Welcome Tom!  We have a few of those guys who lost the prototypical 3rd rail around hereWink  I don't have a suggestion about the number boards, but I am sure one of the guys here can give you some ideas.

Chief, good to have you back to defend your honor.  Was actually pretty warm today.  Then we got dumped on by the rains again.  Ground is well saturated.  Probably end up as the white stuff when it heads North.

Heading up to work on the layout.  Still a little of the crud hanging on, but I feel much better than yesterday.  Have to spray a little more "Great Stuff" and also do some shaping of some pink foam to make a retaining wall.

Son came home from school and had to give out his Christmas presents to the family.  Couldn't keep it till next week.  I of course came home late and he ambushed me with my present.  A football and a pen that has a measuring tape on the back.  Could be handy.  Anyway, it was nice to see his excitement.

Have a good night,
Dennis

Home on the range again.  Really "lazied" out.  Did sand one window cornace, paint it and put it up over the last window in living room.  Sold the monster TV and replaced it with nice flat screen.  Had to hook it up.  Lucy and I slept and watched TV during the rain. Sleepy Came back in middle of the afternoon.  Beavers had half built a dam while I was gone. Banged Head Now it is gone. Whistling Then had Town Hall "duty" to do.

Called Jon Frost, no answer.  Guess his "igloo" blew across the plains.  [what you get for picking on us Southerners].Laugh

Tom,

Sign - Welcome I am glad that we have another Flyer guy with us now. Sturgeon Phish (Jim S.) got me addicted to Flyer thanks to the pics that he posts, and now I can't stop buying. I just got a 332AC in November, which is similar to your 21139. Does your 21139 run fast? I want to install the large motor like what came in the 21139 into my 332AC, and I've been searching for feedback from the owners of 336, 21139, and 21140 Northerns.  Doug at Portlines has the number boards. Both myself and Sturgeon Phish have nothing but great things to say about Doug.  Here is a link.

 Sign - Welcome Tom.

Jon - Chili always sounds good on a blustery day. I'll but your chili is a notch or two above the ordinary. Where was that excellent customer service? Sounds like Best Buy. Speaking of the Chief, we haven't heard from him in a few days. Guess he must have laryngitis!

Who the heck left the door open to Canada & Alaska!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Holy Cow ..... I drove over to the Y and got my workout in and while I was there we had a mini blizzard and I'm not kidding.  Could barely see the parking lot from the 2nd level so I just kept on working out as my truck is a 4 X 4 and all I needed to do was pick one thing up in Des Moines and then head home.  By the time I was done it had stopped snowing but not the wind and then the temps took a nose dive, could be a L O N G winter, YES!

Here's the deal of the day: last year our gift to each other was a new flat screen TV w/Blu Ray and 7.1 surround sound (our old set was 16 years old and tiny) but we had audio problems when watching movies with the new player.  After many conversations with "over seas" techs and no solutions I simply called the place where we bought it and shared my concerns ......... they said just bring it back and we will give you full credit or cash, superior customer service!  Stopped there this AM and picked up a brand new Blu Ray with even more features for $75.00 less than I paid a year ago Thumbs Up  With that savings I think Sharyl will be getting a new box car for Christmas Cool

Chilli is simmering as I type, windchills well below zero tonight.  I suppose the Roseyville Rascal has his truck windows down again Banged Head  Then he wonders why he catches a cold ........  I'm sure riding in that convertible helped out also Laugh

Buckeye--I really enjoyed seeing your Grandson watching the Polar Express on the SPF!

Good Afternoon,

Going up to the 80's again today down here in south Florida, almost feels like summer is still here! Supposed to tie or break a temp record by friday and then cool off a few degrees by late friday.

Looks like Sandy Claws(the tomcat with sand between his toes) will be filling in for Santa Claus this far south, because if Santa comes down here he may get heat stroke.

Cleaned up the RV some more this morning, cleaned light fixtures and a few mirrors, also fixed a door hinge so the door will open properly. Took a lot of trash out and will have to go to haz-mat to dispose of propane cylinders for an old gas grill that was left. Also removed the DirecTV dish from the outside wall that the rentor had hooked up, he is now gone for four full days.

Good Morning

Was 65 this AM 97% humidity going to 80+ later.  It’s December-go figure Banged Head

Did you EVER realize how many FOOD commercials there are?  Now that I’m on this bland diet, man, I wish I could have a hamburger....

Got the majority of the layout done, need to wire up momentary switches for the gate man and the crossing gate.  Then wire up some lights in the buildings.

Sun is just now breaking through the clouds....not much  else going on right now.

I’ll see about getting the lights on the house tonight.  I’m gonna make it simple, just too much other stuff interfering with my Christmas joy..

Check ya later!

Aloha all. Grey and warmish this morn - above freezing at least. Helped the neighbor lady clear the bottom of her driveway before it all freezes later today. Cleared the sidewalks. Battled with the teen getting him out the door to school. Sounds like a normal morn. Supposed to meet the pastor to go over budget things at lunch, and maybe wrap up the last Christmas gift for the bride.

Mike,

Did you take any pics of the layout?

John B.,

             Happy B-Day

Rich,

Hope you feel better soon. I ate an undercooked burger and got food poisioning several years ago, and I remember how nasty that can be.

Not much planned for today. I am going to Best Buy to look at blu-ray players, and also to get the blu-ray version of A Christmas Story.Big Smile I put a bid on the Super Motor that I've been watching, and it doubled. Not good. Oh well, if I lose it I'll call Doug tomorrow and order a repro. There is a guy selling originals for $140 each, but they are untested. I am not comfortable with that.

Good Morning !

Had a great weekend preparing for Christmas. It culminated with two of the children, their spouses and six grandchildren over for Sunday turkey dinner. No trains. Rather they were interested with many star wars items I discovered while cleaning.

Have a safe and blessed week.

So you got Tardis back Brutus? and Santa's recovered his Reindeer.

Thanks for the kind thoughts guys, still feeling dizzy, tried a drop of Robbies last night.

My favourite niece gave me a great book 'Grumpy Old Men' (ISBN 978-0-00-718993-9). I don't know if it is available over the pond, but for those of us who are totally p***ed off with the world and its idiotic inhabitants, this has to sum it all up and encapsulate our sentiments.

Oh!! How I dread Christmas....

Thanks guys Smile  Yep, she already took over the tv - yikes!  I still need to redo the stereo - took everything out of the old entertainment center and tore it down - too big to move or sell to anyone, they would need a full size moving truck to get it.  I'll salvage it for the shelves and some hardware, but really it was just pressboard.  Came apart a lot easier than it went together 15 years ago!

JimSP - yes, I know Paul's writings on this issue and you are right, he needs a better talk than the ones he has gotten at school Thumbs Up

Prayers for all to get better, be healthy, and for jobs and insurance problems.

Happy birthday John Baker - hope you had a good one.

Tardis is ready and I see some beacons are still lit, so better hit the road!

 Good Evening..

Happy B-Day  John Bakeer!!!

Just about finished the "other" layout, but he needs it tomorrow, so I'll deliver it and fins up the small stuff

Thursday or Friday.  Hope to decorate the outside during the week.

Up to 80 today, yesterday way low 70's day before barely crawled into the 60's --- go figure.

Have a good night - just finished 6 slices of toast and chick broth - yum.

OH YEA,

STUR-FISH, yep I try to keep my powder dry.  You forgot to say, " WATCH YOU TOPKNOT".  From the greatest Mountainman movie ever........  JERIMIAH JOHNSON.

BUCKEYE,  kidos make the cutting boards out of a variety of hardwoods.  Oak, Cherry, Maple, Walnut, Poplar we use and they have to design their own board.  Board size must be no smaller the 12x 16 inches and must be no less then 1.25 inches thick.  We only charge them $2.00 for their cutting board.  Great price.

Good evening all,

It is cloudy in SE Indiana, but it was a busy day.  Got my hair cut before church.  I had the regular fare on the dining car for breakfast.  After church, went to Batesville to see S-gauge layout at their library, went to the local historical society for their open house, went to the local high school band holiday show, and finished by seeing a local O-gauge modular display as well.  Busy day.  Brutus, be happy to drive tonight.  SJ, congrats on 3000 posts.  Happy birthday, John Bakeer!  I hope everyone has a good day.

Good Afternoon,

Been busy trying to sell the RV, have to get it cleaned up first then I can sell it. Also riding lawn mower(John Deere L110) broke down on tuesday afternoon, at first I thought it was the distributor, so I replaced it but after trying to start the mower again fuel poureed out of the exhaust pipe. Put a new carburater on it as well, now it runs good, after spending almost $200.00 on it and that is just for the parts as I replaced them myself.

Missed the train show on saturday in West Palm Beach FL, was too busy. May go to train show in January, have to see how things go.

I might swap over my second track to an MTH Z1000 instead of using the post war ZW with external circuit breakers for my MTH engines, I have the transformer sitting around since this summer from a train show.

John, Happy Birthday!  Hope you are able to enjoy it with good friends at your side.
Jim, I like to use small balloons over the muzzle of the weapon to keep the rain out.  This way, you can shoot right through it if you don't have the presence of mind to remove it before shooting.
Laz, I made a cutting board in the shape of a dog bone as my first project.  Dad still has it at the house.  I believe it was with Poplar and Mahogany in two inch strips that I joined, glued together, then used the band saw to cut the shape and the router to make the drip edge along the length.  Probably a good time to add butcher's wax to it.

Did a whole lot of nothing today.  Really miss not being at church.  Said prayers and had my quiet/reading time, but it is not the same.  Have quite a bit to do for the upcoming movie, so I hope to get some of that accomplished this week.  Also want to get some trains running on the layout for this coming weekend with the guests coming.  Most of the track is taped over to protect from my scenery attempts.

GREG M.  nice cutting board.  Glad you used plug cutting instead of dowel.  Looks alot better.  I teach our HS kids to make a cutting board as their first project.  They get to use all the tools and get all the reps they need to feell comfortable on jointer, planer, and table saw.  I feel the more reps you get on these pieces of equipment the better off and more comfortable they will be on it.  Well done!

I don't know much about cutting boards, but I purchased one for Mrs. Buckeye in the shape of fish at a country store near Logan, Ohio.  They took strips of wood glued them together did all the sanding and shaping and charged me $35.00.

Good afternoon all

Sorry for not getting the SPF going this morning.  Photobucket is not wanting to play.  I'l try later.

Buckeye - Be sure and warm up before hitting the curld too hard.

Jim - Great news on the 342, it is fun to watch.

Laz- Keep your powder dry!  Ever use a finger protector thingy over the muzzle?  Dennis probably knows the correct name.

SJ- Congrats on the milestone!

Jim F - When the baby starts dating you begin to feel you age real fast.  A good read for the kids and parents of dating age kids is John Paul II writing on Theology of the Body.  We are using it as the base of our Sunday School for the teens.

Going to go.  I'll check back later.  Maybe the bucket will work for me.

May God bless

Jim
