Good morning - well, almost Noon here.  Slept in a little, but got up about 8:30.  Never got any breakfast, the dining car was sidetracked somewhere I guess?  Had 2 brats for lunch though, so it's all good.  I need to do some work on the trains today - have some that were put in tubs, but not really with "long term" in mind at that time.  I'll put some bubble wrap on them and make sure they are stored nicely.  Need to clean up the basment a little bit.  Once we are cleared by the doc, I have just a couple walls in the bathroom to finish with drywall and then taping and mudding.  Doc doesn't want a lot of extra dust in the house right now, though.

TTFN!

A Yankee Report:  Jack [Rockisland] was without power for 22 hours.  Big rains and snow melt has everything flooded in his area.  His home is OK.  Snohio was west and north of him.  He had high winds.  Right after power came on, he had to leave for a wake up in Maine.  Drove up.  Winds blew him bad on the drive.

Don, I can ship you this high $$$ inflatable vest.  This makes three I have.  Guess I could spare one.  BTW: the big wave is going to hit all of the Pacific islands.  Wonder if it will wash up on CA coast????

Store is almost dead for sales.  ?????  I hear all of them are not doing well today.  Back to work.

 Good afternoon

Cloudy and gloomy, feels damp. no new snow.

Spent most  of today with Charlie and his train friend running trains all by remote with no pile ups. I knew of this man but we had never met. He has a nice basement layout with trackwork done. the three of us will be traveling to York together. I hope every one is having a good day.....S.J.

Buckeye: My favorite is when you are in a congested city intersection, making a right turn in the truck, with the directional light on,and some clown in a "tuner car" tries to pass you on the right between the truck, curb and light pole with a police car right behind him and swears that you cut him off and that everybody else including the 3 people he almost hit on the sidewalk are liars.

John

John....I had something like that happen to me in the '70s, where a idiot hit me, spun around in the intersection two or three times as the pedestrians in the cross walk ran for their lives and then told the police the light was green.  Of course the 12-15 pedestrians, several security guards at a nearby hospital entrance and me were all liars.  I had the damaged car, but the pedestrians were the most upset.

Don.....For the educational benefit of us in Ohio, would you go to the beach and take some video of the tsunami hitting shore?  We have seen forest fires in Kentucky, earthquakes in NW Ohio and mud slides are common in SE Ohio, but a tsunami has never been recorded for Ohio in the last twenty five years.

Jon....After reating about fires, earthquakes and tsunami's in California and hurricanes in the South, Iowa and Ohio might really be the best place on the face of the earth.  Plus we don't have any of those snakes, gators and swamps.

Laz....Only fifty days to the Masters at Augusta.  Looks like the course needs a snowblower.

Pat...Isn't it a shame that fifedog scheduled the TCA gathering at the same time as the Rail Fest in WV this summer.  I'm not sure where everyone is going to stay for the festival.

I don't know what he was thinking. Have you noticed he hasn't commented on our lists of his "to-do" items for that weekend? In an attempt to get a comment out of him, here are a few more.

He says he has to:

Clip his yard with hand shears.

Inventory his free electrical tape supply.

Get a nose piercing to install a bull ring.

Clean out his cattle cars and fertilize his house plants with it.

Pick out his favorite Grits recipe.

For the festival, I can get this WV place real cheep.

Good evening all, TCA train meet was a total dud today.  Rainy weather kept a lot of people home.  Only about two or three sellers and they were the same ones that come to every meet with the same stuff we have seen for months.  I don't think they want to part with this stuff.  The prices never change.  I left the meeting a little early between rain showers.  Did not stay for door prizes or raffle drawing as I haven't bought a ticket yet.  One member set up a small layout and ran the Polar Express while music from the movie was playing in the background.  My sump pump at home has been working overtime this afternoon.  Heavy rain showers continue all day.  Open house by realtor for house next door tomorrow.  They should have a better day for it then.  Called an old train buddy in Missouri this afternoon.  He has joined a group collecting classic automobiles and another one collecting model autos and a few trains.  He says train collecting is not too big in his area.  Hawaii was spared any damage from the tsunami scare.  Nothing here either that I have heard of.  If the Southern California Coast had any problem, the whole city of L.A. would be under water before it got to me so I was'nt too worried.

Don, good thing you did not come to the TCA meet in Arcadia today.  You did not miss a thing.  My buddy who runs the trains on the carpet central over there did not show up either account family obligations.  I did hear that he has been able to recover some more of his stolen train collection but don't know how much.

Got that setting on this laptop [5 days] but not at home desktop.  Mainly because I get so many emails, TWC RR starts sending me nasty emails about filling up my server allotment and rejecting my emails.  Had that happen the other week when desktop was being refurbished.  Then I have to got to Web Mail and delete the deleted ones.  Usually I shut it down but left in a hurry.  She will not shut it down so she can read her emails.

Slow day at the store.  Sold chargers but not like yesterday.  Got a little bit of an ear ache and stuffy nose.  All that horrible dust in that dirty building.  Everything is covered in thick dust.  Cabela's has carpet and thus a little less dust and dirt.  Also better on feet and back.

Dinner time.  later.

It was a great day running trains with SJ and our friend from Grosse Ile.  We had some nice conversation and a great lunch.

I ran my new scale Polar Express cars.  SJ and I both thought the observation car had a spooky green cast to the interior.  Will be interesting to see what others think as more and more are delivered.

Evenin' All.

Had a good day at the museum yesterday, no pile-ups and lots of good converastions with the guests. Was running an 18 car string of 4-bay coal hoppers behind a Lionmaster D&H Challenger or a pair of D&H C-420's.

The munchkin spent the nite lastnight, went home a couple hours ago. So grampa is trying to gather up the energy to service/inspect yesterdays stuff and put them away.

The tsunami didn't amount to much here in Sandy Eggo, believe they said about a foot & a half thankfully. Even though people are warned to stay away from the low-lying beach areas the usual bunch of idiots were there, and I quote "we wanted to see it". The worst part is that they brought their kids with them, kinda reminds one of a quote from Forrest Gump: "Stupid is as Stupid does". Sigh

Patrick, Check on your herd, think they have been flying around here for most of the day. Oh well, maybe it will drown some of these dang gophers that have destroyed my yard as well as two brick sidewalks. Angry

Later All.

Howdy guys - nice chats with RT, SJ, Wes and Charlie tonight.

Prayers for all on the forum and our friends and families  Special prayers for the people in Chile.  I have a friend who is scheduled to go on a cruise to the Hawaiian islands - I think they were flying to LA Monday, then getting on the ship there?  I wonder what will happen now?

Fife - Laugh

My 520 came in the mail today and now, thanks to SJ, I know where to oil it.  It runs pretty good, but lots of sparks.  I'll clean the wheels and contacts and lube it tomorrow.  It sure is loud, like the burro crane!  Neat little engine.  I wonder if I got a beat up one with a broken shell if I could use the rest of one of these to make a Toby for Thomas to run with?  It's probably about the right size....  Looked at Hobby Lobby for some brass, but they only had a sheet of copper in stock.

Picked up the Vampire's Apprentice on bluray and some popcorn buckets that pop up in the microwave - some fun family time after dinner Thumbs Up  It was a decent movie, but not sure there will be a sequel and it's obviously meant to be a series.  Apparently there are like 12 books so far or something.  Kids loved it, but I'll give it a B+.  I've seen a lot of the movies they were using as source material, lol!

Tardis is ready and banilla sounds good too!  Let's hit it!

Good evening everyone.  Wife is home and now she and the kids are asleep.  Been painting most of the day.  Still have some to do.  Just taking a little break.  Looks like a lot of folks posting lately... which is good.  Chief, I have several different email accounts, and I get over 400 per day.  Most is junk, but some are good.  When I have been out of touch for awhile, it can really stack up and I can only make quick scans and delete a bunch.

Well, had better get back to painting.  Will not finish tonight, but have to make some more headway.  Got early church tomorrow, so I do need to get some sleep in.  Hope everyone is doing well.

God Bless,
Dennis

We closed up due to high winds a few hours ago. The moisture is headed for us. Glad to hear Hawaii and the west coast were not much affected by the tsunami. Probably be snowing again is a few hours. Got to catch some of the olympic coverage tonight. Saw the Night Train and Team USA take the gold medal in bobsled for the first time in 62 years.

Fife - I thought the same thing at first about Brutus' comment about eating brats

Dennis - hope the painting project went well and you are able to get it all out of your hair before church tomorrow.

Will probably reassemble the 2025 tonight. Should have a smoke unit waiting for me when I get home on Wednesday to finish it off.

Morning all.  Did not sleep well.  Found a cold somewhere around here.  Nose ran all night and had sore throat.  Shave and shower after a cup of "room" coffee.  Then a little breakfast.  Store does not open until 10.  Head home middle of afternoon for Sheriff's B'day party.  Have a good one.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a cloudy 30 degrees. A little snow overnight. Going up to 36 today with snow flurries.

Today is an easy day. Usual chores to do. Nascar race later. I may watch it from the train  room. I finished the track cleaning, yesterday. It really needed it.

Dining car has arrived and it's the usual for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Sunday.

Mornin' boys.  Grey and 37 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Looks like another round of SNOHIZO mid-week.  Bring it on.

We're givng the kitchen a little nip/tuck this weekend, so I'll be on the business end of a paintbrush today.

cheapclassics - Why are you hatin' on the Go Daddy Gal...?  If/when the open-wheel gets their house in order, the racing will get better, and the marque drivers will stick around.  Danica-mania has been overkill, I agree, but so has NASCAR on raceday.  They simply give so much gobble-dee-goop before the green flag...every week.  I liked it better when they did all the human interest stuff during the race, with pix-in-pix.  Love my DVR.

Good Morning:  31 and cloudy, chance of snow showers. I turned out to be the hero with my wife yesterday. Later in the day she told me that she did not want to bother me when I first got home, but when she went to work at the store if I could take a look at the dishwasher. She thinks that it has a bad pump because it doesn't fill up with water. ( The dishwasher is 23 yrs old & a kitchen remodel is in the near future) When she was getting ready to leave, I got a good "assortment of tools out." I had a feeling and my hunch was right, but I waited for her to leave. When I installed it, I used a 1/4 turn valve for a shut off. She was making her fancy soaps when I was gone using the stove to melt the soap and the kitchen counter for a work space. She put the dish drain under the sink and it caught the valve handle. So instad of telling her that it was "her fault" and that it was a simple fix, 1. rule at work is don't make it seem too easy or they may think of outsourcing your job or hold back raise money, I told her that when "I" installed the new kitchen faucet just before the storm, it made an air pocket in the hot water line going to the dishwasher. She was happy and told me that she was glad that it was something that she didn't do and we don't have to buy a new dishwasher just to be replaced next year when we remodel.

Everyone have a great day.

Good Morning

32  and still gloomy

My thoughts on the race drivers is if the males were as cute as the female they would get equal press time. Of course then we would wonder why the males were cute..lol

I have no plans for the day at this point so I'll check and see what granny wants to do.

Have a great sunday and tomorrow is MARCH FIRST at last. we can make it from here.

Ole Timer - I agree. Have stayed in cabins like this at several Virginia State mountain camp grounds. Fifey wouldn't like it -- you know how he hates WV.Whistling

DougDG - No charge for the manure dropping from the sky.

Fifedog - Cabin for sale, $298.00.

I do hope your gun belt is worn for  front draw, not side draw.Wink

Danica-mania should be over for a few months. To much coverage for a driver that has only one finish in three races, and that was 31st three laps down.

Buckeye - Dancing Bear Lodge is to fancy for this bunch (except for you, me and Ole Timer!). Big Smile

Pat,

We have been married going on 28 yrs. We have had our share of hardships, but we have always pulled through. We have never let the little things bother us. Eventhough I have always had 2 jobs and she always had something going before buying the store with her sister, we always made time for the kids and family. Now that we are over the hump, she is encouraging me to build that dream layout, do more fishing and update the boats and when I retire, fully restore the 65 Mustang and the 56 Chevy. I know that I have a keeper. With her birthday coming March 5, the problem is what to get her. I guess that she won't want a 665 Hudson.
