Trying to catch up here......

8N.......hope your Mom is recovering nicely, but a knee replacement will take some serious PT and time.  Prayers her sailing is as smooth as possible.

DougM......thanks for the Museum of Science and Industry link.  Why they ever replaced the iconic and stellar 6+ decades old O gauge layout is beyond me.  Granted, the new HO one is spectacular and they could do so much more with the same space, but......Sad Disapprove

RT.......your job has such impact and is a noble one.  Health care folks are exposed daily to the human side of the profession, so much so that I think it would be impossible for me to avoid developing some level of emotional attachment.  I don't know if I could ever do what you do.  Thumbs UpThumbs UpThumbs Up for the veterans you serve and the new life you bring to theirs.

Ray........now that your eye has been repaired you can pull your telescope back out of mothballs and report on Don's neighbor.

Pat......better to have the cows mooing outside your bedroom window at 3AM than inside at 3AM..

Later Gang,

Jack

Chief sorry to hear about your mother prayers for her are being sent.

Jack I enjoy my job as I'm one who loves meeting and inter reacting with people. Like to day I was in seeing my cardiologist and this guy calls one patient messing up his name and he then said how tall are you? he replied 6' 2 the guy goes well I'm not going to fight you and one lady went chicken and out of no wear I made a chicken sound and everyone busted.

Got my Virginian set in today with TMCC rectifier and 3 coal hoppers and a illuminated caboose. All looks great tried the engine and it runs good too. It has a pul-mor motor with magnatraction so its going to be a good puller.

Hope all have a good night talks to you all later.

Chief, so sorry your mom is not doing well at this time.  My prayers are for her, you and your entire family.  God bless her.

Had Thursday night gang over last night. but we mostly had BS and no trains running.  I can't crawl under the layout yet and had no volunteers to take my place.  Actually, we listened to a lot of music while I was trying to copy a CD on loan from one of the guys featuring Traditional Jazz with Bob Schulz and his Chicago Rhythm Kings.  All of us are wana be musicians except one who is actually a drummer in a local jazz band.  We had cookies and cranberry drink.  A good time was had by all.

Rain is forcast for the next three days so I've battened down all the hatches (again) and getting ready.

Pat, what was that about the cows eating your house?  Maybe they are just lonesome and like to hang around the house at night.

House next door is listed for sale now and pictures are on the internet.  Hope we get a good new neighbor but like Forest Gump says, it's like a box of chocolate, you never know what you are going to get.

One of our Thursday night guys says he bought a MTH U.P. Northern #844 in proto 2.  It's the black one and he got it for a real good price off one of the buy sell forums on the internet.

Did a litttle walking this morning but have not been in the train room all day.  Like to watch some TV in the afternoon sometimes but shows are being preempted by the olympics so have to do something else like read when my eyes get better.

Buckeye, in case I forgot, Happy Birthday! Happy B-Day

Later, Ray

Good Evening:

Trying to catch up on the Coffee Pot. You miss a lot by not logging in for a few days. I have been working long days. I used to be able to check in during lunch and dinner breaks but IT but a block on the forum. I called and they said that because it is an unsecure site it is blocked.

Chief: I am sorry to hear about your Mother. My prayers and thoughts are with her. The same goes to everyone with either themselves or loved ones with health issues or other problems.

Belated birthday wishes to everyone who has recently celebrated.

ON THE SUBJECT OF SCHOOLS: The trend in NJ is to eliminate the hands on shops in High Schools. The only shop left where my son attends is wood shop. The answer in eliminating them is that if the student is interested, let him go to the County Vocational and Technical School. Problem: The Vo-Tech is eliminating and combining manual trade classes and building state of the art facilities known as Academies for gifted and talented. Examples: Marine and Science Academy, Dance and Arts Academy. Meanwhile, the "Trade Schools" for the kids that really need it are suffering with worn and broken tools and equipment and old mismatched and damaged/worn desks and chairs. I have seen this first hand. The academies are top shelf. Could it be that the politicians kid's attend the academies? You have to be accepted. Not any kid can attend the academy. Only 800 in these nice facilities. I'm sorry, I am not being politically correct. I'll be quiet.

Time to turn in. Work day tommorrow.

John

Saw a brite light in the east thinking the full moon was way out of it's cycle, finally realized it was just the candles on Buckeye's birthday cake. Laugh

Happy B-Day and many more to come ! Approve

Chief, Prayers for your mom.

The munchkin was here today, I'm pooped. Grampa fixed waffles and sausage for breakfast, his fav's. Will be at the museum on sunday, so far nobody else has signed-up yet. Got four complete trains packed, will probably add a passenger set to the fray and a couple of back-up engines in case of emergency.

Brutus, Sounds like Char is doing great. Thumbs UpThumbs Up

Haven't heard from Roy in awhile, hope his sister is doing well.

RT, Thumbs UpThumbs Up for the things you do.

Evening all,

Just got home from Eucharistic adoration, during which I offered special prayers for Chief's Mom and Jim F's bride Char.

Tomorrow is the retreat for the folks entering the Church at Easter.  Going to be abusy day!

I received the 764 Station I got off ebay the other day.  It exceeded my expectations.  Very nice.  IT will look great on the new layout we're planning.

Going to rest some because morning comes early.

Good night and may God bless

Hi GUYZ,

Ran trains tonite for 2 hrs., NO PILE UPs!!!!  Another great nite down on the layout.  I have a class tomorrow and Sunday in Harrisburg, so won't be on till later.  I gotta do what I gotta do?  Went to BARRYs and picked up a few scenery items today, got a way cheap at 24 bucks.  Had some nice banter going at the train shop.

Looks like some good stuff going on today - excellent!

Well, I was talking with SJ and Wes and browsing and threw a bid on a 520 at the last second and won it - I think by 1 cent, seriously, because it put in my exact bid of 60.51, so the other guy must have bid within a dollar of that?  Maybe 60.50?  It has the pantograph and said to be in good shape and a fine runner, so I'm excited.  Wife is not as excited as I am Laugh  I better lay off the bids for a little while again!

Continued prayers for all.  All these prayers and intentions are really working guys, thanks so much.

TARDIS is ready and I think an adult beverage or two would not be remiss?  Let's go!  Laugh

Shock   Too much information!!!!!!  Laugh

Off to bed.  Bought rifle [Remington 700 CDL, pretty thing] and Leupold Scope [with Warn bases and rings].  David [owner of Hunters Haven] is putting all together and bore sighting [I have a bore sight but he wanted to do].  I'm suppose to zero at 200 yards.  Will then have "pins" for 300, 400 and 500 yards.

Buddy, Mayor Pro-tem [may not be buddy as he is reason I have house at Kerr Lake as he has one up the street from me] Father passed away today.  His Mom is not doing well either.  He had just moved them to assisted living facility only a few months ago.  They had wanted to stay home and die there.  My Mom wants the same.  Trying to honor her wishes.

Was warm but breezy today.  Pruned grape vines.  Went to pond and sat in back of pickup for an hour and a half with .17 waiting for foxes to cross path and sewer easement.  Not a one came across.  If I was there with 9MM pistol, they would have run across several times.  One big one came out the other afternoon while I was unlocking cable.  Stood in the path about 50 yards away and laughed at me.  Then walked slowly into the woods.  Sent a 9MM his way and got close but they seem to know when the .17 is around.  Wonder if they will know when the .243 is there. Whistling  Beavers have NOT rebuilt their dam in the creek feeding the pond.  No signs of activity.  They suddenly appear and the disappear.

Busy day tomorrow.  Want to run by Miss Edna's, look for a good used John Deere mower at Dealer's for oldest daughter [not going to buy her a new one], go to Garner NC for its Mayor's [who is my Buddy] Brother's funeral, pickup rifle and then wife's friend's wedding at 5 PM.

Sleep tight.

Aloha from class where I am teaching a rare new Sat. class. So far just one question asked I couldn't answer yet. Hope to wrap up in a few hours. Congrats on the 520, Brutus!  Thinking of restoring my pre-war gateman or at least looking into it. Right now using as a static display. Jack, the MSI O gauge layout finally ran out of gas. It was taken down and items auctioned a number of years ago. Glad they replaced it with trains.

Smilecongrats on the 520.  they are cool little engines and i bet you will like it.  it pulls about three postwar cars, and about six mpc cars.  i havent run the k-line by lionel reissue, but it looks very nicely done.  so much more detail than the original and a nicer paint job also.  have a great weekend guys, my grandson is over.  am enjoying him.  i woke up with him staring at me smiling.  takes all the troubles away.  navyjack

I appreciate it, Dad

Jack, I did'nt know that the Chief was your old man.  Then of course, I'm not an old timer on here yet.

Chief, congratulations on your new fox equalizer and beaver reducer.  I hope that you will be able to grant your mother's wishes about spending her remaining days at home.  I just lost my next door neighbor of 34 years and his family through a ot of hard work were able to allow him to stay home until the end.  He had a hospice nurse that came every day and stayed a lot toward the end.  He passed away very peacefully according to his daughter.  I know he was happy to spend his final days at home.  His wife went the same way a few years before.  "He did it his way"

Had a little rain last night but no biggie.  More forcast for Sunday.  Went for a walk this morning and listened to a new tape on my walkman.  Got to get some pounds off, again.  Darn it!  My two sons and grandson are going to a Nascar Nationwide Series race this afternoon at Fontana, California.  Hope it stays dry for them.  That track is located where the old Kaiser Steel Plant was.  I used to take ore trains up there sometimes for the blast furnace when I worked for the Southern Pacific.  All that is gone now.

Have a good weekend all,

Ray
