have extra $$ for a change.  I want to get as much paid off on the Sunfire as possible, and maybe look for a 89-92 Probe LX or Probe GT.

Good Mornin Ya'll from Sunny Taxachusetts,

My apologies for last night's/this morning's rant about the crunched quarter panel on my wife's new car.  It is a speck relative to the bigger scheme of things in life I need to concern myself with.  But when someone damages my stuff, either through negligence or by pure accident, and then doesn't belly up and accept responsibility, making things all that much more unnecessarily aggravating, it makes my blood boil.  Not the way I was raised.  Fife......my FIL suggested I should have driven down to the local police station to report the incident.  But I figured the accident report on file with the police would prove nothing since it would contain my side of the story only and would prove nothing to my benefit.  The guy lives two miles from me and I have his phone number.  I was tempted to...... but the wife's cooler head has prevailed in this one, even though it is her new car that got popped.

Hey.....what's with the Southern incursions into our Northern territory?

Fife.....glad to hear you got out sailing, and, as Laz would say.....: "No PILE UPs"  Life is good."  Pirate

DougDG......hope you have the dentist/oral surgeon save the results of the blasting so you can put the remnants under your pillow for the tooth fairy.  Angel  Good luck today.

Chief......good luck with your physical today.  You made no mention of a mental exam.  Beware latex!  And don't let that female Doc take advantage of your young, impressionable, trusting self.  Consult Chuck for defense in such predicaments.    Big Smile

Laz......do you sleep at the end of a typical day for you or just skip straight to a coma?  Smile,Wink, & Grin

DougM......when we stopped off in Cleveland on our road trip to/from your neck of the woods, the local buzz there was a budding NBA championship and the potential loss of King James to the Bulls in the off-season.  Also, I'm on the Blackhawks' hockey bandwagon heron in.  A storied franchise to say the least.  Chicago sports teams are in a drought.  Sad

Papa.....I hear ya about the mileage.  My wife has us spending too much time driving all over the place for this and that and not enough time taking a blow or leaving time for important stuff like bailing mowing the lawn. Banged Head  Sir James and Chuck never seem to to have their mowing schedules interrupted, except by rain.  Must be good wife training over the years.  I need to consult them about this.

JohnBaker......will you please get that volcano mess straightened out?  Word here is that the London airports are still closed this morning.

Pat.....I never watch the window dressing after the car races unless I wear my sunglasses so the wife doesn't get cranked up at the oggling and the eyes popping out of my head.  Laugh

NAVYJACK......Rima Fikih.  DOWN, BOY!!!!!!  I think she is Irish.  Take a couple of the "little blue pills" to calm your heart.  Did you know that Pfizer originally marketed them as a hypertension and angina medication for (improved blood flow)?  My nephew worked for Pfizer at the time.  The Docs discovered the "little blue pill" wasn't as good as the meds that were already out there and sent the reps out into the field to retrieve the samples.  The Docs surprised them, said there was none left because the unintended side effects were wonderful.  The rest is history.  Big Smile  http://lifestyle.iloveindia.com/lounge/history-of-viagra-4818.html

Brutus,,,,,,are the laser-guided missiles still functional on the Tardis?  If the guy who hit my wife's car doesn't come clean, we may need to do a bombing run to straighten out his attitude, like Ronald Reagan's "statement" mission about a quarter century ago.  Re the cussing and cursing......it never seems to do any good to ward off my family's propensity to clog and overflow toilets.  My daughter was sitting at the kitchen table for Saturday night's dinner/her b-day celebration and asked why there was a huge water stain on the kitchen ceiling.  "Ask your mother!" I curtly replied.  I was waiting for the wife to then get on my case about repainting the ceiling, but she decided to remain silent on that "honey do" item.  Banged Head

Buckeye......isn't it great to be able to "plunk and go" with the boat?  Makes things so fast and convenient, you almost feel guilty not taking her out for a spin.  Pirate

Dennis.....Mexican food.  Yummy!!!!  Dinner  My weak spot, right next to pizza and pasta.

JimSP......sounds like you had a great weekend with the kiddies.  Quality times they will remember always.  Thumbs Up  We hit the Lincoln Park Zoo (Chicago) with our grandkids every time we visit the Great Grandparents, even in the Winter.

JimmyT......had to laugh about your comment about the drastically increased work hours now that you are finally finished with school..  Reminds me of Maynard G. Krebs on the old Dobie Gillis TV show (1959-1963), with Dwayne Hickman and Bob Denver.  "WORK?!?!?"  Shock  A little before your time, started out in black and white, but the show was a hoot.

Banks......how is that cement work coming along?  Did your Dad fire you yet?  Smile,Wink, & Grin

Rich.......need an update on the "Princess Diaries."  Fife too.   DougM seems to have survived his adventure trip to the train station this morning without his daughter falling asleep at the wheel.  When he gets home tonight he may exclaim:  "Gee, I swear there used to be a tree there at the end of our driveway!"  Laugh

Angel Prayers for those who need them.  Have a good one, ya'll.

Jack

Aloha all. Grey and cool this am. The daughter dutifully drove me to the train at an hour she hasn't been awake for probably more than a decade. Big Smile

Jack, I am stunned at the Bruins fall as I have been at the Blackhawks rise. Lotsa band-wagoneers here given the lowly straits of both baseball teams. But the Celts sure put a hurt on the Lebrons. That team is history. Maybe Mr. Wonderful is thinking how he'd look in a Bulls uniform.

Hi All,

Had a great weekend. A baseball game and two soccer games Saturday. Mass and two more soccer games Sunday Only drove 150mi. Daughter and son-in-law did dinner. We love to watch our grandchildren !

Going to stay away from my LHS. I twisted my own arm and asked Burt to put their last Billboard car aside for me.

Was reading the thread "NEW LAYOUT CONCEPT"  and received some good info on living a long life. They both included vitamins ( liquid or solid) but did not include grits or Polish kielbasa.

NavyJack, Sounds like you received a stress test.

Prayers for those in need. Especially those "IN HARMS WAY" and those who hate us.

Mornin' boys.  Overcast and 57 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Looks like we're going to be the recipients of that rain His Honor's been a-hopin' for.

Buckeye - I could lend you the Fifepup 2000 for that painting job.  Runs on sourcream Pringles and Dr Pepper. Thumbs Up

RockIsland - It's nothing for me to get a call from Insurance companies 6 months after an incident.  Love how the stories change after Cousin Smedley with a couple law courses at the local community college chimes in.  It's always nice to set the record straight. Approve

Chief - Good luck at the exam today.

Hi GUYZ,

Had a great weekend.  Did some work on addition and cut grass.  Finally planted tomatoes and green bell peppers.   Went trout fishing with BRO caught and released 15 trout in 2.5 hrs.  Had fire with burgers and dogs and OL MILs.  Good time.  Ran trains about 2 hrs this weekend NO PILE UPs.  Life is good.

Stay frosty,

laz57

What a beautiful weekend we had.  Sunny, temps hit 70.  Celebrated my daughter's b-day at our place Saturday and we decided to eat at home, brought food in from our favorite restaurant so we could relax and enjoy each others' company.  Granddaughter aced a significant math test, then held my feet to the fire by making me take her out to the local Dairy Queen as I had promised I would do if she did well.  The old ice cream bribe, works every time.  I wish other things in life were that easy.

I don't know about the rest of you guys, but I read the Chief's comment that everything he needs to have planted for the season he has in the ground.  We are about a week from a spell where the temps dropped into the 30s, but I think it may finally be safe to start buying/planting the annuals.

DougM......can you even believe how the Boston Bruins folded in the playoffs?  The Blackhawks/Bruins matchup dream is history.  Up 3 games to none in a best of seven series and then proceed to lose 3 straight.  Then in the seventh and deciding game they go up 3-0 and lose it!!!!!  Arguably the worst collapse in professional sports history.  Banged Head Banged Head Banged Head  There is no quit in the Celtics, however.  They sent Lebron and the Cavs packing in 6, and then stunned the Magic today on the road to take away home court advantage. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

The knucklehead who popped my wife's new car April 28 in a parking lot (while I was standing there) remains in hiding from his insurance company.  We had exchanged info at the scene, and he apologized.  I reported the incident to his carrier and to mine the following morning.  His carrier assigned a claim number, gave me a direct dial number to their rep who would be handling the matter, took care of the collision estimate and photos at one of their drive-through claim centers, and approved my choice of body shops pending knucklehead's response.

But he has returned no calls to them or to his agent, nor responded to their written correspondence.  Yup, he's insured.  Sure, I could have just turned the whole matter over to my carrier, fronted my $1,000 deductible, and let them handle it.  Up front they said they would do this.....fix my wife's car and chase him/his carrier for reimbursement.....my  deductible to be returned to me later.

I thought this way would be easier and quicker without a lot of back and forth.  WRONG!!!!!!!!!!

If knuclehead denies the incident happened, or denies it was him behind the wheel, he'll have a hard time explaining how I have all of his info IN HIS HANDWRITING.  Right down to his driver's license number, expiration date, his vehicle registration info, expiration date, and insirance info......stuff I would have no way of getting unless I broke into his truck and knocked him over the head to get it.

Whatever happened to just taking responsibility for one's actions and doing the right thing?  By law in MA., his carrier has until this Thursday to adjudicate the claim and give me the green light to get my car fixed, with or without his version of events.  To be continued......

Later, gang.
