Sunny and 20's today. Supposed to warm up over the next few days.
Brutus - great news.
Took my wife's minivan in for an oil change today and also had them look for a coolant leak that has been leaving a 6" spot on the driveway every night. The leak turns out to be in the intake manifold gaskets. Good thing I had them look, as it is better to find that sort of thing in the shop than on the way to Michigan for Christmas! Need to get a new set of tires lined up next.
Not much else. Later all.
Good Evening
A little white stuff on the ground but not covered.

Good evening everyone! Chief, wow, that sounds like some kind of nasty example they are giving to the students. Perhaps, these meetings should be video taped and put on YouTube for all the students to see. That would at least let them know the folks at the front of the classroom.
Jon, Sharyl does some fantastic scenery. Perhaps you can rent out her scenery skills to the rest of us. That would help us out, utilize her time doing something she loves, and bring in some spending money for the household. Also, it would get her busy elsewhere and leave less for you to clean up! Just kidding, she does great work and I know you are proud of her.
Well, had one of those days that makes me exhausted, yet thrilled. Got to save a life tonight. Can't get into details for patient confidentiality issues, but I made some patient management decisions that made the difference. A good case of God having me in the right place at the right time....felt good, but He gets the glory.
DougM., sorry to hear about your Dad's deteriorating condition. We had spoken about that when we talked awhile back. We hate to see our parents get into anything less of optimal condition. In some ways, Mom was spared that. Regardless, we must let them know in any way we can that they are loved. When writing a eulogy, nothing can be more important than the fact that they love the Lord and their family. I have met many people in my line of work who have lived a long life. Each one has a story to tell. In the end, each has made a difference in their own way. I wish you well and it should not be too difficult to find the blessings of your Dad's life.
Speaking of Band of Brothers, I saw on www.Bensbargains.net that Amazon has Band of Brothers, the complete series on Blue Ray for $40. That is a great price. Especially considering that I just picked up the DVD set at Sam's for $44. I watched the first two parts and am in the third. Very impressive.
Got some work done on the layout dark early this morning. As I mentioned, it has been a long day. Just finished dinner. Hope it is a good night for everyone.God Bless,Dennis

jonadel It's a shame our prevailing winds are typically (at this time of year) out of the north and west, if they were from the south and east we would have climate change like you've never seen----all that HOT AIR out of Roseyville would certainly melt the polar ice cap without a doubt. Maybe while Chief is meeting with the school board they could enroll him in some remedial manners courses that he must have missed--probably went fishing that day

Yes, I went fishing. The same day they gave out BRAINS. You loved trains so much you thought they said trains, jumped on board and left town without any ------.
Wifey and I went Christmas shopping after the mess of a School Board meeting. Will have it straight for the next one. None of the Mayors got to get in. Bunch of whiney teacher that took off at noon to go sit all afternoon to keep the new board's supporters from getting in. I wanted to talk so they could boo me. Then I was going to turn around and tell them what a great example they were to their students. Next time the students did not like what the teacher was saying, boo and walk out like the teachers did last meeting. Speaking of manners.
Gracious, we are wearing out the Applebees two for $20. Ate there again tonight.
Later. Blow wind blow and make the trees sway in Ioway. Freeze, freeze to go along with the breeze.

Evenin' boys. Really enjoyed the concert. Littlest princess really has a set of chops. Gets that from the mama.
Brutus - keep that good news a-rollin'...
cnw1995 - We're all here for you.
88 - so, how long have you been a hooker...?
jonadel - Perhaps you should go to Copenhagen with this global-warming revelation...
jonadel It is her favorite time of year and I just stay on the sidelines, keep quiet and smile a lot
Spoken like a man who knows how to keep peace. My favorite phrase this time of year is "Yes Dear...whatever you say Dear...."

Jon, You forgot one other comment, "Yes Dear".
Afternoon All.
Just now beginning to feel halfway alive. That extra hour the museum is open on the weekends sure makes the day a whole lot longer. It was "Family Day" so the kids were allowed to come in PJ's for the Polar Express as well as Thomas & Friends . Very busy, only two of us.
Jim, Great news.
Doug M, Been there, rough times. Hang in there.

Brutus--FANTASTIC NEWS, what a great relief you must feel at this point, now it's onto the next chapter for your family, stay strong!
We will be hosting Christmas for the family next week and the only thing missing is the Polar Express around the tree, seems like it's always the last thing to do---I'd never hear the end of it if that didn't happen. The boss just goes nuts decorating our home and I like it but it would sure be a lot less stressful for the two of us if she could just scale it back a little .... probably will never happen. It is her favorite time of year and I just stay on the sidelines, keep quiet and smile a lot
Jon
So many roads, so little time.
Good Afternoon
Running late today, went shopping, no people problems early in the day. Also got my bay purchase's washed, dried and lubed. Old habit I clean anything I buy that is not new. Who knows where it has been. Temp here is about 35 but going down after today.....S.J.
Brutus,
That is great news.
Brent,
You should see the mess that my dad can make connecting all of his A/V stuff LOL. I took the job of conecting everything (read cleaning up his mess) back together after we moved the TV. Be careful with the exterior boards.
Doug,
Sorry to hear about your dad.
I finally got my online finals done, so the Christmas layout takes priority now. I sold some books to help pay for the Super Motor.
Papadiesel WELCOME TOM ! Hopefully, Daisy and I will get to Wild Bills and pick up the NS SD70ACe HERITAGE

Mornin' FellasBrutus - This is simply awesome news!I am the designated electronics hooker upper in the family. I don't think I've had to look at instruction manuals to figure them out in years! . What I do is hook one component up at a time, keeping in mind what I want to do with each piece. Also, I find it best to do Audio ONLY components first, then work on the Video components. I test each piece as I go as well. The problem child for me is the DVD recorder because you can't test recording without ruining a disc... one thing VHS had over DVD-R for sure!We got a new dishwasher for Christmas! It is a Bosche (The Q wanted something quiet, that has a 1/2 load option, is stainless steel, and won't die after 2 years). Can't wait to disconnec the old, possessed, one tonight! Then tomorrow morning I'll be off to the dump to unload the old one and then off to the store to pickup the new one, then home to get the new one installed! Will probably take less time to hook it up than it will driving all over Western Maryland to get it! Also hope to get a section of siding put back on the house tomorrow... last section that was removed during construction and hasn't made it back up yet. May also try to finish the exterior boards on the sunroom... we'll see about that one - that's what I was doing when I almost sawed my leg off...Speaking of the leg injury... was told by the physical therapist last night that I am doing so well there isn't anything more they can do... so instead of 8 weeks of PT I will be stopping at week 4.
MIKE C.
As far as the run goes, it's all in the pace. Somedays slow and some days fast, depending if the dogs are chasing me or not. Remember pace yourself.
Good Morning all
DougM – I will say a few extra prayers for you and for your Dad. The shell we call our body just is a container for the important part, our soul which is just waiting to escape the pain of this life for an eternal life with God. Prayers for those who love your Dad and your Dad to ease the pain in these days.
Tom – WELCOME! Not only another American Flyer fan, but another Ohioan! Maybe if we look hard enough we will that weird looking third rail. Speaking of third rail, did you see the Duke Energy layout!
Got to go.
May God bless
Jim
Prayers for all !
Gamma and I are anticipating going to our grandaughter's school Christmas extravaganza tomorrow. Starting to get back the Christmas spirit.
Morning all. Western omelet [wifey got spiral cut ham]. Guess what? RAIN!!!!
Off to the gym to work out. Been slack there. Doing news conference from there tomorrow AM. Heart Healthy challenge.
Mike C., had big national soccer thing in Cary NC this past week and weekend. Cary is south of Raleigh but in my county. They have big multi-million dollar complex just for soccer.
Got big School Board meeting this afternoon and the new members want me to attend. Will go but do not know how long I'll stay. This cold has a bad cough. Also Wifey and I have to get a thing for the new TV at the lake to sit on. Right now it is on the coffee table.
All have a good day.
WHAT WAS THAT NOISE? !!!!!! Oh it is the Ioway igloo rolling down the road. All frozen and cold. Talked to the old retired blow hard band director last night. It was COLD there and wind blowing hard. Couldn't happen to a better fellow. Well, maybe Buckeye.
Doug .... God bless you buddy ... I know what it is to lose a DAD .... mine was not only my dad / father ... but my best friend . My prayers are at full throttle for his longer stay with you and for you in this time of probable loss . I only wish I could be there to put my hand on your shoulder and help buddy .... but I will be there in spirit .... GOD BLESS . The lord is going to take him away from his suffering and take him home with him .... you'll see him one day ... you can count on that . He'll be there waiting for you . Just be thankful of all the years you did get to spend with him ... many don't get that reward and lose them very early in life .
Brutus .... fabulous news ! I've been there wishing and praying for this along with you for a long while .... WOW .... there could'nt be any better Christmas gift !!!! And some today say prayers never get answered .... showed them ... did'nt HE ! Sometimes it takes a bit longer than we hoped .... I think he may make us wait longer sometimes to appreciate miracles more .

Good morning all,
It is back to typical weather in SE Indiana (not far from newcomer Tom, welcome to the 'pot!) with clouds and temps in the 30s. Picked up sticks in yard with the "saucy wench" while still nice out last night. Went to YMCA for soccer drills (touches of 8, 9, 11, and 12) and weights. Paid some bills and did some Second Life. Jim, I did not bring a camera Sunday, and it was more scale oriented (no Flyer and no Plasticvllie). Tom, you will find this to be a pleasant and at times "interesting" group of people. Some of the conversations that take place here you can not make up. Brutus, great news about the missus. Doug M., sorry to hear about your dad. I think you had mentioned the situation in the past, but if it happened two minutes ago, it is already gone from my memory (funny, though, how I can remember almost every 500 winner). Jon in Iowa, enjoy???? your weather. Laz, there is no such thing as an "easy" two mile run (not for me, anyway, not yet...if ever). I had a little extra on the dining car for breakfast before I sent it to "Points East". TBIL, and I can drive (we celebrated Brutus' good news extra hard last night... good thing Patrick was driving). I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
HI GYZ,
38 and not too bad here. To get to 46 then turning colder, maybe big storm over weekend?
Ran an easy 2 miles yesterday after school, felt good.
DOUG, prayers for your DAD. Hope all is well.
SF,

Reclinerized,
Welcome Tom.
Prayers for Doug M. and family.
Dennis, yes all the Yankee rats jumped the ship.
Tom!
Prayers for all of us and our loved ones.
We got some good news today - Insurance approved my wife for her transplant! Now we just need to get her sister up here for a test, then set up dates! Thank GOD! I can't tell you guys what a weight this is off my shoulders!
Chief - gonna have to get you to come back with me in the Tardis one of these nights, bought a bunch of new cables and stuff for the tv and dvd etc and I'll bet you could hook them up in your sleep after all the tv's you have upgraded in the past few years Now, where did I put those stereo instructions from years ago?
Nothing else going on today - drove kids to school, after-school stuff, then waited for them while they chatted and dawdled with their friends - the usual, lol! I did pick up a small tv for my daughter as she informed us the little 9 inch freebie she got years ago from my Dad finally died in her room. I'll hook this up tomorrow too! It was on sale and it's pretty small, but a lot better than the old one.
Tardis is ready and all rounds are on me tonight men! Let's get it going!
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Started out low 40's and cloudy today. Winds from the west all day and the temperature is now in the teens and falling. Supposed to get into single digits tonight. Put the trickle charger on the Aspen tonight to encourage starting tomorrow morning.
Doug - sorry to hear about your dad. We went through that about a year ago. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
My wife got another steroid injection in her back today - different spot. Not sure if that is good news or not. She is about going crazy with the lifting restrictions she is on. This is a good thing, as it means she is starting to feel a little better. I have to keep reminding her to take it easy.
Did some research last night on traction tires for the Polar Express Berk. Jr. Lionel parts lists them for $1.50 or $2.00 depending on which parts list you happen to find, and Train Tender is selling them for 40 cents each. I know, they are probably not genuine Lionel service parts, but they will be functional. Not putting in a plug for either vendor, just reporting facts as I discovered them.
Later, all.
WELCOME TOM
Wow temp soared to 43 today. But of course we all know what happens next. The brown truck finally found my house so I have some new toys to play with. And a package from the bay. So my two preorders at Wild Bills is all I am waiting for now. Lazed today and I am ready for the thingy with banilla...S.J.
Doug, sorry to hear your Dad is nearing the end of his race. I'm sure that you will have a good eulogy.
Prayers for you and your family.
Welcome Tom! Uh oh, hope that Iowa weather skips over Illinois. Finished Christmas shopping - I hope. Good lunch with our pastor - he picked up the tab! Have to start pondering what I'm going to prepare for my dad's eulogy. Some of you know he's been in a nursing home out in Conn. with dementia for quite a number of years - he's entering hospice now, not sure how long he has - hope (candidly) it's after Christmas. In happier news, I got to run the 248 and its cars today - first time they had a chance to stretch their legs in a long time!
