RT Said:

I do have a complete Kasey Kahne still factory sealed if you want it. let me know. ( its an extra one I have, I had gotten 4 total but using 3 at present. )

Thanks RT, but I have three cars of the Kasey Kahne set (expansion?) I checked and I have the empty double deck car carrier, flat car with the HO size car and the flat car with the hauler on it. I would be interested in your extra set if I didn't have two or three of the set. Any other NASCAR you want to sell?Question

WE had a gloomy day that just reached 70. So I stayed in and gloomy too. Not a big news day at this house so I shall grab the banilla and wait on the porch....S.J.

Good evening all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 60s.  Worked on cleaning out the barn and the shed.  Got rid of a bunch of stuff.  Swept the shed out as well and straightened out the workbench.  Saucy Wench and I went out to Chili's.  Had enough to carry home to make another meal tomorrow.  No F-1, no IRL, and not even NASCAR this weekend!  I might implode :-)  I had bacon and waffles on the dining car for breakfast.  Prayers going out to those who need them.  Beacon is lit and looks like the regulars will be aboard.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Back from Nephew's 21st Birthday party.  A pig picking [Yanks will not know that term].  Had some Yank stuck in the South call Miss Edna's today during hot dog time.  Now off to bed.  God bless.

Prayers for all indeed!

Also, I heard from a reliable source that Kurt has piles of food, beer, wine and soda left over from a big bbq so we will be heading there asap!

Nice chats with RT, Kurt and SJ tonight.  Watching The Blues Brothers with the family - what a great movie.  Pointed out that a lot of the old time rock and roll was really heavily influenced by the blues and my son and I were thinking of songs like that - rock songs that almost sound like blues songs, or really are blues songs with a little added guitar, lol!  Good conversation!

TTFN!

Good Morning all

Saturday was busy as usual.  Just now settling in.  I went ahead and started a SPF thread.  Morning will come too soon and I don't want to miss out on the fun like last week.

May God bless

Good Morning to all. Busy day yesterday cleaning up the garage. It looks so much better. The Mrs. is going out today so the dog and I will be on our own. I want to vacuum the cars and clean the car upholstery. I also want to clean up my work bench a bit then run some trains. Went to church last night. Take care. Mitch

Mornin' boys.  Mornin' English.  Continuing our string of gorgeous weather here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Heading down to the dock shortly to meet with an engine guru who will look things over and give me some tips.  Then should be shoving off around 1300 hrs for the afternoon.  Having to shoulder some heavy problems as of late, so I need some me-at-sea time.

Oh , if anyone's interested, I have this ok looking 9x13 layout downstairs, if one or more of you want to run trains...might want to clean the track first.

 Good Morning!

Thanks Fife for sharing your great weather with us here in Virginia.Bow

RT - I forgot there was two Spankys. It was DJ Spanky we hadn't heard from. Brutus sent me an email where DJSpanky said:

" I've been just incredibly busy at work the 4-6 weeks, plus I've had to run up to NJ a couple of times.  I don't have much of a chance to jump on the board right now, or to try to peruse the Coffee Pot.  Never fear, I'll be more involved once things slow down."

Chief - I hear "Pig Pickin" was invented in North Carolina back before the Civil War. Did you use the whole pig (Eastern  NC) or just the pig shoulders (Western NC)?Confused

What politicians need to do in an election year:

"To holler right, vote straight, and eat as much barbecue as any other man in the country."

Could the Yank stuck in the south be RT?Whistling

SJ - Nothing to do on Sat. and to many choises on Sun. Ain't that always the way?Smile,Wink, & Grin

Good morning Coffee Pot!  Man, nice cuppa this AM.  Was falling asleep in the recliiner last night so hit the hay early for me, around 11:30, for a Saturday anyway.

Well, going to a birthday party at 2, so hope to get some time in on Thomas when we get back.  Been up for an hour and can't wait on the family any more - gonna start making breakfast.  Biscuits, eggs and bacon on the menu.  Stop by if you are hungry guys!

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a cool and breezy 68 degrees. Going up to 76 today with partial sunshine.

Today is an easy day. We are taking it easy. I did a few chores and now, I am relaxing. Ball game later. It would be noice to see the Indians win one.

Dining car was here for the usual breakfast.

Y'all have a great Sunday.  I am enjoying SPF.

Nice and clear this morning. Gonna be a hot one today I think. So far the weekend hasn't been too bad for me. Hope it continues as such.

Dennis - thanks a million. Sounds like you had a busy week. Whenever you have a chance (and have had a break for yourself) just drop a line.

Charlie - Is that the #4449 coming thru? Haven't seen her since she came thru Phoenix as the AFT. One of the biologists on the mountain (they study the squirrels) moved up to Portland and learned more about 4449 and SP&S400(?) that she prob ever wanted to know:)

Jon - hope you had a good trip

Well, off to church in a bit and then I'm helping a friend hang a closet door. Be good to do something constructive. I'll check back in tonight.

Good Afternoon from beautiful Southern Ohio,

It is a clear sunny 70°F and low humidity.  Better enjoy it.  Just finished lunch after the services at the two parishes.  Our new priest is going to be a great fit I think.  We are so blessed!

Bob, the 303 is a nice little engine.  I am partial to the 302.  There are several versions.  Diecast boiler with metal tender, plastic boiler plastic tender, plastic boiler nad metal tender, simple side arms, side arms with eccentrics.  All SIT, and I think with the progression of link couplers.  Knuckles went on the 303.

Here is a wienermobile

Enjoy your Sunday

May God bless

Bob..Indeed it is the SP4449 coming through...Was going to try and get SJ and myself to Durand for the slated 4pm arrival.. however Amtrak bumbled the train exchange in Michigan City, IN (they were late from CUS by 4 hours) so its looking to be very late.  I'm going to keep watching for updates to see what time she's going to make Durand now..likley 8-9pm.

GPS on the Daylight is down so you can track her at www.twitter.com/sp4449

Afternoon.  Went to Sunday School [taught as teacher gone].  Went to Lowe's and then Lowes Foods.  Stopped by Bojangles for a bite.  Hot and humid.  Did get a rug for living room while at Lowe's.  Now living room has rug in the middle and hardwoods around the rest of the room.  Headed to pond to Roundup and do some cable repairs.  Got neighbor's son to help [he's 17].  Trains later.

Afternoon All.

It has been nothing but hot here, seems like the a/c has been runnin a lot. Sad

Needless to say nothing getting done outside but I did finish up somemore work on the military loads. Close to finishing them. Thumbs Up Also did some surfing on the Bay, found an item that Chief needs for his layout:

Yes, I realize the driver is a bit thinner. Wink It would also need a scale sized Lucy to ride around with him. Big Smile

Got some family visiting that will be heading back east tomorrow, so today some of the old family comfort food is on the agenda, buttermilk fried porkchops, mashed taters, steamed vegies & buttermilk biscuits with chocolate cake for desert. Chef Dinner

Later all, Angel for those who are in need.

Charlie - Hope ya get to see the #4449. Seeing her at night could be fun. We slept in our motorhome in the Phoenix Colisseum parking lot so we could get up in the wee hours of the morning to see her depart for the next stop. Then we chased her out of town. Dad recorded it. One of the runbys sounds pretty good, even for a cassette recorder from the mid 1970's.

Looks like the fuel pump and/or pressure regulator is going out in the jeep. Talk about timing. And my pressure tester is w/ one of our engineers who isn't answering his phone. Banged Head A buddy is going to drop his by later. It's not too bad of a job to drop the tank but I'll have to make sure I don't eat before I tackle this one. Pump assembly is like $250 alone. Ironically the original S.U pump for the MG is only $130 and a solid state one only $160. And I only need an empty jar to figure out whether one of those is working. New cars suck. As soon as the new engine in the B fires off the jeep is history.

Last week was busy.  A couple of long days at work, and helping the wife get ready for her last summer reading program that was last Wednesday.  By the time I sat down every night, I was bushed - usually ended up going to bed.

Took about an hour and a half to catch up on the Pot this afternoon.

Looks like there are improving outlooks on the various medical projects out there.  Continued prayers.

We had a couple of engineers from one of our plants in India visiting last week.  Interesting discussions. Just as interesting was trying to find sutable resturants with enough variety to accomidate their beefless and porkless diet in our booming metroplos of 20,000.  Needless to say the various BBQ places got crossed off of the list quickly.

This weekend has been just as busy.  Mowing, string trimming, etc., etc.  At least the weather is wonderful 70's with low humidity.  Even have a few roma tomatoes ripening.

Drove my wife to Columbia Saturday for her sewing class.  While she was in class, I stopped by Hobbytown USA.  They are in the final stages of a going out of business sale.  The owner was saying that he could not compete with on-line sales!?  Picked up some 027 track for half price.

Today is just as full.  Went to an afternoon show of OZ.  Kids play at the community theater.  Enjoyable show.  Looks like we will be catching the Harry Potter movie yet tonight too.

Later all.

Good evening

70s today, rain all around us, I could almost touch it. But none here. Missed SP4449 as it was running to late for Charlie to make the trip. He will see her next weekend. Train show, what can I say, overpriced stuff that gets hauled from show to show. I did get a new Williams B unit for my CP F3s $100. He said B/W is raising prices again. So slowly the one brand that was affordable is going along with the others. Had my banilla but saved some for youse guys. Come on thingy...S.J.

Ahoy maties! Pirate  Twas a good day on the bay.  Diesel doctor gave me little Yanmar the Thumbs Up...running good.  As we headed into our home port, a Norweigian cruise ship passed by...always cool.  Found a great little pirates den afterwards.  Feeling good now.

Good evening all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 70s.  Took it easy today.  Saucy wench and I went to see "Harry Potter".  Train scenes were the best.  Found out will not be doing trains at local historical society this year at Christmas time.  Some how relieved taking a year off.  Did not sleep well last night.  Ate too late at Chili's.  Had streusel for breakfast/lunch.  Beacon is lit.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Good evening everyone.  Quick stop by as it is time for bed.  Lots of action at church today, between two services and a meeting about scholarships for the Christian School that the church has.  Seems the state of Georgia has passed a law allowing folks to direct $2500 of their state income tax to a private school for a scholarship for kids who want to move to private from public schools.  Makes it easier for parents to have a choice where to send their kids.  Also allows for families with moderate means to be able to afford to send their kids to private school.

During lunch today, son lost his first tooth.  He had not wanted to let anyone mess with it, just let it fall out on its own.....it did, onto the floor of the restaurant we were eating at.  It was recovered for the visit of the tooth fairy tonight.

Jon, did not forget photos of progress on layout, just don't have the time right now to deal with it.  I will get them up though.

God Bless,

Dennis

SP4449 ended up being very very late to Durand, MI this evening.  She was supposed to be there at 4pm and made Durand around 8:30pm.  I checked twitter while at a birthday party and realized I still had a shot to see her since she was so late and the party was between home and Durand.  We politley excused ourselves from the party and headed for Durand.

Here are the kids waiting:

Here she is rolling through Durand on the way to TrainFestival:

Well the jeep ended up just being the distributor cap center contact going out. Was running a tad rough lately so I decided I'd pull the cap and check it out while I was there (this is prob one of the last vehicles built w/ a distributor). Cleaned up my spare since it looked to be the better of the two caps. Then fired right off. Thought it might have just not sat long enough, but the pressure checked out ok. Then sat at a friends later for 3 hours and still fired right off. I'll take an easy one right now.  I did treat it to 4 new plugs for being nice to me.

Ole Timer - always nice to see you and the cab forwards

Jon - looks like spankybirds SPF was checking out your bike wash

Off to start more tests in the morning. The great "zebra" hunt begins.

Happy 40th Anniversary of Neil and Buzz's little stroll BTW

Good morning all,

It is foggy and cool in SE Indiana with temps in the 70s today.  Did not sleep well or get much of it last night.  Only good thing is that work should be fairly quiet today.  I had streusel and cereal on the dining car for breakfast this morning before sending it to "Points East".  "Extras" are headed to "Points West" to help with Jim's wife, and "Points Further East" for Brent and Susie-Q.  Also special run is going to Submmbob as well.  Debating whether to try a Southern shipment as well.  May try short hauls to SW Georgia (DWeimer) and Virginia (Patrick) before long haul to Roseyville.  Beacon is lit for after soccer practice.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana
