Fifedog.....Prayers for your mother.  I assume it will be a long hard fight.

Chuck......At home sounds good doesn't it?  I need the dates that you will be at OSU.  Since Wes works there he can pull some strings for you to see that the nurses are beautiful and female.

When two different locomotives stall out at the same location on the track, is that an indication of dirty track?  I have such a place and I thought about using sandpaper, steel wool, 409, gasoline, lighter fluid, pledge, tide, or water mixed with viniger, but in the end I just used a dry rag and wiped it clean and it works perfect. (Have you ever heard of satire?)

Yesterday was uneventful, except for the kidney stone I passed last night. Eight Ball

Today, I believe I will sit and look at my lump of coal.  Yeah!!

Mornin' boys.  Welcome Dutch.  Sunny & 34 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  BIG, no, HUGE, no, MONSTER game in Pittsburgh today.  Both the Steelers and RAVENS are banged up heading into this match...they may both be leaving on stretchers.

Blueberry - Glad to see that you had a nice Christmas at home.  Take care of yourself so you can do the same next year.  BTW, 48 days 'til Daytona.

We also hit the local Michael's yesterday, and I picked up 4 more packs of trees.  Standing in the aisle with me was a young man, eyeballing the LEMAX houses.  After overhearing his female companion query if he was going to start a layout next year,  I offered some tips to him.  We both agreed that the LEMAX buildings were just right for "Lionel sized" trains, but that the people were too big.  I advised him that if there were something he liked now, to better buy it, as LEMAX usually doesnt reissue buildings.  Always take the opportunity to "grow" this hobby.

Phish, Probe & EVERYBODY, thanks again on Mom's behalf.

 'Mornin' Guys!

Sign - Welcome  Big Chief of Caddy!

Well, the Princess is gone and on her way to Roma.  We won't hear from her agan until she gets back to Newark, NJ for her flight here 02 Jan 2010.

We, too ran around and picked up some buildings from WalMart, K-Mart, Michaels and Lowes.  Had breakfast at IHOP after the airport and shopped until 430.  Picked up a Victorian house, a firehouse (for my collection) and a few other things for the layout.  Got 3 sets od 4 streetlights at $2.50/per and 2 sets of flashing crossing bucks for $1.50 each.

Fell asleep during Surviving Christmas, then just got up because the Princess's alarm clock was going off at 7.  I may head back to bed shortly..waaaay tired.

I have Tuesday to next Monday off, so Mrs & I are going to Orlando and see the Universal Studios Macys Thanksgiving Day Parade & Grinchmas.  Got an inexpensive hotel and have season passes to Universal.  Should be fun.

Always good to see ya Chuck!!  Run some trains & feel better!!

Angel for Fifey's Mom & Mrs Brutus

Ok, will check back.

Good Morning all

Chief BoC - Welcome; you may notice a little good natured poking around here.  It is in good fun.  Not malicious or ill willed.

Chief - What I like about my ithaca is it ejects out the bottom.  Shooting left handed, it makes a difference to me.  I have a left handed 870 wingmaster, bunch of shells gone through that one!

Fife - I will keep your mom in my intentions this morning during Masses today.

Jim F - And your bride too!

I'm hoping the weather holds off today.  After the grandkids saw the swingset they wanted to play on it and was dissapointed when they could not because it was not secured in the ground yet.  I will try and do it today after communion calls.

Got to go May God bless

Jim

Hope everyone had a good Christmas! Train ride was fun, would have been even more fun if I wasn't tired from the long day Wed. Slept right thru Santa Fe, but did see Albequerque and the old Santa Fe shops. Amtrak is definitely the way to fly. At breakfast in Winslow I had the choice of potatoes or grits. In honor of the Chief I had the grits.

I actually took a train on the train. I brought the 2026 and a couple of cars to show my brother's kids and continue the tradition of the train around the tree in the family. We had a good Christmas w/ the family. Got some gift cards among other things. I see more 1122's in the near future. Today I went to Ace to order a coffee maker for mom and stopped by a local train store on the way. Owner was closing early but was still there so he let me in. Chatted a bit and I lightened him of a 6472 reefer and a new 36112 3-dome tank car. The 6472 has opening doors so it may be fun for the SPF.  Brother and I will go to the Forney Trans. Museum in Denver on Monday to see the #2005 Big Boy (bought him the UP Big Boy Collection DVD for Christmas). I was drooling over the Lionel Big Boy at the hobby shop BTW.

Brent - Get a steam powered rotary snowplow. It will keep you warm while you shovel:)

Fife - prayers for your mom

Jim - the valve gear on the 342 is beautiful. I'll take some pictures of my brother's PGT while I'm here. Could be very inexpensive.

Was running the 2026 w/ the 6472 this afternoon and made a comment to my mom that I should have got back into this years ago. Very therapeutic. Despite the difficulties of the past year, I have trains, family, and good friends. Would have been a very different year w/o you guys.

Good evening all,

Chuck, glad you are feeling a little better.  Keep up the good work.

Chief and Jim, I will leave the shotgun discussion to you two.  Been out of the loop too long on gun talk.

Did anyone read the article in CTT February issue by Scott Smith on how to make dual gauge track for Standard and O gauge.  I know he uses it on his own layout.  He is quite a resorceful person and is a good promoter for the hobby.  I like to look at the pictures he post on the forums.

Slow day here today.  Just sat around  looking at things I got for Christmas and eating candy. Bad!!!  Did run a few trains for a while but it was too cold in the train room.

Sleep tight,

Ray

Good evening all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 30s.  Spent the day at the sister-in-law's place in Bloomington.  We had a "White Elephant" Christmas gift exchange and we came home with less cubic feet of stuff than we brought over so it was a win-win for us.  We had nice weather on the drive over and back so it was a good day.  Welcome to Chief Cadillac!  I had streusel again on the dining car for breakfast.  TBIL, but if someone else could drive, I would appreciate it.  We stopped at Target on the way home.  The B&O was on clearance for 140.  Almost got it, but I thought of the standard gauge track I could get instead and thought the better of it.  If it drops to $100.....  I hope everyone has a good day.  Prayers going out to all who need them, especially Fifey's mom and Brutus' wife.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Welcome Chief BoC!

Running late - my aunt came into town from around Bloomington, IL.  Went over to my folks' house for pizza dinner, cookies, and some good visiting with my brother, one sister, with their families, and my folks and all.  My brother's daughters and mine took turns singing - they are all very talented.  I can't hold a tune, so not sure where that came from Laugh

Tardis is ready and I've go the wayback circuit set for about 9, so let's hit it!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Got my Ithaca sid-by-side.  Happy now.  Seller's brother called BIL and tried to buy it but BIL told him I had already picked it up [he did want to go back on a handshake].  A little TLC and she will be happy with me.  Speaking of Ithacas and featherweights.  My old [1970 to 85] rabbit hunting partner was a big tall black guy.  He used an Ithaca Featherwieght semi-auto 20 gauge with gold trigger.  He killed a many a rabbit with it [and a few foxes too].  We had some fun.  Packed for the lake house.  Will hit the road after Sunday School tomorrow and return Monday night.

"Chief", told you the "POT" was fun.  Just tell us all about yourself.  Glad to have you here.  Now let me tell you.  There is a guy who goes by Buckeye on here.  Don't pay him much mind.  Been blinded by so many Ohio snow storms and it has gone to his "brain" [what little is left]. Whistling

Have a good one.

PS: John F and OT, I knew it looked like a long gun.  Just measured the barrels.  30 inches.  Wow.  I use to hunt with a 28" and a 26" when I was a teen.  OH well, glad to have it.

Went nutzy at the 75% off lowes trim-a-tree sale .... even 75% off already clearance priced items .  Wife's fellow employee and I have an ongoing competition for next year ... but I beat her to that sale . Plucked the xmas trim off the engines .... that gooey stuff was perfect .... no residue and all items held great ! Got a cool building .... illuminated with scanning xmas lights and all .... the Village Hardware Store ..... for $8.00 . Almost perfect O scale for xmas layout . Wish I had got there earlier ... salesman said they had alot of different ones .... but I'm not greedy and happy with just it .

HAPPY NEW YEAR to all ..... and MANY more to come !

Yep, your post are there. Come on in and have a coffee.

Good Evening

36 today, snow in Michigan but none here YET. A little expected overnite. I did not eat much today, ham and eggs for breakfast and a toasted cheese and ham sandwich, potato salad for supper. Thats right, leftovers. Ran the NYC F3s again today and so far they are doing fine.  A nice looking set. Banilla is ready for the Tardis, we just need to find the keys...S.J.

Good Evening from Blueberryhill....

We had a great Christmas Day.  Today was quiet with lots of leftovers and a nice nap. The weather is cold but, I don't care.  I got a couple of nice train things, as gifts. One was a huge book on World Railroods.

I am feeling a little stronger  each day. This will take awhile. Therapy lady will be here again, Monday. I have to get legs working again. They are stiff now. Still losing a lot of water weight.

I enjoy reading all of your posts, on your Christmas days.  This  is a great Family.

I need to get down to the train room. Therapy.

Y'all have a great Evening.

Fife,

         Prayers for you mom.

I've spent the day running trains and playing with the camera. I had a pile up this morning when a 650 passenger car uncoupled from the 650 in front of it and the 322AC rear ended it. I am also adding more videos to my YouTube channel.  I have a 326 Hudson on the way that needs restored, and I can't wait to start that project.

Oldest son and family departed this afternoon as there was "a window of opportunity" in our weather for them to travel safely.  Really had a great time while they were here but ol' Grandpa is very tired but it's a good tired.  Our DIL went to work out with me three days and Grammie was able to take the princess granddaughter swimming twice, sure feels good to work out and not feel so guilty about a Christmas cookie.  Youngest son and new bride couldn't make it because of the weather problems but we will try and hook up with them next weekend.

As I watch the sun set tonight it's a beautiful winter scene outside, sorry Buckeye.  I cannot believe the amount of snow we have on the ground, it's unbelievable.  We had a tremendous time yesterday sledding down our hills, many, many laughs and smiles.  Dougdagrump--even with this wonderful winter scene just outside I'm already asking the boss when her next trip to Sandy Eggo might be Cool  Whole family wants to go spring skiing in CO in March ........  for the first time in my life I'd rather go somewhere with a nice beach I can walk on, not sure how to share that info with them.  I'll probably cave in and go skiing......... I know I'm getting old, dang it.

Had a wonderful flanged Christmas gift from my wife.  It will be on Sunday Photo Fun, HUGE surprise Shock

Early to bed tonight.

Merry Christmas!!!!!!!!!!!

ChiefEagles
Going to pickup a Ithaca double barrel side-by-side that BIL's fellow worker wants to sell for $300.

Chief, I always liked Ithaca shotguns and side-by sides.  It has been quite a few years since they made one, not sure of the exact date though.

Hope everyone had a nice Christmas.  We had a total of 12 for dinner.  Lots of action with grandkids from 3 to 16.  Ran trains with the smaller ones, 3, 6, 8 & 10.

Watching Pittsburgh vs. NC, at the moment it is tied 10-10.  Go Pittsburgh! Thumbs UpSmile

Fifey, all do that believe.

Back from Edna's.  Got box with two traveling box cars.  One is the Susie Q and other is the B&O in Chessie box.  Will run, photo and send them on their way.

Did pickup a NS flat with pipes that looks good.  Started to get UP with bass boat on board.  Figured it would upset Buckeye as he has never had a bass boat. Whistling Only lumps of coal. Laugh  Maybe next trip.

Was shirt sleeve weather here today.  Watered greenhouse and fertilized the plants with some Miracle Grow.

BTW: beavers have left the scene.  No more dam building.  Guess they could not afford our building permit. Shock

Going to pickup a Ithaca double barrel side-by-side that BIL's fellow worker wants to sell for $300.  Excellent shape.  Pat, now I am really armed for that invasion you have planned.

Later.

Thanks for the "lift-ups" for my mom.  I'm usually not in the habit of discussing personal issues, but some of YUZ GUYZ seem to have a direct line upstairs.

Heartfelt thank you.

Too much snow this am. Not going out to try to move it until it slows down. Didn't expect it. Just finished the annual 'toy swap' for the youngest in his room - old for new. Here's my old new toys (What do you think - isn't it cool how the door opens on the Great Western brake van?):

Mornin' Fellas.

Fife - Prayers for your Mom. Angel And you and Mrs Fife really do deserve a nice respite! Have a good time and if you're both up for it, on the way back give me a call. I'm heading back to the Burg next Saturday but should be around every other day.

Got the office cleaned out this morning as well as emptied the two bookshelves and got them moved to another wall. Tomorrow BiL and I are hoping to get to my work place and move out my office furniture. Will be nice to have a real desk, chair, credenza and hutch. Will result in some donations to Goodwill as well. Can't beat the price on the 'new to us' stuff either. OH, and I also am getting a foldup drafting table. Will put that in the basement and use it for making buildings and working on trains. I've been needing a nice work surface as the dinning room table is now 'off limits'.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Good morning all on the day after Chistmas.  We all had a big ham dinner last night after get together with the family and opened all the presents.  I got too much candy for my own good.  Also got some good DVD's of train stuff to look at.  One is about the constuction of the third track in Cajon Pass and daylighting two old tunnels on the line.  The other is a film about the Mount Lowe Railway here in Southern California which is long gone but years ago was an electrified trolley line to a mountain resort with spectacular trestles and an incline railway to the final destination.  Lot of history there.  I'm looking forward to reading a nice book I got about the Norfolk and Western Powhatan Arrow passenger train which was pulled by the famous bullet nosed class J 4-8-4 steam locomotive.  I rode the line once in the mid 60's but by then the Arrow had been discontinued and we rode the Pocahontas instead which was the overnight train between Cincinatti and Norfolk.  It is pretty cold here today for this neck of the woods.  Was only 43 this morning when I got up.  We have a lot of left over ham to play with now and parts of three pies.  Well actually two.  The pecan pie is down to one piece left.  Wife and I have the place to ourselves today so we are enjoying the quiet.  Starting tomorrow we will baby sit my Son's pet bird for a few days while they go away.  The bird likes to get out of the cage a lot and raises caine when he can't.  I'm afraid he might want to roost in our Christmas tree and start knocking off ornaments.  He is a cockateal I think.  Pretty smart bird and he has the whole family trained almost to do his bidding.

Doug, stay warm and don't shovel too much snow.

Pat, enjoy your new train videos

Buckeye, if all else fails, you can burn your coal and keep warm.

Brutus,  hope you had a good Christmas.

Sounds like all of you had a pretty good one so far.  We just had one bump in the road on Christmas eve.  We had a plumbling problem with our kitchen sink and were lucky enough to get a plumber to come out on Christmas eve and fix it.  My son and I tried cleaning out the trap ouselves but the problem required a roto rooter treatment to clear the line.  It was'nt cheap but we had a much happier Christmas than we would have otherwise.  It's funny how these things always happen at the worst possible time.

Have a good week end everyone.

Ray

Now the Chief rubs salt in the wound by saying fifedog is such a good boy.  Banged Head  Oh, well back to looking at my lump of coal. Sigh

Packed up the K-Line Amtrak FP40 and sent it to Saginaw for Michigan.  It has been the worse engine in the fleet.   The Williams with either TAS TMCC or ERR TMCC never miss a beat.

I can't believe that we have missed all the snow.  There is nothing in the front yard.  Snowblower hasn't even been out of the garage.

Everyone take care of themselves, ya here!

Aloha all. It is snowing like crazy here. Bride appreciates my last gift of Christmas - encouraging her application to a two-year program for a cert in spiritual development.  She anticipates heading out to a party later where we'll know no one.  Hope it's too snowy. Going to clean up all the stuff around the house.

Prayers for your mom, Fife.  Nice new profile photo, Jim.
