Brutal wind here today .... brrrrr .... i't's so strong it'll blow the taste right out of your mouth . Gusting at times over 50 mph. and believe me it's NOT balmy . Great night on the tardis / chat with RT - Brutus - SJ - and Charlie last night .... until wife came in the room and reminded me I promised to spend her night off with her .  I think that's when the cold winds started blowing ... LOL . Hateing winter has just turned to detesting it !

Did someone say " Seafood Buffet "  ..... wow wish it was closer to me ... Dinner

Laz just think of those poor guys who did that EVERY DAY  over and over in the 130 degrees .... no air conditioned buildings or cars to jump in to cool off and no coolers with ice to keep drinks cold ... Disapprove  tough ole guys to say the least ... huh ?

Good Morning

Cold wind and 20s today, its blowing lite snow every where.

I'm not worried about the Tardis defects  if the feds ask questions we can just say there's nothing wrong but we are working to correct it. Hmm do I cut the red wire or the blue one.

Have a great day...S.J.

 Good Morning !

Talked with the Chief, sounds like he is planning a sneak attack around the western front, or atleast possible insurgent into Ioway.  Is reinforcing the Charlotte Area.  (noticed his 'HOT" referrence.)

We are poised and waiting for more rain, noticed the evacuation orders are now being placed, all our drains cleared and ready.  Good news is may have a day off tomorrow.

Also read that Lionel is discontinuing the TMCC Cab-1 control.  Hate to see that happen!  Nice simple remote, ideal for visitor use, etc..  Maybe they will come out with a simple version replacement.

Hope everyone has a great day !

Ole Timer

there comes those yankees !       Open Fire Chief !

OT, you did good posting that cannon.  Seems it shut down all of the NE US airports and gave them a blizzard. Thumbs Up  Wonder if Jack has found his snow shovel? Whistling  OT, now turn it a little more NW.  We want to hit Buckeye, Wes and Toots [Chuck].  I think LAZ and John F have had enough for this year.  Sure glad I'm not working the Harrisburg event.  Hope Fifey does not have to work during this mess.  Seems folks like to slide into Cops when they are standing out of their vehicles during snow.  Back to the store.  Took a little lunch break.  Ammo sure is "scarce".  Stocked up on Remington and Winchester .243 ammo.  They did not have Hornady in .243.  Manager said they just got a load of ammo but you couldn't tell it.  Mostly empty shelving.  Got some more .22 Mag with V max tips.  They have plenty of .22 and .222 ammo.  Already sold some chargers.  sunny and warmer but got a wind that makes you get inside in a hurry.  Later

Good evening everyone.  Banks, thanks for the suggestion.  I have been treating my hands with Bag Balm.  I have used it for many years.  Problem comes at work as can't use it during day with all the scrubbing I do.  I do rub it into my hands at night, but the lack of humidity and all really takes its toll.

This afternoon, we went to Home Depot with the family.  We (read that I) will be painting the den, kitchen, and hitting the rest of the honey do list.  The den will be the hardest part as that is where the mounts are as well as a large Oak gun cabinet and some other heavy furniture.  We also have some built in bookshelves that look great, but require a lot of cutting in for the paint.

Chief, Hope you sell lots of chargers and have a good time there.  Regarding ammo, I have heard that about the shelves being bare.  I have not reloaded in a long time, but have about 10,000 primers and plenty of projectiles/brass, and powder.  I may have to break out the RCBS system soon.

For all those in the path of the snow storms...stay safe.

God Bless,

Dennis

Hi Guys...Chilly and blowing here...but we have been far better off then those to the east. Been a doozey of a winter for most.

Picked up my scale Polar Express cars tonight from the hobby store.  Tomorrow I will get a chance to see how they look.

I'll be picking SJ up in the morning for a run down to visit with a friend in preparation for our trip together down to York.  Of course we'll be running some trains too :)

Hope everyone stays safe and warm!

Chief / Ole Timer:

How much is my wife paying you to shoot that snow cannon at NJ? I work for an electric and gas company and when it snows we work mega hours. I just got released a few hours age and I hope to take it easy tomorrow. Fife isn't the only one who has to worry about the public out there running into him when on the side of the road. We get our share including police cars, ambulances and fire engines running into us.

My thoughts and prayers to everyone, John

Just "blew" $900 on ammo and such.  Did buy a $200 self inflating life vest.  Does that tell you how much. Shock  Think she said she wanted a few diamonds with all your OT. Whistling

Back to the room from the store.  Stayed late.  I am number 1 in the nation in charger sales.  Also ice cubes to Eskimos. Laugh

Now for dinner.  Yes, nothing to eat or drink since lunch.  Stopped at Zaxbys.  Never eaten there before.  Across the street from hotel and get 20% discount with showing room key card.  Really never had cared to eat at on before now.  Got a fried chicken house salad with honey mustard.  Now prop up feet and watch TV.  Maybe some popcorn and then sleep.

HI GUYZ,

Did some work on the layout today on the count of the snowa cane.  All is done now with SNO HI O.  We are suppose to get more next week?  I hope not.

CHIEF, keep stocking up on the ammo.  I do every time I go to BPS or Cabela's.  I wish I did it 10 years ago.  Then I would have to pay double now.Sigh

ALLENTOWN TRAIN SHOW tomorrow, hope to make a few little scores?

Another quiet night of observing here at the 'scope. We will probably be closed for weather for a good part of the weekend. I think the Confederate snow cannon must be a 9" Brooke's rifle. Darned effective weapon...

I went thru the CO detectors this shift as I found one that was disconnected due to the chirping sound made due to a low battery. When checking the rest I found one still on the wall w/ no battery due to a malfunction indicator. Going to mention this in the log w/ something like "recent studies have found that carbon monoxide detectors w/ disconnected batteries or that have malfunctioned do not detect carbon monoxide". I going to order one that Ace sells that also has a combustible gas detector. We have a number of old pulse furnaces running on propane that work good but are getting up there.

Missing my train magazines and Live Steam this week. I forgot one of my briefcases at home. But at least I have the 2025 and 258 to work on.

Bob - love annotations like that, got an email of airplane repair log quotes with stuff like Pilot: Something sounds funny in the control panel.  Repair:  Told something to be serious.  Laugh  I know I'm not remembering it correctly, but something like that!

Thanks for prayers and intentions, our family and my wife in particular are doing well.  I pray for all of us here on the board and our families and friends.

No snow in St. Louis - up in the 40s during the days, but cold at night.  Things are heading in the right direction, though!

Received my 1/43 Mach Five Speed Racer car from Ebay, should look nice on the layout - thanks to Paul on the SPF!

Tardis is ready now and need to get going.  Don't mind modifications, we're all old hands here!  Just have to watch for power drops Laugh

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Brutus I've seen those as well. My favorites:

Engine #4 missing. Response: Engine #4 found on right wing after brief search.

Dead bugs on windshield. Response: Live bugs on order.

Got the 2025 motor greased and up running on the test track. E-unit was a little sticky at first but contact cleaner solved that. Love seeing another one come back to life.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a cold 28 degrees. We got another 4 inches of snow last night. Going up to 34 today with cloudy skies.

Today is a busy day. I have a few chores to do and then I will watch the Nascar race and run trains. That is a good day. Didn't make it to PT yesterday. Weather was too bad. Need to do some exercises at home.

Dining car has arrived and the usual is for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Saturday.

Mornin' boys.  28 with an occasional flurry here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Looks like Jack is gettin' the worst of it.  Big mamma-jamma storm.

As I said yesterday, hope Jack finds his snow shovel.

Slept late.  Got to get shave and shower.  Breakfast is free here so will grab a bite and go to the store.  Will be a long day.  If this store is like it ususally is, will be busy all day until evening.  That will help time move faster.  Love it when I stay busy.  Sunny and 32 degrees.  Warming to low 50's.

Good Morning, 28, cloudy with snow showers. Looks like the worst is over.

Fifedog: We have a good working relationship with our Local, County and State Police. When I first started in 1972, I was being sent out on a road call to a town in Union County. The supervisor came to the truck with a case of electrical tape and told me that when I am stopped, give the officer the tape. I just crossed the town line and out of all the trucks out there he stopped mine, I handed him the tape, he thanked me and I was on my way. A little while later when I reached the disabled truck, (a flat tire), the same officer pulled up behind me and diverted traffic away from me. As the saying goes,"One hand washes the other and they both wash the face". Did you ever notice that the public always talks negative about us until they need us? Be careful out there. You have an important and dangerous job to perform. The main thing is that we both know where all the good places to eat are.

Navyjack, not sure what brought this quote, but I too have the utmost respect for Oliver North.  He came and spoke at our church a few years ago.  He certainly will inspire you.  I got to talk with him for a few moments and he is very personable.  I can see how marines were able to follow him into battle.

I am home playing with the kids while the bride is earning a living.  Got my reading to do and then to tackle the honey dos.  No trains for today....HD list is too long.  Got to sleep till 0730 so I guess it is a good start to the day.

Chief, glad you were able to score a load of ammo.  I am going to send you an email.  Hope you have a good day of sales and a safe return home.

Chuck.....Your election to SNOWOHIO PERSON OF THE YEAR is back on track. (Pardon the pun.)  Buckeyeland, due to your constant firing of the SNOWOHIO GUN received, due to recoil, a record amount of snow for February.

Baby Buckeye is coming over today to work on scenery with me.  It will be fun.  She wants to build a PE layout, so I might send her to Baltimore to see the fifedog's layout.

Chief......Why don't you travel to Ohio to test that new inflatable life jacket?  We can go to Lake Erie, cut a hole in the ice and you can jump in.  We would then start the clock and record for the advancement of science how long the jacket holds your head above water.  Of course, I assume the jacket would be good for a least four hours, so instead of us just sitting there watching you in the water, Chuck, Wes and I could go to shore for some cold beverages, wings, rings, TV, etc.

fifedog......For a construction worker, the red and blue lights are our best friend.  You can't write enough tickets in a construction zone where there is active work.  It isn't the interstates that are the scariest, it is the local roads with the local drunks during the day.  They know better than to get on an interstate.  BTW, those people caring mattresses on top of the car with a kid being used to hold it down, arrest them too. (If one goes out and sits at an intersection for three or four hours watching traffic, which is required for most traffic engineers, you will leave wondering why there are not more killed. My favorite is the right hand turn from the left hand turn lane in front of traffic after the green.)

Mmmm....Pop off blocker on and no smiley faces.

Looking forward to the U.S.A. vs Canada hockey game.

Buckeye: My favorite is when you are in a congested city intersection, making a right turn in the truck, with the directional light on,and some clown in a "tuner car" tries to pass you on the right between the truck, curb and light pole with a police car right behind him and swears that you cut him off and that everybody else including the 3 people he almost hit on the sidewalk are liars.

Good morning all,

It is a cloudy day in SE Indiana with a new dusting of Snohio on the ground.  We Hoosiers scoff at such stuff, and get ready to reload the Snohio cannon for another round. Watched some of the Olympics last night.  Too bad about Ohno being DQ'd in the one race.  Hope the Americans do well in the bobsled and win the overall medal count.  The Princess makes her last NASCAR run for a while.  Wonder how they will promote the races after today?   Had bran muffins on the dining car this morning for breakfast before sending it on to "Points East".  TBIL any time today.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Thought would report in.  The weather alerts and warnings are superceding each other.  First one comes on with eminent flooding in the area, so prepare to evacuate if you live in low lying areas in the burn areas, then that is interupted with a weather alert of ensuing Tsunami wave approaching.  Fella just doesn't know what to do.

I think you all better get ready for another storm from the west coast, this one is a pretty good one too, lots of rain and its followed up with a cold front.  (subBob take note)  However, I don't think you will be affected by the Tsunami, we will take care of that one.

In the meantime I think I will spend the day in the train room.  Going to make a major modification to the mainline tracks.

Good morning all, eggs, grits and ham for breakfast.  Lots of rain showers early this morning before daylight.  Pumped out all the places around the place that accumulate water.  Now its off to the TCA Western Division Train meet today in Arcadia.   Hope there is something I can use there.  Also hope to see RAK who runs the DCS demonstration layout and see how he is making out since he had some trains stolen last month.  I know he recovered some of them.

Will report back here later,
