RockIsland - My marina is guarded by wild floppy-earred white rabbits.  No need for "ballast" shifting.

Phish - 1) Get TCA membership form. 2) Send form to me. 3) Avoid non-member woes and embarrassing stigma.

Forgot to mention - #2 (literally)

Fresh water mixed with white vinegar (10 parts to 1) killed odor.

Stopping in for a quick bite of lunch, leftover grilled burger fritos and Molson.  Sam Adams getting too $$ since I'm saving up for York.  Sacrifices we make.

Jim T - The SIT locos have a fond spot for me in the way they can sit idle and smoke - too cool.  I've got  six or seven red 650s, that what is on the layout now, and 2 of the green 650s.  They are nice cars.  If you ever have trouble with the interior light blinking add a jumper wire from the pick up rivit to the lamp base.  Totally reversable and works real good.

Fife - I just may take you up on that.

Rich - I still have not mailed you the CTT exchange car.  I keep forgetting, must be something to do with busy sechedules and old age, at least that is my claim.

Going to the garden to wed.

May God bless

Jim

Jim,

I like the SIT for smoke output, but I feel that SIB requires less care and sounds better to me. I've got an SIT 312 from 1947, as well as the large number version SIB 312 from 1948. I like them both. How do you like the 322? Mine is missing the eccentric rod from the left side, but I could probably get one from a parts dealer.

A hearty GOOD Afternoon and TGIF!!!

Brutus – Great news!!! AWESOME NEWS!!BowThumbs Up

Jim Phish – Not to worry – still have Don B’s on the layout and have to get the pics & vids on before too long, then send that out to the Chief....It’ll get here, no problem.Smile,Wink, & Grin

Jack – Dude, seriously?  A Thou?  wow – maybe they’ll give me more for my Sporty so I can trade UP!  And your story?  Infinitely more interesting than me using that time to work.  Trust me, I’m not going to ignore you or your postings --- unless you start buying ammo....Mischief

Got a couple of cars from a guy in Jersey (via OGRR) and wow...they will most likely make an appearance on the SUNDAY SPF.

Fairly overcast today so maybe more rain in the future. Called the doc's this morning and the nurse trying to get in touch w/ me was out and my doc was leaving for the weekend in a half hour. Blast. Was figuring we were now out 'til Monday and getting fairly discouraged. Well the nurse just called and I guess my doc hasn't managed to leave yet (I'll never complain about my schedule again). Nurse was going to talk to my doc and see where we go from here. Things seem to be getting a bit worse so I wasn't exactly looking forward to the weekend.

Buckeye - hope all goes well on your next "flight"

cnwDoug - windows are out again, huh? At least you get to listen to the EL.

greenprobe - you guys are getting me interested in Flyer stuff. The sound of my brother's engine (steam 4-4-2) still rings in my mind.

dennis - I really appreciate your time. I'll fire off an email shortly. Having seen a lot of doctor's schedules recently I know you are extremely busy. If we start hunting zebra's this could get interesting.

jon - enjoy the bike wash. If the MG were in one piece I'd try to sneak it in. Hey, it's got wire rims!:)

Hope everyone has a good weekend!

Bob,

Take the plunge into Flyer. You won't regret it. Here is a video to help get you started. I found it on YouTube today, and I think you'll like it.

Started to rain, so I came inside to do paperwork, but posting here is more fun.

Ray - The Chief said he will be at the lake all week by himself. Don't know what he is doing, but I doubt he will have time to post.EvilBlack EyeWink

Jack - Don't even think of not posting, or changing your format. Another use for Bag Balm! I still say there are more uses for Bag Balm that for WD-40.

Did you see this: Disney's cross-country train tour to promote their new Dicken's movie has apparently been out for a while - is coming to Chicago.

Jim - That's it! Exactly my brother's set. AF still has the best chuff sound. May have to work in an S-gauge loop at some point into my plans.

Well more test's next week. Let's hope I make it through the weekend w/o ending up in the hospital, again. This whole 'I'm getting lightheaded and I feel like I'm about to pass out'  is getting old.  But I'm still standing at least some of the time so I guess it can't be that bad.

Bob,

I haven't looked back since I dug deeper into Gilbert Flyer. The 4-4-2 in that video is the four piece die cast metal 302 from 1948-49.  If you decide to look for a 302, try to find the four piece cast version. The one piece cast version is also great, but it lacks some of the details of the four piece.  There is also a 302 that has a plastic boiler instead of die cast. Avoid the plastic version. It isn't a good puller, and it lacks the feel of Gilbert quality that the die cast steamers have.

Mitch......I think you have things backwards.  "Son's move thankfully delayed."  The thankful part is when they move out!

Jack -  Our son has basically been gone from home for three years now.  Big Smile He has not lived at home since the summer before his senior year at college.  The REAL thankful part for me was when he started paying his own bills this past January.  The train budget got a big boost. Smile,Wink, & Grin

Brutus - Prayer for your wife. A friend had a kidney transplant a year ago and it has been wonderful for him.

Fifey - enjoy the alone time with your lovely wife. You deserve it.

Good Night.

Lost my post Sad

Thanks for the prayers guys - you are the best Smile  My wife was approved for her leave at work (leave bank) for the procedure and recovery too!  Thanks to each of you for your kindness and help - I, too, believe that God answers prayers.

Patrick - I love those sayings too, keep them up Smile

Rich - heard today some bad news about Harley lay-offs.  Hope the economy turns around soon and not just for that, but for all the people who are out of work now and facing hard times.

Bob - good luck on your diagnosis, I hope they get things under control.

Guys, the Tardis is ready and plenty of room for all - let's go and eat up Sir James' food, lol!  Just too many to list all by name, but you all know how special you are and how I hold you all in my heart - just the best....

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Probally just relax today.

Glad to hear things working out for our ailing prayers still going out as now isn't the time to stop need them keep going to make sure all is fine all the way thru.

Hope all have a good weekend. plan to put up another shelf for more trains to go on. but may goto the wall infront of my desk instead of beside and connect them at the corner of the room.

Mornin' boys.  Sunny & 64 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Rained just enough yesterday to give the body & fender men a little work... Did handle a "meet" between a Mustang GT and moped/scooter; guess who lost that one?

Lawson Farms - In reference to the wild floppy-earred white rabbits, Oh, they are very real.  Apparently this area had regular bunnies at one time, then Mr fox came in and cleaned house.  Then an unknown resident apparently set free some pet rabbits, and they have taken over the former rodents' habitat.  They fear nothing and no one.  Apparently Mr fox has left the area, or is intimidated.

Came back home yesterday afternoon.  Had to move the small furniture, pictures, books, nick nacks, clocks and etc back into the downstairs.  Also had to dust everything such as chair rail and etc.  Floors do not look like new hardwoods but have character per the wife.  I really think they look good for a 70 year old house.

Pam came up Tuesday night and stayed until yesterday.  Pontoon got a good running.  Lucy loves to ride the pontoon almost as much as she loves the golf cart.  The Mako is SOLD!!!!!  Guy that offered a ridicules price suddenly showed up and bought it.  Was a surprise.  Got to rush.  Picking garden and taking it to Miss Edna's.  The Asst. Town Manager and wife picked the garden while I was gone.  They got 5 buckets full of tomatoes, 3 buckets of cucumbers, some cantalopes, squash and corn.  They are HAPPY.  Need rain.  Missed a big storm and down pour yesterday afternoon.  Got only a tenth.  God bless all you fine gentlemen and Yankees too. Laugh  Later.

Good Morning

Sunny but cooler 60s. It's still summer though.

What we need is a summer wabbit season. I would love to get rid of them but with my luck, well you know how that  goes. Losing some garden plants is much cheaper than a judges fine. Not sure what the day will bring but I am ready, have a great day....S.J.

More rain last night. We'll take it. We never complain about rain in the desert. So far today has been ok, of course I haven't eaten anything yet. Almost a little gunshy at this point.

Chief - I had to chuckle about you wanting to be posted in grey rather than blue. Ironically, I'm drinking from a Civil War coffee mug that a friend brought back from Virginia.

Brutus - Sounds like things are coming together for you and the wife. Will keep the prayers rolling.

Jim - I actually tried to bid on an AF set. Was a 303 I think. Was a pretty good deal even w/ the original box. Somebody sniped me and was not surprised. Will prob be back up on the fleaBay shortly for at least twice the price:) I'll keep an eye out for the 302 though. Sounds like more my style.

doug - that video link to the In-Koh-Pah Railroad was very cool. Reminded me so much of my recent hike to the Goat Canyon Trestle it was kind of eerie. Going to send the link to my friend who was on the hike w/ me. I've hiked to some of the most out of the way places in the continental US, but this took the cake for what we found when we got there.

Decided to finally order the puller and cups for the 1664. Figured if I'm not up to turning wrenches on the motor, I might as well get some other stuff done. May tinker w/ some of the radios too. Of course a lot of my test equipment is "sur la montagne". Been doing a lot of reading, but am getting restless. Maybe this would be a good time to finally get my ham license.

Aloha. Very cool here. Sir J, I am reminded of the Bugs Bunny cartoon with Daffy Duck "It's wabbit season! Duck season!  Wabbit season! Duck season! Duck season! Wabbit season! Duck season - Fire! and Daffy gets pounded again by Elmer Fudd. LOL.

I'll go see that Disney train 'advertisement' for their Christmas movie when it arrives at Union Station. I also read today that Wisconsin has signed an agreement with Talgo to build high-speed trainsets for the Hiawathas!

afternoon did put one shelf up but need to get more wood for rest I'm running another 8' in front of my desk and connecting to the 7' that runs besides my desk.

For Pat anyway heres a couple of pics that have the Dale jr. train set with Dale SR. expansion pack, Kasey Kahne expansion pack and at the far end of the train it has the Jeff Gordon expansion pact. (seeing I'll be at work most of tomorrow and won't be able to put this in the SPF)

When I get more 1x4x8 I will add another shelf in back but raised 3" and it will have the Nascar set along with another Kasey Kahne expansion, Tony Stewart and Jimmie Johnson expansion packs added to it. I see I need to fix 2 more of my auto carriers up so the next level is full of autos also.

you all have a good day talks with you all later. Oh caught the chief bumming hotdogs again

RT - The NASCAR trains look great.Thumbs Up Reminds me I need to try and complete my sets. I think I have all of Jimmie Johnson, but I need to fill in some Jeff Gordon, Kasey Cahne and Tony Stewart. I don't have any Dale Sr. or Dale Jr.Blush

Also, your shelves look great. Mine are only 6' long. Need to extend them to hold complete trains.

Thanks for sharing.

only Dale JR is a complete train set even thou Lionel advertised a expansion set it never was made. I do have a complete Kasey Kahne still factory sealed if you want it. let me know. ( its an extra one I have, I had gotten 4 total but using 3 at present. )

Thought you would like my nascar sets so far still have more to put out. need the second shelf. if you notice the Kasey kahne expansion set has the auto carier but it is acually empty I added cars to mine, and his car is more like a midget racer compare to the other cars don't know why lionel put 1:43 cars on all the expansion packs but his, his they put 1:64 beats me. geting cheap I guess in the makings.

Greetings from LaCrosse, WI, one of the most beautiful areas in the USA, especially if you like rural/twisty roads that seem like an era generations ago.  Lot of Amish in the area with "old time transportation" re: horse & buggy--------probably similar to modern transportation in Roseyville Laugh

Home tomorrow--will be well over 1000 miles since Thursday, but every one a winner.

Worked 6 hours and then mowed the jungle around my house!  Trimmer battery ran out - have to finish trimming tomorrow Shock  Picked up some resistors - needed one for the whistle trigger wire in Thomas.  I guess I'll rewire that tomorrow - just reclinerizing now, lol!  Long day!

Thanks RT, but I have three cars of the Kasey Kahne set (expansion?) I checked and I have the empty double deck car carrier, flat car with the HO size car and the flat car with the hauler on it. I would be interested in your extra set if I didn't have two or three of the set. Any other NASCAR you want to sell?Question

Chief, Good to have you back.  Glad you got that boat sold.  You probably need to go back a few pages and defend your honor somewhere.

Bob, I got your message.  Will respond soon.  Have a few ideas, want to sound them off some others.

It has been a good few days here.  Worked a bit on the hard side this past week as one of the guys was on vacation and we had a busy week with cases to boot.  Long days and short nights.  Last night, we dropped my son off at some friends house for his first sleep over.  We had one of their daughters here, so our daughter hosted her first sleep over too.  Wife and I watched some movie that was OK, but I was too tired to care.  After the kid exchange this morning, I came home and finished the wiring on the layout!  I have not run the trains, still have to clear the tracks from all the tools, etc.  Then vacuum before lighting up the rails.  Still will have the wiring on signals, etc., but at least we can have the trains rolling.

Time to head down for dinner.  Hope that everyone has a great night and I hope to get some photos of the progress on the SPF as promised to Jon.

God Bless,
Dennis
