A belated Happy Veterans Day to all of our service men and women, past and present. We went from 80 degrees and sunny yesterday to 60 degrees, windy and drizzle. What a contrast! The wife and #2 daughter went to Birmingham to shop and have lunch with son and #1 daughter. I stayed home and ran some local errands, then put a few items for sale on the 'bay. Also watched a few train videos I've had on hand but never took time to watch. Had a nice afternoon bonding with the dogs!

31°-20°= chilly (stop wearing shorts);
19°-0°= cool (need more than a hooded sweatshirt for a coat);
-1° to -20°= cold weather finally here; -21° to -35°= colder (kids have to stay in from playgrounds) -36° to -45°= cold snap;
-46° to -60°= pretty cold (stuff starts breaking);
-61° and lower= just plain sucks!
That’s how Alaskans here in the interior describe the weather and temperature.

Evening.  Taking a break from watching Tora Tora Tora on AMC.  Seen it so many times I have it memorized.   One of my favorite is In Harms Way [John Wayne of course].  Went to Miss Edna's and then returned.  Caught Pam asleep [she was going to get up leaves].  Sat in recliner and slept for 2 1/2 hours [was not feeling good at all].  She woke up and insisted we do leaves.  Told her it was Veterans Day and I was a Vet.  Didn't work.  Cleaned gutters and then vacumed leaves with JD mower.  She did the back around her flowers and shrubs [usually I have to do it all].  Finished, cleaned JD and came it for shower.  At Brunswick Stew for dinner.  Jim A and I talked.  He went to library to use computer and it was closed.   He needs to buy a computer.   Wanted to know what was said on the forum.  Should have made up a bunch of junk about him.   Glad to see new and new old friends on the coffee pot.  Alaska temps are just right for Ohizo.  Freeze those Blue Bellies.  Pass me another glass of sweet ice tea.   Good night.  Micro wave popcorn time.

Have just got myself into trouble by running Trainz on the pooter instead of making tracks to the shops with she who shall be obeyed (and we aren't even living together). My first train set was an O gauge clockwork Hornby 4-4-4 tank and a circle of track.
You call it Veterans Day, over here it's Remembrance Day, but whatever it's called, we all owe those brave folks who gave their all (my father bought it at Dunkirk and took 5 yrs to die). my family were on the Gestapo list of people to be disposed of after England was conquered. So I feel a very special gratitude to all who fought and died for our precious freedom. +5 here in Stockport, last nights gale has dumped a billion leaves appropriate weather for a sombre occasion.
Been roughing out track plans in various scales, I'm afraid 0 gauge is out, Z would fit my space but is perhaps a little too fiddly, so I guess HO or N will win with just a simple switching layout. I have found a man who does bespoke layout construction. A lot more research is called for before a final decision is made. Size will probably be about 8'0"X1'0" in 2 sections stashed behind the sofa, no space under the bed.
For what it's worth our ceremony takes place in an hours time with the Queen leading the parade at the Cenotaph web page-www.bbc.co.uk/cenotaph.

Morning to all.  Up early on a Sunday.  Going to early church and then off to Morgantown for a visit with our son.  We haven't seen him since early September,  We will take him to lunch and then hit s shop or tow and then head home.  We're both missing him even though he'll be home on break for Thanksgiving holiday in a week or so.

My family has some wonderful news.  My sister and her husband have been able to adopt a little boy.  It has been a long rough road for them... Brian Scott is just two days old and still in the hospital with a touch of jaundice.  My sister and her husband have been with him since he was about 5 hours old.  Hopefully all the paperwork will be taken care of and they will be able to bring him home with him in a few days. For now they will stay with him in a motel until paperwork is fainl.  My Mom and Dad drove down to be with them.  Please keep the new Mom and Dad and baby Brian in your prayers.

Not much train time the past few days.  Have been busy with work and yard work.  I did finish most of the yard work and  clean up of leaves etc. yesterday. Weather has been wonderful.  Rain today.

John you can get a decent O gauge layout in 8' x 1', with a bit of ingenuity you could even have a loop, go for O you won't be sorry. I too had Hornby clockwork as a kid and to me Lionel was like coming home again!  I kid you not. I don't even have that much space, I run mine on the floor, its well rugged and can take it easy. Even if it gets stepped on!  I mean no one here is as overcrowded as our house I guarantee it, I have to wait for a rainy day and the kid and I get the living room floor for an afternoon. She helps me put it together, FasTrack goes together dead easy and then we send each other stuff in the wagons. She sends me Legos to build stations, houses, farms and I send her animals and people to put in them. She's 4 years old and loves the trains, I got her HO TOMY ones but she would rather wait for me to get the big ones out. 

Todays gonna be a train day!  I just got a tipping wagon to send Smarties (M&M's) in.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a cold 39 degrees and cloudy. Only going up to 44 today and cloudy. I guess the warm spell is over.

Today, I have a few things to do around the house. Then I plan on running trains and working on the expansion sections. Have to build some tunnel portals and track supports.

Watched a few WWII  movies last night. They had the good ones on. Saw the " 30 Seconds Over Tokyo " one with Spencer Tracy. 1944.

Well, the Dining Car just rolled in. Breakfast is served.

Well it has started, Jean put up the Christmas tree last night.  This morning she had me drilling holes along the drive and walk to insert the pipes that hold up her candy canes.  She likes to do the outside decorating while it is still warm.  She does all the decorating and I rig up the cords & timers.

Wow!  I thought my family was anxious.  When does the tree come down.  We have had a long standing tradition, the outside decorations go up on Thanksgiving weekend, the inside ASAP thereafter.  My mom used to put the tree up on Thanksgiving, but it was ALWAYS down before New Years, most of the time the day after Christmas.

Kevin T.  - Like your temperature relationships, don't know how you guys can take it though.  Certainly must be beautiful, just if you can get out to enjoy it?

Started moving stuff into the train room, RED Letter day here,  going to gather all the train stuff and consolidate it into the one room, and put up a temporary layout just to be able to run some things, (anticipation of the Lionel Big Boy), then paint the living room, dining room and finish the inside of the rest of the house before start actual work in the train room.  Once start don't want to have to go and finish other rooms.   Will also help with the PR of the new railroad coming to town.

Afternoon all.  Went to early Church and tought mens' Sunday School class this AM [regular teacher was not going to be there and asked for me to teach].  Came home and the cough meds kicked in.  Went to sleep while I was waiting for the computer to load up.    Just woke up.  Raining right along.  Had over an inch and a half before 8:30 AM and did not start until 3 AM.  Temps are dropping all the time.  Can't tell I did all that yard work yesterday.  Twice as many leaves on the ground now.  Will run trains after a while.  Mitch, good luck on the new nephew [a Thomas to buy ].  John, I will not let my wife know you all have decorated.  If she finds out, whe will start immediately.  She has house decorated for Thanksgiving.  Colorful turkeys and Pilgram nutcrackers and etc.  She even has a string of turkey lights.   Glad to see BMRR here.  Got some real Southern backup.   John Bakeer, good to see you here.  I look for your post every morning as you are in a lot earlier time zone.   Now as for the Ohizo gang, well I won't say as it is Sunday and I have to be nice.  Back to sleeping over the OGR magazine and a movie.   Greenhouse to water later.  Lat

Dr. John, church service this morning brought up the Facing the Giants movie, while the dollars go to Sony right now, the real success has been close to 800 decisions so far that we know of.  Amazing what can be done if you let God do it His way.

No train time today, MIL is at the house and I am here at the hospital, just did a little emergency and now I get to go home and cook steaks.

Don, We traditionally have put up the Christmas decorations around Thanksgiving and turned them on at Thanksgiving. In recent years we have put them up earlier, but still wait to light them until Thanksgiving. We generally take them down on New Years day, but if we go out for New Years Eve, then we take them down earlier.

Sounds like the layout is getting nearer!

The weather was beautiful here yesterday. Today it has been rainy all day long. To be the same tomorrow. The leaves are really coming down. Ours will probably be done by midweek.

It is dark and cold in SE Indiana as the temps head for the 20s and 30s.  Rested mostly today.  My wife and I did go to church.  She took the dog for a walk and I went to the YMCA.  I watched the MLS championship.  It is so rare to see soccer on network TV.  Tmcc man, did you watch the game?  John Bakeer, I kind of envy your ability to watch "real" football all the time.  Have you ever been to any of the games?  I can't be on too long as Extreme Makeover is featuring a family from Indiana tonight, and then it is "Desperate Housewives".  I hope everyone had a good day.

Spent the day cleaning the home office and only made a dent in it. Lots of paper to sort and throw out.

Also found time to go out and mow the lawn which really means mulching the leaves. I try to avoid bagging them, but I have so many that I have to pick some of them up.

Well the Cowboys won. I am surprised at the lack of Ohio State talk this weekend. Now that I have said that let the storm begin!
