Tom, tried to send some folks your way, we had some visitors from Buckeye's area at the museum friday. Mentioned to them about OTTS and the museum project.

Thanks Doug,

The tin plate layout is really coming along. Today I finished wireing the control panel and all the switches are now on fix power and the remotes are also wired.

Another outstanding weekend drawing to a close. and the best part is the week ahead.
ran some trains today on a superb layout. a LIonel Fast-Track layout with over 300 feet of main line. 48 curves and lots of long tangent track. the next tome i go over and run there
Iam going to take some pictures. Hopefully soon NV will get the unit to operate the MTH
2.0 equipped locos in command . right now it is TMCC powered with a new ZW.
I like the way it operates and the track looks neat. I like the fast track better than MTH real
track . have a great week ahead every one.

nice work, Steve.

That wreck link, btw, is obscene! Parental notification advised!

Chief, the coffee pot has been here about 18 months now; perhaps time for an edit!

Nice job on that layout Tom! Looking really good now since you guys first started it. I also like the control panel too....very nice.

Im wondering now on what track will be used for the big layout that's being planned now.

Steve, I wonder if the producer of "Trainwreck" paid Union Pacific its royalties.

Colin, I guess we can't tease you about growing up any more, good choice. By the way are you by chance the dude in the red shirt?

Mickey, great job on the barn. We have a few like that around here, only covered with kudzu and maybe a timber rattler, or copperhead, thrown in for intrest.

Roger, I was sick that weekend, and no I obviously am not the kid in the red because of my first answer. I will see both of them down the shore, and Gab is working at my favorite pancake joint, so I get to see her early in the morning. They 4th of July party will be great, fire works, roman candles..........

Well, Chief, lets hear one of your "little boy in shorts" jokes.

Colin - And you were thinking of choosing trains over the girl? What's the matter with you!!! [:)]

laz - That sounds like it was a pretty good sized train show you were at. Too bad you couldn't get a good deal. I wonder if folks are holding onto their K-Line stuff and wondering if there will be an increase in prices now.

Have a good evening all.

TOM SCHMIDT, great show they have one in November and one now in Feb. 600= tables and then they have a O gauge layout, HO layout, N layout. Z layout, and they have train dragraces, something SPANKYBIRD would like. Nice show in mid winter and great time to get away for the day. Takes us about 1hour and 45 minutes to get there, but well worth the day. A great show lots to see get there early.

MITCH, me and my wife are going to YORK on Friday April 21st, I think, well anyway it is on that Friday. Going to burn a personal day. Hope to see you there.

Have agood night?

Oh one more thing GIZ,

On a sadder note, DON KNOTS died yesterday.
Today DARRIN MAGAVIN ( Ralphies DAD from the Christmas Story) died today he was 83.
Say a prayer for these two GIZ, cause at one time or another they did make you laugh?

Colin,
Nice girl, now make it happen and invite her out. I wish you well. Also, got a email from trainworld, they are having a sale on the large stuff, if you are in the market.

Steve,
Shame on you for that link! As they say, you just can't help but look at a trainwreck. Argh, you guys are nuts. Have a good night.

Did anyone put up the bond money to get the Chief out of the Austin, TX jail? He's been very quiet or very busy selling boat chargers.

Steve Frame:
The barn is made out of wood sticks that are about 1/4 inch wide. I get them at Walmart, 75 or so for about $2. The sticks are about 6 inches long. I cut them to size. The roof is corrigated cardborad with the top layer of paper removed. I painted the roof silver, then rust some black and earth brown. The barn is painted with the hobby lobby "barn wood" color. The key is to use a fine spray of earth brown on the inside before the roof. It adds depth to the openings and missing boards and on the outside brings out the individual boards/sticks. I really had fun building it and my family and friends seem to enjoy it as well. Thanks.

Good Morning from Gettysburg, It is currently 15 degrees with high to be about 32. Cold enough to keep the REBS from coming across the MD Line.

Buckeye - Who in the world would post Chief's bail? Looks like he may be in for an extended stay in Dudaville. Haven't heard from Jim either maybe he and Chief hooked up with those honeys in the photo and that's why we haven;t heard from either of them[}:)][}:)][}:)]

Great barn, Mickey! I really like that.

It snowed Saturday for most of the day. Fortunately, it was the light fluffy stuff. It brings up an interesting question for all you snow-belters out there.

Where do you draw the line between shoveling snow and snow blowing it?

I'll shovel snow if it's only a few inches deep, or when it's the fluffy stuff. It's a great way to exercise and get some fresh air. Deep snow or heavy snow get me behind the snow blower though. My nieghbor uses his snow blower every single time. An inch or a foot, it doesn't matter to him.

My wife is always complaining that she can't see the river on our layout, so this weekend, I added a second river right up front. I'll call it the St. Mary River in her honor. It adds a lot of visual interest to the front of the layout. An area that I really couldn't figure out what to do with.

HI GIZ,
21 and crisp today to get to 35?

MICKEY great job on the barn. Looks real good.

Yeah JIMBO and the CHIEF must of been dancing with those girlies? The girlies must of worn them out? Probably won't here from em for a while? Bit maybe they'll have stories, we hope?

Have a good one.

Mickey, I really like your barn, but I like your explanation even better on how it was constructed. Thanks for the great explanation of materials and techniques involved.

Jon, I use my snowblower only when needed. BTW, Buckeyeland has had only 9.5 inches of snow this season. When you compare that to Jamestown Tom's 190 inches, it is obvious I live in the tropics.

Chief and the Duda Lawn Mowing Honeys.....Now there would a sight to behold.

Colin, unless I drive to NJ, I don't think I'll make your show in York.

Don Knotts and Darrin McGavin gone in the same weekend. The world is a darker place today without old Barney. I wonder if they'll bury Don Knotts with a bullet in his chest pocket?

Good Morning All from NE Ohio

where the temp is 25 and going up to 32 with lake effect snow showers in the area.

OTTS update

The Tin Plate layout is ready for foam under the track (this week) and then the fun of landscaping. The Great news it, the wiring is complete for the track and switches and anyone that wishes to, can bring there trains down and run them! ! !

Buckeye – I don’t think Chief made bail, not that anyone would really want to keep him.[:0]

JimBo – did you win your races [?]

We have an interview downtown Cleveland today, so got to run.

Pick of the Day

All be safe

The Duda boys got spanked at the races, crashed and burned with the Houston ladies (we got stood up!), but brought all our planes home. I heard it rained when Chiefie was in town, but turned beautiful when he left...hmmmmmm.

...and then I heard about the deal in one of the University dorms and I could only think of one person...

We are supposed to hit 60 today! This has been a crazy Winter, that's for sure!

Okay - need some advice. Some friends are building a new house in a subdivision about 10 miles down the Highway in Pevely MO. We like the building so far - the carpenters etc appear to be doing a good job, and we like a couple of the floor plans they have. The problem for me is that it's about 2 miles from a Dow Chemical plant. I can just see them having an accident, releasing a bunch of acid or something, and being locked out of the house for a week. What do you guys think - would being a couple miles from a light/mid-sized industry like that be a deal breaker?

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Good Morning Everyone !!
Chuck: keep warm !!
Tom : nice job on the layout at the museum, & hope the interview goes well !!
I'm off to get a haircut today, for possible Jury Duty tomorrow & next week too, maybe !
Boy, hope the Chief gets back soon, maybe he will have a picture of Lionelsoni & his layout !!
Oh, glad Mr. Duda retuned with all his planes ! You know, I lost 1 plane that year, just going down the road on I -90 on the way to a big weekend meet in Hamburg NY, when it blew out the back of my truck !! It was just the fuselageas the wing was in my buddies trailer. He said he had room for it too, but I said, oh, it 'll be ok back there !! [:D][:D]
All have a nice day !
Thanks,

Warmer (40s) in Chicago today. Sorry I missed the Chief coming into Midway last night. Good luck on interview, Tom. Mickey, you really did a fine job with that barn - especially with relatively common materials. I'm inspired to start on my trolley barn.
Jim, about that house, in all seriousness, are you downwind of the plant - with the usual wind direction. Here the winds are usually west to east, and you'll notice more homes built to the west of our local nuke plant and not so much to the east.... Your state EPA should be able to give you an incident report on that plant - or you might even find it online.

Jim, if you are having reservations, others will too. That means lower property valuation. If you like the plans and builders, see if they have a lot in a different area or if they will build on a lot you buy. Personally I'd be leery of living that close to a chemical plant for the reasons you mentioned.

Busy morning. Got in at 2AM. Thanks to those D--N Yankees at O'Hare [not Midway, hate that place]. Plane was over an hour late getting to Austin [from Chicago]. Then Chicago would not let pilot make up time. Go to my outgoing gate just in time to board and found out that flight was delayed. Then our plane was at gate but could not pull up because they could not find a taxi crew to move the empty one from the gate. Usual Yankee circle jerk. [;)] Booking flight to NH March 13, 14 & 15 for another meeting. Well, more to get done. Hungry so fixing lunch now. Jimbo, I brought much needed rain to Austin. One honey at Cablea's really like me [probably felt bad for an old man] and fed me real well in the restaurant and then gave me discount. [;)] Will say one thing. Thought Denver was screwed up traffic wise. Now I know who holds the top place for bad traffic and dumb traffic engineees. AUSTIN. God bless.

Jim, First thing I'd due is make sure I was prevailing upwind from the plant. Also chemical facilities are supposed to have worse case scenario models in case of a release. These should be public record available from local, or state authorities. The biggest question is what do they make and use to make it. A facility I was responsible for had a "blast" radius of 1 mile for a material that we usually had 40,000 gals in storage and at least two tankcars on sight a most times.
