Wednesday, December 16, 2009  -- 3:15 pm    I just received a call on my cell phone from Chuck's (Blueberry) wife, informing me that he passed out and collapsed at home.  He has been taken to the hospital by the squad.  First reports are congestive heart problems.  His wife was very distraught and we did not talk long.  As I know more, I will pass on the info.  Prayers need to be said for Chuck.

Afternoon.  Busy morning at the gym.  Not a lot of TV coverage wbut they want digital photos so they can use them.  Noon news was at the Church not far away where the fireman's [pickup hit by the school bus last week] funeral is being held.  Expecting hundreds of people.  BTW: bus drive has been charged.

Now to get photos emailed.  Also video will be shot Monay.  Got to get some more decorations out for the wifey to be happy.  Then all the kids [Burg and Lucy] are going to the lake with Dad for a couple of nights.  HEY!!!!  No rain.  Did turn cold though [but not like Ioway].

Doug M, sorry about your Dad.  Prayers.

Later.

DISASTER DISASTER!!!! in Roesyville

Chief, you gave me a start!  As you know I used to be an engineer on the Southern Pacific Railroad.  Years ago we had a real disaster at our yard in Roseville, California when some bombs blew up from an ammunition train and wrecked the yard there.  Disaster in Roesyville and disaster in Roseville sound a lot alike.

Regards, Ray

Doug, condolences on the passing of your Dad.  I knew that you expected it but it is never easy.  God be with you and may his soul rest in peace.

Dennis, re "Band of Brothers", this is the best film I have ever seen about WWII.

I need to get the Christmas layout finished today. If there is time, I will swap the camshaft in the 755 with the one from the motor that I bought. Hopefully I can just remove the small bracket that holds the end of the camshaft and slide it out. I'd swap the entire mechanism, but the one that I bought is missing the bottom part of the turntable shaft. The extra motor is apparently from a 755A, so it has the resistor that eliminates the need to lock out the reversing unit.  I think I'll pull that as well. I forgot to mention that I won the Super Motor yesterday, and with any luck the 332AC will be getting a Christmas present.Big Smile

Morning & Happy Hump Day!!

Doug Angel for your Dad

Brutus – GOOD NEWS!!! AWESOME!

Yesterday in the 80’s now 60.  Wind.  Gray.  CHRISTMAS WEATHER!

Ran trains under the tree last night, got the last 2 CPI cars on the track, will post videos and pictures on SPF for Sunday.  A special Christmas edition, as it were.

Also got my NJZinc car back, missed it.  I have 2 others, so now I have a nice short consist.  YAY!!

Not much else, just trying to start Christmas shopping, have to send out checks to the kids.  Cheaper than buying toys and shipping them out.

Angel for Christmas – Let us be well and Merry!!

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps reaching 30 sometime (for the newcomers and those of you using the 'home' version of the 'pot, It is another beautiful sunny day in SE Indiana).  Went to YMCA for soccer drills and weights.  Worked on consistency in juggling and wound up with a 5 touch per attempt average, which, while not too impressive, is not too bad considering not too long ago 5 touches was a personal best.  Dad was over for a while.  The "saucy wench" and I finished Christmas cards last night.  I still have some work related ones to do, but those I just sign my name.  Work was an absolute bear yesterday.  Only two more days after today.  I had a little extra on the dining car this morning for breakfast before sending it on to "Points East".  TBIL, and I can drive again.  Still recovering from the loop-de-loops from the other night as well.  Dennis W, in regard to the life-saving event you mentioned, He may get the glory, but I would score you with an assist on the play (to use a soccer phrase).  Well done!  (Does kind of make you wonder, if G-d played soccer and got a goal, would the ref still yellow card Him if He took His shirt off?  Hmmmm, perhaps that is a theological question that will never be answered, and definitely one that is way too deep this early in the morning :-) )  In any event, I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Aloha all. I had a feeling. Talked to my mom this am. My dad did pass - and she was able to be with him. Glad I got to see him last month. Thanks again for your good wishes.

Only 7 degrees here. Wow, Laz, you get your tree late.  But it's real. We put ours up the day after Thanksgiving.

Morning all.  I should be asleep, but it fails me now.  Took some Benadryl and hope to be snoozing soon.  Perhaps I need to reclinerize as it seems to work for the Chief!

Brutus, fantastic news.  Hope things move along at lightning pace and she gets on the mend soon.  Sure her spirits are up about now.

Still on call, but they did not call me back for anything so far.  With any luck, I will not have to go in till later this morning.  Want to get a few more things taken care of on the layout.  With all this work, perhaps I should get some photos for the contest?  At this point, I think it is more of making up the scenery as I go.

Dennis

Brutus,

The cause of the blower only working at higher speeds is a failed resistor pack. The Sunfire had this problem when I bought it, and it was cheap and easy for me to fix myself.

Chief - reminds me of an old country joke about the young bride married to the old farmer and she's complaining about sourgham?

Thanks guys - she is really excited - now they will get her sister up here, get her in for a physical and start giving her meds so she can be the donor!  The ball is actually rolling now - feels great!  Laz - I will do it, grab some Ole Mills and we'll get her and her hubby too, he's a Red Stripe man Smile

Never fails, spend some money and an unexpected bill shows up.  Coming home, the blower on my truck quit working in the lower speeds - still works flat out on high.  Needs to be serviced too, guess I'll see if this is warranteed.

Tomorrow is our Christmas party at work so I'm looking forward to that Smile

Tardis is ready so let's hit it guys, Patrick or Mike can drive again - SJ did some loops last night and made me queasy!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
