Okay brent especially after my smart remark the other day if I was close I'd be the first there wish I could help I enjoy helping on prodjects like that.
Whoo hoo on the adobtion route I think its great idea. My wifes 2nd cousin in texas has adobted a child from ( I think ) china. And want to go back and get a second child wishing they had gone for 2 right off.
Tim boy the question was asked out in the forum about a dozen times since I came aboard and 99% wish they would delete the star system but for some reason even after 2 different foruems we still have them. I personally don't pay attention to them and there is a few who left our mist because of different of feelings basicly to be polite that a few of us believe come back about once a month just to give coffe pot and other topics that certain folks here will start and give it a 1 star rating to lower the rating which in most cases really don't fase most of us.
Have a good day all

Brent.......this is the best news! Congratulations on this happy and wonderful milestone in your and Susan's life.
Best Regards,
Timboy, Regarding the star rating, I too agree with everyone else it is useless. However, I dont think it will go away. I believe it is an intrinsic part of the forum software used here. If you will notice all the other forums by Kalmbach Publishing also have it.
Ray, Not sure whether you were joking or not, the "Star Rating" is the ones on the listing of threads. You can vote or rate a thread at the very top of a thread when you open it. Just click on the appropriate stars. A few years ago there were also stars under the posters avatar. Those were "earned" based upon the number of posts and individual posted. That system was dropped when the software was changed. (We had a few 5 Star "generals" when that system went away. About that same time a volume rating and ranking profile was done. And the results were grouped into some various sorts. (What and why I dont know). Anyway that bar graph appeared and it seems to correspond to the groupings. If you click on Chiefs avatar you will notice his rank is 1, only meaning he has one of the highest post counts. I have no idea on when the segments begin to fill in, but there is a correlation to the number of segments and the total number of previous posts.
Brent, Sure wish I was closer. I would definetly help out if it wasn't nothing more than picking up tools and trash. Best Wishes.
Don
What's a star rating? You must mean those dots under each name where some are filled in and some are blank. Maybe if I get some stars and add a couple of bucks, I could buy a cup of coffee.
SPMan
I ignore it because this is a train forum, not a popularity contest.---JT - I'm snooping. I haven't posted much because typing with one hand blows worse than... on nevermind we aren't allowed to post about politics here...Jack - I see you were the editor of War and Peace... Navyjack - I am Lutheran and believe that children should be 'Christened', Baptism is really a personal choice. In The Bible John Baptised adults in the river... don't remember anything about children/babies. But this is really a personal choice between the child's parents. Just pray that you parented your children well enough that they will make the right decision.Chief - Ever get that battery charged?Buckeye - TGIFF! ---

I never pay any attention to the star ratings ..... only to what I'm interested in .... who cares how many stars one has really ?

Doug,
I understand you intent, but can really understand why people feel that way. If there is a group of guys standing around talking, and a new guy walks up and makes a comment. And that comment goes unacknowledged and no response, then obviously that person will walk on, feeling somewhat rejected. Same thing here. And many of the comments here reference an off line occurrence or previous situation. Its just the way it is, and I dont think it will ever change and don't know that it should.
I frequently will look at the other threads (with the exception of those asking for "value" for something), and will try to respond if I feel confident that I have correct information to offer. Especially if the thread has 0 responses and a low count on the the originators avatar. Just to encourage the person to come back to CTT.
Doug .... what a lucky man you are ... push a button and the little man pops out .....
Aloha all. Rainy but warm-y today. I scored bigtime at the downtown station after buying more tickets. For some reason there were all sorts of product give-aways - so had to carry to work: six boxes of cereal, a newspaper and a 3-ft-tall pepper plant (from Burpee). Glad you dodged the twister, 8n!I wish folks who felt this thread was 'exclusive' would just come over and post. Had a good train night. Thanks to Sir J, I had a list of instructions to try to wire up a 151 semaphore and 45 gateman. (I swear I would do great at this electrical stuff if I could see how it should be done.) Anyway, you'll be amused at how I first hooked everything up for the 151 backward, getting confused by which wire was what. I also made the mistake of installing it deep in the back of the layout so I would crawl out, futz with it, then crawl back and try the power - that got old ,but I persevered. Now I just have to adjust the 153c as Thomas trips it so fast, the flag dips like a curtsy.Since I couldn't find the other 153c, I got the bright idea of hooking up the gateman to an existing, in-use one. Don't laugh too loud. Then I remembered Brutus and RT telling me the wire is like a circle - from the track through the lockon to the 153c and back again. So I rooted around for a switch I could use temporarily. I tried a sound activation button, a momentary activation button, all sorts of Atlas buttons from my n scale days (I could 'hear' Bob (Lionelosi) chastising me about that in my head so I didn't use them), and finally a button I'd saved from when I took apart the Hyundai's dashboard. That worked! So now I can snap the button and have the little guy pop out! Yay! Inordinately proud of myself.

Thanks guys for putting in a full week of work. Now I know my SS check will be on time.
Lets not get too deep into religion. Forum masters have asked us not to go there. I am in this case. If you study the Bible [and I have], it states that if you confess Jesus as Lord and Savior and Son of God Almighty, ask for forgiveness, then you are saved. Who cares what denomination or Church you attend or don't attend [you do not have to attend Church to be saved]. If you study farther, you will see that Jesus said, accept and love God Almighty as the only God and that is the first commandment. Second is like unto it, love thy neighbor as thy self. All the rest hang on that. Now that means everyone is your neighbor no matter what religion he is.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a cloudy 52 degrees. Going up to 72 today with a chance of rain.
Today is a busy day. I have an errand to run this morning and some usual chores to do. This afternoon I will relax. No train time today. I got my July issue of CTT yesterday. I think I will read it today.
Dining car has rolled in from "Points West" Breakfast is the usual.
Buckeye.....TGIF
Y'all have a great Friday.

Good morning all,
It may rain again today in SE Indiana. Held off long enough to get yard mowed. Rested afterwards. I had the regular fare on the dining car for breakfast before sending it to "Points East". Practice speeds again all over the map. Paul Tracy was second slowest one day and second quick the next. Explain that one. I sure hope Sarah is sandbagging. TBIL anytime. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Another quiet night here at the 'scope. Got a lead today on a couple of Corvair engines. Can use some of the parts and they are a mile form the house and free. Guess what I'll be doing when I get home...
8N - glad the twisters missed you. Read an interesting article in the monthly newsletter on the '65 Corvair and thought of you.
Don - sounds like some fun mods to your switcher!
Well I guess my email worked. The refund went through today. Will venture down to the big city (Safford) tomorrow as I forgot to pick up a couple of prescriptions on my way out of Tucson yesterday.

Rainy and high 60's here today.
TWO tornado warnings this evening. The first occurred just as I was getting ready to go home from work, so I was stuck there in the shelter until the all clear was sounded. The second was about an hour later. The city sirens went off, we flipped on the TV and were treated to a helicopter picture of a partially formed funnel cloud off to the south west of us! Grabbed the cats and the dog and headed for the basement. About then the doorbell was ringing. Was the neighbors from across the street, wanting to borrow our basement. No problem, all are welcome to shelter the storm.
The funnel cloud did not touch down and missed us by about a mile and a half. The joys of living in tornado alley.

Think I will stay out of the controversy, (unusual huh?). Previously I purchased a TMCC kit from ER for a couple of Beeps I have. Installed both of them and really have been pleased. But never installed the electric couplers, due to mounting issues. Finally tackled it, installing the couple required a little modification of the frame/chassis, but not real significant. Did need to fabricate a small plat to secure the oupler with. (Used a "knife" type track connector). Coupler works great! But no centering spring, which was a problem. Was able to come up with springs by cutting the head of a couple of "safety pins" and securing it to the coupler with the mounting screw, and the spring tension legs positioned on the inside of the frame. Worked really great. Now the Beep is a real useful switcher. Came out better than I thought it would.
Buckeye, I think the Chief is ticked off over his new engine. Hopefully will be able to get it working.
Later.
hello sir glad to meet you and i appreciate your input. it really gives the wife and i a big problem, but we are going to turn the matter over to god, and in his infinite wisdom, let him solve the problem, as i am not smart enough. now all i have to do is to convince my wife to not beat herself up. we really do not care if the child is baptised under another christian faith, as long as he is baptised. after all there is only one god.. navyjack
Hello All,
Quick stop on the way to bed.
Jim Thanks for the link.

Navyjack, Mrs and I are Catholic as well. That's a tough call. My daughter had a dispute with the new parish priest six years ago when she went to get married. now she and the grandkids are Lutheran. Can't say I like it but I'm glad she still has God in her life, goes to church and takes the grandkids as well.
Good night all

Just bought new batteries for the cameral. I had real good success with XtraPowerPro batteries and recommend them over the bunny brand.
If you thought LHS are on the decline, without developing, camera stores are heading down the tube.
Busy weekend of baby sitting ahead.
Good Evening
We had a beautiful sunny 82 today, ah felt good.
I just finished the last OGR and found the new CTT in the mailbox today. Back to to the starting line. Grilled burgers for supper and banilla waiting for the thingy crew. So off we go to somewhere...S.J.
FIFEDOG ..... my front yard right near the house has a huge maple tree ... wife refuses to let me cut it down ... of course she's not the one on the ladder cleaning the gutters ....
Went back over and started chatting with my buddies on the gun forum again .... man I missed those guys ... nice part was they missed the devil out of me too !

Fife,
I have found something worse (never thought that was possible) than grits. Carnation Malted Milk Powder looks and clumps like pine sawdust and tastes like Grape Nuts without the gravel crunch. Any updates on 88? Haven't seen him around here lately.
I should post pics of the layout showing the difference after lowering the second level. It looks better, but I keep thinking that even lower would be better. I might play more Jet Moto and Twisted Metal 2 tonight. They are so much better than newer games IMHO.
