Just got off the phone with UPS... The shipping info was updated to status: Exception. What is an Exception you might ask? Well they can't tell you on the phone, but online it says something along the lines that 'Your item is in the UPS system but an anomoly occured that could impact your delivery date'. So I tell the guy on the phone that this is an order worth over $300 and it better be here on Friday, and in PERFECT condition. IF they have damaged the box/item or they have lost it, I will be beyond *** as this is a special gift for my wife for Christmas. 'Oh I understand sir. According to our estimated shipping time...' 'It will be here Friday before end of day. I know how to use your online time estimator, shipping cost calculator and track packages. What I want YOU to tell ME is WHERE IS MY PACKAGE?' 'Oh I understand. I can't tell you the exact location.' 'Why not? There is a barcode on the package that is scanned at every location. So where is it?' 'Oh I understand. It is somewhere in the UPS system.' 'Really? You scanned my package and turned it into binary code and have it stored in your system? That's cool. Then how do I get it out of your system and back into reality?' 'I don't understand.'... WTF can't US companies hire people that SPEAK FREEKING ENGLISH????!!!!!!!Don I have no idea how you deal with these people every day... I would have a bloody forehead from banging my head on a wall all day.
Looks like we got over 12" of snow up here, but it's hard to tell w/ all the wind. I guess the boys had to cut up a lot of downed trees to get up here. Didn't get up in time to get any pictures, but I'll try tomorrow. We just resumed operations and will probably run all night.
Doug - I should be off the hill before the next storm hits, but thanks for the warning. You guys always see it first. I'm staying up another night to finish up the work on the blower motor and help out the engineers.
Foot seems to be doing a lot better. I'll be happy to wear both boots soon. I ordered the half strainght pieces I need, so I should be having some fun this weekend.
Everyone take care. Seems like it's going around.

Cloudy, rainy and mid 30's today. Snowing west of us. Interesting thing is that it feels warmer now than when I came home from work.
2010 planning time at work. The staff has been discussing the 2010 plant goals for two to three weeks. They got presented to us today, and now it looks like we have three or four days to outline projects to assure that the new goals are met. Does this timing seem odd to anybody else but me?
Stopped at the LHS and discovered that my Maiden Rescue had come in today. Haven't unpacked it yet, but it looks like I'll have to do some rearrangement of my layout to make a spot for it - too many parallel tracks. This accessory reminds me of the old song I think was called 'Along Came Jones'. One verse went something like:
He tiiied her up,
He put her on the raiiiiilroad tracks
and a traaaaiiiiin was coming.
Along came Jones, big tall Jones
slow walkin', slow talkin' Jones.
On that note - later all.
Brent,
Hopefully, nobody swiped the package. I know people who work for both of the major shippers, and I have heard some very bad things concerning package handling. You should have asked that person for a supervisor because it sounds like they were being lazy. I also had a bad customer service experience today concerning a Triple Baconator and fries, so I know how you feel.
Jim,
Do you know of any way to tighten a slipping cam in a 755? I rotated the start/stop cam to set timing, but the timing retards slightly. I have another motor on the way, but I am wondering if there is a fix. There doesn't appear to be a set screw to lock the cam like there is in the later 799.
I had a pileup/rollover involving a 302AC and 650 passenger car tonight. I had both loops running, and I didn't notice that the 650 on the end of the train uncoupled. The 302AC rear ended the 650, and the 302 rolled onto its side. Fortunately, there was no damage to anything.
Good night. Raining hard and temps going up [how about that Jon?]. Just got finished watching Grand Tarino on Max on Demand. Had not seen the movie. Clint Eastwood was great as usual.
Beavers? Crazy thing. Went this AM and they had started building and quit without finishing. Had not stopped up the spillway. Had strated their dam in the middle and quit. ???? I did get a fairly new crankbait out of the deal. They had put a stick in the middle with a crankbait that had the fishing line wrapped arround it. Buddy hunting said it was wide open at 3 PM.
Did not get up leaves as neighbor was gone working another job. I did service my tractor. Changed oil, filter and anti-freeze [anti-freeze was probably 10 years old]. Then disked the leaves I had dumped into the garden [was a little wet but OK]. Now I can load more on top of them.
UPS is great until they lose a package. Took me two months to recoup the $$ from one lost.
Sleep tight.

We called our local newspaper this last week due to a late paper, the customer service representative's command of the English language had a definite Manderian influence.

Mornin' boys. Started with a pretty good SNOHIZO last night, then turned into a monsoon. Handled a pretty good crash between a mustang and a VFD utility truck. No one seriously hurt, but the boys in red had a wild ride.

HEY BUCKEYE,
Just saw a clip on TV about ROUDOLFH, OHIO. Anywhere near ROGERS CORNERs elevation 936? Neat clip about their post office and all the Christmas mail.
Good morning all,
It is windy in SE Indiana with temps to drop and Snohio to fall. Drive into work was ok, drive home tonight..... Lots of worthless meetings today. Did get good night's sleep and did go to YMCA for soccer drills and weights. Scored major points with "saucy wench" last night by finding two sheet metal angels she puts on front porch ironwork for decoration. We had both been searching for them for last two weeks. I had bran muffins on the dining car for breakfast before sending them on to "Points East". TBIL after "Glee" tonight. I hope everyone has a good day today.
Keep on training,

Our web site ships daily using UPS, FedEx and USPS. Our experience shows an Exception to usually be 1) No one home to sign for the package, or 2) a snow delay. All three jump on the chance to use snow as an excuse for a delay.
I'll bet you all didn't know we have a web site, besides running a farm and playing with trains!

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is windy !!!!!!! Sunny skies. 55 degrees. No snow. ( yet ). Going down to 35 today with possible snow.
Today is a busy day. I have to run a bunch of errands before the bad weather hits. I will be busy.
Dining car arrived from " Points West " and we had the usual for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Wednesday.
Chuck
Good Morning
45 degrees, snow and rain overnite. But tomorrow doesn't sound good at all. Snow, high wind and 20 degrees. Oh joy. Breakfast was eggs hash browns and one toast. I will skip lunch. Oh yes deliveries, I have emails for things that have been shipped but not one of them has arrived yet. Nobody home will not work cause I have been here.
Happy hump day guys...S.J.

Mornin All.
Workin on the caffeine trying to get motivated for a bigtime "honey-do" list.
Looks like a nice day today but starting tomorrow afternoon I definitely wouldn't want to have beach front property. They are predicting 5 to 10 foot+ breakers thursday thru friday and the possibility of 15 to 20 footers over the weekend as well as heavy rains. Sandbags are a very hot commoddity in the beach community right now.
Later all.

Fife,
What is a Mustang? Oh, it is that car that Ford made the mistake of not replacing with a better model in 1988. (I am really going to get in trouble with this!)
8n,
The word on the street is that the Aerotrain has been shipped. I know that you've been waiting on one, and I wasn't sure if you knew.
Not much else going on today. I've taken pics, so I'll get them into the photo fun thread. Here is a bit of a preview.

Good morning gyz. Went for walk this morning and temp was a brisk 38 degrees when I got up. Sun is out though and it looks like a beautiful day. Rain and showers predicted for the rest of the week starting tomorrow and snohio in the mountains. Went to Christmas dinner last night with our social group from church. We had a private dinning room at the restaurant but it took forever to get about 24 people served. The whole meal door to door took about three hours. Food was great but the restaurant can't handle this kind of arrangement. I think the private dinning room is new and they haven't figured out how to manage it yet. Waiting staff did their best. They were just working with a bad system. Another Christmas party Thursday night. It is for a group at church my wife belongs to. Husbands are invited but I might stay home and have dinner with my adult son or go late since they have a meeting before dinner anyway and there would be nothing for me to do for the first hour unless another spouse with common interest to talk about shows up while we are waiting. Following that my TCA Western Division is having a Christmas party on Saturday. Have to bring a desert and I better get it before the rain starts. I think there is one more dinner somewhere down the line and then we get to go shopping I suppose. Think I will just give gift certificates. I'm too tired for all this running around craziness. I have been running my trains a little each day since the rain stopped and enjoying my new GGD passenger cars. The pullmans look good behind my ACL E6 units. Looks like the "Everglades" before streamlining. Also enjoying my $3 CD player in the garage. It works great. That was the best buy of the year. Have a good day,

good afternoon. Pretty tired and getting ready for an afternoon nap. Wife has gone shopping with daughter who has taken on the role of "Shopping Partner". I think it is some kind of team in which once they get together, they must go buying stuff. Came home from Target with a lot of stuff....but no trains
Figure I will rest a bit and then jump on the layout work. Picked up a built up HO building at Hobby Lobby for about $5. which is well below the normal $29.00 that it normally sells for. I will put that along with another building against the back of the layout for some "Forced Perspective". Hope everyone has a blessed day.

I have been working on the 332AC due to how slow it runs. The brushes and springs looked questionable, so I installed new ones. Now, it is slower than before. I am starting to wish that would of just left this one on the table. As I see it, I have three options: install Super Motor ($140), sell as is, or part out. I don't know what else to do.
So this wise guy Eagles calls me today and tells me he is driving with his windows down and it's close to 70 degrees, what a pal. So, I decided to ahead and share with you my Christmas gift for hiz honor, a dinner of smoked ribs with beans and my famous creme brule. I even have his table ready for immediate seating, pic taken this afternoon Not crowded at all on the deck!

So many roads, so little time.

Jon's famous ribs and beans. They are great. I know. I have the recipes. Whats a little snow! Your Honor - don't pass THIS dinner up.

Yea, I did and still can. Dark now but still warm. Real breezy though. Jon, I think you had better "cook" snow cream.
At Town Hall. Busy day. Working on "tying" down that high school. Ran errands this afternoon late. Had 1.4 inches of rain over night. Everything flooded [yards, fields and ponds]. some had over 2 inches over night. Beavers must have given up. We'll see tomorrow AM.
Out the door for home. Later. [Let it snow, let it snow] [Reminds me, Town employee had a pretty Christmasie scene on the big flat screens in meeting hall with Rolesville NC. Had snow on holly, yard, fence and house. Told him to take it down. The Yankees were rushing here to get away from such stuff. All laughed.]
Site dropped while I posted this. Time says it was psoted but not here.
Another bad one.

Shame
AT 7:00 PM, 70 degrees. 71 counties out of 100 in NC under high wind warning or advisory. Wind is hawling. 40 mph and gusts higher.
At 6:50 PM it's 75 in the living room free heat, wood insert in the fireplace and it works very well! The winds have stopped and that's a good thing, glad this latest episode is about over and I can get back to trains.
Chief, That is horrible. I remember when I was doing my internship in Florida. A Hess fuel truck was stuck do to traffic. TriRail came along and couldn't stop....
Jon, We had temps in the 70s as well. Wore shorts all day. It is still 70 degrees out. Of course, at 4am, when I went in it was 38 degrees. That was followed by heavy rain and 60mph winds and tornado watch. Then the heat came. Supposed to drop again and rain in the AM. Still better than snow.
Kids are getting ready for their first violin concert this weekend. Didn't sound the best tonight, but we have two more days to get in tune. Hope it is a enjoyable event. Really want them to feel good about this.
Feeling rather cruddy right now. Took some NyQuil and hoping to get some sleep. I have two hearts to do in the morning. Want to be on my game so to speak.
Good Night!Dennis
I found out why the 332AC was running so slow. The 16B is to blame due to its limited output. I swapped it out for a ZW, and the 332 perked up considerably. I called Doug P. to dicuss the Super Motor, and I might go that route after I take care of the insurance for both vehicles.
Good evening
28 degrees going to 19 and staying there for all of tomorrow. Very high winds here too. Gust 50 to 60 at times but mostly in the 30s. One package showed up today, four to go. I stayed in, no need to go anywhere so I didn't. Banilla is ready but if I'm sleeping just tippytoe in..S.J.
