Dennis,

            Happy B-Day

Bob,

I'll let you know my decision asap.

Brutus,

            I hope everything goes well.

I am feeling a bit left out because I never got a call from Chief.Smile,Wink, & Grin  We need to send all of this snow and ice down South.  I went to Best Buy yesterday to spend a gift card that I had gotten for Christmas.  They had a very good deal on a 4GB Class 10 SDHC card, so I ended up getting that.  I was having a tough time deciding between that or the third season of Adam 12 on DVD.

I was going to make a video of the 342ACs, but both of them gave me trouble. My dad's decided to throw a siderod screw, and mine had both tires on the rear drivers separate from the whitewalls.Banged Head I made a video of the 2020 that I upgraded instead, and it didn't give me any trouble.

Good Morning,

Trying to warm up from the mini artic blast that south Florida got this past week or so. Orange juice prices will go up for a little, due to severe crop damage, strawberries going up as well for same reason, possible other crops damaged as well. So you people up north can just keep your cold weather as Florida sure don't need it, also tourism industry hurting as well from the cold. The only good so far is that it makes it easier to track down python snakes that people have dumped out down here.

It may warm up thursday to almost regular temps for this area, then I can turn off my heater!

Only working part time and work keeps calling me for some crazy shifts, I live near West Palm Beach and they want me to go up to Orlando to work for an 8 hour shift and won't pay for gas, so I turned them down.

Maybe I can sell some scrap metal and wire later today for some pocket money and gas money too.

Good Afternoon all

Just a quick check in during lunch.  Cold and Snowy out but to warm up to the mid-30's in the next couple of days.  Maybe start taking down the outside decorations after the thaw.

Jim - Try a little crazy glue between the insulator and the driver wheel.  Use a straight pin to give you some room and then a drop at each quarter, press back into place and you are good to go.

Got to go!  May God bless

Jim,

Thanks for the tip.  I am going to take it apart because it isn't puffing as good as my dad's, so I'll fix the wheels at the same time.  It was running good, then it just slid off during a turn as the rims came off the insulators.  At least it isn't serious.

Sorry.....just read your other thread about swapping out the bulb with an element and blower.  With all of that smoke I was worried your engine was on fire in that video.  Big Smile

Good Evening

A bright sunny day at 26 degrees. no snow melt except on pavement. That is clear.

My friend died of P-moan-ya sh$$ I can't spell it. Where is Doug M. when I need him. Anyway I'm guessing his immune system was weak from the cancer treatment and december weather done him in. Not much else today, granny had a stress test this morning, no results for a few days  but the doc watching her said she was doing good. Banilla is ready and a pumpkin pie is in the oven so Brutus swing on by in the thingy...S.J.

Sounds good to me, Jim!

Great video Jim!

Mrs. Brutus goes in on Friday (not sure of the time) and will be in for about a week prior to the transplant.  Chemo will kill off her bone marrow and suppress her immune system.  Her sister is coming Sunday with their Dad and they will stay at the Hope House near the hospital while the sister gets her medicine to increase bone marrow production.  Then, after the transplant (day zero), my wife will be in the hospital for about another 2 to 3 weeks if there are no complications or infections.  After that, she will be back home, regaining her strength.  Since a lot of her bone marrow has been replaced by scar tissue already, it will take a good long while for her body to overcome that - the doctors said that she might be back to "normal" in a year?  She will be transfusion dependent for some time still.  We hope she is back to her current level of functioning in about a month - does that sound right?

Today I took her to the hospital for lab work and we sat around for a couple hours waiting for her to be called.  Then we went to the bank to get our new wills notarized so that they would be "self proving" in court.  Bank said they can't do wills, but recommended another notary.  We put in a call for that person and in the meantime checked around for another notary.  We found some, but they couldn't help us - they only do limited work.  The one at the hospital will only notarize medical stuff and durable powers of attorney.  We finally got it done - all witnessed and signed and notarized this evening, around 5:30 at the UPS store, believe it or not.  A friend had to meet us to be our 2nd witness.  Just glad today is all over.  We had some chinese food for dinner - it was very good, but spicy!

Still no Lion on the doorstep, but it will get here eventually I'm sure.

TARDIS is ready and I can see all my friends are ready for another great trip!  Let's hit it guys!

You guys are too funny!  I once called Chief at what was probably 11 PM his , time.  I wasn't paying attention to the clock and there is a time difference.  I found a piece he wanted on ebay and was afraid he would not get it.  I think he did though?  Good talk, too :)

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Brutus,

My families prayers for the Mrs. I am a 6yr *** cancer survivor. Even with the chemo and radiation it sounds like a breeze than what she  will be going through. Yes guys, check your breasts. My right nipple was becoming an inny (concave). Now I can blame my crazyness and train impulse purchasing on the chemo.

Prayers for all in need !

Good evening everyone.  Quick stop over as I have to get to bed early.  Had a long day with cases and then, one of the guys I was operating with today had to pick his wife up from Same Day Surgery after we finished the case and bring her home.  I told him I'd make some stuffed shells with the old firehouse recipe for him and the kids to eat on for the next few days while his wife recovered.  They heat and eat well.  Took care of making that, and of course, my bride wanted me to make some for our house too.  They are always better the second day, so that will be tomorrow's dinner.

Jim, that was a great video.  I still have the original smoke unit in my Dad's 2020.  Puts out rings of smoke, but nothing like yours.  It used to put out a lot of smoke when I would spray WD40 down the stack, but I have since learned that was a foolish thing to do....hey, what did I know, I was a teenager.

Brutus, prayers for the bride.  Just make sure you get the kids to do a complete scrubbing down of the house for when she gets home.  Everyone gets hand sanitizer and keep a big bottle of it at the front entrance.  With her white cell count down, she will not be able to fight off anything.

Papa, my wife used to work at the *** Center at the hospital.  They would get a male in every few months who would be diagnosed with CA.  So, you are correct.  Another thing is testicular cancer.  We don't like to think about it, but something we should be on the watch for.  Also, black men face a much higher incidence of prostate cancer, and also folks with cancer in their families.  One reason to get a thorough check up with a MD each year.

Regarding nothing good coming from a late night phone call...got one this morning at 0320.  It was the hospital wanting to know if my wife would like to work today.  She already worked her day this month!  She will occasionally go in, but mostly when scheduled.  The hospitals try to run with very few extra personnel so as to keep costs down.  It will sometimes come back to bite them, but in this day, every penny counts.

Hope it is a good night for each of you.
God Bless,
Dennis

11 degrees and foggy this morning.  While I was walking from my truck into the plant, I noticed that the fog was actually ice crystals.  A friend of mine was stationed in Alaska talked about ice fog.  I hadn't seen any until today.

Wow - I've not looked at the pot for three days, and I find I'm 6 pages behind.

Dennis - happy birthday.

Brutus - I'll keep the TCA show in mind, and wait until we are closer to that weekend before planning a trip.  Also, my sister had a similar chemo/marrow transplant.  Cleanliness will be very important - this even extended to food of her.  Fresh fruits and vegetables were forbidden, on the off chancce that some germ or bacteria would be eaten with the food.  We'll keep you guys in our prayers.

My Marx 666 E-bay refugee arrived yesterday.  Good paint, fairly clean, runs quietly, but no smoke or headlight.  Also might have some e-unit problems, as it runs OK by itself, but heats up and gets flakey when pulling three 40 ton stock cars, a reefer, a box car and a caboose.  While I've got it open for the headlight and smoke unit, I'll check the e-unit and get a good visual inspection fo the armiture and field windings.

About all for now.

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps finally getting above freezing.  Brutus, intense prayers headed out your way for you, your wife, and your family from "Points East".  Dennis W. has good observations on the C-word.  Worked on the 8E and 10E last night on my "test" layout.  I have a small standard gauge layout that I use to try out ideas and improvements.  TBIL after soccer scrimmage with high school kids.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Aloha. Sunny but 15 still - 9 with the 'breeze' - supposed to warm up but who knows - good 'ride' home after class with Sir J, Charlie, Brutus and RT late last eve. I appreciated this morn's commute around that long curve with the skyline in the background outside the Northwestern station - so many passenger trains have 'posed' on that same curve over the years. Miss the semaphores that used to be there. Prayers for Mrs. Brutus!

Morning all.  Getting ready to go in.  Two hearts on and the second just got on the table.  I am on call, so that kind of ruins any plans, just have to do what I can, when I can.  Got a interesting book in from Amazon on "Special Effects" in the movies.  Have to use some information for the next project.  Gets exciting to be a part of these events.

Laz, dog was going nuts about an hour ago.  Went to front window and a bunch of deer were just standing there.  Thought about you and how safe those deer would be.....I mean how you would surely tag one or two of them if given the chance.

Gotta run, but hope to check back later.

Dennis
PS: Doug-Not-A-Grump, saw that item went for $153.00  I wouldn't have gone that high, at least when I don't really need it.  Someday.

Good Morning

A little overcast but sun is expected. Above 32 for the day time highs, maybe next six days. Thats great BUT it ain't over by a long shot. I'll take it though.

Just home from the doc. office, everything he checked today is A-OK. I think home is where I will spend the rest of today though.  As usual when I come home from there the truck turns right into the White Castle drive through. Have a good Hump day...S.J.

Good morning all,

Prayers for Mrs. Brutus

Laz, I don't get any late night calls from Chief.  Maybe I should'nt complain. P.S. All the deer are at Dennis' house.

Went to TTOS train meet last Sunday.  Not much action, at least for me.

Got just enough rain this morning to wet the ground.  At least I won't have to water the lawn today.

Got swine flu shot yesterday.  Now I guess it is safe to eat all the pork bar-b-que I want.

Later, Ray

SJ,

Both of my cars do the same thing with Best Buy.Wink  That can be a bit rough on the wallet.

I talked with PhillyDuke this mornoing concerning his 2020, and now I am in the process of cleaning the game room.  After leaving Best Buy on Monday, I went to Dunham's in search of replacement pucks for the air hockey table.  While I was there, I noticed that they had a great deal on a Sportcraft Medford foosball table, so I need to make some space for it now.Big Smile  The game room has been a mess since the basement floor was torn up last March, but until now I haven't had the motivation to clean it up.

Hello all,

We’re a talkative bunch lately. I get almost caught up and next time I stop in I’m 6 or 8 pages behind.

The economy caught up to my family. My son went to work Thursday night (he works night shift) and was told he no longer has a job. Semi-permanent layoff. The good thing is he will be able to make his payments on his un-employment check. He has applied for a lesser paying job with the same company.
I think he will be OK. He was 6 or 7 years old before I worked a full year without a layoff. He remembers how things were done.

Brutus Congratulations on progress and  continued prayers.

Condolences on the loss of your friend, Sir J.
