Good evening everyone. Just got back from evening church. All I can say is WOW! The missionary I spoke of earlier hit it out of the park tonight. He was talking about acting one way on Sunday and living your life another way the rest of the week. Also, about sharing your faith. He showed a short video of the area he preaches at in Brazil. While they were having services, you hear gunfire and two people get shot just outside the church. The drug lords run the areas down there and turf wars are commonplace. I didn't hear too much of the service as I wear a headphone and mostly hear the director while I am on camera. Anyway, at one point, he tells how his baby son died. Just he and his wife were there, and he said a prayer and then carried his son up the hill and buried him. After hearing his talk, I must admit, we have no problems....at least none worth worrying over.
On a more uplifting note, my kids are planning a birthday party for me. They plan on baking me a cake in a "Easy Bake Oven". This should be a hoot! While the ingredients may be lacking, I am sure it will be the best cake I have ever had. Looking forward to it. I really do have some good kids...we are blessed! Hope everyone is blessed in the week ahead.

Evening, Guys
Got to a blistering 40 today, I'm sure Lee in So. Fl got to at least 50. Will be in the teens later.
Ray- for you & your wife's family.
Spent most of the day in the train room, cleaning and adding two more buildings. Fife, I'm staying out of the war of Southern Aggression. I'm just a lost Yankee Spy....
Leave for NJ on Friday, interview for job up there on Monday. Same company, hopefully more $$$ for same job here. Got a glowing review last week, so that should help. Anxious to see my fellow firefighters on our 175th Anniversary. I might have to make an appearance if they have a parade in October!!!
Not much else going on, went to Deland for the train show, only spent $17 (not including the $18 for me and the 2 kids).
Stay warm, check ya 2morrow.
to Dennis, from 1 fireman to another (a day early!!)
I am the monster in your head...And I thought you'd learn by now, It seems you haven't yet.I am the venom in your skin --- Breaking Benjamin
Good Evening
Brutus message received. Good Boy, you may have a milk bone. Just one though.
TTOS show was a bust for me, nothing purchased but did do some visiting. Sun all day and in the 20s, roads are clear but no snow melted. Banilla ready for the thingy, beacon on.

Evening All !! Had a good day today, somethings went my way. Not an extremely profitable one, but still a good day. BTW, Brutus I always think of it just after I log off, but please, please keep us posted on the situation with your wife. Your posts are ALWAYS on of the highlights I look for to see how things are going. It has been such a long ordeal, I just don't know how the 2 of you have managed. My prayers and thoughts are certainly with you!!
Buckeye since "someone" thinks we have concerns, I thought its about time we resolve the issues, and I have a plan. (I am so surprised he thinks WE are the ones with the concern, obviously he must NOT recall, the Expose I did on Roseyville a couple of years ago, or the mass application of his avatar. Not to mention the Silent Auction that Lucy conducted awhile back!) Anyway here is my plan;
Since he lives below the MD Line it won't take much to convince him that the electrical system and distribution network is different there, than the rest of the country. Remember the TVA project? So since he now has over 23 engines, simple, we start off with the following;
- As everyone knows 23 engines will require a lot of power, even when they are idle. It would of course be due to the overall "voltage potential" that they would represent !
- Since the voltage potential is higher, then he would need to cut back on some of the "other" voltage applications. First of course is the EXCESSIVE voltage drops caused by the "over rated" fuses on his layout. I can convince him to exchange all the 10amp fuses for 3 amp fuses. This would be easiest done by using Ohm's Law. I would explain how the Power Formula works, and then work him up through basic formula for determining current flow. Explaining of course the lower the current rating the higher the voltage availability.
- Then when the fuses start to blow, I will have him change the polarity of the fuses, and if that doesn't work have him reverse the ends of the wires. Again, due to the TVA and that most of the generators there are running counter-clockwise as opposed to clockwise.
- Then I will inform him that in order to get his layout working correctly he will have to reorient the layout to conform to the TVA standards. Which would require lifting all the track and switching the sections 180 degrees, to confirm to the "revised" current flow, and reversed polarity.
- The only other option would be to Reduce the number of engines on the layout.
As a result I'm sure he will want to reduce the engine count. Would have him send the TMCC engines to you, the DCS to me, (I would take a couple at least over to Ray.) If there are any Trolleys up to Doug, (I don't think their are any, Roseville was still use carts the last I knew.) Then all the excessive bull in the area to both Pat and Jon, since they both have farms, and can just spread it around. Jon would be happy to have the John Deere stuff, and not sure what Pat would use, maybe the Southern rolling stock? Would have to check with RT, Dennis, Chuck, Brutus, Laz (probably shell casings), and go on from there. What do you think.
So just let me know Buckeye, and we will get it going. (Oh BTW, its getting to be that time of the year again, we need to do some planning..........get the hint?)

Great minds think alike!!!! As part of the pre-planning process I am making a short raid into the South this next weekend. Of course, I will be away from the cold and drifting snow, and will most likely need to wear suntan lotion, but it is another dirty job and someone's got to do it.
Anybody know of any great train stores in Fort Lauderdale area???

Awww geezzz.... it's cold enough that the batteries died in my outside temperature transponders, and the furnace/hot-water heater died sometime in the night. It's now 57 inside and dropping fast. Better call the gas company!

HI GUYZ,
Its 15 and cold to get to 30? Oh well another week with the kidos. 97 days to go!!!!
DENNIS!!! and many more! Have fun today and make time to run some trains.
Stay frosty,
Good morning all,
It is cloudy with a chance of Snohio today, but it may get above freezing later on this week. Happy birthday, Dennis! Good point you made about the speaker from Brazil. I need to remember that before making disparaging comments about a referee during a game. The "saucy wench" and I played some family games and then watched "Desperate Housewives" last night. Although some of the story lines are highly improbable, some deal with some reaslistic and highly gut wrenching stories (coping with loss of a child). I had the regular fare on the dining car before sending it on to "Points East". TBIL after the YMCA tonight. I hope everyone has a good day. Prayers going out to all who need them.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Morning guys. Early in today as I am not on call as of 0700. At least for the next two days...Wed. I go back on call as had to swap around a bit because I have a meeting to go to the end of the month in Nashville. Anyone known of a good train store near Nashville, TN?
Buckeye, with regard to Ft Lauderdale, I don't think of any good stores there. Orlando has Colonial Photo and Hobby. It has a good amount of stuff, but everything is high dollar...no deals to be made. Miami has Ready To Roll which is mostly MTH. Miami is not too far away, so that may be an afternoon trip for you.
No great plans for the day. Should be done here around 11am and then home for a little quiet time before we pick up the kids. With any luck, should get some train time in. I found a place to put the Hobo campfire from Lionel. Going to make a camp there and scenic that area. Then onto the next piece. Going to have dinner with some friends tonight at my favorite steak place.
May everyone's day be a bit warmer...it is 17 degrees right now...I think Kevin in Alaska forgot to shut the door.
God Bless,Dennis
Mornin' Fellas. Dennis!
Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a cool 14 degrees. A little snow is due today. I'm staying inside.
Today is an easy day. I have a few things to do and then, I will relax in the train room. Not much else new.
Dennis...Happy Birthday
Dining car was just here and we had the usual for breakfast. Then, it was off to " Points west ".
Y'all have a great Monday.
Chuck
Good Morning,
South Florida is having ice box temps! It has been near 30 a few times in the past 12 days. Get your fresh frozen orange juice straight from the trees and skip the grocery stores!! Orange and other citris crops are in bad shape due to extremely low temps here in south Florida, also strawberries may be in bad shape as north Florida where most are grown have really been hit hard by a few days of frost. Might get up to 50 today and 35 overnight before warming up a little. Also electric service has been out for a few places as demand is too high for utility company to provide.
I have the electric heating turned on, have heating coils with my AC unit. Thinking about installing a fireplace to take some of the chill off in the house, but I may be wasting my money as south Florida normally doesn't get this cold for this long!!! Have several outside plants in the house to avoid freezing temps.
Went up to check on cat upstairs and he was near the vent for the heater, the vent is near the balcony or landing on the second floor, how he got up there I don't understand but he is a young cat so that may explain his jumping ability, also I have a ladder standing up near the corner where the balcony is and have a few lower steps blocked off on the ladder, now blocking almost all steps. The cat's name is Smokey or a.k.a. Kung Fu Kitty as he is very friskey.
Work on the outside lighting project put on hold until temps get over 55 during the day. I have a slight cold and have been taking some cough medicine, have not gone to doctor as yet.
My electric bill for December came down a good bit, only about $60.00, FPL had a fuel rebate give back in the December bill so that is way it was so low. January bill may be near $150.00 with the heat running so much, have temp set at 69.
Hoping to go to Disney World in Orlando this saturday, wife's cousin is getting a place to stay and we just have to pay for entance to Disney and our food.

That sounds as complicated as some of the answers that our buddy Bob Nelson posts.
Morning from Town Hall. Hope all have not frozen up. Kool, does not sound good up there at all. Good luck on the heat thing. Pond frozen all the way to the creek. Geese gone as no where to swim. Beavers had made another feable attempt to build but now is over the spillway. Lucy at the groomers and I am at Town Hall. Now to the gym after a short visit back to the house. Chat later.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DENNIS. The great protector of the South. Faithful grits eater.

He's probably gonna continue to be a jumper. 'Spring'--the fellow in my avatar--is about 10yr old and still jumps everywhere----even on top of doors
Good Morning
Welp---we here in the ice box are seeing those temps come up a tad---but we are now damp, raw winds, and dull dull dull---
Off and running around today---gotta bunch of stuff to do downtown and a visit to the LHS might be in the cards ----maybe----if'n there is enough time

Good Mornin', Ya'll, from Thawing Out Taxachusetts,
Ray, you have my condolences and prayers over the passing of your brother-in-law. Do the best you can and stay strong for your wife. SJ, the same to you over the loss of your friend, though I can't find your original post.. And Dennis, over the passing of your friend’s Mom.
Brutus……I hope this weekend was special for you and your bride. It has been a long and frustrating battle with the “system” for your family, battling beauracracies and protocols. You know you will have the continued positive thoughts and prayers of each of us in the coming weeks and months. As one poster put it, I look for your posts as soon as I sign on.
MikeC……glad to hear Lucas is still cranking at school. You and your wife must be proud. I remember your angst when posting when he was still in HS. On an unrelated note, you are going to have to quit telling the rest of us about your days, but just the parts where you shovel snow, then hit the Y to do weights, some work on the treadmill, and then put in an hour of soccer practice. It tires me out just reading it. I suppose your approach does have it's advantages. At least you do your stuff indoors in the winter while Laz puts himself through similar tortuous routines in single digit temperatures. Ya gotta feel bad for Laz' dog who gets dragged along on some of his frigid arctic runs.
Gotta run.
Jack

Holy format problem.....none of my paragraph breaks are working despite my attempts to fix them. Sorry guyz! Jack.
Has anyone ever been to The World's Greatest Train Show?http://www.wghshow.com/It will be back in the area in a couple weeks and I'm thinking of going... is it worth it? I would have to drive 1.5 hours to attend...
Dennis .... ..... and many more birthdays to come ! Remember we get like fine wine ... better with age ..... at least that's what I tell my wife ..... but I don't think she believes it .... .
FINALLY won an auction on Ebay .... maybe my luck there will change .... getting harder everyday to get a bargain there ... GEEEEZ !
Nice chat with RT = CHARLIE = SJ = and my buddy BRUTUS on the tardis last night .
Brent .... I've never been ... but it looks like a fabulous show ! Even alot more than York maybe .... especially if you exclude the junk and overpriced sellers there . Great stuff for kids too .
Good Morning !
Only an inch of beautiful white snow this morning. Probably be able to use the leafblower. Can you tell at 66 I am lucky to have only a few aches.
SirJames: Missed you again at the TTOS show. When I arrived (1400) they were packing up. Did get to converse with Bob and some vendors. Maybee next month.
Thursday my daughter in law is scheuled to have a C-section. Don't know the sex. They already have a son and daughter. Keep them in your prayers. As for grandchildren, instead of MAGNIFICANT SEVEN there will be CRAZY EIGHT.
Prayers for all ! Espicially the lonley, depressed and those in harms way.
Yep snow on the roads this morning, had to drive granny to the doc for an ultrasound. Roads were not clear but drivable. No other plans for today......S.J.
Good morning all, good weather still holding up but showers predicted for Wednesday.
Happy Birthday Dennis
Put my new model palm trees on the layout yesterday and they look real good. Gives the depot that California flavor.
Thinking about selling some of my MTH passenger cars if I can find a buyer. I have the Premier MTH seven car Seaboard set of the citrus roof color with brown and orange trim on the sides. Cars are in excellent condition in original box. I have the A-B-A E8 diesels too but will keep them. I'm just running out of room and need to clear some stuff out.
That cold weather in Florida reminds me of a fishing trip I went on with my brother from Virginia a few years ago in February or March. We towed a boat all the way down from Virginia but the weather turned bad and we never got the boat in the water the whole trip. Stayed there for 5 days and went site seeing instead. We stayed at a fishing camp with cabins. They had portable electric heaters but it was cold at night. We took an elderly friend of my brother's with us who had a lot of problems. I could go on for hours about this story but I won't bore you. Suffice it to say that I won't go there anymore. I did get to see Key West that trip for the first time so it was not a total loss.
Have a good week all,
Ray
