Aloha all and thank youBow for your good wishes from the Yankee Geezer who feels ancient at 47...  I took today 'off' (as much as I can tethered to electronics as I am these days) and since it is gorgeously sunny, I hope to trek out to Union to visit the Illinois Railway Museum, even though nothing is running and most of the buildings are closed. (It is free.). Nice though too brief chat with the gang last night (Charlie, Sir J, Brutus, Ole Timer and RT). Thanks to Sir J for helping me out wiring the 151 semaphore, I'm 'shocked' at how badly I screw up simple wiring...

Just proves your now a Geezer Happy Birthday again Geezer

DougM.....Happy B-Day

I checked my "CHIEF'S GUIDE TO PROPER SUTH'N VOCABULARY" and am pleased to announce that with this Birthday you officially qualify for the title of "YANK GEEZER."  This title is bestowed upon those who are not yet age-qualified to be called a Geezer but have met all of the other qualification standards necessary to earn the title.......such as celebrating your birthday without any over-the-top imbibbing in the presence of California pole dancers.  Have a good one!  46 is it?  Big Smile

Good morning all,

May be dry in SE Indiana today.  Mowed the yard last night.  We have lots of Legos and I collect the home sets as well.  Track opens for practice tomorrow.  We will see how the new schedule works out.  Happy birthday, Doug M.!!!!  I had the regular fare on the dining car for breakfast before sending it on to "Points East".  TBIL any time.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Rainy and about 70 today.  That's OK, it is better for the gas milage - boost and wet pavement are not a good combination.

Watched Avitar on DVD tonight.  OK movie.  Must have been something in 3d on the big screen.

Happy birthday, Doug.

Rearranged my office today, so I'm at a 'standard' arrangement to match everybody else.  I don't like it, 'cause it really does not work well for me - but that dosen't matter, it's all about appearance.  The things done in Corporate America are hilarious, as long as you are in the right frame of mind.

All for now.

Evenin' All.

Hey Mr. Murphy Happy B-Day .

Wheww, a skunk just wandered by and my eyes are watering. This thing must be at least 100 yrs old as bad it smells. Sad

Saw where Hobby Lobby is have a pretty good sale on train stuff, not so much the trains themselves but some track and scenicing supplies. Supposedly reducing trains and increasing R/C cars/planes .

Aloha and a good evening to you all. Thunderstorms all night - a lightwell leaked necessitating a bit of a basement clean-up. Just cut out the affected carpet and hung it out today to dry - had to dry out some of the daughter's stuff. Nothing too bad. Then drove a buddy to his first day on the job clear across the suburbs. Saw lots of flooding. Lunch with our pastor - watched a few train videos with the youngest and here I am. (a little work in there too). Now I'm making him dinner after soccer practice- everyone else is out. Boy, do we have lots of Lego: 3 gigantic bins. Buried in there are more than a few expensive arrangements - Harry Potter villages, lots of Stars Wars crafts. Personally, I prefer the more 'free-form' Legos. Expensive.  Maybe run trains tonight whilst putting the basement together.

  • Harold, my son is looking at a Star Wars Deathstar in Lego....$500.00.  We may spring for a Taj Mahal for $200.  He actually has managed to keep a number of the kits together.

My son and daughters would love to have that set but 500$ is way to rich for my blood. It is very cool though.

Afternoon all

I’ve been reading but not posting much as I have been real busy, between my paying job, my non-paying job and the kids.  Not much new on the train front.  My bride asked me to hold off as I booked a flight to Idaho  as part of a retreat this year with Wilderness Outreach in August.

8ntruck – The whistle of the turbo is addicting as I love to hear the 6.5 diesel in my truck!  But as the boost goes up, the fuel mileage goes down!

Bigdoggie – amazing how fast our plans can change

Need to go check on the kids

May God bless

Jim

Banks,

Lionel used to sell those lamps in sets of three, so that is one source that you could get a cover from.  Be sure to keep fluid in the unit when it is being used, and never stick anything down into the smoke unit.  I learned those two from experience.

I finished lower the second level on the layout last night, and it looks much better.  I need to pull the 799 Talking Station apart to clean and polish the cams before putting it back as well.

Good afternoon everyone.  Bit tired as I got called in at midnight and did a all nighter till 0730.  Then, we have another emergency, but thankfully, one of the other guys is handling it.  Enjoyed the BTB-28.  I have the coal tipple mentioned, but that modular system for benchwork may be the ticket for another portion of the train room when I begin phase 2.

8N, You are correct.  I have a low profile, smaller 21.5 HP tractor and I only let the kids ride on flat ground and at real slow speeds.  One of the issues about living in a very rural area is that we have our share of Ag accidents.  It is well stated that you must be VERY careful when allowing kids near such devices.

Well, time to take care of business.  Hope that each of you finds your blessings in this day.
Dennis

 Hello all,

Jim, thanks for the photo. It smokes??? I wonder if a replacement lamp cover is available? I'm a little disappointed it's not HO. Maybe I'll give it to my nephew for his Polar Express set. It wouldn't look right with Dad's Pre-war stuff.

Spent the last two evenings working on tractor since it's two wet for anything else. Rear wheel seal leaked and saturated brakes. Replacing other side seal just because.

Hope to get the last of the concrete in Dad's house this weekend.

Best get back to work.

Prayers for all that may need them
