Goooooood morning Coffee Pot! Glad someone put on a new pot, I need some caffiene today! Stayed up too late watching old McGyver shows with my wife. Nothing much on the agenda today except laundry and maybe finally get down to organize some stuff. Mother-in-law, Judy, is coming to visit again. She's been a great help.
PS - good work, John! To try and quote that hero of mechanical man, Montgomery Scott, never tell them what you are doing and also always estimate it will take twice as long as you thought it would if you want to be a "miracle worker" Just one more thing - every job requires a new tool!
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Aloha all from a grey Chicago where it is 35-ish and feels warmer since we're used it to being 20 degrees colder. LOL. Love those quotes, Brutus. Though I thought a new pot will be put on tomorrow. Going Into the city to see a play with the bride and some friends, The Long Red Road, at the Goodman Theater. Of course, the dog just threw up ...

danica mania....you know danica patrick is from around here(10 miles away) and she is really comercialized. everything has her face, and the tv ads have her in the go daddy commercial. she has found her cash cow. anyway the weather was around 35 and had a quiet day. will get new engine next week. (e-7) where is best place to buy barbaque in north carolina? i have a buddy who just moved there and he wants to know. anybody have a model nascar race on their layout? navyjack
Quick stop over before heading back to church. Most of our staff and a good number of our congregation are going to Gatlinburg, TN. for a conference to help pastor of others churches throughout the country. Got most of the painting done, but some parts have required more effort, so I am taking my time.
Will check in later to see SPF. Hope everyone has a blessed week ahead.God Bless,Dennis

I have been told Roseville is the place to get the best barbaque, Isn't that right Chief? Jack, this is tongue-in-cheek.
I have a small HO size NASCAR race track in the train room but separate from the train layout.
I once saw a DVD of a train layout that included a race track that was not a slot track. Must have been magnets or something.
Anyway, anyone remember it? I would like to include a race track in the layout that looked like a real track.

Brutus,
I learned a long time ago, NEVER TELL THEM IT IS THEIR FAULT. Remember that it is all in presentation, this works at home and on the job. A new tool, not this time, but the best one had to be about 22 years ago when she wanted the microware, with an exhaust fan, installed above the stove, venting out where the old exhaust fan exited. The kit that came with the fan exited vertical up. We had to go horizontal. The directions said to have one made at a sheet metal shop. At the time I was doing a lot of side work in my garage and I wanted to buy a new Millermatic 200 MIG welder. I told her in order to do the job I needed a new welder and that I could use it afterwards. She agreed, but I did not tell her the price, $1800 later the job was done. Believe me, my wife by no means is stupid, we just play the game. Good luck with your wife's recovery.
Sturgeon Phish: Use it whenever you can. When you have to buy a few things for home projects, add a couple of things to the cart for your own projects and like Brutus said, a new tool.
John
Navy Jack, Smithfield's Chicken and Bar-B-Que has locations all over North Carolina. You can find them on the web. Just google on Smithfields Chicken and Bar-B-Que. I got some from them by mail order sent to me in California. I thought it was excellent. There may be others but that is the main one I know about.

Just got done watching the hockey game. OH CANADA!!! They did beat us but what a game. At least a Pittsburgh Penguin won it for them. I figure they should have a rubber match because it is one win each, USA won last week and Canada won today so we are even. One more winner takes all? Like thats gonna happen.
Did do a Electric railroad upgrade on my Camalback, wow it just creeps real slow. Great engine now with the Command Cruise M upgrade. Very easy to do to.
Gonna watch the closing ceremonies tonite.
Spring is in the air here today. Sunny and in the 40's this morning, though it has clouded over since lunch.
Had a good trip to Michigan to visit mom. She looks good and is working well with the therapists on her knew knee. Probably won't get out of the rehab center for another two to three weeks.
Spanky - I lost my dad a little over a year ago. You will never know what will touch you as time goes on. On my drive back from Michigan, I was listening to the Prarrie Home Companion on PBS. This week was a live broadcast from the Fox theater in Detroit. Dad grew up in Detroit and spoke fondly several times about the organ in the Fox Theater. Sure enough, Garrison Keeler made sure to include a spot that featured the organ - choked me right up. Treasure those memories.
My GTW tender had arrived while I was away. A quick bath and into service behind the Marx 666 loco.
Have a bid going on e-bay for an automated milk car - actually, it is more of a kit 'cause it needs some work. If I win it, the price will be right. I'll know tomorrow.
All for now.

RT - You have a good memory. I found the NASCAR track on the LaRosa layout on page 21 of the CTT Dec. '09 issue. It is a slot car track. The track I remember had no slots. I am trying to find that to put on my layout.
Thanks for the Info.
Good evening
Temp reached 40 today, a good sign.
I ran some trains this morning but did little else. Oh some computer time just roaming around. Banilla is ready so come on by with the thingy.
Remember to wake the chief at midnight....S.J.
Back from the play. Great seats within spitting distance of the stage. Very intense drama. Recognized the playwright lurking in the lobby afterwards and was able to congratulate him. Beacon is lit, Brutus!
Pat, I have a 1/43rd remote control car that I believe is a chopped 47 Plymouth, but not sure...it has been in a box somewhere under the layout. I have plans to use it as a surprise for folks looking at the layout and suddenly have it drive down main street. Something like that could be used as a race car on a home made track.

Good evening all,
It was cloudy and a little warmer in SE Indiana with temps warm enough to melt some of the Snohio. Watched the hockey game. Watched the end of the NASCAR race. Fifey, I do not hate Danica, but I do resent how much attention she gets compared to some of the other drivers. Also, she has had much better equipment than people who I think could do much better than her, given equal circumstances. In any event, her brief run is done for now. We shall see how she does later on in the season. She would have been smarter to run more ARCA races where she was halfway competitive and get more experience running up front. Personally, I think Indycar is in big trouble with an almost total lack of American drivers. This goes back to 1970 when the dirt champ cars were split off from the regular series. When that happened, there was no longer a need for a driver to be competent in a front engined car in order to run the series. Oh, well. I had the regular fare on the dining car for breakfast. TBIL. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Hello all
A quick sip before bed,
The weather caused our Seafood buffet to be canceled on Friday. First time ever for that. Mainly because the prep crew was having trouble getting there. The roads were pretty good by evening.
I decided against going to the Kittanning Show this morning. The weather was so so and I reasoned the time would be better spent doing some things around the house I've been putting off. (Besides that I'll have a few extra bucks for the Altoona Show in two weeks)
March is here at last. At least the calendar says so, looks like mid January when you look out the window. Spring coming gives me mixed feelings. Winter is when I have the most time to tinker around in the house. On the other hand I need the snow to melt so I can get the manure out of the barn. It's getting way too full.
Time to head for bed.
Prayers for all who may need them

Evening all. Home from Charlotte BPS and my Sheriff's B'Day party [a money raiser as he has to run again]. WHY???? Because the local Dem Party got some idiot to run a gainst him. Yes, I know I am registered Democrat. Think about changing every day. You have great elected official and the "other" party [Dems and Republicans] has to find someone to run. All that does is give the news media $$$$ in advertising. Think, when asked my party, I am going say I belong the the AMERICAN party.
Gang, Chiefy is not doing to good. Got a cold but been coughing non stop since this AM. Took codeine and still not stopping it. Ribs hurt everytime I cough [almost non stop]. Will probably sleep in recliner so I can breath. I was driving home from B'Day event. Went into major coughing spell. Lucky I was at a stopsign. Almost blacked out. Not a good feeling [been there done that but in hospital]. You suddenly start jerking all over from lack of O2. Got home and my cough meds was not here. Accused wifey of getting high on my meds. Did not go over well [actually she knew I was joking]. Must have a bottle at the lake house as Dr. keeps me supplied. Started my meds she gives me for attacks. Will call her tomorrow AM and go see her for a full prescription. Then I take 5 tables out and hold for next attack. Probably getting close to the "pewmonia". Get it once a year anyway.
Will start new Coffee Pot as I hope I am "passed out" and sleeping at midnight. You all can keep this one going until midnight if your wish. BTW: thanks SJ for the reminder. Coughing and meds made me forget [I remembered as I drove home from Charlotte].
Sleep tight.
