Chatting with RT .... waiting for the rest of the other guys on the tardis .....
Well, bride and teen are off, so youngest and I are watching Spiderman in a dark house lit just by glo-sticks I found after a refreshing repast of cheez-its, cold fries, chicken wings, and hot pockets....

Dennis ... you're completely correct ... the folks need you after the initial mourning the most .. sent you a PM .... thanks for the congrats ....
Ole Timer, congratulations on the delivery of your new "baby". Don't know what you got her for, but I could see myself jumping on one if the price is right. One reason why I enjoy steam more than the others is that you can see all the workings on the outside....shays even more so.
Did some shopping on the way home. Picked the bride up a ceramic heater as she does a lot of work on the upstairs computer. We rarely go up there, so it is kept a little cooler than the rest of the house. Also picked up a new antenna for the kitchen TV. We have Direct TV and don't get local channels. Wife wanted the kitchen TV for local news, etc. so she can get the tornado warnings and weather.
Getting ready for this coming week as we will be leaving for Nashville for a meeting. I do hope to take in some train time while I am up there. Anyone know of any great train stores up there? Also, any really good rail-fanning spots?
Ray, I know you will continue to be there for the family. While the initial few weeks are crowded with well wishers and other mourners, the tough times come a month or two after when all the people are gone. That will be when good friends are needed most.
Doug, I think my wife will enjoy the train ride/dinner trip. The line ends in Plains, GA, where Jimmy Carter lives. I am no fan of Carter's, but they do have a good amount of antique stores, etc. Also, Andersonville is near there and has lots of history to check out.
Hope everyone has a great weekend.Dennis

SP it is sad to lose a good friend and neighbor.Always recall the good memories and take solice in the fact he is now with the Lord.Sending good thoughts your way. Brutus, excellent news! Give your sister in law a hug from me! Will keep you guys in my thoughts and prayers.
Heard a truck pull up .... THE WESTSIDE SHAY was delivered ! Man pictures don't do them justice ... it's a heck of a lot more beautiful in person ..... hats off to Lionel ! About broke my neck getting down the stairs to grab it .... did'nt want the Fedex guy taking it back because no one signed .
Laz .... that was also the year Chevrolet produced and sold one of the best and coolest cars ever made .... .... I guess we got 2 gifts that year .... I still remember when my bro-inlaw ... now deceased .... bless him .... would pick me up with 2 cases of milwaukees in the cooler and go fishing ... heck we even fished until 1/2 of them were gone .... then we just cruised the river in his boat flirting with chicks in bikinis . Giving them free beer and a boat ride really paid off ... lol . Oh what good ole days .....
Had to edit .... that was BEFORE I married his sister ....
Laz.......Tuesday night wife discovered me on the Forum. Imagine that. She got a kick out of your avatar yet again. She wondered, "Why that big smile?" "Trains, Ole Mils, or a combination thereof."

Healthy, Happy New Year, ALL!
Jack, that sad story reminds me about the time it rained for the first time after moving into this house - my first basement - I had told the home inspector I thought the sump was dead cause it won't kick off no matter what I tried to prime into the well. Naw, you're fine I was told. First rain, I watched the water fill up and start to seep out of the hole. Then the rain stopped. A miracle! I zoomed out to get a new sump and lambast the inspector. LOL. Dennis, great idea about Feb. 14. I'm sending my bride to Daytona Beach to visit a good friend for that preceding week.
Ray.....good neighbors like you are not born. They are made. Condolences and prayers for your lost friend.and neighbor.
Re the rains and the flooding, glad to hear you dodged a bullet. One of my buddies lost power in the middle of the night during a "100 year" storm a couple of years back and he woke up to a few feet of water in his basement because the sump pump stopped. Don't need to tell you what happened to some of his train stuff stored too low or his collection of irreplaceable heirloom family photos. It was sad helping him try to salvage what he could and clean up the mess.
Good morning all,
Brutus, great news on the Mrs. Prayers continue.
Thanks to all of you for the condolences on the loss of my next door neighbor. It will not be the same now for me to look over the fence and realize that he is no longer there. I am grateful though for all the good years we had as neighbors. He was one of the best.
Rain seems to be tapering off today I hope. So far I have kept the water out of my train room/garage. The house is fine and the new roof I put on last year was worth every penny this week.
Chief, watch out for that butter pecan ice cream. It's addictive.
Fife, thanks for your kind words about good neighbors.
Later,
Ray

Good afternoon all,
A quick check in during lunch. My bride and youngest daughter is driving to Washington DC for a wedding and I got the kids off to school. The other grandparents are wanting to have the kids this weekend, so I may have the house to myself. Lots of chores to catch up with!
Jim F - Continued prayers! During services this weekend I will keep you Char and the caregivers in my intentions.
May God bless
Jim
quick swing by this morning. Not much on the surgery agenda, but some background work. Then...back to the gym, but today will be running/cardio and some free weights. I am in pain from yesterday's outing, but that will subside.
Brutus, glad for the good news. As mentioned earlier, that is a great, selfless act on your sister-in-law and with the amount of pain they go through to donate, you know she loves her sister. Please know that you and the whole family will remain in our prayers as you go through this whole process.
Jack, I too get reminded about the important things. These reality checks are a great way to remind us of what our priorities should be. One that I look forward to is when my kids will come out into the den in the mornings while I have my quiet time and read the Bible. They will just curl up next to me with their head on my leg and say nothing...just smile. I thing those are my favorite times.
Well, it is Friday and I have a number of things to get done for the bride for this weekend she will be working at the hospital. Been a long time since she has worked two days in a row. I am on camera at church on Sunday too, so it will be a juggling act with the kids. I will limit train time so that I can do some honey dos and hopefully suprise SWMBO. Also, one of the orderlies at the hospital has a side job as a conductor for a local short line on the weekends. The weekend of Valentine's day, they are having a special dinner/train ride for couples. May suprise the bride...now I just have to make child care arrangements.
Gotta run, but I hope that each of you finds blessings in this day.Dennis
Just a touch and go since the plate is full. Brutus......continued prayers and good thoughts for Char and ALSO her sister Diana who has selflessly given of herself to make these good things possible. Brave women. And the rest of the family and friends who are coming through in the clutch for you. Hope the kids and Chewy are doing ok, must be tough on them.
Morning. Back from Mayor/School Board breakfast across to the other side of county. News cameras were there. Waiting for the UPS guy with notes on the door I am in train room upstairs so give me a minute to get down to the door. Rainy and chilly. Had to wear a jacket. How terrible. Glad to hear that Char is doing good. Still praying. Hope most of the Town stuff is over for a few days and next week [only one day right now]. Have a great weekend.

Aloha all. Grey and mild. Happy news about Char - continued prayers! Working at home today as Bride leaves later with the teen for a weekend of church camp in the snow up in Wisconsin. Couldn't believe she is going - but she does get to stay in a motel - she's a coach to the small group leaders. Pleasantly surprised to get the March CTT in the mailMike C, did the bells actually swing / work in older Lionel Standard Gauge engines? Just browsing through some photos - looked like they did.
TGIF ...... although sleet and snow here . Hope the delivery guy gets here though ... .... good night on the tardis ... great news from my buddy Brutus about Char !
It is another foggy morning in SE Indiana, but my heart is full with sadness and joy. Sadness at the loss of SP's friend (extending my sincere condolences) and joy at the progress of Brutus' wife. Brutus, we are here for you. The power of this forum knows almost no bounds as I can testify. Turning the subject to trains, my dad and I put on a program about trains for one of the local service groups. He talked about HO and I did a bit about O and Standard. One of the guests from another club is a TCA menber. It was a good evening and they fed us well. TBIL and I can drive anytime tonight. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a mild 38 degrees. Cloudy. Going up to 44 today, with cloudy skies.
Today is an easy day. I have a few phone calls to make and a couple of chores to take care of. Then, I will relax in the train room.
Brutus.....Great news. Prayers for continued improvement.
Buckeye......TGIF

So many roads, so little time.
Hi GUYZ,
89 days left o school. On the downward side, get new kidos today.
RAY, sorry for your loss. Prayers to you.
BRUTUS, BIG CONGA!
BUCKEYE, TGIF!!!!!
Stay frosty,
Brutus....Great news. See you on FB.
Too busy and its complicated, but I did post some new photos of the Florida Gold Coast RR Museum on my web page. See link below. The museum is a must see if you are in the Miami area.
Brutus.....just caught up and read your post. This is really good news. And I am not ashamed to admit it brought a tear of joy to my eyes. Earlier comments by Ray and Dennis really hit home with me tonight. It is times like this that make me realize how much I obsess over nothing and spend too little energy on the important things in life. I'll bet there are a couple dozen guys on this forum who wished they lived in St. Louis to help out. I am one. Prayers continue until Char is home and well.
Blueberryhill RR dougdagrump I seem to recall an article aways back, many decades back, about a VW with an engine out of a Porsche that was described as a Corvette Killer at the strip. Doug.... I think that Paul Newman used to do that. He raced VWs with Porsche engines Chuck

A Porsche 1600SC engine with dual carbs put out about 105bhp, bolted right up to the trans, and fit under the lid nicely.. The trick for the common man was finding one without breaking the bank.
Ray - Prayers for the loss of your friend and all those who will have a void in their lives. It sounds like there is another star shining tonight.
Brutus - Great News. Prayers will continue. I witnesed the miracle of birth of another grandchild (#8) last Thursday. I know that there is someone who hears our prayers.
