Evening all
Condolances Ray on your loss. May God give you strength through this time of grieving.
Good nigh and may God bless all of your needs

dwiemer Temps dropped steadily after noon. Got a little rain, but that was all. Supposed to get into the 20s which I would rather have it do now as I have all the PVC and supplies to fix the well, but want to wait till the temps stay above freezing so I only do this one time.

Dennis, If the is a power source by the well head a good old 100W lightbulb(not a CFL) and a blanket or two will solve the problem. Or you could do like we did up in the Colo mountains, just crack a faucet in the house with just a trickle of water running. Only enuff to keep it from being still allowing it to freeze.
Brutus, What transformer, the Hogwarts tender don't like TPC's.
Ray, There is only 1 way to have a pulled pork sandwich, SLAW on top not on the side !!!!
Jack, If you test the AWD in the snow don't do the "Here hold my beer, I;m gonna try something !" stunt. If you do at least video the stunt for youtube.
I was starting to get over the crud earlier in the week, but the better half has it really bad rite now and it feels as if it is coming back for another round with me.
FYI, Looked thru some of the TRAINZ site tonite, they have some of the MTH lited billboards on sale. I ordered two of the M&M's, one for the layout unchanged and one will be changed to "Welcome to Keltonville". The grandson's name is Kelton.
DJ, Deepest heartfelt sympathies, went thru it and it is not easy to get thru it. Seems like you feel as though the grieving is over and lo-n-behold you'll come across something that will trigger some happy memories and at times it will trigger sadness. Hold your mom close and spend all the free time you can with the wife and Tyler.
Later All.

dwiemer Buckeye, Did you ever hear "He just needed shootin'" as a valid excuse for killin'? That is often used around these parts, so I would caution against the Sherman thing! Just trying to keep you healthy. Dennis, why do you think I got that new .243. Reach out and "touch" them. [That is a pretty thing. Beautiful grained piece of wood with Monte Carlo stock, flutted barrel and big Leupold scope.] Chief, sent you a message. Not sure if you can use it, but then again, can you ever have too much? I know, just ask my wife! Thanks, I took action. Dennis

Yankeeo Yankeeo, where is the snow? Was suppose to hit around 7. Nothing but some light mist and temps above freezing.
Up early tomorrow for early meeting [7:30 AM to 10 AM]. Then off to Bass Pro Shops for the weekend.
Sleep tight.

Good Evnin', Ya'll, from Rainy Taxachusetts,
Spanky.....my sincere condolences to you and your family on the loss of your Dad. My prayers that you find peace and solace in the memories of him. I think of my folks every time I fire up my trains, a gift from them that has stood the test of time. Hold your Mom close, she needs you like never before.
Brutus.....so Char is "terrorizing the children." Bet that makes them happy, her too.
Dodged yet another snow bullet today. Rain here and 43 now with significant snow melt. Storm pulling out tonight to be replaced by another tomorrow. Hope flooding does not become an issue.
Wifey called earlier tonight from CA., angry with Ray, DougDG, and Don for not providing more hospitable weather.....rain there too. Wants to see the pole dancer first hand and find out what all the fuss is about.
Buckeye and Chuck....need defensive reinforcements here if Chief follows through on his plan for a train ride to Maine with wife Pam.
OleTimer....you have to practice your innuendo and double entendre so the CTT moderators can't figure out what to do with you. Or you could just present the insanity defense.
Jon...... -3? Sounds like the Ioway temperatures are moving in the wrong direction.
Banks....don't eat the yellow snow. The dirty stuff is ok, tastes like watered down grits.
Chuck....when I suggested you clean your track with alcohol, I meant isopropyl. The 80 proof stuff in the 1.75ML bottle is for martoonis, shaken not stirred.
DougM.....re your snow, my FIL and MIL near you are 88 and 86, respectively. They have some special neighbors who unasked have taken it upon themselves to clear his snow and bring in the mail. FIL buys then rib roasts as a token of his appreciation. I suggested this time around some Coronas, fresh limes, and some frozen Lou Malnatis pizzas.
Railroader_Sailor.....long time no hear. Glad you are back.
Rich......59 degrees and rain in FLA? Feel bad for you, man.
Pat......I can't think of anything more kinky than your voyeur cows, or the romance they inspire by their mooing seranade at your bedroom window. People up this way have to pay for irrigation systems for their lawns. Yours irrigate and fertilize at the same time.
Wonder how Laz is coming along with our train display cases.
Later, gang.
Jack
IF IT WON'T COME LOOSE BY TAPPING ON IT, DON'T TRY TO FORCE IT. USE A BIGGER HAMMER.
Sunny and 22 here today. Scheduled to go down into single digits tonight.
Spanky - condolances for your dad.
Pat - My wife is a librarian. I've had an inventory of my trains for a while now.
Brutus - For whatever it is worth, my H.P. tender whistle does better with the CW80 than the TPC.
Ran trains for a bit today. Remembered discussions here on the forum about smoke units a while back and put more fluid than usual in my Texas Special E-7's - smoking much better now.
Also got out my Alco #210 Texas Special units and gave them some run time. Still need to work on the sticky e-unit they have. While I was running them, I got to thinking about connecting a pair of powered units to a single e-unit, so I'd have a powered pair that would always be in sync. 'Course they would need a tether between them. Anybody else been down this road?
All for now.
Just got back to work and caught up on the pot since Saturday. We closed due to weather a few hours back and yep, it's now snowing again. We got another 18" or so over the weekend and supposed to get another storm this coming weekend. They are running out of places to put the snow on the side of the road.
Buckeye - much belated happy birthday!
Chief - prayers for your mom
Brutus - glad to hear the wife is getting better and they have thought of the gluten issue, but it seems to be more of that I eat rather then what I eat. If is has anything to do w/ particular foods I think it is more of a texture thing.
DJ - so sorry to hear about your dad. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
NavyJack - I think someone else answered your question about the Triton, but she was a big one though. Two reactor units as I recall, was originally intended for radar picket work I believe. She was the first submarine to go around the world submerged. I don't think she was surpassed in size for a while.
So I heard last weekend Tucson got stimulous money to put in the beginnings of a light rail system. We already have some antique trolleys running over original tracks, but it's not run on a regular basis. The trolleys will be coming from an Oregon company.
Got the truck base for the tender from Brasseur's. Should work nicely. I have the smoke piston and lever and Jim has the smoke unit on the way. I should be able to grease the gear train and get the 2025 running around this week.
Heads for the Corvair are under way. Not cheap, but they should be quite nice when done. We are going to be able to convert my block (from a van) to a later model 110 HP engine. Apparently '64 parts makes the change fairly easy and I just have to clearance the block for the longer throw crank.

morning guys. i am hoping for a good breakfast this am (not bagels).. will have to see what mood wife is in when she wakes up. when my grandpa used to visit us from milwaukee he had a blue corvair. he used to be very thrifty and combined the trip with bringing back home a case of oleo-margarine, which was not legal to bring to wisconsin at that time. corvair was cool car. wanted a yellow convert when i was in high school.
pat. the smell of baking has finally left house. wife and daughter in law are back to normal and my son is again being taken to task for every thing he is doing wrong(laid off concrete finisher).
finally by saturday the temp is going above 35. the flying saucer car sounds cool. a buddy of mine went to his home in maine, said there was a big moose in his back yard. they are big critters....all have wonderful day navyjack
Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a gloomy 26 degrees. Snowed about an inch last night. Going up to 30 today with more snow later. Come on Spring.
Today is a busy day. I have an errand to run and a project to do in the house. Some phone calls to make. Maybe some train time later.
Physical Therapy is finished tomorrow. Four weeks. Waiting for Insurance Co. to OK another four weeks. I need it. It has helped me a lot.
Dining car has arrived and Cheerios is the usual for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Thursday.
Chuck
Buckeye & Chuck--
A PERFECT IOWA night, -8 this morning so we get to enjoy our snow a bit longer, sadly mid 30's are forecast for the weekend None of this sissy short sleeve nort caroliner weather for us! Life is good.
Jon
So many roads, so little time.
Good morning all,
A dusting of Snohio was on the ground in SE Indiana, but I did not have to drive so I did not care. Last night was a great night as it was a soccer night! I got two goals and a couple of assists. One of the goals was an upper 90 from about half court. Swish!!! It was a beautiful thing. Made a couple of outside foot passes for the first time. The US got a couple of medals it probably should not have had, but that makes up for the fiasco on the slopes with the women. RockIsland52, I will have to check what you said on the converter boxes. We do not have cable, but there may be a reset somewhere. Work was ridiculous yesterday. Too many stories to tell there. DJ, my condolences on your dad. Dennis, I know what you mean about your mom. I had the regular fare on the dining car for breakfast from "Points East". TBIL anytime. I hope everyone has a good day.
IRL had first open test yesterday. AJs team was 14th. The Princess was 18th. Poor Sarah will probably never be a road racer as she was well off the pace. The usual suspects were at the top of the pack. There are only two American drivers with guaranteed full time rides the entire season (Marco and the Princess). Ryan Hunter-Reay is guaranteed only thru Indy, and Sarah is part time.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Aloha all. Sun is shining down on all the snow this morn. Blue sky. ... 16 degrees, ugh. DJ Spanky, I lost my dad in December. It is a hard thing. Prayers for all your travels and arrangements with this weather. Been there. Prayers also for you, Dennis, I know you miss your mom. Jack, I am so happy that your Illinois relatives have help with the white stuff. Glad to hear Char is up and about a bit more. I think the Roseyville parade display is a great idea. I can just picture the Duesenberg towing the snow gun. SmnBob, welcome back! Looking forward to hearing about the Corvair show. Off to take the youngest to school.

Mornin' boys. "Wintry mix" here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Gotta work thru it tonight.
jonadel - Are you trying to convince us about the weather...or yourself I keep reading my sailing magazines, with all the pretty blue water, and no -8 temps...
Buckeye - Be sure to stop by on your way down...lend you my KEVLAR.
RockIsland - ..."double entendre"... Nevahheardovit.
fifedogjonadel - Are you trying to convince us about the weather...or yourself I keep reading my sailing magazines, with all the pretty blue water, and no -8 temps...
Fife--think about it--no rain, no sleet, no snow, no hurricanes, no earthquakes, no tornado's, no floods, no bugs, etc. I have no problem with this weather as I sit in front of the fire place roasting marsh mellows with my grandchildren and then running trains. Like Fred Rogers used to say "it's a beautiful day in the neighborhood", it is beautiful today with blue skies and bright sun. Sure, I think about warmer temps this summer and being outside but all things given, today is a great day.
jonadel - Face peeling wind chill -or- warm leeward breeezes under a palm tree.
Hmmmm...tough choice.
Myself ... I'd rather be out on a beach roasting marshmallows ... my old friend Arthur Ritis does'nt go along with me in Florida .
Ole Timer Myself ... I'd rather be out on a beach roasting marshmallows ... my old friend Arthur Ritis does'nt go along with me in Florida .
While the Jon and Fify options are truly tempting, I must vote for the Ole Timer option.

Jack ..... the insanity defense ... may work .... all they'd have to do is ask my wife what she thinks ... LOL . 3 more boxes arrived .... getting threatened .... if I suddenly disappear from the forum .... it was'nt the butler .... it was my wife ! i think she wants me to save all my money so when I conk off she'll have alot more for the beauty parlor and a new Buick .... LOL .
Pat ... nothing like climbing on my Kawasaki ATV and cruising a couple miles up the beach and stopping anywhere you want and setting up a camp area ... freedom = privacy = beauty of the ocean .... we should do that sometime like the 2 old guys in the bucket movie with Jack Nicholson . Heaven is not the word buddy ... sling the deep sea rods in and catch supper ... closest thing to heaven . Heck we may even get lucky and a couple thong bikini's come by .... has happened before ... you would'nt mind shareing your filet with one would you ?

Interesting coincidence. My wife came out to the train bldg yesterday, first time in several months. She said "that's new, and that's new, haven't seen that before. I wander how many thousands of dollars you have in these trains"?
I said "nothing new here for several months" and changed the subject to how to paint scenery on the walls. One of here interests is painting.
Dodged the bullet, and maybe the dreaded inventory request.
Ah the games we kids play.

If you are going to buy a Buick you better do it soon. I talked to a dealer last month and got the impression they are going the way of the Oldsmobile.
Cruising the beach is my cup o' tea. Sounds especially inviting this time of year. O yes I would share my filet. I think you took Jacks advice and learned to practice your innuendo and double entendre. Time will tell.
By the way, there are 20 things on the "Bucket List" I have done # 1, 2, 3, and 5. A lot more we can do. And who is to say we can't repeat # 1, 2, 3, and 5.
good morning
20s for the day, sun now but snow showers forecast.
Granny has always been good about my train buying in fact I don't take her to the stroe because she will tell me to buy things I can usually pass on. The owners no help he'll tell her what I've been looking at. I think it may cost me some furniture money soon though. Bill of wild Bills Trains past sunday but the store was a partnership that had already been taken care of. Everyone have a great day...S.J.
Good Day All !
Condolences and Prays Spanky!! Sorry to hear about your Dad. Hope things work well with your Mom.
Brutus, glad to hear Char is doing well! Prayers are continuing!
Hope everyone else is doing well!
Got an early day yesterday, came home about 3:00, rain predicted for the evening, and a busy weekend going on. So was able to mow the front yard. Then wife called and asked if I could go do here parents. Normally, Chris's job, but he has been so busy hasn't been able to get there. So I got that done as well.
Even had some time for the trains. Was playing with the Record function. It is just so cool!! Had two trains running doing a lot of switching alternating tracks, station announcements, and accessory operation. Then played it back and worked! Just love it!!! More ideas growing on different things to do and incorporate.
May have a visitor tonight, my friend received his Vision GE Hybrid engine. So he may come over and run it. That would be cool.
Ray was by your area on Monday & Tuesday. Trips to San Fernando then San Dimas, another trip to Chatsworth then Placenta, lots of miles!
Jack, did my best for your wife, the weather cleared up, but Friday/Saturday not looking good!
Got to get going. Hope all have a great day!!
Don
Afternoon all

May God bless
Early morning meeting over. At Town Hall handling business. Now to go home and pack. BTW: had beautiful snow storm this AM driving in to Raleigh. The Southern Warm Personalities kept it from sticking to anything at all. Also on another note: The over the hill Ioway horn blower's nose will soon be a measuring "rod" and not a yard stick.
Going home to water greenhouse and pack for trip to Bass Pro Shops.
Later.
IIABSDISEI with temps in the 20s. The comment about heaven could not be passed up.
Heaven is....watching Team Red and Green sitting in the pits while AJ's and Sarah's teams fight for the win at Indy on a warm, dry day with the sun shining.
Heaven is....watching "my" soccer girls win the sectional in any weather.
Heaven is...running my Standard gauge trains for the grandkids.
FYI...................
A couple of years ago, a lady that lives down the road from me, had a red Ford Crown Victoria. One Sunday, she and her husband went to Church. As they were parking, in the Church's parking lot, she put the car in reverse to back up. The accelerator pedal went to the floor and the car lurched in reverse, hitting a retaining wall. They were not hurt, but the rear of the car was damaged. The next day, she called the Ford dealer and they sent a tow truck to get the car. Then, they delivered a brand new white Crown Vic to her driveway. She asked them why the car did that and they told her that they had a few with computer problems. They then, paid for her and her husband to get checked out by their doctor. End of story.

Did you say Ford Or Toyoda? Seriously though, that says a lot about Fords integrity at the time.

Doug, you're right, that's the way I had it. Yum yum!
Don, sounds like you covered a lot of ground that day.
SJ, re singing those yankee songs in Roseyville, don't sing that Marching Through Georgia song either if you want to get out alive. Folks all over the South still have'nt forgotten the visit by Gen Sherman in his march to the sea. I have my own opinion about that fellow too but will reserve it here in order to keep peace.
Have a good day all,
