Ray, glad things went well.  Continued prayers for a speedy recovery.  Heading to bed....wife and kids are already there, but I can hear them all awake.  I am quite sore from doing a little too much on the arms workout yesterday.  Did legs today and a little cardio.  Will do more cardio on Friday.  Have to bring out the cold weather gear for the morning.

God Bless,
Dennis

Winds have died down some.  Hawled all day.  No damage as I know of at pond.  Figured trees would fall as on thin soil on top of rock.  COLD.  Not much happening.  Ended up in meetings all afternoon.  Did feed deer [saw 4] and saw three foxes.  One was eating bird food I put out.  Took a shot at him with 9mm but he was a good 150 feet away.   Came close and scared him badly.  Any other time I would have had .17 along.

Some banilla sounds great to me!  Wife's number went up again, up to 580 now.  She ate lunch and dinner, too :)  Sounds likely for Friday, so I scheduled off from work.  If not, I'll still hang out with her and at least bring a lot of her stuff home, because I'm sure she'll be ready to come home on Monday then....  We'll keep our fingers crossed.  Mammaw is cleaning house for 2 days.  I gave Chewy a good bath tonight and we'll make sure things are as ready as we can get them Thumbs Up

Tardis is ready - let's go!

PS - Ray, continued prayers and also prayers for us all and our friends and family.

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Sunny and high 20's today.  Clear tonight, so it is going to get coooold.

Great medical news from Ray and Brutus.

The Boy Scout troup we were active in when we lived in Bowling Green hiked the Confederate approach to Shiloh and followed the army's movements during the battle.  Hiking the battlefields gives a whole new perspective on history.  After seeing the lay of the land, it is much easier to understand why things happened the way that they did.

All for now.

Ray & Brutus, really glad to hear about the medical reports!!

As a matter of fact I was in Glendale today, (doing a presentation at the Sr Center.)  Had about a hour of free time, and went through the "Village" area.  Really nice!  Looks like the Historical Center was a former Fire Station.  Didn't have enough time to go in, but looked interesting.

Ran trains for awhile tonight, really fun when EVERYTHING is working well.  I had one switch where the position indicator led wasn't working, replaced it and all is well!  Just had one of those days where everything I touched just fell into place, couldn't do anything wrong.  E

xtremely RARE !

I had inadvertenly let my subscription expire for CTT, took care of it, and received the March copy today. saw Buckeyes submission with the remote power off unit.  Really a great idea!  Good job.  (Just dont try it when YOU are standing on a bridge at work and see a train coming!)

Sounds like the weather has really dumped on the east coast.  Definetly will be a winter for the record books.

Got a call from a LA County official, as part of the "Stimulus Recovery Plan" they had a great offer, If I would hire some of their pre identified applicants, for a minimum of $10/hour they will pay for the benefits for 18 months.

Going to go check out the March Issue.  Hope everyone has a great day, and looking forward to more good news from Brutus.

God bless

Don

Chief has been foiled again.  Got less than an inch of Snohio here versus the "morning of" forecast of up to 14".  Prayers for you guys who continue to get hammered.  We've been dodging bullets for three weeks now.  In fact, my wife and I got our first AWD vehicle ever, and then God turned off the spigot.  Banged Head  Will have to pack up the dog and take a road trip to visit Fife or Laz to check on the accumulations and help resupply their beer fridges.

Ray.....great news on your successful eye surgery!  And Buckeye on his continued recovery with his schnoz repair.  Now the two of you can go out hunting together.  Buckeye will scent track 'em and Ray will shoot 'em.  Don't shoot Bob's skunk.  Rumor has it he named it Frank.

Foiled again.  I'll get the snohio up there soon.  BTW: skunk named Frank must mean O'Hare [Buckeye] and not Eagles. Whistling

Wind was suppose to stop at 9 PM.  Think they forgot to tell it which time zone. Confused  Just went out with Lucy and Burg.  Still blowing and cold.  Off to bed.  Reclinerized until Lucy woke me.  Even Wifey's snoring on the couch did not wake me [don't tell her I told you about snoring].

No snow today.  Down for maintenance. The Buckeye Snow Machine should be up and running again this weekend.  If we can get a NW wind we should be right on target although I do enjoy watching D.C. residents whine on TV.

Good Mornin' Ya'll From Cristal Clear Taxachusetts,

Trying to catch up.

Brutus......the news on your bride just keeps coming out good.  We better take up a collection to get you a cleaning service before she gets home, and fast.  Prayers continue from the Northeast and me.

To the New Jersey boys, Englishtown brings back fond memories.  A buddy of mine who was from Edison won Superstock E at the Summernationals there one year mid 70s in his 1969 Hemi Charger.

Chuck......haircut time, you and me both.  Wife is making fun of my grey.  Why do women supply you with a sure fire slam dunk response......like as if grey hair isn't growing on them.  Yes, boys, our better halfs' hair isn't really the color we see.

navyjack.....good news of someone helping you set up a small layout so you can run some of that fine stuff.  You may be surprised when I say this, but a whole host of guys on the forum have no layout or have a very modest one.  You are in good company.  Lots of Indian history in Illinois.  My old neighborhood in Chicago still sports a small memorial called Treaty Elm.  Google Chief Sauganash.

Buckeye.....we are still waiting for pics of your nose job.  Hope you didn't have Michael Jackson's surgeon.

Bob......my SIL took a gander at all of the meds his parents are on and concluded the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing, scheduled an appointment to lay everything out on the table to determine if it is all necessary or even counterproductive.  I saw what they take and am surprised their stomachs still have room for food.

DougM.....Illinois earthquake.  Yikes.  I knew there was a fault line there but isn't 3.8 on the Richter scale one of the larger ones recorded?

Admiral Chief......has a ring to it.  An idea for a TV show?  Bob may be on to something here.  Who will portray you?  The site for the new Rolesville High School discussion drags on, you must be frustrated.  Your city is much like mine.  It took 20 years of debate to determine if the existing high school should be fixed up and expanded versus torn down and rebuilt.  The price tag for either project went through the roof in the interim.

Dennis......re the Confederate Naval Museum......lots of historical stuff up this way.  You Navy guys would really love a tour of the USS Constitution, oldest continuously commissioned warship and restored beautifully.  Some yahoos complained about the annual firing of the cannons which is done when they take it out once a year to turn it around for even weathering.  They should just shut up and move.

OleTimer......you have one dedicated mail lady.  She must have gotten a heads up from you that you were waiting on a train delivery.

Welcome back JohnB.....glad they got those underwater trans-Atlantic cables fixed and you have rejoined us.

Laz and SJ.....need my F diesel fix.  How about some pics of yours on SPF?  Warbonnet is my favorite color.

Later, gang.  Prayers for those who need them.

Jack

Good morning all,

It is cloudy and cold in SE Indiana with temps in the 20s, but no Snohio for once.  Drive into work was fine.  Worked on Indiana taxes (almost as bad as federal to fill out), and did go to the YMCA for soccer drills and weights.  I had enough cardio with the shoveling.   I had bacon and biscuits on the dining car for breakfast as it rolled in from "Points East".  We will see how the "Danica" show does in the Nationwide race on Saturday.  A top 10 there would be significant.  TBIL any time tonight and I can drive.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

No School today again.  Slept in till 7 and then read Wednesday and Thursdays paper.  I guess deliverly person couldn't get through so got 2 papers today.  Gonna shovel snow today, gotta knock down other snow bank at end of driveway so wife can see if coast is clear.  Got the upper side done yesterday.  Then maybe go crosscountry skiing or run on treadmill.  Run trains later.

CHIEF, they run those trains in OHIO at BREAK NECK SPEEDs, gonna have a derailment soner or later.  They should have a speed limit post there for toy train running.

JACK, AWD vehicle come on down and try it out.  I need someone to break a trail for skiing.

Wow, now it's 7 - an hour ago, it was 9. I thought the temp was supposed to get higher as the sun rose.  Off to take the youngest to school. May hit a few hobby stores today - I mean visit.  Jack, I liked an interview with earthquake expert "There wasn't a fault line there in Illinois. But there is now." Mike C, my bride is due at Daytona airport right before the race begins. I'll tell her at the last minute to get there early...

I have no outdoor plans so will get at least some train time.

Chief......if the newspaper article about the meeting is not shining a very uncomfortable light on the knuckleheads, your incendiary article comment did in few but effective words.  Obviously got others on your bandwagon, naming names, asking even more uncomfortable probing questions about plain fact and simple math.  The momentum may be swinging your way.  One of the comments about you was obviously either a cheap shot or a display of (paid) ignorance.  BTW, I didn't know there were any Democrats in the South.  Wink

Sadly, by the time egos were set aside or forceably crushed, our local high school cost four times as much.  Correction, cost the taxpayers four times as much to get what we could have gotten two decades ago.  Time is money, and half- truths and speculation costly.

‘Afternoon, Boys & welcome back John B.!!

Spent the morning running around “picking up” after everyone else here at work, just now getting back to “normal”.  Fife, just before you posted that, I got the alert on my e-mail about the collapse – listening to the scanner from New Castle County, DE, where there is an ongoing collapse at Townsend Fire Co. (I had scoped out going there before I turned down the PHL airport gig).

Weather here is breezy 54F, tomorrow the weather prognosticator sez high of 40 with soaking rains – geez, that’s nice...

Englishtown?  My home on Sundays......Church on Saturdays, race on Sunday.  Did very well there, made the North East Finals, getting beat in my second time by the eventual winner.  Turn your speakers down a little for this: http://216.109.136.172/

Just another reason to go home – season starts on the 28th of February – wow!!

Buckye – youse just keep singin’....and glad you are feeling better.

Angel for Mrs Brutus, Di & Ray.

Check ya back later...

Jack, next Tuesday afternoon, the vote is supposed to be at least 5 for and maybe 4 against.  Now I am sure staff will try to stall it again.  I am thinking of doing any TV interviews in my bullet proof vest.  No joke.  There will be comments about me "playing politics" and getting the school.  That was one reason for the Democrat-Republican comment.  I work well with both parties but have views like the Republicans.  So much for that.

Stayed cold today.  Remembered I had forgotten to water the greenhouse.  Got that done.  Off to a Town Hall meeting with a State Senator around 6 PM.  Laz, 6 pointer seen at the pond this afternoon.

BUCKEYE,

Yep we do it's called DA PANIC BUTTON.  We have three of em in the shop anytime someone is caught in a machine we all panic and run to the nearest switch.  We even practice this during my safety lessons.  Looks like a Chinnese fire drill with all the little kidos running all over.  They make a compition to see who gets to the button first boys or girls.

Good Evening

Sunny all day in the hi 20s.

Just ran a train for a few lapse and all went well. no pile ups. Grannys blood tests came back normal, that still leaves the cyst to deal with but lowers the possiblity of cancer. Thanks for all  your good thoughts. We don't know her doctors plan of action yet except she wants more pictures.

I am ready for the thingy but will keep banilla in freezer till someone shows....S.J.

Smilehello guys, hope that you are all well.  it was cold here today in the 20's and sunny though.  the snow melted off the trees.  i have been accumulating trains for ten years or more, but nothing fancy.  the trains that i have gotten have all been ones that i like and could afford.  problem is after i get them they go in the box and get thrown in the closet.  i have all i can do to hold them with one hand not working.  also have to rely on the wife to give them to me.  i probably should not be into trains given my condition, but i like them very much.  problem is i like to run them also and have not been able to.

dougM.  when you called i had a nurse here, it was her who answered the phone, sorry i could not talk then.  i will try to call you tommorrow when you are coming home from work.

chief. the dr. i had here yesterday was one of those people whose politics you do not like.  i have only one weapon and he made me feel like getting it out.  too big for the job though....i think....sorry to be bloody, but you know us vietnam veterans.

Jack, glad you got back to the "list" so that I can respond to all the other posts I wanted to.  Enjoy the "Cliff Notes" that remind me.  Regarding hair dying....remember Phillis Diller at the celebrity roast of Lucile Ball?  "Lucy wanted to dye her hair back to it's original color...but forgot what it was!"

Regarding all the medications from different doctors, the best policy is to have a good internal medicine doctor that you do your yearly visits to.  Keep him/her updated with all the other procedures  and prescribed medicines that you are on.  In fact, make a list for any doctor that you see.  Some medications have negative side affects when combined with some other meds.  Most physicians are familiar with the other doctors in the local area and if you have a main doctor that you see, he/she can coordinate your care with the other doctors (ie a cardiologist).

Chief, keep up the fight.  When presented with all the facts, some still want to carry the flag of their ideas into the abyss.  I have heard the quote too many times to know its originator, but the line "you are entitled to your own opinion, but not your own facts".

Laz, When I was in high school, one of the guys in my shop class was trying to plug in the table saw and somehow it shorted and started on fire.  That was the only time I have seen one of those panic buttons hit.  Kid's hand and arm were badly burned.  While the saw had shorted hitting the button shut down all shop equipment and cleared the work area for the medical team.

Well, we are under a "snow watch".  Can't believe it.  They have actually shut all the schools and the local air port on the chance that it may snow in the morning.  Chief, I think Jack has found a way to push it back down this way.  Call out the cavalry!  We have to fend off this attack!

The AgriRama was neat.  They have a 1890's school that their teacher (agrirama's teacher), takes the kids to a classroom in the school.  They have school for a few hours and end with a spelling bee that the parents and teacher (their normal one) can come and watch.  During the time away from the kids, we toured the old museum and learned a lot about the local farming community.  They have a old Vulcan 0-4-0 steam engine that they run on Saturdays.

Gotta run, but hope to check back.
God Bless,
Dennis
