mickey - I would love to give you some of our snow. It's ok for awhile but winter can start in November and go into March or April. It's usually by this time of year that I have had my share of winter. This winter has been milder than most but that means more lake effect snow storms because Lake Erie is not frozen over.

Steve, I'm unsure how big the cars are - they looked about six-seven inches long - you could just come to rent and race one of their cars or run your own - also 'rent' or reserve time. Looked like fun.

Jim, (Jaabat), your natural gas prices actually went down?. I've heard of such things from others in my industry. I heat commercial greenhouses, and contacted my commercial rep at my local utility supplier for an explanation. He said I'm not paying 30% more for the gas, it's for the transmission. Only in Washington state.
And fuel is still at 2.29 in my area.

Mitch,

The background is by Faller Gmbh. Walthers #180514. They list several by Faller and Vollmer Gmbh. I have a Vollmer #6111 which is mountains that I am trying to blend into the rolling hills of the other. We'll see how it works out.

Good morning from Gettysburg, PA where it is currently 32 degrees. Colder temps expected.

Don - I am green with envy. [:p]. I think the only thing better than going to a train show is a day at a NASCAR Race. I'm sure I'll be able to pick you out in the stands. [;)][;)][;)]

Because of a warmer than normal winter here in the NE, natural gas prices have fallen due to lack of demand. I'll take it.

Gas is down to $2.05 here. It will go up once the weather turns warm. Gouge gouge gouge.

Its a brisk 37 deg. this morning, but the sky looks like it might clear after the couple of days of rain. With this being one of my days off, not having two in a row is a pain, I've a bunch of errands to run.

The accountant called and announced my taxes were done with the usual "I've got good news and bad news". I'm getting a federal refund but have to pay state for a net gain of $7. This doesn't take into account the cost of having the taxes done. If we didn't have investment property I'd be able to do them myself.

With all the photos that get posted its difficult to comment on each one but I enjoy seeing all of them.

Morning guys,
Supposed to hit the low 70's today. Not that the weather man is ever wrong, but..... Anyway, not much happening this way. I will be Mr. Mom this weekend as the bride is doing her 1 weekend/month work to maintain a position at the hospital. I am glad the kids love the trains[:D] I know what we will be doing. Anyway, have a great day everyone.

OTTS meeting tonight at Charlie’s Layout

Train Show this weekend at Valley Forge HS, Parma, Saturday and Sunday.

Last night we test track wiring at the museum layout and all is good. We started to wire the switches and we also ran trains and tested for derailment. All looks good so far!

Another NEED for SPEED, NHRA is this weekend also.

Morning. Beautiful warm day and I have to fly to Texas [where I here it is going to be cool and rainy]. Well, no train running this weekend. Hope I can hook up with Bob Nelson [lionelsoni]. Long trip home Sunday [by the way of Chicago, yes, Austin to Chicago to RDU]. Got DVD player towatch movie. Flying United and I have not flown then in 15 years. Will probably make me mad like they did before over seating and I will not fly them again for 15 years. [;)] Got to go. God bless all and have a great weekend. [hope the hotel has computer so I can keep an eye on Buckeye]

Morning, all. Slightly cool and overcast in Prattville, AL.

I guess it's time I shared a joke:

An elderly Amish gentleman was attempting to hitch his mule to a cart. The mule lashed out with a hoof, kicking the old man just above the knee. The old Amish man hobbled around a moment, waiting for the pain to subside, caught his breath and looked sternly at the mule.
"Now mule," he began, " Thou knowest that I cannot curse thee. Thou also knowest that I cannot smite thee with a cord of wood."
He paused.
"But I can sell thee to a Baptist who can!"

I'm back up and running. Turned out to be a simple fix. When I built this box, I put in a front panel USB port device that also had a very small, 1-1/4" diam., fan in it. That was the problem. First I tried the train mans fix and tried oil. No go, so I disconnected it. Not necessary as most computers don't have this fan. What an improvement, didn’t realize how loud it had become, guess it built up over time.

Mitch,
They have pictures of some of the backgrounds on the Walthers site, but not all of them. I think I found the others on the Vollmer or Faller site but I don’t remember for sure, its been a while since I bought them. I have some that are just clouds that I am going to use on the new layout if I ever get around to it.

Doug Murphy,
You mentioned on another thread that you often see MOW cars, have you ever taken any pictures of them?

Morning - a fine bright sunny day here in Lower Arnold. It's about 30 degrees out now but will get up to 60 later today. Have to kick out some work today and working 4 hours of OT tomorrow downtown. Great pics and info guys! One of these days my basement will be done and I'll put your collected wisdom to some real use!
