Fife, sent you a message.  If the poached eggs are making the wife baulk at the smell, you may want to run some trains and have the smoke at full blast!

On a more serious note, Bob Scott who was the director of photography on our movie Fireproof, has been involved in missions in Haiti.  If you go to the link, the first video after a 30sec. commercial is him and his latest experience.  Quite humbling.

I am now watching Trains and Locomotives on the Nickel Plate.  Has been a good show so far.  These and I Love Toy Trains have made it worth getting RFD on my satellite.
God Bless,

Just finished digging out from a horrible blizzard.  On Sunday they had predicted about 1" of snow with wind, we ended up with 6.4" and sustained winds of 40 MPH and gusts up to 54 MPH.  Interestate 80 & 35 are still closed in places, extremely dangerous storm, that follows the major ice storm of last Wed., we can't catch a break.  Oh well, we just deal with it, some folks in NW Iowa have been without power since last Wed. and now this.

SPMan - May your problems soon be behind you.

Fifey, that reminds me of the slogan Louis Armstrong had for his laxative called "Swiss Chris".  The slogan was "leave it all behind you" and shows a picture of Louie sitting on the throne on the label.

I'll laugh when it's over.

Doug D.--THANKS, I'll check with him,  I drove past Torrey Pines twice on our last visit to SD, GORGEOUS.  I saw on the Today Show that their revenue is way down because Tiger isn't going to be there this year, it's a different world we live in today.

The Bob Hope tourny suffered the same fate,no big name golfers and the LPGA has cut their schedule, attendance is down because there are not enough USA golfers. They must come and play here for higher prize money, I guess.

Doing some late work to tie things up before I leave for Nashville tomorrow.  Had to go over some contracts and service agreements with a director earlier.  Sad when those who sign on the dotted line know nothing about the items to which they are in charge.

Jon, All kidding aside, I hate that the folks are getting caught by such bad weather.  Hope they are able to get through this latest round.  Heard there may be another storm coming from  out Don's way that will turn to snow when it gets closer to you.  Maybe when I head towards Nashville, I will stop by algore and ask how that global warming is working out for him?

Some days, your kids just do the cutest things and make ya just want to hug them forever.  Today, my daughter had made a "map" using finger paints and was going to give me directions on how to get to the hotel tomorrow.  Then, she was telling me where she wants to eat...BB King's.  Wife and kids love ribs, so we will take that in.  They are also getting into music, so this should be a great trip.

Hope everyone has a blessed night.

Sunny and mid 20's today.

There are advantages to haveing a wife that works at the library - 1st pick of the culled books.  She came home today with a 1990 vintage Greenberg's guide to toy trains.  Just thumbing through it, it looks like it covers all American makes from pre-war through post war.  Cost a whopping 50 cents!

All for now.

Chamber dinner over.  Was good.  Got windy and turning cooler.  I think Brother Jon has gotten a little "testy" over my joke.  Now I hear wintery mix to snow on Friday night into Saturday.  Then single digits on Sunday night/Monday morning.  Guess he is getting even by sending some Ioway this way.   Hunter's Haven in Roseyville has a Remington 700 CDL in .243.  It is now reserved for me.

Later.

Jon.....I have been around those winter storms that kill cattle and those are the worst.  Today is the anniversary for the 1978 blizzard that killed many people in Ohio and Indiana.  The snow started falling and then the wind howled for two days. This last weekend, when we were back in Indiana we drove down our old street and commented how we remember 8-10 feet of snow blocking the street.  Take care and keep safe.

Evening all !!  Don't mean to be the bearer of more bad news, but their sure is a line of storms off the Coast.  Sure hopes it isn't as bad as last week's was.  Today we got another 1/2" of rain.  But wasn't the wind and cold bitterness.  Over the past weekend given all the snow accumulation, Big Bear area was closed because they were out of gas, and supplies to support the crowds.  Just opened again today.  They were only letting in residents and delivery vehicles.

Hope the weather lets up some across the nation, we certainly don't need any more catasrophies or issues.

Needed to replace the batteries in my Lionel Cab Forward and Big Boy, they were really acting "hinky".  Sure improved with the new batteries.

Friend of mine just received the new Lionel Pennsy Vision engine, he doesn't have any place to run it.  He had to take his layout down, because his 13 yr old kept destroying stuff. Banged Head  So extended an offer for my layout, will be looking forward to seeing all the features on that engine!

Prayers for all in need !! Angel

Hope Roy's sister is doing better, and glad about Brutus's wife.

Take Care

Just catching up on the pot after a fairly busy week off. Moved the van over to the house. Now have a 4-spd trans for it. Ran a lot of errands the last few days. Have a another cool Russkie watch. Pulled everything off the top of the Corvair engine. It's nearly ready to pull. Built a cradle/cart to hold the engine and trans when I drop it. Caught up w/ an old friend tonight. Oh, and went thru last session of diabetic class and picked up my orthotic inserts for the boots.

We apparently got 9 feet of snow on the hill in about four days last weekend. Phones and internet were down and they had no place to put all the snow. Started using the snowblowers which they haven't used in 10 years. Pictures looked like SP going over Donner Pass. Most remarkable, one of the engineers had to stay thru the weekend. They are still trying to travel up in groups. I'll need to call in the morning and see what the timing is and more is on the way of course. I'll post some pictures later.

Brutus - love to here all the good news!

Need to find a pillow so I can get on the way tomorrow.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a cold 22 degrees. Going up to 38 today with cloudy skies. Sure would be nice to see some sunshine.

Today ia busy. I have a bunch of paperwork to do and some chores around the house. I will be busy most of the day. Must take time to do my exercises this afternoon. They certainly help. Next appt. for physical therapy is Friday,

Dining car has rolled in for the usual breakfast. Then, it will be off to all of the "Points West".

Y'all have a great Wednesday.

Good morning all,

It is clear today in SE Indiana (for now).  Survived yesterday.  Rest of week looks to be interesting, but hopefully not as intense as yesterday.  I had bacon and biscuits on the dining car before sending it on to "Points East".  TBIL after soccer scrimmage tonight.  I hope everyone has a good day (especially those under the snow).  Snow basically creates a vacuum.  Not too sure how anyone can really enjoy it.  Covers up soccer fields.  Have to shovel it.  Causes wrecks.  Yea, not seeing too much upside to it.  End of rant.

Keep on training,

Good morning everyone.  Well, I am about packed up.  Have to jump in the shower and get ready for work.  Some small cases later on so I will head in shortly.  Have to drop the dog off at the vet/boarding while we are gone.  Once I am done at work, come to pick up family and head out for Nashville.  I am looking forward to getting there, but not the journey as it is supposed to be an ice storm and snow coming our way.

Watching the news right now....depressing.  Can't believe the administration wants to try these terrorists like criminals.  They deserve a spot at the end of a rope.  KSM has already admitted to his guilt before the military and then they vacate that to put on a show.  OK, rant over.

Will continue to pray for Brutus and family, Roy's sister, folks out by JON, and if anyone else has a need, I hope to check back later to add to my list.

God Bless,

Dennis

Rant away guys I'm all for it. feels good sometime just to say it. Too cold for outdoor walk so I will ride the bike awhile though I really don't think it helps much. Have a safe day...S.J.

Aloha from a sunny Chicago where it is a crisp 4 degrees or - 11 with the breeze. Ah well. Hope the sun sticks around - supposed to get even colder later this week. Nice to see a solid Illinois company like Walgreens is bringing its largesse to Rosey-ville. Finished booking flights and hotels for the bride and son - son going to Boston for his break to visit relatives and bride to go to Palm Coast FL to cheer up a friend. She would pick Race Week (near Daytona) to go. Sigh. Praying for Jon and the people of Iowa, Brutus' wife, Roy's sis and Dennis for his trip. Great ride home on the train with Brutus and Sir J! Highlight of my week. Saw the Sir Topham Hatt gateman on sale in the March CTT - need that!

Morning.  Will go to the lake soon.  Might hit the gym first.  Suppose to be 59 tomorrow.  Then hit cold Friday with snohio Friday night and Saturday.   Fish one day and freeze the next. Sigh

Bob, I know this is the way you do it but, I use to raise the car a little bit, roll a pallet with wheels under the car, lower car so motor was on pallet, do final disconnecting of motor, raise car and roll pallet with motor from under car.  Then hook up a battery and a fuel line from a gas can.  Then crank motor on pallet.   Really did not remove much from motor until it was on pallet.  Restored a lot of Corvairs in my "younger" years.  Are you doing a truck?  Never did one of those.

Mike C, paint the ball black and go for it. Whistling

 Morning All !!

Bob, looking forward to pictures!  9 feet, WOW !!!  (Latest storm was a small one not so bad.)

Laz, Yep that's the engine he has.  I believe it is the one with the moving bell, whistle smoking whistle, etc..  Will have to do some pictures.

Regarding the 13 year old, he is something else.  They are not allowed to do any type of corporal punishment because of Social Services.  The boy was adopted, and I don't know how long they have had him.  But he really does have some issues.  He will just intentionally break stuff according the Bob,  I have seen the kid talk back to both the mom and dad, and its pretty brutal.  Bob told me that the boy is in therapy now for anger management.  Really an unfortunate situation!  The problem doesn't seem to be physiological, if Social Services would let parents be parents, I would think the issue could be resolved, for a Win Win situation.  When I have seen the boy, he seems to really just want attention.  But, always easy on the outside looking in.  (They also have a 17 yr old girl that just went through family therapy due to a suicide attempt.)

Hope everyone has a great day, off to sell some ink.

Don, we read and looked into the psychological end of things with regard to the adoption of our daughter.  One thing they mention about adoptive children is that they can have different levels of attachment disorder.  Depending on what the child has been exposed to before adoption, there can be a number of issues.  Learning about these early on and being able to adapt your responses to the child can be critical to fostering a rewarding relationship between the child and the rest of the family.  Some methods of "Bonding" need to be incorporated into the family lifestyle.  I wish them well.  For us, it has just been a matter of reinforcing our daughter with love.  Letting her know that while her mother had to give her up, she is our daughter and we are so blessed to have her in this family.

Doug, really appreciate the prayers.  We are heading towards some snow and ice.  It is about a 7 hour drive.  Have to put Rain-X on the windshield and bring the jump starter...just in case.

God BLess,
Dennis

Dennis ... I know you may already use it but windshield washer fluid wih deicer is invaluable also .... and remember to check and keep your headlights and tailights cleared at stops .   Please be careful buddy . It's a nightmare driving in those conditions .

The crane arrived today ... am going all over it and changing a mount on the cable roller .... also installing heavier cord/string .  One small piece loose .... removed and reglued it . Otherwise she's a beaut ! The wheels don't have any run marks whatsoever ... the previous owner must have used it for display all it's life .... put her on the track and she runs smooth . Darned if it does'nt look fabulous behind that Shay .... it's remarkably heavy for it's size .... has alot of metal detailing ... surprised me .

Heading for the Tardis ... come join us guys ... !
