Another beautiful day here on the mountain. About to start snaking out like a 100' feet X 10 or so wires, some of 'em durn big. Wish us luck.

Fife - I didn't even catch the photon-fun the first time. Must still be adjusting to the altitude:)

Well off to start climbing around the telescope.

Sorry about the cars fellas. I was neck deep in stuff from work and home and got a bit behind. I have photos of Doug's inspection car and Jon's JD car to post as soon as I get a few minutes. I haven't received word on the next shipment from NC.

---
Been off and on for the past few weeks and not sure when I'll be back on here on a more regular basis. York is not looking good for me unfortunately. I will make it to dinner on Thursday if someone can let me know when and where. The sunroom/screened porch project is taking a lot more time and money than I would have hoped, and my vacation time is dwindling... just too much 'Life' I guess. Sure do need a vacation... from work, from home, etc.

probe - better still was the dumb crook who broke into a police officer's house...now suffering from lead poisoning.

jonadel - I think we are a month behind.  Ehh, things happen.  Don B has Kurt's car now.  Jefelectric just got two.  Nothing on my pike at the moment.

Hello all,

Just a quick check in on my friends during lunch.  Not sure what the weather is like outside, no outside access from here.

Thank you for the condolences for the loss of my friend.  I have no doubt she is in the presence of the Lord, but her family misses her desperately.

Won another car off fleabay; a 23743 Track Maintenance Car.  I had one already but this one is in better shape.  I am not into boxes but it even had the clearpack box.  Maybe at some time I will get time for some new pictures.  I am preaching this weekend and the homily is still in rough draft so there are a few hours in an already crowded week.

May God bless

Jim

Fife,

Did you hear about the college student in your and 88's area who took matters into his own hands when someone broke into his garage?Thumbs Up I read the news story online yesterday.

Jim,

Sorry to hear about your friend.

Bob,

I replied to your PM.  If you talk to your brother, ask him if there is a strong gas smell when the car runs. If there is, it is a very easy fix.

I got more work done on the layout yesterday, and I have a very sore back today. I got the elevated tracks done, so I am going to start on scenery asap. The Flyer 21166 that I got on ebay finally arrived, and I will be opening the box shortly.

Fife--there seems to a clog in the artery of the car exchange, someone is sitting on 2 and possibly 3 cars that need to be sent on.  I don't have one, Don B. doesn't have one and apparently you don't either, hmmmmmmm.

Good Morning

Cooler but sun is shining.

Well we rode home with Doug M. last nite but the local transit changed their website and I could not find the route. Good ride anyway. Big breakfast this morning means a walk and no lunch. Hmm wonder whats for supper:). I guess I will preorder the Strasburg Docksider even though they do not have one, I like the little RR. Have a great day...S.J.

fife,

your photonic humor brought a smile to my face. Smile

BTW, there is a rumor going around about a special delivery here on the Blue Board Central.  The Old Guys down at the coffee shop have been talking about it all week.  I took some photons that I am sure you will enjoy seeing on SPF.

Have a great day folks.

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 80s again.  What a difference a week makes.  Although the scores do not reflect it, "my" soccer girls displayed great effort and improvement in play last night.  The JV lost 7-0 and the varsity 4-0 to  a top 20 team in the state.  I was really really proud of the effort and intensity they showed.  If they can bring this level of play to their remaining games, they may salvage something from this season yet.  I had an extra donut on the dining car for breakfast this morning before sending it to "Points East".  I think we picked up everybody that was on the scope last night.  It is amazing what else that scanner shows (most of which I cannot mention here :-) ), but as they say in Vegas, "What happens on the Tardis, stays on the Tardis!"  If I am not needed in the driver's seat, I will gladly "navigate".  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Forgot to tell ya, I also picked up the new LIONEL CATALOG yesterday at BARRYs TRAIN SHOP.  Nice stuff especially the Heritage series of the NORFOLK SOUTHERN SERIES with the PRR SD70s and the NS BLUE SD70.  Real nice.  Also the little TRACKMOBILES are real cool but at $299, MSRP wow don't know bout that one.  Pick one up or go to LIONEL.com and check it out.

Another nice day here on the hill. We are building a weight cage so we can compenate for the missing subreflector. Should be able to move this thing again for the first time in almost 3 months tomorrow.

8ntruck - seen the "demotivator" posters? My favorite is the one about meetings that says "None of us is as dumb as all of us".

Pat - funny how you start receiving all kinds of stuff once you subscribe to a magazine. A lot of it is interesting but I didn't know the railroads were soliciting. I did find a nice calender the Nevada Northern is selling on the bay the last time I was on their web site, but it is a long haul for you to visit.

Well off to chase down some wires. We are pulling out all the unused wires going to the secondary while the subreflector assembly is off. Should be very entertaining.

Mostly cloudy and high 70's today.  Wind still out of the east.  Wind from that direction just does not seem right.

Had my performance appraisal at work today.  Management agreed with how well I thought I was doing.  Strange one this year - changed bosses and the company filed chapter 11.  Looks like my job will be spending more time working with tooling build and development to support new product launches.  Ought to be interesting.  The real challange will be not choking the decision makers when they use up perfectly good tool build time by not making decisions early in the project. This will mean more meetings too.  I'll need to put a cue card in my pocket - "KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT" - and refer to it often during said meetings.

Brutus - I've been using a different computer lately that I haven't loaded the proper software onto to participate in the chats yet.  It is on the to do list.  I've got a couple other things to put in place first as the wireless network we've recently added at home is not as stable as I'd like.

Later all.

Patrick - I did visit Mt. Rushmore several years back.  The bus didn't get around the back side of the mountain, though.....

Howdy guys!  Well, got home, ate dinner, and woke up about 7 - yikes, guess I needed to reclinerize!  Nice chats just now with Sir James and Doug "Riding the Rails" Murphy!  Watching Stand By Me - lots of train stuff of course.  Great movie and story.

Patrick - Laugh

Tardis is ready and I think Patrick, it's your turn to drive!  We need to hover in close and quiet to pick up Kurt, Doug should be home soon and Sir James has promised banilla.  For RT, we'll have to use the wayback circuit, lol!  Mike, you take the screen and make sure we don't miss anyone, okay?  Let's go!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Evening all from beautiful Southern Ohio

Kids are bathed and in bed.  I took today off to attend the funeral of a friend in Mount Vernon.  Really special person.  She was 46, leaves behind 6 kids and a great husband.  She had an incredible faith that only got stronger as she fought cancer for the past year.  She was a real inspiration.

Swung by Smoke Stack in Lancaster on the way home.  They had a few AF cars, but they were too rough for the asking price.

I am going to do a little reading then get caught up on some sleep.

May God bless

Jim

My son and I were riding through that area in June ... we missed it Question  Dang, guess we need to go back.  Although we did see Crazy Horse which is incredible, I don't think we'll see that completed in my life time or even my son's.

Doug, the Lionel clock says you still have one day and one hour before it is online.  So wait till tomorrow. On the other hand the catalogs are already arriving at the stores.

Aloha. First class tonight. Went to a 'breakfast mtg' on more of a whim and found myself on the program. Serves me right for pursuing free food. Long eve last night on church advisory council - going over all the under-the-rug stuff. Looking forward to perusing the Lionel catalog (if it's online) during lunch.

Good Morning

Sunny and low 80s today. Could be the last of the 80s.

I have spent some time with the new Lionel catalog and i'm not sure what direction they are going. There are hi's and low's but also a lot missing. Maybe this one is for the non train christmas shopper.

Well retired and no plans for the day so I will wing it. ...S.J.
