Ray best of luck, I will be facing that one day down the road. Just no bad enough to do yet.

Buckeye, if they have you using a "Nettie pot", don't get rid of it when you are done. They are great when you have bad sinus infections or heavy congestion. Same thing, just flush with Saline. Just make sure it is at least room temp, perhaps slightly warmer or you will get a real brain freeze.
Front-line parenting was OK. took about 40 minutes longer than scheduled and it about wore me out. It is neat in that they have parents as well as principles and teachers all coming together to give some direction to help give our kids a fighting chance. I believe they are keeping all these DVDs that are being filmed for an eventual set to help other parents who can't attend. These events also allow for parents to share their concerns with the educators so that the feedback goes both directions.
Well, gotta run and hit the sheets so I can have a little sleep for the morning cases. We have the credentialing committee in the hospital to evaluate and certify the hospital for the next few years. While I know that it is necessary so that institutions are kept up to Parr, it is also a pain in the backside as we have to have everything at the ready in case they come to our department to ask questions. It is just one of the disruptions I would rather not have. Oh well. I know I wouldn't want their job either.
God Bless,
Dennis

Brutus,
Glad to hear Char is getting better. BTW, I found Silent Hill 1. Haven't had a chance to check it out.
I didn't have to go to work Saturday because the store was closed due to the weather. Campus is closed all week as well, so I've got some time to burn this week. I am thinking about getting back to work on the 326 resto.
Is anyone else here watching American Pickers on the History channel? I am really enjoying it, and I am waiting for Mike and Frank to stumble accross some trains.
Jim, I was surfin thru the channels and just happened on it when they spotted that "White Castle" building as they were rolling down the road. That guy had some sweet stuff in is yard and outbuildings, a B&O caboose and RR freight station. Those horse drawn carriages were awesome.

Woke up to gray skies and about 3" of snow on the ground. Cloudy and flurries all day.
Thoughts are with you on your proceedure tomorrow SPman.
Still trying to figure out why I was so hacked off at the end of the work day today. Just usual busy day, with the usual interruptions getting in the way of doing things I was planning on. Plate of whole wheat spaggetti and a glass of red wine for dinner sure helped my attitude.
97 Probe - Found your Pontiac yet, or is it still MIA under the snow?
It is interesting what people will build and power with V8 engines. I saw a picture in one of the car magazines of a chain saw powered by an aluminium Buick 215. Seems to me those were good for about 180 horses. Let's not forget about Top Gear's Corvette powered blender, either.
Later all.
Need to get Mike, Laz and Rich to put a jet burner on the Tardis so we can really blow some snow off some driveways for some of the guys! We're getting a couple inches tonight, but nother serious. I'll go into work late.
Numbers are still going up for my wife and she's doing a lot better. We talked a few times today. She might be able to come home Friday or Monday depending on swallowing, if there are no infections.
TARDIS is good to go and we have plenty of supplies except for banilla of course! Lets hit it!
PS - Ray, prayers for the peepers man! Prayers for us all and our families and friends.
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Spent some time last week recovering from the cold I got from our clock-setting engineer (I don't think I'll put another dead battery in) . Sounds like we got at least another 10" or so on top. Will post some photos of the drive down last week when I get back to work.
NavyJack - cool that you've got help setting up a layout!
Buckeye - glad to hear the nose job went ok.
Ray - prayers for you cataract surgery.
Brutus - best news I've heard all week! Keep it coming!
Have another follow up w/ the doc tomorrow. She's keeping tabs on the medications and the other issues I'm still struggling with.
Hopefully will feel up to some more engine work tomorrow.
Chief - just picked up a novel about the Monitor and the Merrimack. A big fan of the Monitor of course, but you have to admire the sam of the Southern navy. Sent you email.

Bob, by the title of the book you are reading, we can tell which side of the MD line it was written on.... I was raised thinking the same, but down here, they call the southern vessel CSS Virginia. I am sure Chief will chime in on that one. Very interesting history there. In Columbus, GA, where I used to live, they have the "Confederate Naval Museum". They have two ships they pulled off the bottom of the Chattahoochee River there. They also have a bunch of information on all the naval vessels of both sides. Getting ready to head in. No scheduled hearts, but plenty of other work to get done. All dressed up to actually hit the gym afterward. I have not heard back from the seller yet on that caboose I won on the bay. Did pay using PayPal, so I am at least hopeful of getting it.
Brutus, that is great news about Char. Will continue to pray for more improvement and eventual victory over this. Now you just have to make sure the home is wiped clean...change air filters, and get everyone in the habit of cleaning hands as soon as they enter the door, and several times throughout the day. If anyone has the slightest hint of a cold, etc., make sure they were a mask. You can pick them up at some pharmacies, or ask the nurses at the hospital before Char leaves. Masks are not meant to protect the wearer in most cases, they protect others from the wearer. Makes me laugh when you see all these people wearing masks out in public. Also, family needs to practice not touching the face during the day. Wash hands before and after if you do. That is one of the biggest sources for getting sick. I am sure the folks at the hospital can fill you in on more, but that is what comes to mind so far.
Have a great day,Dennis
Morning. Cold rain and early meeting.
1. When I retired from the State, I got a proclaimation saysing I was an Admiral in the Confederate Navy. [along with some other jargon. Did get the Order of the Long Leaf Pine ordered and signed by the Governor, not many get that]
2. Don't think Jefferson Davis was the only one of his family. Check and see if he had uncles, brothers and the like. Don't think he was "hatched" but was born like most folks. So you are still kin down the line. OH NO, still makes me kin to Shake and Bake.
Later.

Aloha all. Just a smidgen of snow so far. Got up early to check the schools - the bride's phone gets all the closure calls - LOL. Jack, sounds like a nice ride. Nice memories of NJ with you, Rich and Dennis. I grew up on the other side of the Hudson but remember the radio commercials for Palisades Amusement Park - though we went later to Great Adventure - and the raceway in Englishtowne. 'Funny cars! Funny cars! Funny cars!" Sir J, I sent the bride 4 bottles of wine (wee ones) to her hotel. Looks like she's picked up a few more. Dennis, My son has a new practice - washing his hands while singing his ABCs. When he gets to Zed, he can stop. We have an all-Sat. Parents Univ. at the local high school which is very well received. The bride feels she's had enough experiences to teach all the classes. Took me all day and much of the night to finish fed. and state taxes. Never sure I do them right even with the fancy software. TIme to find a professional. Had 'Top Gear' in the background. Great show. Navyjack, great news on the layout! You deserve it. Bob, I've built models of many ACW naval ships; have playtested lots of wargames about them. Virginia v. Monitor was a very interesting tactical matchup. I think I have a copy of your novel...

HI GUYZ,
13 here and awaiting another 10-18 inches of SNO HI O!!!!!! Gotta get some gas after school and ready again to do the SNOWBLOWING. Can't wait.
BRUTUS, get DA TARDIS ready to blow all the snow here.
Stay frosty,

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is 18 degrees. Cloudy. Going up to 28 today with snow on the way. No snow has fallen yet.
Today is an easy day. Few chores to do. Then, I will run trains this afternoon.. Physical therapy went well, yesterday. I'm a little achy today. I have some new exercises to do at home. Left leg is the one that needs the most work.
Dining car has rolled in and it is the usual for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Tuesday.
Chuck
Good morning all,
It is Snohiong in SE Indiana with temps in the 20s. Did some shoveling last night and other tasks and so only did weights at the YMCA. From time to time I have mentioned Second Life here with out going into much detail. Again, without going into a long drawn out explanation of what it is and how it works, let me just say last night I was treated to listening to an old style radio theater production set in 1942. It featured Bob Hope in "My Favorite Blond". It was an hour long show which included "commercials" for Lux Soap Flakes. It was pretty cool. The drive into work was slow but steady and I made it on time after leaving a half hour earlier. I had the regular fare on the dining car after it arrived from "Points East". TBIL after "Lost". I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Couldn't sleep much last night so got up today to start things early. The construction next door tends to wake me up anyway. I've decided they could just cut an album of one of the local radio stations and call it "Construction Rock" and sell it on late night television. Probably will end up crashing in the afternoon, so prob not much time on the engine.
I did find that I have most of what I need for the old airbrush. I'm going to try painting the shell of the 258 during my off time on the hill.
I was just reading a lengthy description of the Merrimack/ Virginia name in another book. Seems even the spelling of Merrimack was confused. It was named for the river w/ a "k", not the valley it runs thru w/ a "c" (all the Wabash class ships were named for rivers). The Confederacy always officially referred to it as the CSS Virginia, but I imagine the old name was still thrown around a bit. After all the chief engineer of the Virginia served on her when she was the Merrimack. If you haven't guessed already I find the period fascinating, a blend of wooden wall and sail and steam and new technology.
Chief, I like the Admiral designation. I'm sure you've also heard of the Confederate Air Force. If the CSS Arkansas was still around you could threaten to send her up the Ohio:)
Doug - the novel series is by David Poyer. Found the 3rd book in a used bookstore last night. I've already read the first, and I'll have to keep looking for the second.
Ray - once again, hope the cataract surgery goes well.
hello guys hope that you are ok. got three or four inches of snow here, and are supposed to get eight or nine more today. did anybody get the general sets that lionel had several years ago? there was a blue train and a grey train. i thought they would be neat to collect. where we live there was what they called the blackhawk indian wars. we found a cannonball buried in our back yard when we dug a french drain. this is where the blackfeet indians used to winter. general atkinson's cavalry from wisconsin and the infantry from rockford arsenal wiped them out and now there is evidence of many native american spirits here. we also found old spurs buried here, that were wrapped in an old piece of leather. local archeoligists several years back said there were lots of dead indians buried on our property. oh well if that is so they know we are good caretakers of the land. and wife has been mistaken for a winnebago many times. it is very peaceful here. navyjack
hello chief congratulations on your promotion to admiral. i will have to salute you now.
submmbob...did you read anything about the hunley? they raised it from off the nc coast.
also when i was overseas, i remember (must have been 1969?) they found the wreck of the monitor. they local scuba diving club also found the wreck of a jap midget sub. (philippines). they raised it and it still had the dead japs inside.
p.s. anybody watched the movie the ironclads? i have it if anyone wants to borrow it. navyjack
Doug,
I missed that episode. Some of the stuff they buy amazes me, and as a result, I won't throw any more stuff away. I'll just toss it out into the yard.
8n,
Unfortunately, I did find it although it took a lot of digging. I am still kicking myself for rushing and buying it and not waiting for another PGT or a ZX2 to come up for sale. Oh well, at least I know to never make this mistake again.
Not much planned for today other than some homework that needs to be done.
Good Morning
Snow just started, 6 to 10 is the guess. Darn I was getting use to the brown grass. I did my errands yesterday so if the power and furnace keep working we can handle a few days indoors. No comment on the chief being an admiral, they don't even have a rowboat. Guess I'll run some trains today and look out the window...S.J.
Hi GUYZ,
Early dismiss for me at 12:30, for oncoming storm.
NAVYJACK, do you ever see GHOSTs? With all that were killed there thought for sure you'd see some?
Good Afternoon from snowy Southern Ohio
Buckeye - Great news on the nose job. Like Dennis said the Netti Pot is great. Iuse one and it is remarkable what it will do.
Jim F - Continued prayers!!!!! They are working!
Ray - Prayers for your surgury
MAy God bless
Jim
Snow started a bit ago ... they are now saying we may get another 10" - 20" ...
JIM/Green97Probe .. I've been watching the American Pickers also ... man that looks like fun !
Navyjack .. I'd love to bring my metal detectors there and go treasure hunting .
Submmbob .... did'nt know you were looking for airbrush parts ... have a great dealer on the web with about all the parts and even new ones discounted if you want it .
Chief .... I'm proud to say 80% of my ancestors who fought in the civil war were members of the glorious CONFEDERATE army ..... was even able to download alot of pics of them in uniform with alot of statistics . The Stars and Bars fly here every year on President Davis' birthday . Most of them were from Kentucky .... and many from Virginia and Carolina .
sir james I Good Morning Snow just started, 6 to 10 is the guess. Darn I was getting use to the brown grass. I did my errands yesterday so if the power and furnace keep working we can handle a few days indoors. No comment on the chief being an admiral, they don't even have a rowboat. We have the Ram Neuse at Goldsboro NC [State Archives Site, it was rasied after being scuttled] and the Ram Albemarle [underwater and never raised as it was scuttled when the Yanks invaded]. These ships were designed to ram the Yanks ships guarding the waters off of NC.
One step closer to Rolesville getting a High School. Facilities Committee voted to abandon the H6 Forestville Rd site and to move to selection of one of the two sites I recommended [in Rolesville].
A morning of pure errands but I got a lot done. Had a good follow up w/ the doc as well. Dennis, they are going to put me on a Holter(?) monitor for a day the next week I am back. This is to check out some of the heart rate/palpatation issues that can happen after I eat. Pretty tired after last night's sleep schedule. Don't think the engine is coming out today, but I'm waiting for a call about ordering engine parts.
Ol' Timer - I have an old Badger 200 that I bought when I was a kid. Still has a can of freon w/ it. Guess I'll take that to household hazardous waste. Was trying to find a way to use my compressor at home or at work to run it instead of buying a small one for painting the #258. Looks like I can easily hook it up to our portable compressed air tank at the scope. Still has the flyer, "Badger Is the Choice for the '80s" in the box.
NavyJack - the Mariners Museum in Norfolk now has the recovered turret and engine (in addition to many other artifacts) from the Monitor site. A friend of mine helped build the exhibits a few years back. I think the turret is still in the conservation process. I'd love to make a working model of the side-lever steam engine most of the monitor's used. The book "Raising the Hunley" is a must for anyone interested in Civil War history.
Chief - tell 'em about the story of the Arkansas. One hastily built ironclad embarrassed the whole Union Navy.
The 2025 and tender arrived today. Obviously has some run time but it's in fairly good shape. I set the 2026 alongside, and while it's not much longer its much heftier. No smoke unit present, but definitely room for one. Did they build them w/o units or has it just gone missing?
Submmbob ..... still using my old Paasche i bought over 15 years ago myself ... goes to show us .. if you buy a good one they last for many years .... I used the devil out of it when I used to airbrush Harleys .... it's still going strong .
Snowing like the devil in Maryland mountains here ... laying and piling up fast ! Mail lady did make it to my mailbox with 2 train items .... will help to have more to do .... because I won't be going anywhere for awhile .
Heading for the Bay and fire up the tardis .... beacon's on ... heater running warm and ready for boarding !
dwiemerJust make sure it is at least room temp, perhaps slightly warmer or you will get a real brain freeze.
Now you tell me. Talk about waking up real quickly. I'm not putting it in the freezer again.
We are getting snow, but the boys up north are supposedly getting hammered and then there are the whiners in the Baltimore area. You would think the world is coming to an end because D.C. had some snow. Of course it is bad when you forgot to buy a snow shovel and are now using the cat litter box's shovel to clean out parking spot on your Frau-Frau street near the White House. Stop complaining!!
For our steam locomotive fans; make sure you pick up a copy of Classic Trains.
Took some photos today. I really liked how these turned out.
They were taken without flash and about six feet away from the track on the tripod.
Brutus....Great news. See you on FB.

Like I say, COWBOY UP!
hello guys the layout by buckeye riveter is great the mth station looks gook and i especially like the trainmaster. is it a williams? one of my favorites. i have an mth virginian and a williams orange/blue jersey central lines. i would really like to see them run. i hear they are good pullers. thanks for the photos
laz 57 my wife and i have seen lifelike appearing native americans in the woods around our home. and all of us including our grandson have heard a steam train., (there have been no trains around here for 25 years). i hope you will not think less of me, but it is true. navyjack
fifedogLike I say, COWBOY UP!
Hey Fife, ever since "Broke back MTN.", you have to watch such talk
Chief, sounds like you done good on the school property choices. Hope it continues to go well for you and the school system too.Bob, another great story to read is about Capt. Simms and the CSS Alabama. There is a famous painting with the battle off the coast of Europe. I would suggest that Capt. Simms was the most feared naval leader of the Civil War.
Buckeye, sorry for the late notice. Hope you didn't freeze too much grey matter.....at least you take great photos! Of which, better watch that person on the platform leaning towards the tracks....he may end up as a hood ornament on the next FM to come by.
Practiced violin with both kids, daughter went to Tap dance lessons, and now it is time to go over son's advanced reading books. They take a test on them each morning. Wish we had this when I was young, one reason I am such a slow reader.
navyjackthe layout by buckeye riveter is great the mth station looks gook and i especially like the trainmaster. is it a williams?
Thanks for the compliment. There are other photos of the layout on my web pages. Yes, it is a Williams FM Trainmaster. It has an ERR kit installed so that I can run it with TMCC. I have had 15+ cars behind it and it can easily pull them.
Here's another photo from the other side of the layout. See the nose of the Shark just exiting the bridge. Many of my photos are taken near the billboard and the smoking switch tower on the lower track. If I had to do anything over, the bridge in the background would have been painted.
Good Evening
Lite snow all day and into tomorrow morning. About 4 inches so far.
Its always nice to see layout pictures, good shots. Brutus I am ready for a ride in the thingy. I still have banilla if you want some...S.J.
