 Good Morning all:

Banks - we are still moving snow here on the farm as well. I hope to finish before the next "Global Warming" stuff falls.

Brutus - Great news about Char. My offer for the sheepskin items still stands.

John - Congrats to your son and his buddy. That is the way it use to be back in the day.

My hope for Danica is that she stays in the big leagues along enough to gain experience. She is defiantly talented, but needs seasoning. In my opinion, there is way to much hype about her. Leave her alone and let her do her thing.

She has an uphill battle and can do without the press hounding. Remember the other 4 or 5 Indy drivers that tried NASCAR? Montoya is the only one that has done well. As to today's Nationwide race, Danica is up against at least 12 regular Cup drivers, and she starts 26th.

The NASCAR rule changes --bigger restrictor plate and doing away with regulations on aggressive, bumper-banging "bump drafting"-- is great for us spectators but will work against the less experienced drivers like Danica. No bump drafting in Indy racing.

Bump-drafting will now be allowed on the curves. If Danica finishes at all it will be in the back of the pack. The acception would be if the rest of the field gives her a free pass.

Don - A weekly NASCAR dirt track show definitely gets my vote!

Back from the lake house.  Lake is way above anything I've seen before.  We got less snhio in VA than Roseyville.  Less in Roseyville than the coast.  The snow in VA was almost gone when we left.  No snow on the highways.  In fact Roseyville did not have to get out its mules and drag to do streets.  Got ph otos of snow and lake I will share later.

GladChar his home.  Great news.

Got home tonight after picking up the kids and what a day it has been.  We dropped the kids off about 1330 and bride and I went to see the movie.  Good flick...not as high a body count as "Taken", but it was all good.  Language was a bit much for children, but still very good.  Followed movie with dinner at our favorite Sushi place and desert at home.  When we arrived at the house, my Georgia Power caboose was in the mail box.  It not only has the original box, but also the shipping carton.  Cost a bit more than it would have originally, but I have found them hard to get.  In the end, it was a great day.

Of course, now our daughter is complaining of a sore throat, so we do have a little down side.  Going to head to bed as we have church in the morning and I think I will be on camera.

Good evening all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 20s.  Several notes and comments are in order.  First of all, congrats to Brutus and Char on the homecoming!  As Churchill once put it, "This is not the beginning of the end, but perhaps it is the end of the beginning".  Tough days still lie ahead and prayers will be forthcoming until the final victory.  On Danica, she has been racing in the big leagues the last five years.  230 MPH in an Indy car with no fenders definitely makes her a qualified driver.  NASCAR requires a different style.  Most Indy car drivers came up thru carts and rear engine racers while most NASCAR drivers drove pavement super modifieds and sprint cars.  Two different styles and two techniques.  Probably neither group could do well on dirt (i.e. Steve Kinser ), which is a third type altogether.  Watched Opening Ceremonies for Olympics last night.  Always impressive.  Was sad to hear about luge runner's passing.  Went to see "Percy Jackson and the Olympians" with the wife tonight.  Very good movie.  Loved all the mythology.  Some may criticize on anti-religious grounds but pay attention to speech at the end.

I see where the Snohio invasion was a complete success.  I had bacon and biscuits on the dining car this morning for breakfast when it came in from "Points East".  TBIL any time.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Chuck ......I believe we are headed to prison for a long long time. Shock The snow that we aimed at the Chief hit Hilton Head Island, SC.  That's where the big money Dilberts live and tie up their yachts. It wouldn't surprise me that HH bans all Ohioans for the next twenty years, while we serve our time at Chillicothe or  Marion. Dead   I wonder what prison life will be like.  I guess I'll need to ask someone that knows about it, the Chief.  Laugh

Well tomorrow is the big day.  I can't wait to hear the reports about who is sleeping in the dog house.

SJ.....I can believe the lake being too rough for the ferries to cross.  I assume you know where the NS railroad tracks cross from the mainland to Port Clinton.  Several years ago the wind blew the train off of the trestle.  The cars actually landed on the ice and went sliding.

Attended the train show at the fair grounds.  The amount of O gauge was dissappointing, especially the used equipment.   There were more Williams dealers than before and their prices were fair.

fifedog.....Yes, WV Hot Tubs are great.  Sit in the tub, drink a glass of wine and watch the bears block your way back into the house.

Good Evening

Well at 29 degrees and cloudy, no snow melt today.

Had a phone call tonite from Doug M. stuck in traffic trying to get to the airport before his wifes plane landed. Here's hoping he made it  AND has a clean house. Banilla is ready and I guess the thingy is going to go way back tonite to find a nice summer day somewhere. Ran some trains this afternoon and a nap on the couch was my day...S.J.

Another quiet night at the 'scope collecting photons. Working on a few misc. projects for the scope. Just replaced a fan that was going out in one of the computers. More color coding of tools and monitor installations later (need to get Chief an LCD screen that's called a virginia). Hopefully I can eventually get some time on the trains. Realized I left the case w/ the transformer at home or in the other truck. Won't be able to grease or run the 2025. I guess I can at least clean it up. Then start on getting the 258 ready for paint.

Brutus - glad to hear the wife is home!

Well tomorrow is Arizona Statehood Day. Been in the union for 98 years now. Oh, that's right it's something else. This is the first time I've needed to think about Valentine's Day in quite a while. Wish me luck that I do the right thing.

Pat - thanks, you're a good guy Thumbs Up  Can't do it, but the offer is so appreciated!

Hudson/John - good on your family for that snow shoveling story, loved it!

I want to see The Lightning Thief and also that Mel movie, both look great.  Sometimes there are just no good movies out and other times there are 2 or 3 I want to see.  Usually, I wait for the dvd though, or cable.

Manager at The Shack was a jerk, but I did get that card returned.  Then had to get AT&T to fix the account and close that line.  I would not recommend these cards - even with 5 bars of connection, there were big lags in recieving and sending data.  We were in our time limit to return it, so I just had to put up with his behavior, including the fact he was talking to his wife on his blue tooth thing the whole time he was "helping" me.  Sheesh!

TARDIS = READY!  Need to get Laz and Wes to bring their Shays and run them on the TARDIS layout together, double header Smile

Things were quiet at work tonight, so that was a nice change.  I might put the 332 on the layout tomorrow and take some pics.  I am watching "Wannabe Street Racer Crashes" on Youtube right now, and it is entertaining to say the least.  Maybe he should have learned to drive instead of trying to race?Laugh

After all the times I've had to transit thru O'Hare enroute someplace else the term "great" was never included in the description. Sigh

Evenin' All.

Good day at the museum yesterday, one minor collission when a coilcoupler opened in a not so good spot, left a cylindrical hopper slightly exposed on a reverse loop. Blush

Spent a rather warm afternoon working in the yard, leveling some gopher mounds, pulling weeds and cutting grass.

Got a minor surprise for granny for tomorrow, the munchkin will be here so he will be my cohort. He is in for quite a Valentine surprise as well. Last weekend he came by with a snotty nose and sneezes, give you three guesses as to who had it all this week.

Chuck & Jon....Did you see the Chief's photos where he claims that it is a harsh winter in NC?Laugh First of all you can see the grass through the snow.  We would be out playing golf if that were the case here in Ohio.   Secondly, the water in that lake is soft water, not hard water with a white coating.  Obviously the word blizzard has a different meaning for us.  In the South blizzard = one flake of snow.

VALENTINES DAY 2010......Wife will love going to White Castle for lunch.

Speaking of getting your butt kicked, my beloved Boilermakers rolled over the Hawkeyes yesterday.

The BIG RACE is today.  Mike C., looking forward to your after race commentary about the dark haired girl.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a cloudy 22 degrees. Going up to 29 today with a few snow showers. We really need more snow. If I saw grass, I;d go out and mow it.

Today is the Daytona 500.  Yesterday's race was a demolition derby. Good thing no one got hurt. Tony #14. will try to win his first 500.  I think I will watch the race from the train room. I need to run trains.

Dining car is here from " Points West ". Looks like Buckeye has already had breakfast. All the donuts are gone.  Cheerios for me.

Y'all have a great Sunday.

Dear EPA,

It has been brought to my attention that residents of Roseyville, NC in order to gain sympathy and money for their pet pork barrel projects are perpetuating a scam of gigantic proportions.  As we know, this last week our Nations Capital received record amounts of snow.  Obviously, the officials of the Town of Roseyville learned that unbelievable amounts of publicity were afforded the D.C. area.  In order to gain publicity for Roseyville, they cooked up a true Boss Hog scheme of making the countryside appear to be in the grasp of a major snow storm by spreading toxic white grits.  The scheme if left unchecked could bring to the town vast amounts of federal dollars for waste cleanup and the development of a grits ski resort on a certain officials farm.

I know you are busy with global warming, but I believe this should be priority #1.

Buckeye & Chuck--

Just looked at Chief's photos of "snow", that's a light frost in Iowa, sheesh Approve  Woke up to 4" of beautiful fluffy snow this AM, hopefully the strong winds later will take it to MO for Jim to enjoy.

Not much new here except the grind continues, sure looking forward to spring ....... in July.

Buckeye--the Hawkeye's are pathetic, they can't even give tickets away to their games.

Good Morning, We have a heat wave at the Jersey Shore. It just reached 29. Must be global warming. We just got back from Church and stoked up the wood stove and poured a cup of coffee and went to the computer as the wife went back to sleep and my son took the dog out. One of my nephews is a chef and he invited the family over for a Valentines Dinner. He said that he is making everything from pulled pork, lasagna,3 types of chicken and the list went on. The renovations are behind schedule at the restaurant, so this is a good time for him to entertain. I was hoping to get time today to tear down my 2332 GG1, (eventhough it as 5401 on it) and see if it was originally a black engine and dig into it's history if possible.

Good health and friendships to everyone.

Good evening all,

Mike C. from Indiana

Mike C - I think you misunderstood my comments on Dacica. I said she is a well qualified driver, and the big leagues I was talking about was the top two races of the NASCAR series. She needs a lot more experience in NASCAR before she will be a top contender. She will get there if she sticks it out and the press leaves her alone.

Case in point, she is scared to draft, let alone bump draft.  During the race yesterday she was over heard to say "I feel 10 times more comfortable when I am 2-3 car lengths behind" the car in front.

A large number of the top NASCAR drivers came from dirt tracks, unlike Indy drivers. This gives the NASCAR drivers a leg up for the Nationwide and Sprint races.

Buckeye - The "dark haired girl" doesn't race today.Whistling
