Morning everyone. Clear but cold and supposed to get wet or snowy later in Chicago. And to think I passed up a chance to go to a convention on distance learning in Houston next week... I got a chuckle out of the name of the photo (see under Properties)

Let my new cows out to pasture on the layout last night. I'll probably move them around a bit more to find the best spot.

John, I see them most every day during this time of year as they are either parked in the small yard the UP has in my town or parked closer to the city along the UP's line. All kinds of rail maint. equipment: tampers, etc., Burro cranes, huge Ohio cranes, long TTX flats for rail-carryin', standard MoW flats from all sorts of UP fallen flags too. My favorite is a CGW caboose. I have a whole mess of photos of the RoW you can persue under my name on Sony's Imagestation website.

Jim, Judging by the photo, you will be racing planes in Silicon Valley [;)]. Have a good time. Chief, I am sure the nice folks in Texas will be able to entertain you for some time while Jim is out of town. Just have a good safe time.

Good morning all,

I am on break from class so here is the update. It is sunny with a high in the 40s in SE Indiana today. I went to the Y and ran the James Gang set from the early 80s. Watched most of the figure skaters fall last night. I can not imagine the pressure they would be under. Practice for four years and have it all go bad in four minutes. At least with the Super Bowl and the Indy 500, it happens every year, but waiting that long is really tough. I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Enjoyed the picture of your buddies "friends". Easy choice in my book.

I think its time to get back into R/C airplanes. I've never seen eye candy like them at a train show.

Morning all!

Dennis - Silicon Valley - LOL

Guess I'm headed to Houston this weekend [;)]

Haven't heard much from Buckeye this week, guess he is still healing up from skiing!

Dr. John - good one.

Don - have fun at the races!

Gas varies from $2.09 to $2.12 here. Big news report night before last that with the switch to ethenol/gasohol here (read that CORN which we have lots of) that gas is going to go up significantly. Maybe $2.50 a gallon. Figure that one out. BTW - as I understand it, using gasohol also means you have to get a few $$ of mods to your vehicle to use it if not previously equipped.

60's and possible rain today - promises, promises!

Have a great one all!
Roy

Regards, Roy

Just a few random thoughts.......

Paid $2.29 for gas this morning, really surprised, down 7 cents since yesterday.

R/C planes sure looks like fun!

Doug (dougdagrump) there is a very positive thread going on the other forum regarding the San Diego train musuem..... Congratulations.

My Wife left me !!!

wife left me...
I don't understand.

She told me we had to cut back on expenses - I had to give up drinking beer. I was not a big drinker, maybe a 12-pack on weekends.

Anyway, I gave it up but I noticed the other day when she came home from grocery shopping. The receipt included $45 in makeup.

I said, "Wait a minute I've given up beer and you haven't given up anything!"

She said, "I buy that makeup for you, so I can look pretty for you."

I told her, "Hell, that's what the beer was for!"

I don't think she'll be back.....

With those words have a great day!!![:D]

What do you think they'd talk about?! [:D][;)][:p]

Page 714. I know of 2 different famous people who are associated with that number. Babe Ruth hit 714 home runs in the majors, and Det. Joe Friday's badge on Dragnet was 714. Useless Friday trivia for you!

Again it is a cool sunny day here and I feel like going for a walk.

I seldom do that but I need to improve myself in several ways and excercise is but one.

Rodger that is awsom tressle work, great landscaping also. How large is your layout.

Mine is just a toy.

I need in deed to put these toys away and get to work on some fat busting activites so I can enjoy fishing and camping thi summer.

Steve, the layout is 15' X 26', including access aisles. Trestle was scratch built from pine I ripped down on the table saw. In addition to glue on the joints I pinned them with HO rail spikes as a detail and for joint strength.

Of course after cleaning the drool up off the key board of those neat drinking buddies.

Anyway I got my main rod from MTH today.
HEE HAW!!!!!!
CHEERS for MTH, they didn't leave me down.

Yes, was I ever so happy today. The spani***eacher was out again today, and best of all I sat next to Brianna during the entire class.

Duda, WOW, your choice was way better. Now, when they are drinking, do not take advantage of them[;)] How much is a round trip to Houston?

Wow Duda! Send more pictures after the weekend! Those are not flat cars, that's for sure.

It looks like a busy weekend for train shows. I hope everyone has a good time and finds a good deal.

Have a good evening.

Roger, fantastic work and photos. Steve, great photos. Jim, If my wife looks over my shoulder at the right moment, I could be in trouble. "Sure you're on the train forum"[B)] It has been a great day. Work was done early, then picked up my wife and kids and went to the gocart track and did a little racing and off to the boat races. After all that, to Bruster's for homeade ice cream and back home. Just one of those days you call a blessing.

[:(!]

I spent about an hour this morning on the phone figuring out that the cookiejar I bought my wife for Valentines didn't show up because the shipper screwed up and sen it to MI! He is trying to get it back - I hope he has good luck, because she really wanted it.

THEN - we got our appraisal on the hail damage from the insurance. I called the guy and pointed out that it was missing some stuff that we had even talked about while he was here. Apparently I need to get some bids, then negotiate the final deal. I've never had to deal with this junk before, but I adjudicate claims for benefits, so I am well aware of how this sort of thing is supposed to work. Apparently the insurance guy and I will be negotiating for a while.

Ended up having to work until 7 PM (11 hour day) due to about 2 hours on the phone dealing with this crud.

The good news is that the day is over!

PS - some very interesting scenery posted today!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
