Do lunch as I mised my Uncle's funeral while I was at the Bass Masters Classic. Got to get clothes ready to pack as fly out of here Friday at noon. All have a good day and God bless you all.

A 19 year old Marine from our town who died overseas was bured yesterday. That was the big news. Though we didn't know the family, my wife took the kids down to the church to pay our respects. It was nice to see such a large turnout of people along the road too. It was a spectacularly beautiful day - cool, blue sky, no clouds. This morning, though, the fog was so thick I just crept down to the train station. Hope y'all have a good day.

Hi all,

Chief, need pictures of the fish, not fish stories of one that got away.

BB told me to take the job so I begin work Sept 2 as editor of www.army.mil.

I'll update my forum profile at that time.

Last night, I used Chief's hotdog trick and it worked.

Ran thru the woods for about 90 minutes, all tired out, but of course BB wanted to stay there and keep hunting. I found an old apple and cherry tree that must have been on an abandoned farm and munched away.

It was getting dark and every time I try to grab BB, she runs away, knowing that I want to leave. But she couldn't resist the hot dog. Came tearing up to me. Held it out with one hand and grabbed her collar by the other and hoisted her up (I have to carry her out of the forest because we'd get tangled in the weeds w/leash).

She only took one or two chomps and the hot dog disappeared into her stomach. How can she enjoy it when she doesn't chew slowly?

Anyway, after realizing that I'd tricked her, she gave me a real dirty look and I felt somewhat guilty for using Chief's hotdog trick.

At my new job will be quite busy but will try to check in briefly. Also, I'll have pictures of my nearly completed 78 inch crossover up on my website sometime end of next week & will make a post.

Trying to finish my screenplay by end of next month. Finding out there's tons of Civil War buffs in these parts.

Chief,
Y'all be careful around them Yankees and don't bring home any carpet baggers!

Our brief cool spell has ended. Humidity is back up and our temperature will be back in the 90's this afternoon.

The ghosts of Grant, Sheridan and Sherman all will be out to welcome the Chief to Ohio. The Chief will be driving along I-70 that parralles the old National Road. He will cross the mighty Ohio near Wheeling, WV. just north of where the orginal B&O crossed into Ohio.

Needless to say we don't say "Ya'all" in this part of the country so he will need to brush up on his command of the english language until he gets back to WV.

His breakfast will not include grits, so he probably will be near starvation when he gets home. Of course when he gets back homw to the swamp they call the Carolinas he will order some snow from Spankybird for his winter festival.

Had good day with my cousin that I had not seen for a while. She is OK with her Dad's death [he was 90]. Got home in time to mow the grass [gracious, it had grown]. Well, I know I will not be able to get sweet tea and will have to settle for "pop" [what you call your Dad and not soft drinks]. [:D] Off to bed. Got to get clothes ready to fly out to Yankee land Friday at noon. Hey, get to open the new BPS in Myrtle Beach SC on Labor Day weekend. [:D] Getting too many jobs. USDA and NCDA wants me to interview farmers in NC as a part time job. Dr. John, its on the way to NC [humidity and heat]. Good night gang and God bless.

Looks like the Yankees are planning a big welcome [#welcome] for Chief’s visit to the Buckeye State.[;)]

The C&O is pulling into the station to pick up Chief

All be safe today.

Good Morning All,

We have on and off rain today, temp at 68 and going to 80. Sounds like yesterday, but we never hit the 80’s.

Have a safe trip Chief, be careful of the big cats in Buckeye country.

Chief, enjoy your sojourn! I just got an email that the 'travelling boxcar' that was set up via the other magazine forum is coming my way. I'm looking forward to getting it, running it over the layout and taking some photos. I did this once years ago in N scale, swapped cars with other layouts around the country. It was really neat to see the list of where the car went as it crisscrossed the nation... Anyone else ever do this? Boy, I drove to work today - 50 miles into Chicago - and made it in a hour - that never happens... must be people taking vacations or else the economy is worse than I thought... We'll see how long it takes to get home.

"Does is always rain or snow up here?"

And I thought it was a nice day weather wise in Ohio. [banghead]

Spankybird, now that I think about it, at approximately 3:00 pm today an ominous black cloud begin to form in the horizon, south of Columbus. As the cloud grew in size and the light dimmed, deafening thunder with an immense amount of rain descended upon the land of the Buckeyes.

We had a pretty good thunder storm roll through around 10 last night, loud enough to shake the house. It's clouding up again this afternoon with a chance of thunder showers forcast. Grass is too wet to cut, guess I'll have to go excercise the trains this afternoon before anything hits.

Have a good day all.

Doug, We were visited by a bright pink flamingo one Thanksgiving. It had visited in Europe prior to coming to California and from here it was traveling to Asia. A well traveled bird, best part was it didn't require feeding or cleaning up after.[(-D]

Hi to all.. I thought the picture of the Chief and Buckeye was great .. but which one is which? 58 here and rain today, but thats great, the first rain weve had in a month, and aftera all its fire season here. Hope we get a good soaker. My daughter is visiting from back east for a couple weeks and the wife is on vacation, so they decided to go to Hawaii for a week. Oh yes I was invited, but declined. Someone has to run the ranch, and besides my Williams E7 L&N AA arrived yesterday, and I havent run it yet. Everyone have a good week......Tim
