Morning all!

Mike C - Our prayers are with your daughter.

Gil - my favorite line is when they call and ask for my wife, I yell back " She left 2 weeks ago and we haven't heard from her since. Do you know something I need to know?" Really catches them off guard and they typically hang up. Caller ID and the Do Not Call list have really killed the number of calls we get anymore.

Strange how 48 and cloudy can feel downright balmy. Some rain predicted for next couple of days. We really need it.

Mickey - great photos!

Have a great one all,
Roy

Regards, Roy

I don't think anyone from OTTS is going, but will know after Fridays meeting. I went to the last on there and was very disappointed in how small it was for a 2 day show. [:(]

Good Morning Everyone ! Gee, meant to check in earlier & got to playing with my trains & forgot !! [:D] Actally, now I send my little 3 yr. old Grandson pictures everyday, which helps me learn how to use my new camera & seems to take me forever !
Steve : that's a really good one for the telemarketers ! I may even try that on some relatives sometime !! [:D] Not my Mother-in-law though, she's real nice & she would probably have a heart attack !!
Well, it sure looks nice outside today & being in my basement all day, I can really enjoy the weather !! [:D][:D]
All have a nice day !

Might sound like a heat wave to you yankees but its a raw 54 deg. here this afternoon with rain. I hope the speakers and teathers I ordered form TAS show up in the mail this afternoon so that the walk out to the box is worthwhile and I can get started on my A-B-A modification.

My prayers are with your daughter Mike.

Afternoon gang,
Mike, prayers for your daughter, just sent one upstairs.
Chief, sorry you are having to face such a time. I am sure I will be doing the same before too long. We hate to see them any other way than what we grew up with.
Roger, fantastic work you have done there. Perhaps we can stop by and check it out some time. My sister in law lives in Woodstock and maybe we can do a little side trip to toy train heaven.
We are trying to nail the plans down for the Garage/train building. Does anyone have plans for such an animal? Want 2-3 bays and the second floor for trains. We might make it attached to the house or a breezeway so we don't have to go far to play.

Mike, Our thoughts and prayers are with your daughter, our daughter had a problem free pregnancy but a real tuff time time with delivery. Ended up with a C-section.
Chuck, It is kinda difficult to take pictures when you're face down in the snow. [;)] Been there done that, that's why I never let my wife carry the camera. She seemed to take to much joy in those photos.
Dennis, It has to be attached somehow, you really don't want to be wearing your slippers outside going to the playroom, plus the coffee might get cold. [:o)]
When we get a tele-marketing call I just act like I have call waiting, put them on hold for about 5 to 10 minutes and if they are still there when I pick-up I tell them to take me off their call list, if not I'll file a legal action.

Tough day. Mom had paid the taxes for farms in one county but not the other. Luckly it was the county she lives in [and my farm is in] which does not have a high penalty for late payment. Cost her $10 more. Probably got more interest at the bank for not paying it. She just knew whe had paid it. Then she told me she was NOT going to use a pill tray showing her the pills to take each day. "I take my medicine!" Rough when you have to get "stern" to your Mom. Frankie went so he saw how she is. We did try to smooth it over by telling her we were only concerned for her health and wanted her to not get sick. She said she had been around long enough and she was not living forever. HUMMM One big thing is she can not tell you how old she is. She now insists she is 88 and she is 89. Gets real upset when you correct her. She can tell you when she was born. Mom, do the math. Dr. John, theink you and I need to chat. Bet you have seen these things.

Just put GOLD tires on Pam's car. Went up $200 in three years for the same set of tires. [thanks George W.]

Mike I will be rooting for you all.

Good that you caught that. Bubbette cares for her sister estate, she isnt dead but stroked out in a nursing home and she found on the day before they were to auction her sisters place that the taxes were 3 years delinquent. She mangaged to save it, her attorney caught wind of it and tracked her down at work.

Again Mike I pass this along to some prayer warriors.

Good evening all,

Took a while to read all the posts since I was on last.

Mike C, my prayers are with your daughter.

Chief, I hope your Mom understands. Been through this several times.

Laz, Enjoy the show. Thought about going but not wild about that much driving so I will save my money for York in April. Besides my wife just opened the credit card bill for the K-4. Good thing I bought her the Elvis box car on ebay the other day!

Have a good everning.

Chief--

We went through that same scenario years ago and it was tough, especially hard for our sons to see a loved one slowly fade away but that's part of life. In our home we have lost that generation, we are now that generation.

Laz, I gave up also, begining to think that maybe it was to our benefit. Seems like some on the other board have gotten some problem locos from Sun. [:I]
Well seems like gas is going up again, filled up today $2.60/gal for regular. San Diego gas prices suck.....

Good morning from a foggy Gettysburg, PA where it is currently 34 degrees with highs to be in the mid 40's.

Chief – good luck with your mom. My cousin is going through that now with her Dad. It is not easy becoming the "parent" of your parents and watching their health and their mental faculties slip away.

Mike C. – I'll keep your daughter in our prayers, good luck

Steve (Gil) – Outstanding story, I loved it.

LAZ - I hope you find something you love at the train show. We are off to visit the Boy at college this weekend or I might consider making the trip.

Be safe and have a good day.

HI GIZ,
36 and cloudy to get to 46.

MITCH have a safe trip. Where does your son go to college? What year and what major?

JOHN, yea I'm going down on Saturday with my brother and a friend, we are taking the wives too. They are going to Macy's there in Allentown and we are training it. Then afterwards going to Bethlehem to the Tally Ho resturante just off Lehigh University for dinner.

DOUG, maybe a good omen? K4s.

Have a good one.

Good morning all,

First of all, I would like to thank everybody for their thoughts and prayers. It means a lot to us. I will keep you posted as events develop. Secondly, my thoughts are with the Chief as you deal with the situation involving your mom. Although my parents are in good shape for now and my wife's dad is getting the best care possible, we went thru a rough time with her mom a few years ago and friends of ours are doing it now. I remember how it was with my grandparents. You want to hold them in your hand and carry them with you for the rest of your life, and you never want to let them go. The letting go is the hardest part of life.

On to more pleasant topics, it is foggy and mild in SE Indiana with the temps reaching into the 50s today. I went to the YMCA, and ran the Wabash Cannonball. I went to get gas, and there was a big line at the checkout counter. Everybody was buying scratch-off lottery tickets. They would go outside, see if they won, and go back inside to buy more if they turned up any money. I work for a state mental health and addiction agency, and I thought about offering a business card if they were having some problems. I guess I should not comment too much as I collect toy trains and some people might wonder if that is an addiction as well. It was an interesting evening to say the least. I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Good morning all, not many posts this morning, everyone sleeping in?

I got a little layout work done yesterday. Put up a section of background and installed 11 lights in the downtown. Started out with 12 but got carried away trying to straighten one, so now I have some spare parts.

Doug,

Gas prices have been falling here in Mass. $2.10 or so for regular unleaded. Natural gas is also being marked down 30% in our region. That will translate to a $70+ savings each month. Where was the mark down in December?!

Chief, Good luck with your mom. Both my parents died young, so I can only imagine what you're going through. Traveling this weekend? Have a safe trip.

Jim
