Dear Iowa Johnny,

I looked out the window this morning and there was no snow on the ground and the sun was shinning.  Obviously I knew I wasn't in Iowa.  It was 78 degrees.  I went outside and did not wear my stocking hat, fleece vest, flannel shirt, long sleeve t-shirt, snow pants, snow jacket, gloves and my artic pac boots.  My car is not covered in salt brine and mud.  I did not slip on three inches of ice in the parking lot.  Have you ever seen a lake or a pond without the hard water cover?

I knew I was not that good last year and I knew the Chief has connections to the man upstairs, but I don't believe I deserved to be sent to purgatory for my sins. Please come and rescue me ASAP.

Papadiesel........Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up and congratulations on the birth of a hale and hearty Madison Michelle, grandchild #8.  The miracle of birth is just that, a miracle.  No guarantees.

Hope all is going well for Mom and baby and that they can go home in a few days.  There wasn't any Grandpa influence in the selection of Madison's name, was there?  If not,  then I read her naming as a divine mandate for you to go out and buy some train cars by the same name.  Big Smile

Afternoon all.  Man, my day has been screwed up.  Before finishing my sceond cup of coffee, Grady [neighbor] came up wanting to trim some trees/shrubs.  Had to go get chain saw and then get truck out for the limbs.  Hauled two loads to the pond.  By the time we finished, shirt sleve weather.  Yes, from frost to greenhouse exhaust fan running almost constantly [set on 90 degrees].  Guess the Yankee cold has retreated north.  Now to shower and shave.  Wifey coming home at 3 to go to movie at 4.  Sent Direct TV a full write up of all the bad experiences from taking original order, thru the miss-billing, original install delayed two times by installer, charging me for equipment that was already there and working, rude reps and so on until now.  All they want to concentrate on is this one missed install.  Been sent to a senior customer rep.  Chat later.

Good afternoon all,

Congrats, Papadiesel.  Dennis W., forget the personal trainer, just kick the soccer ball with the kids.  Much more fun.  Interesting the lack of commentary here on the possible Lionel Marklin buyout. Of course not much to say until deal becomes final.  Hmmm....if Chief is guarding the right flank and Dennis the left, who is watching Atlanta??   I have strategically placed a Yankee lass there to keep the door open for us....he, he, he.  I hope everyone has a good day.

 Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Good almost afternoon everyone.  Big prayers lifted for Mrs.Brutus, and the rest of the family.  We can only imagine the thoughts they are thinking and the experience they are going through.

Only one big case for today and since I am on call, I am going in shortly.  Doing a little research for the next movie project.  Wife has a load of "honey-dos" for me to get to.  Will have to wait till after work to handle those.  With any luck, I'll get home early enough to get most of it done.

Chief, we have the left flank covered for any northern invasions.  According to the weather folks, we are in the process of repelling the last Yankee invasion and should hit the 50s today.  We have a full gym at the hospital and today I am signed up to do the personal training thing.  Time to get this carcass in shape....I know, round is a shape, but that is not the one I want.

HOpe it is a good day for everyone.
God Bless,
Dennis

Good mornin', Ya'll, From Overcast Taxachusetts,

Today is day nine of what seemed to start out as a common cold.  I've been dragging, no fever.  It occured to me yesterday that body aches, a headache, eye socket pressure, clogged ears, and vertigo were more than head cold symptoms.  To avoid one of those middle of the night emergency room visits where you plunk down 100 bucks and then wait for 4 hours to be seen, I elected to schedule something at the Doctor's office instead and lucked out....an opening!  Sinusitis.  They took a chest xray to rule out pneumonia too and started me out on antibiotics which can only be described as horse pills.  Getting them down whole was problematic for me.  May chop them in half going forward.

Dish-DirecTV-Fio-Comcast.....glad to hear that no matter whom we select the problems remain and only by the grace of God do things work out on the front end, and then stay that way.

RaySP.....10 inches of rain?!?  I have visions of flooding and toy train damage.

SJ/Charlie.......nice score on the Milwaukee Road GP7s.  Even better, the two of you get to get together and play with them.

Chuck......solution to no beer fridge down in the train room......a cooler.

Dennis.......with your FasTrack, do you run power to a terminal section at the farther out parts of the layout or do you just wedge wire into a straight section where needed?

CNW......son passes math.  YESSSSS!  If you didn't already tip a few in celebration, you must stop, smell the roses, and then do so.

So DougDG, RaySP, and Don......don't forget to take pictures and post them from your day out surfing.

RT......congrats on 4000 posts.  Only 7000 behind Chief.

Hope Rich's job interview went well.

Don......I also took a photography class.  Nikon sponsored.  Immediate and dramatic improvement in my photography skills.  Then everyone noticed I was the go-to guy when it came time to take pictures.  That is a two edged sword because others always asked me to be the one to bring a camera and to take pictures at events.  The class is really worth it as you will find.  And the Adobe Photoshop software helps make your shots look a cut above the rest to other people even though you know the original wasn't so hot!

Chief....if you do have to contact the AG's office about the satellite TV issues, make sure you don't tell them you know any of us.  It has taken years for us to establish these new identities and find some peace.

Have a good day everyone.

Jack

DON .... great idea on that class ... have been playing with the new digital slr and son has been teaching me but I may have to enroll in a class here .... plus he said they go on photo excursions and have a club . He told me to stop wasteing the camera's ability ... LOL .

Old Timer, I have taken one before a few years ago.  It was really great, a fun subject, learned a lot, plus a great opportunity to add some variance to the day.  Meet some nice people also..  Win, win, all the way around.  Couldn't recommend it high enough.  Especially if there is a community college in your area, and the weather doesn't prevent the travel.

Can't believe I forgot to share how long I ran trains last night all smoothly, lots of Thomas 'horn' blowing (they don't sound like whistles) and I finished the new face for the 520. I'll try to remember to post it under Photo Fun for this weekend.

Good Morning

It was 35 degrees this morning. What a suprise. I can see the grass again but there is still Some snow.

Chief, thats what kids are for, to help us old folk. Of course my boys only stop by when they are invited to dinner. Seem like thats when they remember where we live. Had a fun time with Charlie last nite we ran out of time way too soon. Everyone have a great weekend.

Aloha - grey and 25 - feels sweltering. Going to try to visit the Shedd Aquarium at lunch today. Prayers joined for Mrs. Brutus. Glad the Lion arrived too. Beautiful MILW Geeps. I'd like to see that bobber caboose too. I like them. TGIF. Now have to research the Magilla Gorilla cartoon theme song. Can't remember the second verse.

Good morning all,

It is warmer in SE Indiana with temps in the 40s.  Played family game with "saucy wench" last night and then got a hair cut.  More prayers for Brutus and family.  Patrick and I will be more than happy to split driving chores on Tardis.  Guys, get those beacons lit and I will be by after "Numb3rs" tonight.  Don B., still shaking my head over tire inflation rules.  Glad I am not there (no offense intended).  Long day at work ahead.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a mild 40 degrees. Going down to 38 today ( ?? ), with cloudy skies.

Today, is busy this morning. I have some errands to run. Feels good to get out and about again. Gotta take it slow. That's not easy.  Then, I will have 2 hours of " Train Therapy " this afternoon.Whistling

Don Baker....You need to buy a set of solid rubber tires. It will be a cold day in hell, before I pay someone to put air in my tires.

Dining car just rolled in and had a big choice for breakfast. We have Cheerios and blueberry muffins ( naturally ) and some fresh pastries to choose from.

Buckeye...We heard from him last night. He has gone south for a special mission. Deep south. Be careful. Those Suthern people are nasty.

TGIF

Y'all have a great Friday.

Cloudy and high 30's again today.  Some grass has reappeared in the yard.

Brutus - prayers for youo and your wife.

Charlie - glad to hear that you continue to improve.

DDG - I wonder who is going to dictate what the tire pressure should be - CARB or the manufacturer who has spent countless hours of testing and development to make the vehicle ride and handle properly.  Then there are people like me, who do things like put big fat 60 series tires on '78 Aspens.  I'm sure that would be found illegal somehow.

Got my 666 back together and ran it some tonight.  Good smoker, and had it pulling 12 box cars and a caboose.  That is about all it wanted.  Had to throttle jocky it to lift the train with minimal wheel spin.

Later, all.
