Good Evening Everyone,
After a hiatus it is good to be back. I finally have time to rad and post.
Navy Jack, Ray, This is funny, I was Catholic and now I am Lutheran. My wife is Lutheran and we were married in a Lutheran Church. Before I became aLutheran, I was to be the Godfather to my niece 25 years ago and I went to the Catholic Church that my family attended, (My 81yr old Mom still attends). Prior to me moving, I used to plow their parking lot for a number of years for free. I went to see the Pastor to have the forms filled out. It was a priest that I spoke to and he told me that he has no records of me because I don't have an envelope number. I explained to him that I was the guy who plowed the snow for years for free. He was adament about not having an envelope number. I then asked him how much an envelope number costs and before he could say a word I told him what he could do with it in plain English. I then became a Lutheran.

Good job with the PGR! I can't even begin to tell you how these last 5 years with the PGR has affected my life.

So many roads, so little time.
hello ray. i was lutheran and became catholic. i guess i just had a bad pastor. he liked all the girls and told the boys in confirmation class that we were all going to hell. later when i was overseas and due to go to a dangerous area, he sent me a letter, excommunicating me from the lutheran church for not attending church, this was when my church knew i was overseas. my navy chaplain was catholic, and the rest is history. my pastor scared the hell out of me and i did not want to die as an excommunicated person. hope i dont offend anyone by telling this, but it is the truth. as it is i probably would have been better off to take a bullet, than this slow death i have now. you guys dont have any idea how depressing it is to be in bed and not be able to walk, day after day. sorry for my ranting. navyjack
Aloha all. Welcome Tim. . A beautiful day here, marred only by my having to work with my teen on schoolwork. My youngest is still ill so no soccer today. (Sorry Mike ) I bought a nook yesterday. Barnes and Nobles idea of an e-reader like Amazon's Kindle. It's kind of weird to read e-books, but I can get a whole lot of old transportation stuff and ancient but fun novels for free. Great seeing Kurt and Sir J with Charlie. Hope to run trains tomorrow night when the bride goes out with her GFs.

TimboyLawsonFarmsRR: I amend my blog all the time. I post to it very frequently - maybe not always daily, but as inspiration strikes me. Why should today be any different. -Timboy
This time you amended your blog by simply substituting American Flyer for O Gauge. Anyone left for you to offend? Haven't yet figured you out, and don't know where you stand in this thread. Our illustrious Pot leader once said Ignore, Ignore, Ignore. For me this applies to you.

Timboy, forgot to welcome you so here Thanks for the video of your nice Flyer layout. Hope you and Lawson Farms are'nt mad at each other. Sometimes kidding looks like fur flying from a distance.
Dennis, it's funny that my experience was just the opposite of yours. I was a Baptist that became Catholic.
Went to TCA Western Train meet today. Not too many attended. I think a lot of people got the date wrong because it was changed. Did not see friends I had hoped to meet either. Whole thing was a bummer.
Went to birthday party last night for two friends from church. O D'd on cheescake and other goodies. Good time had by all.
Have a good week end,
Ray

SATURDAY!
Was up before dawn for the Honor Flight Escort and a Welcome Home with the PGR today, very emotional and uplifting. Hope to do another mission soon!
Harley ran well, and didn't break and that, my friends, is a PLUS!!
Up to 89 today and oppressive humidity, slept poorly so I'm a wee bit tired. Sounds like an early bed time tonight.
Cleaned up the Marx 666, runs like a champ!
Welcome, Tim!!
Honestly, unless someone is personally attacking me, I could care less what some ones opinion is (unless it's against the USA., then we'll fight). I don't care what blog says what against whom or whatever...when we were kids, we'd look down on those with Flyer or Marx. We had Lionel and that was the best. Opinions are like butts, every one has one and I wouldn't really worry about it.

dbaker48Ray, Not sure whether you were joking or not, the "Star Rating" is the ones on the listing of threads
Don, my comment was with tongue firmly planted in cheek. I still don't quite understand the star deal unless you are talking about the star listed as favorites. I don' t know what the stars are for unless they are just counting post. I have a pretty good feel now for most folks on the forum and don't need a rating system to tell me who's who. Forgive me if I am off base.

Follow up - You amended your blog TODAY to save face. Not very clever.
TimboyLawsonFarmsRR: YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH! Truth is, I hate American Flyer trains as well. I get so frustrated with my American Flyer trains that I sometimes want to smash them into the basement wall. I've tried everything I can think of to make them better. I've cut off the claw-like couplers and mounted scale couplers. I've repainted them to PARR road names and gotten rid of the dorky "American Flyer Lines" logos. I've ripped their guts out and installed DCC. I've torn up the toy track and replaced it with PARR scale rail flex track. Then I've torn that up and re-installed track that I made with vintage rails and small ties. Then I've torn that up... Nothing works! I hate my American Flyer toy train layout. I think it looks dirty and clumsily built. It looks like the All-Thumbs Train Guy built it. I want to tear it down and build it again. Yet I go on. -Timboy
Timboy - Do you mean I can't handle the truth of you calling all of us O gauge enthusiasts "Idiots", "Dorky" and "Stupid"? I can handle it, but I deeply resent it.
Brent, its a shame that the system in this country is that messed up.Does not sound they are looking out for the kids.Good luck to you and your family.
lionroar88Pat - Susan and I have been going through 2+ years of fertility treatments and as Dennis sayd, the US courts give far too much leway to birth parents. I know of at least 8 couples who have adopted children in the US and after a few months a knock at the door being told they are losing their child because a birth parent changed their mind. They now are out 10s of thousands of dollars as well as having just had their child ripped from them. Neither Susan nor I wanted to take that chance. Also, here in the US you do not get to choose what child you adopt, the birth mother choses who adopts their child. Also, in many cases, here in the US you are REQUIRED to send pictures of your child to the adoption agency (who may or may bot share them with the birth parents) or directly to the birth parents on a regular basis. Furthermore, many birth parents chose to remain a part of the child's life... now think about that and tell me what parent would want to be tied down to that extent? The US Media doesn't tell you how intrusive the US Courts are when it comes to US adoptions. They make it seem that most are Closed Adoptions, when in fact most are Open Adoptions, and the adoptive parents have little to now say in whether it is Open or Closed.

Brent, thank you for your response. I asked the question because I truly didn't know the answer. Our experience is with our daughter's adoptions 19 and 21 years ago, and were closed adoptions. How times have changed. You make valid points and I understand why now.
SJ and Kurt stopped over for a little train time today. We had fun and watched a few trains too!

one reason that i really like the pot is because everyone has been considerate of others feelings except for some good natured teasing. we are all after all model railroaders, and the companionship, we have here is not replaceable. it makes me sad to see some of the greatest guys i know feeling bad. we are here to help each other and that is the way it has been since i have known you guys. we all know something and not one of us knows it all. we (especially me) can always learn from someone else. i respect everyone until they do not respect me, and when that happens goodbye. all newcomers should know, when we are made to feel bad, we all feel bad. call it empathy. navyjack
ChiefEaglesWait a minute. Now I can cut you all down and its OK. The guy is making jokes and trying to be a part of "us". Now I can partially understand as he is new and you do not know him as well as others here. Lets settle down and all be buddies. I invited him to make jokes and not have to put "this is a joke". I'm glad we have a new person drinking coffee with us. Bet a month from now you all will be joking and never think otherwise.

Oh no, he is not making jokes. He is camouflaging his true feelings as jokes on the Pot. Read his blog. Comments like "I think the guys who like O gauge trains know that they are idiots.", "Admit that your O gauge trains are dorky and that you are stupid and just have fun with them." and others, in my opinion, are hurtful and without justification to me as an O gauge enthusiast.
TimboyOle Timer: Don't confuse rant with rage. I have no rage against anyone; but I LOVE to rant! My ranting is off-List. -Timboy Zen Master.
Here is a hint. Usually if we rant we follow with this.
Maybe that will help. I've been flustrated with MTH more than any other company. I've posted Mikes Trash House for MTH. I think most of the guys knew I really didn't mean it.
So now that is said we can be happy. No fighting or we will get a visit from "you know who". Then we all get our panties in a crack.

Before feelings get hurt and good people shy away from here, some settling down needs to happen. Timboy, welcome to the 'Pot'. A good number of folks here enjoy O-gauge trains and several do some great things with S gauge/Flyer. I know that the rivalry has gone on for longer than many here have been alive. However, in the not too distant past, some real struggles have transpired between different factions (ie: Lionel vs. MTH to name one). Even if someone is just kidding, we need to be mindful of differing opinions and not become inflammatory. It is a great place to come and visit, let's keep it so.
God Bless,
dennis

My first train was an American Flyer and I still have fond memories of it .... in fact if I could remember which engine it was I'd buy another today .... but I was only 8 years old then. I never rant insults about any other person's choice and never will .... anywhere ! Yea chief we kid each other but we DO NOT use that terminology and hope the pot never lowers itself into doing so . Just my opinion .. but I hope things stay civil and friendly as they have been . Of course if you and timboy want to say such things to each other ... fine with me .... just let me out of them . I took that " minute " and responded ....
