dbaker48 More crazy stuff going on here! Calif Air Resources Board have decided that to comply with Green House objectives, tire inflation will play an important part. The program says that when you go to a service station or repair facility, the facility MUST check your tire pressure and adjust it. IF they offer to do it free you CANNOT deny the service. IF they require a service charge, you must either pay it, OR provide a written statement or verification that the inflation was correct. This verification must be by an independent 3rd party. If you don't pay, and decline the service and can't prove compliance within the past 30 days. You are determined to be "uncooperative" and subject to $1,000 fine or 6 months. Don, That's why so many small company's are either closing their doors or moving out of state. Between the outrageous taxes and the stifling regulations it's not surprising the state is on the verge of bankruptcy.
Sorry bout the rant.

Charlie, SJ,
I have the 1997 issue of the 2338, but that new version looks so much nicer. The 1997 issue had plastic sideframes, and the die cast ones on the new 2338 look like a huge improvement. I am starting to regret buying that foosball table earlier this week a little. Did you shoot any video?
Chief,
You should ask Brent about Direct TV. We have had Dish since 2000, and have never had any complaints. Their customer service is top notch.
Brent,
I almost joined you regarding injuries while working around the house the other day. I was using the ice chopper to remove ice from the driveway, and I wasn't paying too much attention. The next thing that I notice is that the blade is right against the tip of my left shoe. If it landed any further back, it would have been ugly. I will be sending you an email regarding my trip to Best Buy.
Not much going on today. I spent the morning and afternoon fixing the wheels on my 342AC as well as giving it a general tuneup. I probably should wash the boiler and tender shell to remove the dirt, but I am afraid of hurting the lettering. I need to go to the PO tomorrow to get some boxes so that I can store some of the items from the Christmas layout.

Charlie, so good of you to go help that old man run his trains. Poor thing would not have any fun if not for you.
Pat, no worry. Last time I was in Columbus, Buckeye and I had lunch together. I slipped a microchip in his tea glass. When swallowed, it will stay in his system. We track everywhere he goes.
CA Air Board is after Shake and Bake. He has been emitting some bad fumes. Kaye and Chris are continously having to run out of the house.
Long day but a warm one. Warmer tomorrow. Pond ice thawing fast. Beavers try at building is gone again. Now off to bed.
Brutus, prayers for the wife but all will be OK. God bless.
Good night all.
PS: got nice email from Direct TV. Sent them a reply detailing all the problems I have had with them since 16 months ago. Then got email saying that they were sorry. That any past problems and the install screw up was no reason to cancel my contract. That they required 12 to 24 months and they are saying I have 2 more months left [could charge me $20 per month for two months]. Replied that their reps have been saying my contract was up and they could take their serivce and cram it. Also told them I was contacting my AG's office. No reply so far but I expect a nasty one. Real pieces of work.

Nice visit tonight with SJ. Good friends and good conversation. SJ liked the new Lionel CC 2338 so well, I decided to get one too. Here he is with both Geeps, also pictured are his NYC F3's
Brutus- My heartfelt prayers for your wife, you and your entire family. Your faith will see you through!

We were closed due to some light snow when I came on shift, but now we are open for business. Sounds like we have a pretty good snow storm coming early next week though.
Doug M. - glad the book made ok. Hope to hear more educational success stories about your son!
SJ - thanks for the tip on the electronic e-unit (would that be ee-unit?) in another thread. I looked up Dallee Electronics. Sounds like what I will need to convert the new trolley to standard operation.
Brutus - thinking of you and the family
Engineers and programmers have all left so it's fairly quiet now. We have been playing more compressor bingo w/ the receiver we are about to put on, but what's new. Probably have some more fun early next week. Our downtown staff hates playing in the snow, but this is where the photons hit the dish.
More fun w/ electronics tonight. Gotta go, time to switch observers.

Prayers for all in need and our loved ones and friends, and especially for those poor souls in Haiti.
Tardis is gonna be late tonight and probably no fly tomorrow night unless I can get Mike or Pat to do the honors again - I think it is your turns next?
PS - Lion came today with add-on cars. I hope to get a chance to run it this weekend.
PPS - Congrats RT!
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Rt, Congratulations on your passing 4K. I am not too far behind you. Doug, congratulations on your son. Hope his academic success continues.Ah, White Castle murder burgers, we have Krystal's down here, not exactly the same, but close. When I was in NJ, one of our friends was acquitted and we went and ordered 300 to go. It was a party to remember!
Well, I have to get to complete violin lessons with the daughter. Already did so with son, but daughter was at ballet. Good night,

Whitecastles, boo-hoo-hoo, we can only get the frozen variety out here, yuck. That is unless I can sweettalk family members venturing out this way to pick-up a couple dozen on their way to the airport. They do have to pack them up in a cooler for the trip so as not to drive the other passengers crazy in the plane.
Don/Ray Have you guys been getting the big surf up your way along the coast. Tuesday they closed all the piers down this way when the breakers were hitting the bottoms of the walkways with the surf anticipated to get much higher yet.
SWMBO has been keeping me busy this week, rearange furniture, again, again, again, ................................. Maybe we can start on a second room this weekend. Thankfully tomorrow is museum day, a chance to rest.
Any of you guys have one of the MTH smoking tank cars? Any feedback on them? If it doesn't go nuts pricewise on EvilBay I think I'll pick it up. Coffee tank.

Maybe I can rent Band of Brothers. Always wanted to see it. Ambrose's book was powerful. Score, Sir J! Great pick-up of those MILW diesels. Son finished with finals. He passed math - thank you God! You've all made me hungry and White Castle is just 5 minutes away. I'm going to rent some sliders on your behalfs. . On a more serious note, looks like we're sending a team to Haiti.

IF IT WON'T COME LOOSE BY TAPPING ON IT, DON'T TRY TO FORCE IT. USE A BIGGER HAMMER.
ChiefEaglesBTW: Direct TV just lost a customer and Dish Network gained one
I don't have either of those (just cable) but I identify with the nightmare trouble you had with installers. Mine was between AT&T and Verizon trying to combine TV, internet and telephone. Verizon killed one of my phone lines and it took me three weeks to get it back.
Morning all, not much action here today but nice weather. They are predicting big time rains though starting Sunday night for several days. I'm afraid the burned areas will get slides this time. Prediction is for up to 10 inches of rain over three days for the footlhills where I live. Fortunately we don't have any burned area above us.
Will try to run some trains today before the weather gets bad for going out to the garage.
Later, Ray

I took a trip to the train store this morning, picked up two Lionel Classic GP7 milwaukee road, one for me one for Charlie @ $129. each. No White Castles on that route so made it round trip ok. Sunny and middle 30s. Have a great day...S.J.
Morning all. Chuck, glad to hear you doing well. Just keep doing what you are told. Also, trains are good therapy. Brutus, Will be lifting you and your bride and the rest of your family in prayers. Going to be a time of many changes for awhile....just think about the end game.
Been watching "Band Of Brothers", up until this morning, the most impacting episode for me was when Buck Compton suffered PTS. This morning, I watched "Why We Fight". It was the first encounter for the troops with a concentration camp....upsetting to say the least.
We have seen quite an upswing in the posts and topics lately. I like it! Lots of good information being shared. Chief, I have been to more than a few prayer breakfasts. The mindset that brings us to them is great as it prepares each man for the next level. Hope you have a great time.
God Bless,Dennis
Afternoon guys
Just a quick check in during lunch.
Jim F - Going to kick the prayers up a notch!
May God bless

Aloha all from a balmy Crystal Lake where it is already up to 32 degrees - whew! Buckeye, it is 60 in Ft. Lauderdale, going up to 72 today; Looks like 76-79 this weekend but rain too. Prayers for your bride, Brutus, and for Rich's interview. Bob, the book on small gas engines arrived just in time. My son loves it! What a great gift - just in time for his motor class starts Monday.Looks like we may get some melt today. Hope I can get into the train room later.
Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a clear 17 degrees, Going up to 41 today with sunshine, I gotta see this, to believe it.
Today, I am taking it easy. I have a few chores to do this morning and then, I will spend the afternoon in the train room. The Doctor says that I have to run trains every day.
I have cable TV, phones, Internet, boom box, and coffee maker in the train room. Also, TRAINS, of course. But NO beer cooler. Gasp !!!
Dining car rolled in from " Points West" with a good breakfast.
Where is Buckeye ?????
Y'all have a great Thursday,
Good morning all,
It is slightly warmer in SE Indiana with temps to be in the 40s today. Went to soccer scrimmage last night and had fun. TBIL anytime tonight. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Brutus......you have my continued prayers for your wife and for your family.
We still are not totally out of the cold snap here. Tuesday night bottomed out at 11 and we hit a high of 28 yesterday. It was 12 overnight, but the temps have already hit 20 and are forecast to hit freezing today, 40 tomorrow. Seem to be getting help from you guys points West.
I got my heating oil tank filled December 20 and have not glanced at the gauge to see what the damage has been since then. But a buddy of mine called yesterday to tell me he called his heating oil company for a price check. His company's prices have jumped $.30 per gallon in just the past 3 weeks and are expected to continue to rise into the Spring due to the increased demand caused by the frigid temperatures throughout the country. I may get my tank topped off to mitigate the rising prices. Gasoline prices here are following suit.
Chuck.....you do have a beer fridge in your train room, don't you? Glad to hear your Doc check went well and trains are in your forecast.
Time for a coffee refill. Hope everyone has a good day.
Jack
ChiefEagles. Talked to the nicest folks at Dish. No install and half price service for a year. DVR free and only one box covers two TV's. Yes, and both have free HD and DVR from one box. Get more channels too. Sleep tight.

Sleep tight.
The folks at DISH are nice. You can hook as many TV's to one box as you need. We have six TV's hooked up to two boxes. Need one more in the Outhouse.
Did you notice Buckeye let it slip he is heading South? We will be ready!
Off to buy a 7" TV at Target for the Drive-In Movie on the layout.

RFD-TV --- Rural America's most important network!
Up too early. Off to prayer breakfast in neighboring town. Then meeting. Warmer today. Maybe 50's. Have a good one.
Brutus,
Prayers for you and your wife. We have a woman in our congregation who went through this, and two years later she's feeling great, and back teaching High School!
By the way: 25' pipe snakes are $22 at Lowes. I had to get one myself last week!
