Bob - good deal on the hardware store certs, love gift certs to hardware stores Thumbs Up

Doug - How cool!  I think you once posted a pic of that section of the railroad from the top of a nearby building?  Still have that pic?  I used to have it as my background pic at work Smile

Jack - DMV was quick and painless Thumbs Up

Well, I finished Thomas, although I had the motor wires backwards - took 5 minutes to fix that.  Here is a pic of the installed and complete board:

The tether is not too stiff now, but I had to remove the wire for the whistle trigger.  I need to find some narrower gauge stranded wire and redo the tether I guess.  With the 4 wires alone, it works fine though.  I got an email from ERR with instructions for this whistle, so I might upgrade the upgrade, mayeb this weekend?  In the meantime, I set it up as engine 2 and played with it and my A5 on the same loop of track for a while today - good fun!  Here is a demo of the engine running:

Evening all from beautiful Southern Ohio

It was beautiful today!  I tool this week off and helped Fr. Matt pack up Sunday and leave and helped our “new” priest Fr. Joe unload yesterday and today.  I am looking forward to developing a new relationship with him as we will be working very closely together.

I have been working with the grandkids to ride a two wheeler.  They are doing  good.  No blood yet!

DougM – That little visitor looks even smaller next to G gauge!

Fife – I can identify.  An added perk I never thought of when we got the truck camper is you don’t have to buy tags!  That is $38 a year for .  .  .  . trains!

Brent – Brother in law adopted a little boy and he is a true blessing and may God bless his natural mother for not taking the easy way out.

May God bless

Jim

Had a little fun on the shopping spree. Not much auto or train stuff but got some more things to use around the house. The few garden tools that have either worn out or been given away over the years. Finally decided to replace my dad's old antique shop vac. Now needs hose # 3 anyway and someone who borrowed it cut the ground off and the cord is wearing out anyway. Normally I would fix all this, but I figure after spending more on it than a new one the motor would prob finally give out.

More lab work back today that they did last time I was in. Nothing, nada, zip. And even though peanut butter is on the doc ok'd list it's apparently not and I even have the all natural stuff. Seems to set me off a bit each time I eat it. The group that schedules the class seems to be having communications issues. Alas. I'll call the doc tomorrow and see where we go from here. I did hear from the hospital than Visit #1 is now settled financially. I just had to pay the copays for the ER visits, so I can't complain there. Visit #2 is still in process. No ambulance rides that time, but I'm sure the angiogram wasn't cheap.

Brutus - Looking good! If I ever get into TMCC thought it might be fun to try installing it in some of the older equipment. Would be an interesting blend of electronics and antiques. Wouldn't really want to put it into something pristine, but most of my stuff is either fairly common and average condition. Let us know what you decide on the whistle.

Hope all the mods to the Tardis don't send it to Ludicrous Speed (for those Spaceballs fans out there)

Mornin' Fellas.

Thanks for all the replies on the kid front. It is nice to have a group of friends who share their experiences and not pass judgement.

Fife - it may be a huge project, but it would be cool! LOL!

Doug - I wonder how much they spent building that model... makes one wonder...

Jack - I'm really looking forward to completing the sunroom and screened porch. I've been going over the plans and I think I've found a couple areas for improvement, will discuss with the carpenter when he is comes out today or tomorrow. Got started last night by removing a section of retaining wall that was used as a 4" high flower bed around the deck. I'm not sure I'll be able to reuse any of the stones because they used construction adheasive to bond the rows together (these are really small landscaping stones). I may try to chip the adheasive away and just stack the stones, then when I do the hardscaping replace them all with nicer stones.

So next weekend I should be able to use my garage stall for the first time in 2 months! Thumbs Up Smile

Brutus,  looks good.  For tethers try going to a hobby shop that has RC airplane supplies.  I've found the harnesses used for servos, etc. work well.

Good morning all,

It is cloudy and rain is on the way in SE Indiana.  I practiced with "my" soccer girls and did weights at the YMCA.  Ran the Alaskan docksider for the grandkids and did some outside activities with them.  These two combined are not nearly demanding in terms of energy as the other grandson alone.  Last game of the regular season tonight, weather permitting.  I had the regular fare on the dining car for breakfast.  Beacon is lit, but the weather may be rough so the stabilizers better get full power on the Tardis tonight.  Do not want Don's neighbor to fall and hurt herself.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Mornin’ guys!

Really slammed here at the Auto Palace.  Due to cost over-runs, I have to backtrack our costs and document them.  It really was an accounting error on out vendors’ part(s), but I guess I have to pay the price.  Geez, you’d think they’d want to get paid in a timely manner!Banged Head

I was cleaning the train room and found a plastic storage box with a bunch of PW rolling stock I had forgotten I had put away.  And I have a bunch more laying around, and more I haven’t seen yet (in boxes).  If and when I move to the bigger room, I’m gonna have to make sure it’s either stored or displayed.   Separated the Marx stuff I got and the Lionel.  I am contemplating selling off the Marx, but not sure yet.

I drew out a small rail yard using a 72 degree switchable wye and 1 (each) left and right switches, which would give me 4 storage tracks.  Pieced it together on the floor and it looks pretty good.

Jon & Kurt – was out riding Saturday and stopped by the BIG HD center in town, almost got a ’98 Fat Boy, but the financing number just weren’t in my area code.  Would have been nice, but I like my payments right now (just not my seat...).  Got 44 MPG on the ‘ol Sporty and I wasn’t even trying!!

Got cauth in the rain too, felt like needles hittin my chest (had the full face helmet on).

Been debating on going to Orlando for the BIG train show, not sure I want to drive 2 hours each way....there are BIKE things to do locally.

See ya inna bit!
Rich

Try to not get caught in hail, needles in the chest would be much more pleasant Black Eye

Lots of lawn work to get done today before I leave early tomorrow for a lovely weekend on the back roads of Wisconsin with about 150 of my good friends Thumbs Up  I think the gettin' ready is the hardest part, always one more thing to do Banged Head  The forecast is great, cool temps with low humidity, YES!  Fife you should pull the ship up to Lake Peppin---lots of great sailing there, I really enjoy hanging around the harbor in Lake City if we lived a little closer to that harbor ............. Time to get busy.

Good Morning

Sunny now but rain expected coming from the west. After that we are in the clear. No plans today, first day in over a week, maybe some train running. I have my mind on an NYC ABA that has not had a workout for some time now. Have a great day.

Morning all!

Brutus:  Great Job!  Thanks for sharing.

Patrick:  Prayers for your health.

Jon & Rich:  Thanks for the e-mails!

Working around the house today!  Taught 4-yo to throw frisbee yesterday!  She's good at it too, but afraid to catch it...it keeps hitting her in the shins.  Today we'll put her shin guards on that she never used.

New battery in the Barbie 4x4 we received from neighbors.  Kids ran it all day long, and went around the block in it.  4-yo said she needs a kid motorcycle...Confused  I reminded her we paid as much as 2-video games for the 4x4 battery, and she needs to ride her bike w/o training wheels first.  I bought a 2-hour charger as well.  Normally it takes 18-hours to fully charge the battery...not very practical.

Sorry to hear about the zoo funding.  They cut the Detroit Institute of Arts funding here awhile ago, and it was picked-up by private citizens.

Aloha. A bit late checking in due to the normal office hysteria that is associated with a few key people calling in sick. Those Chicago buildings diorama were 'rapid protoyped' in about 20 hours! The modeling house had to work up schematics in Google Sketch-up because they didn't exist. Brent, sponsors abounded so I'll bet it was expensive. Brutus, great work on Thomas. Here's today's office view - that's the main Chicago library.

Not much going on today for me. I had to run to the bank and post office this morning to get a money order. I finally found a stock cd player for the Probe that came out of a 96 GT. The owner upgraded to an aftermarket deck, so I bought his original that he removed. I spent last night fixing some rust on top of the radiator support and polishing the front valve cover. If the guys who rebuilt the transmission didn't leave the car outside with the hood off, I wouldn't have to do this.Angry I still haven't started any benchwork, but I don't feel like doing that during summer anyway. I might go fishing later.

Afternoon all,

I'm watching two of the kids today, the third is going for a doctor visit.  It is the oldest girl and she cannot seem to shake a Unarary Track Infection that just keeps coming back.

The kids "helped" me work on the truck this morning.  A mouse chewed through the hose for the winshield washer.  The repair involved removing one of the batteries to get to the washer resorvior, then a trip to Ace Hardware.  Just finished lunch and after lunch settles we'll work in the yard.

Check back later

May God bless

Good Evening

Well the rain we were hoping for disappeared somewhere between Chicago and Detroit. It  never got here..83 right now.

I am going out for awhile but Brutus knows where the key is, although he tends to be forgetful  sometimes. So help yourself to the banilla but not the trains....S.J.

Good evening everyone.  Charlie a belated Happy Birthday!

Where do I start?

Wes....Have you received the car?

Work.....We are busy!  We had an out of the blue phone call to do an assessment of the damage to roadways in an adjacent county by a pipeline construction company.  Any day now, I expect a call from the mayor of Raleigh to build a dam and flood Roseyville.   Laugh

Home.....We had a small gathering of the neighbors on the deck to meet the new grandson.

Boat.....Had it out the first time this year and runs like a rabbit across the lake.

Lake...House done.

Vacation....Going on one to Michigan for the Train Festival.

Weather......This is why we moved to Ohio for the great weather!  High of 80 with low humidity.  Sure beats that hot crap in NC swamps.

New projects....Fix Blueberry's water system.

Recent train purchases.....Nothing new.  Looking forward to YORK.

Train news.....Ran garden railroad for the party.

Medical....After several postponements, kidney stone blast next week.  Would rather have a root canal.

Brutus...Prayers for you and your wife.

88....Tell Susieq that her boy Buckeye says hello and give her a big kiss.

Question:  Has anyone used Rustoleum's Garage Floor Paint?

I found a car on my front stoop today...

Work has been interesting.  My boss resigned last week, moving to Nashville.  I haven't been told who my new boss is, or if I will be the new boss of my group.  Pretty loose company I work for, indeed!

Our air conditioner at work (server room) keeps shutting down.  The compressor just stops running, and with the amount of gear we have in there, it raises a degree a minute.  It's been going on almost every night for the past 3 weeks.  Our AC maintenance guys can't seem to figure it out.  There is nothing like getting a call at 3 am that you need to go into work.  I already have racked up 2 days of comp time.  Taking one tomorrow to work on cleaning out the garage.  That's the last of the major projects.

Wow - almost forgot to post on here!  Was headed to bed and thought, what did I forget?

Thanks for the prayers!  Wife will get another transfusion tomorrow.  Had to get a new battery for the camera - finger wasn't slipping off the button, the battery was dead!  Wow - $43 for a Kodak battery!  I stopped at a local hobby store in Arnold, but they did not have any good wire for me.  I'll try another one tomorrow, a little further away.  Nice chatting tonight with RT, SJ, and Charlie.  We'll be getting some nicer weather here soon - night time temps are going to be in the 50's and low 60's!

Tardis is ready and I see a lot of beacons so better get started!  Banilla sounds great!

Buckeye Laugh  Good luck on the dam project!

Another warm one here, but a fair bit of clouds today. Hopefully some more rain in the future. Not much else going on today. Just mostly hanging out and reading. Today has been less than a good day physically. And food than has been ok before seems to be setting me off now. My surgeon friend said something interesting tonight: "If you hear hoofbeats and you can't find any horses, it's time to start looking for zebra's". She may be right. Just got back from the used bookstore a few blocks away (to look for books on what supposedly I can eat) and it took just about all I had.

Brutus - continued prayers for the wife and hope everything goes well

Buckeye - sonic removal of a kidney stone? Never had that done, but have had them. Part of the price of being a geologist in the southwest I think, but none recently thankfully. I guess working in astronomy has its advantages.

Sturgeon - when do you take your big trip w/ the "new" camper and the truck?

cnwdoug- that's quite the view you've got there and was glad to see the windows still present

Time to go crash out for a bit. Good night all.

Morning all.  Got a few big cases today and one of the guys is on vacation.  that being said, it will be a busy one for me.  I have been very busy with the layout lately.  Jon, my bride has been taking photos, so I will post when I get the chance.

Got consulted on another movie that will be shot in October.  Just going to provide some information, not going to be too involved as this one is not with the church.  Also have another one in the works, but will have to wait to discuss.

Wife and kids were so tired yesterday after spending the day bowling, playing at the fun park, and swimming.  Worked out well as it gave me some time to work on the layout without "help".  I love my kids, and love that they are involved in the trains, but I do make more progress on my own.  I of course, would not discourage them from helping...want to keep it a family project and activity.

I hope that everyone has a great day.  Prayers out to Brutus' wife, and Bob (hope they get things nailed down soon for you), God Bless,
Dennis

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 80s.  It was hot and humid at the game last night.  Well, my streak of shut out appearances as a goalie came to a screeching halt last night as one of the opposition slipped by the defense and had me one on one.  I got a glove on it, but that was about it as it hit the back of the net. We manged to escape with a tie, and combined with a loss by another team, elevated us to fourth (out of eight) in the final regular season standings with a 3-3-2 record.  Bad news is that we play this same team again in the first round of the tourney.  I cannot say I like our chances right now.  No new injuries, but bruise from last week's activity is starting to show up.  Wife and granddaughter had a busy day yesterday, but both were tired and crnaky by the time I got home.  Also did weights at YMCA as well.  Dennis, looking forward to hearing more about your movie projects.  If there are any scenes calling for aging soccer players.....contact David Beckham :-)  I had the regular fare on the dining car for breakfast this morning.  Beacon is lit after a relatively placid drive last night.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Aloha. Beautiful day here. Can't load Messenger so far on the new phone, Brutus, so I am missing chatting with the gang. Buckeye, I've used that Rustoleum on the garage floor about a year or two ago. It seems to work. Worn a bit at the end but that's probably my painting than the paint itself. Sealed well. Expensive. Might take the youngest to the beach later. Sir J, cool weather heading your way.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a sunny 72 degrees. Humid. Going up to 88 today, with a chance of rain later.

Today is a busy day. Wife is going grocery shopping. She loves that job. LOL

Gas is at $2.39 a gallon in Cambridge.  $2.69 in Caldwell. 15 miles apart.

Yesterday was a mess. No water for 6 hours. Water Dept. could not find the problem. So, they said the hell with it and went home. I got the Supervisor on the phone and told him he had 200 homes and 3 dairy farms without water. He called in a crew and they finally found a huge leak along the main highway. Repaired about 8 pm last night.  I think Buckeye was the one that found the leak.

Dining car was here for the usual breakfast.

Y'all have a great Thursday.

Good Morning

Sun and 80s today, Just got back from a newer Target store. I shall return to the older ones. Some idiot set up the handicap parking so that anything near the store doors is half a block away for everyone else. All the parking spaces  in front of or near the store were empty because of the HC signs.SoapBox

No big plans for the day except Charlie might stop by on his way home. Always look forward to his visits...S.J.

Mornin guys!

Buckeye:

Question:  Has anyone used Rustoleum's Garage Floor Paint?

Yup, been on the floor 7 years and only had a couple of “lift offs”, as I like to clean up with carb cleaner.  worked out OK I think...!!Smile,Wink, & Grin

Going up to 91 again today, good think I wasn’t biking yesterday or I would have been drenched (pass the soap).  Same scenario for today, alledgedly...Banged HeadPirate

Not much on the train front today, spent most of my train time at work, looking for a lost file.  Found it this morning with some help.  Good thing – 3 days worth of work was gone.WhistlingBanged Head

Other than that – Bike night at the BIG dealership tomorrow night, may have to attend..Whistling

See ya later!

Chuck -Good to have dairy farms near you. They use a lot of water and would get a quick response from the water company. I am surprised though that they are not on their own wells.

SJ - You are clever at creating Decals. What about creating your own handicap parking Decal?Whistling

Anyone heard from Spank? Unless I missed his post, it's been several weeks. Spank, are you in VA or NJ? How is the viaduct coming?Confused

I have been working on a second level for part of the train layout, having one train and one trolley track. Will have pictures eventually.

Heading to Cumberland tomorrow for a B&B vacation with The 'Q' and my parents. Saturday we are all having dinner on the Western Maryland Scenic RR where they are presenting a Murder Mystery! SOOOOO looking forward to this trip! Hope to have some pics to share on SPF.
